After a surprisingly busy evening, The entire Wright family (plus Dak’s good friend Danny) stood in a huddle around a strange unfamiliar contraption in the basement. They all had there brand new DnD character sheets in hand for whatever “surprise” Tyrese had for all of them that was supposedly going to make their DnD session the best ever.
“Dad…What are we doing in your mad scientist lab?” Kris said, still questioning her decision to play Dungeons and Dragons. She struggled the entire night prior trying to come up with a cool character for herself and ended up getting frustrated so she used a randomizer app to make her character, which made her even more nervous to play.
Finally after booting up his computer at his desk, Tyrese typed in a couple of commands and suddenly the contraption the family stood in front of lit up. Tyrese turned back to his family (and Danny) “Lady’s and Gentlemen! May I present to you my latest creation, the PersonaPad! The first ever fully functioning clothing/body modifier! If you can dream it, this can make it a reality.”
The family looked down at the simple looking six inch thick pedestal with a glowing gold light wrapping around its base. The pad looked like it was only wide enough for one person to stand on at a time.
“Umm…a clothing modifier? So like an autocloset?” Clarissa said, thinking this was just a fancy version of a device they already owned.
Tyrese laughed and scoffed at her statement, “No, it’s not just an autocloset. This right here can single-handedly change the world in ways once thought impossible.”
“Ok, so what’s it do?” Kris asked incredulously.
“Glad you asked. But I think it would be better if I showed you. Over on the computer I have entered my new DnD character’s design parameters. Once I step on this pedestal, one of you needs to go over and push start on the computer, and that will immediately release thousands of tiny nanites from this platform. Those nanites are specially designed and programmed to only modify the subject that is on the platform, and once locked onto their target they will begin to modify the subject to the exact parameters on the computer.”
“So are you saying this can make you look like that?” Trini asked while pointing at a short and stocky, bearded dwarf wizard on the computer screen.
“Yes, but not just the clothing my character is wearing, but also their actual physical traits. So once this machine is done with me, I will end up the same height and body type as my character.”
“Whoa!” Dak and Danny said in unison.
“Right? It’s incredible technology that I get to say I invented. And now, I get to be the first human subject to test it out as well.” Tyrese walks over and steps up onto the platform and the glowing gold ring on the pedestal instantly turns green. “Ok, who wants the honors?”
As Dak and Danny stumbled fighting to be the one to do it, Kris steps around them and without hesitation pushes the start button which makes the room go silent as everyone turned and watched what would happen. Suddenly a small cloud of nanites burst from the pedestal beneath Tyrese and locks onto his body. With a grin, Tyrese watched as the nanites surveyed his body and then went right to work on his upper extremities. Everyone was in awe as they saw Tyrese’s head slowly being manipulated and modified into a much scruffier bearded face with slightly lighter skin and long dark braided hair. A face that was completely unrecognizable from Tyrese’s original face. They then watched as the nanites moved on from his head and started making his taller framed body slowly shrink until it was rather short and stocky. By the time it was done with his body, he was only about 5 feet tall and very stocky. As a group of nanites were modifying his body, another smaller group had been converting his previous clothes into his new gnome outfit. His new outfit was made entirely out of brown leather with fur stitched to the shoulders and leather straps wrapped around his torso in an x pattern. By the end of his transformation, Tyrese was the spitting image of a scruffy gnome that lived in the mountains.
The family looked on in disbelief as Tyrese went from being a taller well built man to this short burly gnome straight out of a fantasy world. Clarissa seeing the transformation was complete, slowly stepped forward. “Tyrese, how do you feel?”
Tyrese let out a hardy chuckle with his knee deeper gnome voice, “Hahaha, I feel incredible! This new body feels great! And look at this authentic gnome clothing. It is actually made with real leather and furs. Go ahead, feel it.” Clarissa stepped forward and tan her hand over his shoulder pads and felt the fur. “Oh my gosh, you weren’t kidding? It’s real fur. That’s crazy!”
