Erin awoke sometime later, her head pounding. She pressed her palm to her forehead as she leaned against the wall.

“Oof...what happened?”

She opened her eyes and took in the room. It was day already, and she could see the features of the room clearly, from the huge wooden floorboards to the distant, huge sofa-

“Wait...what the,” she said to herself. She blinked and looked again. It was her living room, but everything was gigantic! The sofa, the table, the chairs...all loomed in the distance, far away from her. She leaned back and gasped, staring at her own hands. They seemed normal, but…

“This...this isn’t possible...have I...shrunk?”

She stepped forward but bumped into an invisible wall. Reaching forward, she felt the thin, plastic barrier in front of her with her tiny hands. Then, for the first time, she took a good look around her. The ‘wall’ she had been leaning on before was pink colored cardboard stamped with white hearts. Looking down, she noticed that she was dressed in a cheap, polyester outfit, similar to the one that her Shelf Elf wore. She glanced to the side and gasped. Next to her, taped to the same cardboard wall, were an assortment of doll dresses, hats, shoes and accessories.

It took another moment for it to click as her situation began to dawn on her.

“Oh my god, am I in a doll’s case?”

She pounded her tiny fists against the plastic barrier, crying out in a tiny, squeaky voice.

“Help please! Anyone! Somebody help me!”

As if on cue, she saw a silhouette moving at the top of the stairs. Step by step, the outline of the person descended the stairs, small hands rubbing sleepy eyes. The ground began to shake as the gigantic creature approached, entering the well lit living room.

It was Violet. Only now she was huge. The four year old’s face glowed as she saw the presents under the tree.

“Santa came! Mommy!” she screamed at the top of her lungs, “Santa came!!!”

She bounded over excitedly, each foot pound sending shock waves through the ground that made Erin quiver. The little girl excitedly eyes the gifts, holding her little stuffed bunny in her arms.

“Mommy! Santa came! Can we open presents?!” she screamed again, approaching Erin’s box, the huge child’s legs squarely in her view.

“Violet!” the tiny woman squeaked as she continued to beat against the plastic, “I’m down here! Mommy’s down here!”

Violet must have heard the sound. “What’s that?” she said as she sat down and leaned forward, her gigantic face peering through the plastic window. Erin gulped as she saw her daughter’s features. She knew she was small, but it wasn’t until she was face to face with this giant child that the realization of how small finally settled in.

“Mommy?!” Violet gasped, her eyes going wide and her jaw dropping.

Erin jumped up and down excitedly. “Yes yes, sweetie, it’s me! Something happened and Mommy shrunk! Please help!”

Violet nodded. “Okay Momma!” she said as she grabbed the box. Erin fell as the box shook, being violently jostled as the four year old struggled to get it open.

“V-Violet...b-be careful,” Erin stammered as she continued to be shaken around. It took a little bit, but Violet was eventually able to pop open the tab and open the top, placing the box down on the floor so Erin could exit. Erin timidly climbed out, standing up and staring into her daughter’s huge face again.

“Mommy, you’re so tiny!” Violet said as she reached forward to pick her up.

“Violet, no, leave Mommy alo-eek!”

Erin squeaked as she suddenly found herself in her daughter’s hand, her tiny feet dangling as she was lifted into the air. The little girl smiled.

“So little! Like a doll. Oh! A Mommy dolly! OOH! My wish!”

Erin struggled, pushing against the girl’s gigantic fingers but to no avail.

“W-wish? What do you mean?” Erin stammered out.

“My Christmas wish! Like you said! I wished that you weren’t so big so you wouldn’t have to go to work and we could play all the time!”

Erin’s jaw dropped. On the one hand, she didn’t believe that the innocent words of a child could have caused something like this to happen. On the other hand, though, before today, she was fervently sure that it was impossible for a person to shrink, so she was slowly becoming ready to accept any explanation.

“Violet, sweetie, put Mommy down, please?”

Violet frowned. She looked back at the tree, then at her doll mom again.

“Can we open presents now?”

Erin sighed. She was still not entirely convinced this wasn’t a dream.

“Yes, we can open presents, but please put me down.”

Violet opened her hand and Erin fell, landing on her butt with a squeak. Violet cheered as she grabbed a big box, tearing open the paper with a giggle. She tossed the paper to the side and Erin squeaked again as the paper covered her, forcing her to try and claw her way out. Christmas was certainly a different experience at around ten inches tall.

“Yaay! A dolly car!” Violet said as she held the box, practically shaking with excitement. Sputtering, Erin finally threw away the last bit of paper as she stared up at her daughter and the car they had bought her this year.

