Rebecca, caught in the transformation wave while trying to rescue Dave, collapses as her limbs lengthen and rearrange. Her cries turn into yelps as coarse brown and black fur envelops her form. Her mind, filled with memories of marriage, cooking, and family, is flooded with new sensations: territorial pride, a desire to protect a pack, and a sharp nose detecting danger. Now a strong, masculine German Shepherd named Ranger, she sprints into the wild, alert and driven.
3. Carly Douglas – Becomes a Female Border Collie
Carly, the teenager passionate about activism, is among the first to change. Her transformation is fast and fluid—fur patterns of black and white spiral across her shrinking frame, her legs growing agile and nimble. Her rebellious personality dissolves as a bubbly, excitable canine energy takes over. She becomes Luna, a quick-witted and playful Border Collie, more concerned with chasing pigeons than social justice.
4. Josh Douglas – Becomes a Male Pug
Josh, the youngest and most emotionally sensitive, is struck by the serum mist as he calls out for his dad. His transformation is awkward and tight—his limbs compact, his face flattening as folds of skin puff out and a curled tail springs from his back. His voice reduces to snorts and pants. The boy who once worried about fitting in is now Benny, a male Pug with an infectious joy for belly rubs and no knowledge of his former worries.
5. Dr. Kozak – Becomes a Female Afghan Hound
The serum’s mastermind suffers the cruelest irony. As the gas engulfs him, his arrogance is replaced by confusion and fear. His limbs grow long and slender, fur cascading around him in silky golden waves. His once-calculating mind dulls into a dreamy fog as he prances off, now Celeste, an elegant but utterly vapid Afghan Hound, obsessed with grooming and unaware of the empire he once tried to build.
6. Lance Strictland (Kozak’s Partner) – Becomes a Male Bulldog
Lance, a brute in a suit, transforms into a squat, heavy-set bulldog with droopy jowls and a perpetual scowl. He collapses to all fours, his clothes shredding, as gruff growls replace his curses. Once a ruthless executive, he is now Bruno, a stubborn stray with a tendency to snore and nap more than fight.
Ending:
The final scene shows a montage of the now-dogified family and villains wandering the streets of Los Angeles. They cross paths unknowingly, sniffing and circling each other like strangers. Their human pasts are lost forever, replaced by wagging tails, barks, and the simple joys and hardships of life as strays. A dog catcher drives by in the background, slowly approaching the pack.