“I know!”
Clarissa then ran her hand over his cheek and then his beard and was blown away by how real it all was. Her husband was truly in a different body now. “Oh my, you are very hairy.” She said with a giggle which also got Tyrese to laugh as well.
“Well Gnomes tend to be hairy. Plus I’m specifically a mountain gnome so that means extra hairy. Go on everyone. Come check it out.” One by one they came up and inspected Tyrese’s new body like he was some science experiment, which technically he was.
“So it didn’t hurt at all? I mean, your whole body was modified. There wasn’t any discomfort?” Kris asked nervously.
“I mean, it tingled a bit where the nanites were working but nope, no pain. Honestly I don’t think I would’ve been brave enough to go through with this if there was pain involved.” He admitted before stepping off the platform, which made the pedestal turn back to a gold color light. “Alright, now that you’ve all seen the device in action, who wants to be next?”
Dak immediately rushed over holding his character sheet in his hand and gave it to his dad. “Do me next. I can’t wait to become my character, Kiera Stoutbreeze, half-elf rogue.”
“Haha! I like it! Hop on up on the platform and I’ll get your character info input into the computer. Dak jumped up onto the platform and after a couple of minutes, Tyrese had all his info out into the computer and turned to his son who was grinning ear to ear. “Alright Dak, are you ready?”
“Yep, let’s do it!”
Tyrese let out an approving roar before pressing the start button which instantly released the cloud of nanites onto Dak’s body. To the family’s surprise, Dak’s frame didn’t get altered too much. He grew in height maybe a couple of inches and his ears took on a pointy elf-like shape, but other than that his body looked very similar in build. He still had an athletic, albeit, slightly more muscular body, and he still had the same long blonde hair just slightly lighter in tone and pulled back in a ponytail now. The most notable changes were to his face and his chest. His face was definitely more feminine now with a dash of eyeliner and mascara to complete the look. His chest notably increased in size just slightly to the point that it was questionable whether he now had actual breasts or not. However, what completed the very androgynous look was Dak’s new outfit. His new outfit was made from a dark leather material, that had a popped up collar that connected to a strapless top by two criss-crossing pieces. the two straps that connected the collar to the strapless top created a almost boob window style appearance that made the look even more feminine. He also now had long leather gloves on both arms that went halfway up each arm to round out the look, along with tight leather pants.
Once his transformation was done, Dak assessed his new body and jumped down from the platform excited. “Yes! This is so cool! This is exactly how I imagined my character looking. Thanks dad!” He said in a slightly higher pitched voice that he must not have noticed was different. Trini and Kris both came over to their brother to inspect his new look while Clarissa approached her husband, “Ok, my turn.”
As Tyrese was helping his wife setup her character transformation, Danny, Kris and Trini continued their inspection of Dak’s new body. “So you decided to lean into the androgynous look more I see.” Kris said with a smirk.
Dak blushed a bit, “Yeah, I’ve always kind of been teetering on the fence of masculinity/femininity, so I figured let’s make it even more so. Plus I really love this look for a half-elf.”
“I think you look amazing Dakota. The outfit is so stylish.” Trini said.
“Thanks. How about you Danny? What do you think?”
“You look amazing as always man. Clever design of your top so you can show off your well-toned shoulders and triceps.”
“Ha, I was waiting for someone to call it out. And thanks man. Appreciate the compliments.”
“Alright kids, while you were admiring Dakota’s new body, your mother underwent her transformation. So may I introduce to you, the gorgeous and powerful elf ranger, Drenemere Stowgrad!” Tyrese gestured towards the platform and in unison the kids all looked over and were blown away by their mom’s new body. Posing before them proudly was Clarissa in her new sexy- elf form, complete with her brand new intricately crafted bow in her right hand.
“Whoa mom, you are hot!” Trini said emphatically.
“Oh stop it.” Clarissa said timidly.
