Chapter 1: The Quiet Trail
Jessica loved her solo hikes. The local woods near her town offered peace and the occasional thrill of spotting deer or rare birds. This morning, the air was cool, the trees heavy with spring’s bloom, and the trail nearly empty. With a packed bag and earbuds playing ambient music, she trekked up the familiar hill, unaware that this walk would end in a way nothing short of otherworldly.
Chapter 2: The Rock from the Stars
Halfway through her route, Jessica noticed something odd near a fallen tree—a large, dark rock half-buried in the earth. Its surface shimmered strangely, glinting green with swirling hints of purple. Curious, she crouched beside it. A thin slime oozed out of a fissure in the stone, glistening like oil on water. Her fingers brushed against it—warm, unnaturally smooth. It clung to her skin like it wanted to be there.
By the time she wiped her hand, the slime was gone, absorbed through her skin.
Chapter 3: Unease Within
The next day, Jessica felt… off. Her skin tingled constantly. Her limbs ached, but not from exertion—it was deeper, like her bones were shifting. She began noticing changes. Her eyes reflected light oddly. Her fingertips looked slightly longer. Her hips widened. The mirror showed her a more exaggerated figure. Her voice had a strange tone, almost vibrating.
By the end of the week, she could no longer focus on written words. Letters swirled in nonsensical shapes. Talking became hard. People’s words sounded like distant echoes, unintelligible.
Chapter 4: The New Form
Jessica woke to pain. Her skin had turned a pale iridescent lavender. Her hair was gone, replaced by a smooth, scalp-like sheen with slight bioluminescence. Her eyes were pitch black, and her pupils shifted shape.
She no longer looked human—her limbs were too long, her hips flared unnaturally wide, her chest had swelled with an alien curve, and her fingers had webbing. She could only growl, hiss, or chirp. The forest no longer felt familiar; it was a cage.
She realized she was alone, truly alien, and could never return to normal.
Chapter 5: Caged
In desperation, she approached the forest edge, hoping someone might recognize her. But at the first sight of her, people screamed. She couldn't explain, couldn't speak. The language of humanity was gone to her.
She was surrounded, tranquilized, and taken to a cold, underground lab. They poked and prodded, scanned and sampled. They labeled her a threat, a creature. They never knew her name was once Jessica.
Inside her, the memory remained—but it was slipping, fading like a dream. She banged on the glass walls of her cell, but only strange clicks came out.
She was a mystery. A specimen. An alien, forever.
