Nice VR Avatar

Nate was hanging out at his best friend Melody’s apartment, casually browsing through her gaming setup when something caught his eye—a sleek, high-tech VR headset resting on her desk. It looked more advanced than any headset he'd seen before. Curiosity got the better of him, and he figured Melody wouldn’t mind if he tried it out.

Slipping the headset over his head, he powered it on and launched VRChat. A massive catalog of avatars appeared before him, ranging from realistic to absurdly cartoonish. Feeling playful, Nate scrolled through the options until he landed on something ridiculous—Peg Pete, the motherly, full-figured character from Goof Troop. He chuckled to himself and selected the avatar, expecting nothing more than some lighthearted fun.

The moment he confirmed his selection, an intense dizziness washed over him. His head throbbed, a sharp pain stabbing into his skull. His vision swam, colors distorting as the headset seemed to fuse to his face. Panicked, he yanked the device off—only to feel his body lurch as if the ground had suddenly shifted beneath him.

A strange warmth spread through his limbs, accompanied by a tingling sensation crawling across his skin. His hands trembled as he looked down—only, they weren’t his hands anymore. His fingers had thickened, nails rounding out in a more cartoonish style. The flesh took on a smooth, rubbery texture, his skin darkening into an animated tan hue.

A deep pull in his stomach made him double over. His frame expanded outward, his torso rounding as layers of softness built upon him. His chest swelled, two significant weights pressing against his now-loosened shirt, which stretched unnaturally before morphing into Peg Pete’s familiar green blouse. His waist pinched in slightly, only to flare out into wide, motherly hips that threw off his balance.

His jeans melted into a form-fitting magenta skirt, and as he stumbled, his legs reshaped—thickening, shortening slightly, while his feet transformed into large, rounded cartoon paws encased in sensible yellow heels.

Nate gasped, but the voice that came out wasn’t his own—it was feminine, husky, and undeniably Peg Pete’s. His throat tightened as an unfamiliar sensation fluttered through him. He reached up, feeling his face reshape beneath his fingers—his jaw softened, his nose widened, and his ears stretched outward into round, floppy dog-like shapes. A heavy curtain of auburn hair spilled down his back, bouncing into a perfectly styled shape.

He—no, she—stood frozen, heart pounding in disbelief.

Just then, Melody walked into the room, stopping dead in her tracks at the sight of the cartoonish, curvy mother standing in the middle of her apartment. Her eyes darted to the headset on the floor, then back at the transformed Nate. It didn’t take long for her to piece together what had happened.

“Nate… tell me you activated backup mode,” Melody asked, her tone a mix of exasperation and concern.

The transformed woman gave her a bewildered look. “B-Backup mode?” she stammered, her voice dripping with Peg Pete’s recognizable inflection.

Melody’s face paled. “Oh, crap.” She ran a hand through her hair, trying to suppress a nervous chuckle. “Uh… well, you might be stuck like this for a while.”

Nate’s cartoonish features twisted in panic. “W-What do you mean ‘a while’?!”

Melody sighed. “The changes are temporary, but… without the backup mode enabled, there’s no quick way to turn you back. If we don’t find a way to recover your old form, you could be stuck like this permanently.”

Nate—now fully Peg Pete—felt her stomach drop. This was not how she’d planned to spend the day.