“No mom, she’s right. Your new body is gorgeous! Look at yourself. Your hot. You look crazy strong. Those abs are to die for. And don’t even get me started on the cute armor you chose.” Once again Trini’s compliments mad Clarissa blush bright red.
“Thanks Trini. I will say, this body feels good. I feel like I could do anything. I know I stayed in shape all these years but this is beyond just being in good shape. I have so much energy now, it feels like I’m 20 years younger. Plus, look at these cute ears poking out of my brunette hair. Aren’t they adorable?”
Tyrese looked at his wife proudly, “You look amazing hun. Ok, who’s next?”
“Ooh, I’ll go next. Seeing everyone else’s new looks I can’t wait any longer.” Trini said excitedly.
As Trini and Tyrese began entering her character info into the PersonaPad, the others were still chatting about their new looks until Dak thought of something. “So Danny, do you have a character you want to look like?”
Danny shrugged his shoulders, “Meh, not really. I’m the Dungeon Master so I’ll be playing several characters. But maybe I’ll turn into one if one stands out. All of you look amazing though, but I wonder how Trini will OH…MY…GOD…” Upon seeing a stunned and speechless Danny, Dak and others turned to see what evokes such a reaction from him and found out immediately when they spotted quite possible the hottest, bustiest Tiefling woman they’d ever seen.
“My goodness Trini, are you trying to give Danny a heart attack?” Dak said as he was fanning his friend who had keeled over into his arms sweating profusely.
“Oh no, does my new form not look good?” Trini said worriedly.
“No Trini, you look extremely cute. Dak and Danny are just idiots.” Kris said annoyed by their antics.
“Oh, well then I guess thanks Danny for the huge compliment.” Trini said as she did a small curtsy. Trini’s new body was cute, adorable, and sexy all rolled into one. She had chosen to be a Tiefling because she thought having a pair of horns would be super cute. So she decided two sets of horns would be even better than that. One set curled down a bit while the other set went upwards. Then she decided to keep her blonde hair but make it slightly longer and put it up into two pigtails, and then she decided she wanted to be a small Tiefling so she had her height shrunk to about 4 feet tall. Her face was now much more petite looking yet still incredibly fierce, and she decided to wear armor that had cool metal shoulder plates and gauntlets, and also showed off her new smaller, yet busty figure. After Trini hopped off the PersonaPad, everyone was huddled together discussing their new looks when Tyrese cleared his throat to get their attention. “Alright, I believe we are down to the last transformation. Kris, are you ready to transform?”
The basement got quiet as everyone turned towards the now embarrassed Kris. “Are you sure I have to do this? I promise I’ll act out the role best I can.”
“Nope. We all agreed to this to add a spicy new layer to the game, and that includes you so get on up on that pedestal.” Tyrese said while gesturing towards the platform.
Kris grumbled to herself before walking towards her father. “Ok, but just warning you I struggled designing a cool character for myself so I used a DnD character generator to randomly make mine. Apparently I’m a Halfling Ranger named Ruby Hamson? What a weird name. Oh, and it came with a description of my new look so here, just make sure I look like what my sheet describes for Ruby.”
Tyrese took the printout from Kris and looked it over smirking at a few details. “Oh don’t worry, we’ll get you looking like Ruby in no time.”
“Perfect, thanks! Now let’s get started.” Kris said as she jumped up on the platform.
After plugging in the character traits, Tyrese started up the platform and soon the tiny little nanites were going to town on Kris.
After a bit though everyone, including Kris notices something seemed odd. Her body was shrinking like you’d expect for a Halfling, but her head was looking bizarre. Before anyone had time to process what they were looking at, the nanites retreated from Kris’s new form back into the pedestal. For a moment no one wanted to speak up, and this caused Kris to get uncomfortable so she tried to ask what they thought of her new body.
