Henry should have listened. Everyone warned him — friends, online forums, even a dusty handwritten note taped to the old VHS case — Never watch this tape at 3:00 AM, or the Cartoon Man will get you. But curiosity had always gotten the better of him. When the clock struck three, he slid the tape into the VCR and pressed play.
The grainy screen flickered to life with a jarring cacophony of zany music and cartoon laughter. His eyes grew wide as the picture distorted, shapes twisting and colors bleeding off the edges like ink running in water. Then a long, rubbery hand shot out from the screen and grabbed him by the collar, yanking him into the television with a sudden, bone-jarring POP!
Henry didn’t even have time to scream.
The world around him twisted like a swirling kaleidoscope — colors brighter than anything he had ever seen, reality bending like liquid rubber. His body felt strange, weightless, and then came the first snap — his spine contorted, his limbs stretching and contracting in ways human joints never should.
His fingers bloated and fused, becoming exaggeratedly round, with four plump digits instead of five. His arms turned noodly and flexible, bending without bones. He gasped as his voice rose several octaves, becoming a bubbly, giggling soprano that bubbled out whether he wanted it to or not. His chest pushed outward in a sudden POW, two impossibly large, perky curves filling out a tight, cartoonishly skimpy dress that materialized with a spray of stars and sparkles.
"H-huh?" His words slipped into a sultry, high-pitched tone as his eyes widened further, stretching into exaggerated ovals. His lips plumped into a perfect pout, painted a luscious cherry red without any makeup brush in sight.
"Oh no, what’s happening?!"
He clutched his hips, but they were expanding too — ballooning out in smooth, exaggerated arcs, giving him a figure that defied all logic. A thick, juicy hourglass shape formed, his waist impossibly cinched as wide, bouncy hips and a plush rear filled out like a sketch coming to life. His thighs thickened, pressing together as his legs curved into perfect pin-up girl proportions. Even his feet shifted into dainty high heels that clicked loudly with every bounce.
His reflection appeared in a shimmering puddle of cartoon paint. A voluptuous, overly-stylized toon girl stared back at him with big, batting eyes and lashes long enough to fan the air. His heart raced — no, her heart raced. She blinked rapidly, her face scrunching in confusion as memories started to slip like soap through her fingers.
"Who… who am I?"
She tried to remember. Something with an H… Henry? No, that didn’t sound right. Harriet? Hailey! Yes, that was it. That had to be it! She was Hailey, the sassy, flirty, bubblegum-brained bombshell. She giggled. It felt so right, so familiar — as if she’d always been this way.
The world around her shifted again, transforming into a bustling cartoon town filled with anthropomorphic animals, slapstick chaos, and quirky music. A title card flashed in the sky: “The Adventures of Hailey the Hooty Honey!”
Hailey blinked again, her previous life fading like the end credits of a forgotten film. She couldn’t remember how she’d gotten here or why it even mattered.
All she knew was that she had a job to do — to be funny, flirty, and forever the lovable star of the show.
She giggled again, twirling her luscious hair and bouncing her thick hips as she skipped down the road. A cartoon wolf whistled from the sidelines, his eyes popping out of his head in exaggerated hearts.
There was no going back.
Henry was gone. Hailey would never change back to normal.
And the worst part?
She didn’t even want to.
