“Don’t worry, Arnold, it’ll be done on time, I promise. This investigative reporting gig won’t affect my deadline, okay? Relax. Besides, it’s really peaceful up here…could be just what I need.”
The red-headed writer tucked her cell phone back in her pocket, taking in her surroundings--the quaint, backwoods town of Bonneville. ‘Town’ was sort of a generous term, as there were about five buildings total, smack in the middle of the heavily wooded mountains.
She’d gotten tipped off the week before about a possible illegal moonshine operation going on in the area, and the mystery had been had been intriguing enough to pique her interest. Two days ago she’d managed to take some time off from working on her latest book (to her agent’s dismay) and put up at the local bed and breakfast to ask some questions.