However, when she tried to speak, all that came out was a high pitched repetitive chirp. Immediately, Kris stopped and looked at everyone’s freaked out faces, except for Danny who was more intrigued than anything. She then started noticing her face felt really long and pronounced, so she looked down and to her surprise she saw a long dark grey beak protruding from her face. Startled she reached up to touch her new beak but was thrown off by the wings she saw reaching up instead of her hands. This made her jump and stumble backwards off the pedestal into a waiting Tyrese’s arms who chuckled a bit before petting his daughter’s new feathery body to try to calm her. “There there Kris, it’s alright. No need to freak out. Besides this is what your character sheet described your character to look like.”
Kris turned her head to her father confused before looking at the character sheet again and noticing it said Ruby Hamson was a Halfling Ostrich Ranger from the rare Ostrich tribe. Kris chirped at her dad trying to tell him it was a mistake and again Tyrese pet her daughter’s feathers to calm her. “I know, I know. You clearly didn’t mean for your character to turn into a literal Ostrich with Ranger abilities, but let this be your first DnD lesson. When making your character, you should put effort and care into making your character into what you truly want it to be. Not what some randomizer can spit out.”
Kris chirped acknowledging his advice and lowered her ostrich head. “Now, go ahead and hop back up on the pedestal and I’ll make your character into something less ostrichy.” She nodded and trotted up onto the pedestal and before she knew it the nanites were adjusting her form again.
“Homey that wasn’t very nice.”
“I know, and I apologize. I didn’t mean to startle her so badly.” Tyrese said feeling bad for what he did to Kris.
“So this device really can make us into anything?” Trini asked amazed by how her sister was an ostrich a moment ago.
“I told you. This thing is revolutionary. If it exists, this baby can turn you into it.”
“Wow!” Danny and Dakota said simultaneously.
“Glad you guys find it as fascinating as me.” Tyrese said, feeling proud of his invention.
“The wow wasn’t for you. Look.” They pointed over to Kris who had finished transforming from an ostrich to a cute yet fierce looking Halfling with vibrant large ruby colored eyes and matching hair which was up in a tight bun. Her outfit was a tight fitting blue top with sleeves that exposed her shoulders slightly, and some skin tight leather pants that her top was tucked into. On her head was a cool looking pair of goggles design for exploring. To round out the look, she also had cute pointy ears, a button nose, and a bronze choker that matched her outfit.
Kris looked over her new body and tested her ability to speak again. “Hello, testing, testing. Thank god I can talk again. And hey!” She punched her dad in his gnome shoulder angrily. “That wasn’t very funny turning me into an actual ostrich.”
He chuckled, “I apologize. Just wanted to make sure you took this a bit more serious. We all put a lot of effort into our characters so I hope you start to put the effort in as well. And don’t think I completely took the ostrich traits away from you. I made sure you had a slightly longer neck like an ostrich would have. But honestly, I think it looks good with this form.”
Kris looked in a nearby mirror and noticed her thin long neck for the first time. “Huh, you’re right. It goes perfectly with this body.“
As Kris got off the platform, Clarissa brought her into a big hug before Tyrese spoke up. “Alright, now that everybody has embraced their DnD characters, let’s make our way to the dining room so we can get this show on the road!” The three kids minus Kris all cheered before sprinting upstairs, while Clarissa and Kris followed them from behind.
Upstairs they all found their seats around the dining table and at the far end Danny took his seat behind his Dungeon Master setup, and then peered out to the rest of the group with an excited and eager look. “Everybody ready?” He asked to approving nods from everyone except Kris who nervously shook her head in approval. Danny smiled, “Awesome, Let’s begin. We start in a dingy, dark dungeon with glimmers of dim light coming from a couple of torches on the walls. Along the far wall of this stone room we see 5 individuals chained up to the wall by metal shackles, each struggling to get free. These 5 people just so happen to be all of you.” Danny grinned at the Wright family, who was just starting to realize that this might be a more challenging DnD campaign then they first imagined.
