Story 15 Mike A

The sun hung low over the rugged peaks of the Rocky Mountains as Mike ventured deeper into the wilderness. He had always been an adventurous soul, seeking solitude and challenge in the embrace of nature. Today, he had chosen to hike alone, leaving behind the comforts of modern life and, quite notably, his compass.

As he ascended, the sky grew darker, ominous clouds gathering overhead. Mike knew he should have paid more attention to the weather forecast, but his excitement had overtaken caution. It wasn't long before the heavens opened up, showering him with a relentless downpour. Thunder echoed through the canyons, and lightning illuminated the rocky terrain around him.

Realizing he was hopelessly lost, Mike desperately sought shelter. His soaked clothes clung to his shivering body as he stumbled upon a small cave. It wasn't much, but it would have to do. He ventured inside, his heart pounding with relief. Little did he know that this cave would become his sanctuary and prison, and his life would be forever altered.

As Mike settled into the cave, he tried to calm his racing thoughts. He watched the rain cascade outside, an angry waterfall from the darkened sky. Hours turned into a slow and weary blur as he waited for the storm to pass. The dampness and cold seemed to seep into his bones, and an eerie feeling gnawed at the back of his mind.

Gradually, Mike's sense of self began to erode. His thoughts became muddled, and his identity blurred. He was no longer Mike; he was something else, something primitive. He couldn't quite explain it, but an inexplicable transformation was underway. It was as if the very essence of his being was slipping away, leaving behind a void that was slowly being filled with something ancient.

Me cold, he thought, the words forming in his mind with an unfamiliar simplicity. Me stay in cave. Mike was losing his grip on the language and the thoughts that had defined him as a modern human. He huddled in the cave, his posture hunched, much like the way his distant ancestors might have.

As the rain continued to pour, Mike's transformation deepened. His body ached and changed, becoming more attuned to survival in the wild. He felt hair sprouting on his skin, his fingers coarsening, and his senses sharpening. Thoughts became primal urges, and he embraced them without question.

Finally, the storm subsided, and Mo-Moh, a cave woman, emerged from the cave. She stood on sturdy legs, her gaze fixed on the unfamiliar world around her. The surroundings looked strange yet oddly familiar. Her mind was now inhabited by the instincts and wisdom of an ancient time.

Story 15 Mike B

Mo-Moh would go on to live among the cave people, a forgotten relic from the past, as though the Rocky Mountains had transported her back in time. She communicated with simple gestures and grunts, just like her fellow tribesmen. Her days were filled with hunting, gathering, and surviving in a harsh world, a life she had unknowingly yearned for.

As for Mike, he was gone, erased by the passage of time and the mysterious cave. In his place, Mo-Moh lived, a testament to the enduring power of nature to transform and adapt, and a living embodiment of the past brought unexpectedly into the present.
