A Good Book

As Robert stepped into the dimly lit library, the scent of old paper and ink filled his senses. Shelves upon shelves of ancient tomes towered around him, their spines bearing faded titles in languages he couldn’t recognize. His footsteps echoed softly on the wooden floor as he moved deeper into the labyrinth of books. He wasn’t entirely sure why he had come here—something had simply drawn him in, an inexplicable pull toward the unknown.

As he wandered, his eyes landed on a peculiar book sitting alone on a pedestal at the heart of the library. Unlike the dusty volumes around it, this book seemed pristine. Its leather cover shimmered faintly, and strange golden runes danced along its spine as if alive. Intrigued, Robert reached out and picked it up. The moment his fingers touched the cover, a jolt of energy surged up his arm.

"What the—?" he muttered, but before he could release the book, a blinding light exploded from its pages. The force of it knocked him backward, and he stumbled into a nearby mirror.

A tingling sensation coursed through his body, starting in his fingertips and spreading like wildfire. His hands began to tingle and itch, the skin softening and growing delicate. His nails lengthened slightly, becoming well-manicured and perfectly shaped. He stared in confusion as his arms slimmed, the muscles fading away as a soft layer of flesh took their place. His shirt sleeves hung loosely for a moment before the fabric tightened again, reshaping itself to hug his now slender arms.

“What… what is happening?” he gasped, his voice cracking and then softening into a higher, melodious tone.

The tingling intensified in his chest, and a warm pressure built behind his sternum. He gasped again as his torso shifted. His broad shoulders narrowed, his waist pinched inward, and a pair of small, perky breasts began to swell beneath his shirt. His heartbeat quickened as the sensation continued downward. His hips creaked and widened with a sudden, unmistakable flare, while his thighs grew softer and more rounded. His jeans strained as his pelvis subtly reshaped itself.

Panic rose in his mind, but before he could process the changes, his reflection captured his attention. His face—it was changing. His sharp jawline softened into a heart-shaped contour. His nose shrank, becoming small and dainty, and his lips plumped into a soft, pouty curve. He watched in helpless wonder as his eyebrows arched elegantly above wide, expressive eyes. A pair of thick, round glasses appeared on his nose, framing his transformed features.

A strange pressure filled his mouth, and he let out a yelp as his teeth shifted. His incisors grew slightly larger, pushing forward just enough to give him a set of prominent buck teeth that peeked out when he parted his lips. His hair tickled his neck as it lengthened, cascading past his shoulders in glossy brown waves.

The final touches settled into place as his mind buzzed with new thoughts and feelings. A surge of excitement bloomed within her—yes, her now—as a love for knowledge, books, and the thrill of discovery took root. She could feel memories of Robert’s former life slipping away, replaced by a passion for research, a hunger for stories, and a need to explore the endless worlds contained in the pages surrounding her.

Her eyes darted back to the mirror, taking in her transformed figure. She wore a modest but adorably nerdy outfit: a button-up blouse with a cardigan, a pleated skirt, and knee-high socks. She adjusted her glasses with a delicate finger, a smile forming on her lips as she realized just how much she loved this new look.

The book—her book—lay open on the floor, the golden runes still glowing faintly. But instead of fear, all she felt was a deep sense of belonging.

She picked it up with reverence and cradled it against her chest, breathing in its rich, musty scent. The transformation was permanent; there was no going back. But she didn’t mind—how could she? She was a bookworm now, and the endless worlds within the library were hers to explore forever.

"This is heaven," she whispered, her fingers already reaching for the next treasure waiting on the shelves.
