Thus ends the Lothering arc, and regretfully, the parting of Hawke and Sagramor. My initial draft had these two making love after their watch together, but in the end, I don't think it really fit, especially seeing as how I'm writing Hawke as this peerless warrior and vanquisher of evil, not Bella Swan with a broadsword like too many other DAII fics do. She's&nbsp;not really the sort of person to fall into somebody's bed on a whim, so I settled for having them snog a bit <img src="https://e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/smile.gif" width="15" height="15" alt=":)" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="391" title=":) (Smile)"/> Let me know if I made the right call on that one.<br /><br />As for all these stories of the Champion I discuss at the beginning? Well, let's put it this way. Hawke is far too good a character for the games she was given, and I was really frustrated at how her journey never seemed to amount to anything (and let's not get started on her&nbsp;pigeon-holing in <i>Inquisition</i>). Like so much about that game,&nbsp;Hawke's presence is a bit of a waste, and we're left with the regretful notion that if she had perished in any one of the random encounters in DAII, the world would be a lot better off. Now, some may call that an insightful deconstruction of the hero's role in a high-fantasy story, but I prefer to think of it as crap writing.<br /><br />So yes, I'm teasing a lot of stories featuring Hawke here that go beyond the three-act structure of DAII (and yes, <i>Red Winter</i> is among them, I haven't forgotten it, I've just been battling a severe case of writer's block on the subject). Is everything going to line up perfectly with <i>Inquisition</i>? Probably not, but that's a small price to pay for writing an arc worthy of Hawke, one that sees her shape the future through her own courage and strength, rather than just be caught up in things. She's going to be the star of her own legend in the end, rather than just a prologue or an accessory&nbsp;to someone else's, Sagramor included, and I would have it no other way.<br /><br />/end rant<br /><br />Regardless, I hope you all enjoyed this installment!