“Yaay!” Oh! Maybe you can go for a ride later, Mommy!”

Erin blushed. That did sound like a fun idea…  “No...no Erin, focus….” she thought.

Violet ripped into the next gift, uncovering a cooking set, complete with fake food, and again forcing the little mom to have to escape from the discarded wrappings.

“Thank you Santa!” the little girl said with an excited giggle. “Thank you for the food set, the car and my Mommy as a doll!”

Erin blushed again. Most of the terror had faded, and right now she was just enjoying seeing her daughter enjoying the holiday so much. Violet turned and picked up the doll case again, reaching inside and slipping out the outfits and accessories.

“Ooooh!” she said as she stared at her mom. Erin stared back.

“Something wrong, honey?” she asked.

Violet smiled. “The elf costume is fun, but you need something nicer for Christmas!” She held up a pink, sparkly dress, complete with poofy sleeves and layers of petticoats. It was the most ugly thing Erin had seen in her life. She let out a nervous laugh.

“Honey, you’re not thinking of….”

But her question was answered a second later when Erin suddenly found herself in the air again, grabbed by her gigantic daughter. Erin squeaked and wriggled as Violet took off elf suit, leaving Erin completely naked. She covered herself as Violet shimmied the dress down onto Erin’s tiny body, pulling her arms through the poofy sleeves as she smoothed out the dress. Violet clasped the velcro on the back and, having finished, finally set Erin down.

“Mommy!” the little girl gasped, “You’re so pretty!”

Erin turned around. The thin plastic of the doll case provided a small, mirror-like effect, allowing the miniscule woman to perceive herself, standing there tiny and dressed from shoulder to knee in the most ridiculous dress she had ever seen. She blushed as she looked up at her daughter.

“Okay, Violet, this was fun, but I think it’s time we called Daddy and told him what happened. Maybe he can come home early and we can figure out how to fix this.”

Violet frowned. “But moooommy,” the little girl whined, “It’s my Christmas wish! We never get to play together, and you are so cute as a doll!”

Erin blushed again. She knew they had to figure out what was going on here, but at the same time she didn’t want to spoil her daughter’s Christmas. She looked up at her daughter’s huge, doe eyes and sighed.

“Okay, we can play a little more.”

Violet cheered and wrapped her hand around Erin again. The little woman was lifted into the air again. Violet picked up the doll brush and began to brush Erin’s long hair. Erin squeaked every time she hit a knot, the cheap plastic bristles ripping through her thin hair.

“Careful honey- ow!” she said as Violet continued brushing her, finally getting out the last couple of knots. Violet giggled as she put the brush down. Erin started to turn when she felt a metal object scratching against her scalp and felt her hair shift as something was clamped on. Reaching up, she felt the ridiculously large bow that Violet had just clipped into her hair.

“V...very nice, Violet,” she said as her daughter put her down again. She caught a glimpse of herself in the makeshift mirror again and frowned. She was just glad that no one was around to take a picture of her looking so ridiculous.

“Okay, sweetie, time to call Daddy,” Erin said. Violet wrinkled her nose.

“No Mommy, I wanna play a little more.”

Erin crossed her arms. She had had enough.

“No, Violet. You will listen to me now. This is fun, but it has to stop. I need you to get my cell phone now and give Daddy a call.”

Violet stared at her tiny mother and slowly, Erin began to feel nervous. She was the mother, of course, but at her tiny size, what child would listen? Still, Violet was a good girl, she could only hope she would listen to her.

“Okay Mommy,” Violet said. Erin breathed a sigh of relief until she saw her daughter turn around, ripping open the doll car box.

“Violet, what are you-”

“Wheee!” Violet yelled as she placed the plastic vehicle down. She threw the sticker sheets to the side. “For later, right now, we have to help Mommy!”

Erin screamed as she was suddenly picked up again. Violet giggled as she shoved the little doll woman into the driver’s seat of the car.

“Hold on, Mommy!”

In a panic, Erin braced herself against the plastic interior and grabbed the wheel. In the next moment, the car took off, Violet pushing it along the floor making car noises.

“Emergency! Emergency!” she giggled as she pushed the little woman all around the room. Erin tried to say something, but was clinging on for dear life, grossly afraid of being thrown from the vehicle during a sharp turn.

“Emergency! Super Princess Space Car ready to blast off!”

Erin’s eyes went wide. “What-AHH!”

Suddenly the car took off, with the little girl zooming the vehicle through the air like an airplane, whipping it around corners as she giggled. Erin screamed for her to be careful.

The car took one final turn and began to head up the stairs. As they took one final turn toward the dollhouse, Erin began to realize that it was going to be a very long morning….
