Chapter 5: Something is off about all of this

The man in the mirror was a stranger.

I had ripped the ridiculous red dress from my body the moment I’d stumbled back into the sanctuary of my apartment, letting it pool on the floor like a silken puddle of blood. I’d put on a pair of old, comfortable jeans, but I remained topless, standing before the full-length mirror on my closet door, locked in a state of horrified fascination.

My breasts were magnificent. And I hated them with every fiber of my being.

They were not the perky, manageable B-cups from before. These were… architectural. Two massive, heavy globes of flesh that dominated my torso, their sheer weight pulling my shoulders forward into a slight, unfamiliar stoop. They were soft, yet firm, with a weight that felt both alien and undeniably real. I reached out a trembling hand, my fingers sinking into the plush flesh. It was like kneading warm, living dough. I lifted one, testing its heft. It was heavy, a solid, pendulous weight that filled both of my hands and then some. I let it drop, and it jiggled with a slow, hypnotic motion that made my stomach churn.

And the nipples… they were a whole other catastrophe. They were no longer the small, flat discs of a man’s chest. They were large, a dark, rosy brown, and puckered into tight, prominent points that seemed to be permanently erect. The areolas were wide, the skin dotted with tiny bumps I’d never seen before. I poked one, gently. A jolt of pure, electric pleasure shot straight from the tip to my groin, so intense it made my knees buckle. I gasped, snatching my hand back as if I’d been burned. My new body was a minefield of treacherous, unwanted sensations. Much more intense than my previous tits.

“You know, for someone who just failed spectacularly, you seem to be enjoying the consequences.”

Lyra’s voice, dripping with amusement, echoed from the corner of the room. She was perched on my dresser, legs crossed, observing my self-examination with the detached interest of a connoisseur at a wine tasting. She floated towards me.

“You really misplayed your hand there, buddy,” she giggled.

I shot her a glare in the mirror, my reflection a mask of pure fury. “You think?!” I snarled, gesturing wildly at my new, monstrous cleavage. “I have zero Gems. Zero. And I have a pussy and tits that are four times bigger than before. This is one step forward and two giant, fucking, jiggly steps back!” I tried to push her away, but my hand went right through her, which made her giggle.

“Well, on the bright side,” she offered, ever the optimist, “at least you don’t have to walk around with a dildo shoved up you anymore.”

I froze. She was right. The silence in my own head, the absence of that gnawing, invasive craving, was a small but significant mercy. I let out a long, weary sigh, the fight draining out of me. I grabbed a baggy black t-shirt from the pile of clean laundry on my chair and pulled it on. It was no use. The shirt, which once hung loosely on my frame, was now stretched taut across my chest, the two massive mounds beneath creating a silhouette that was undeniably, aggressively female.

But as I stood there, defeated, a strange, pragmatic thought began to cut through the haze of my despair. I had done well, in a way. It was only three o’clock in the afternoon. In the space of a few hours, I had earned, and then spent, twenty Gems. I had successfully navigated two humiliating challenges. For a brief, glorious moment, my only remaining alteration had been the pussy, something I could have easily hidden from the world. This wasn't impossible. The game was winnable. I just had to be smarter. I had to stop thinking like a victim and start thinking like a player.

“What’s next?” Lyra’s voice broke my train of thought. “Another challenge? Going for a hat-trick of failures?”

“I just need a moment to think,” I snapped, pacing the room, my new breasts swaying with a heavy, distracting momentum. Okay. I was a freak. There was no hiding this. There was no pretending to be normal. So there was no point in playing it safe anymore. The thought was liberating. If I was already a monster, what was one more horn, one more tentacle?

The plan formed in my mind, cold and clear. One, maybe two more successful challenges today. High-risk, high-reward. If I could score a big one, I could earn enough Gems to fix everything at once. No more piecemeal reversals. I would endure the changes, use them even, until I had enough capital to buy my old life back in a single, final transaction. The breasts, as much as I loathed them, were a tool. This challenge, the one I had just failed, was proof of that. The app was designed for a woman. To win, I had to start using the female attributes I was being cursed with.

But that didn't explain Felicia.

Now that the immediate panic had subsided, the pieces began to click into place with a chilling, undeniable logic. Since the moment this app had appeared on my phone, this impossible, supermodel-goddess had been a constant, recurring decimal in the equation of my life. She gets hired by my firm the day after I get the app. She moves in next door. She’s there when I need a dress. She’s there to witness my most humiliating moments. And today… today her "accident" in the elevator was the direct, undeniable cause of my failure. It was all too weird. Too coincidental.

Then again, what part of my life was sane anymore? A week ago, magic apps and instant sex changes were the stuff of bad internet fiction. Now, I was a man with DD-cups and a vagina. Maybe cosmic coincidence was just part of the package. But still… a deep, cold suspicion was taking root in my gut.

One step at a time. For now, I had a game to win.

“In for a penny, in for a pound,” I said out loud, my voice filled with a new, grim determination. I picked up my phone.

Lyra’s spectral form clapped with silent, gleeful applause. “That’s the spirit!”

I hit ‘ACCEPT.’

The screen flashed.

CHALLENGE ISSUED

Objective: In the next 10 minutes, have five different men look at your body with visible lust.

Time Remaining: 9:59

Reward: 10 Gems, 100 XP

Optional Perk for Completion: Perfect Fit (You can instantly tell if a garment will fit you perfectly just by looking at it.)

Punishment for Failure: The Male Gaze Ideal (Your body will permanently reshape to better fit the female form as perceived by the male gaze. Your hips and ass will swell. Your waist will cinch.)

A week ago, this challenge would have sent me into a spiral of panic. Now? Now, I was all action. Ten minutes. Act now, think later. My eyes darted around the room. My new breasts were the key. I ripped off the baggy t-shirt and pulled on a tight, black tank top. It was obscene. The thin fabric hugged every curve of my massive chest, pushing the two globes together, creating a canyon of deep, shadowy cleavage. I looked like a porn star.

I grabbed a black baseball cap and a disposable face mask from my drawer, pulling them on to obscure my face. My identity didn't matter for this. Only my body. I walked out of my bedroom and headed for the door, my heart pounding with a strange, thrilling mix of fear and purpose.

I yanked the door open and almost walked straight into Felicia. Again.

“Leaving so soon?” she asked, a playful, knowing smirk on her lips. She was leaning against the opposite wall of the hallway, scrolling on her phone, as if she had been waiting for me. “And I see you’ve taken off the dress. A shame. It suited you.”

My mind, already in overdrive, couldn't process the sheer impossibility of it. “How do you… how do we keep bumping into each other like this?” I stammered, my suspicion hardening.

Her gaze dropped from my face to my chest. Her eyes widened, not with shock this time, but with a look of genuine, impressed appraisal. “Wow,” she purred, her voice a low, appreciative hum. “Since when were you hiding those puppies?”

I couldn’t believe her audacity. She knew. She had to know. But there was no time. The clock was ticking. Eight minutes left.

My plan was simple. The construction site next door was always bustling. A group of guys on their lunch break. A quick flash. It would be over in seconds.

“Sorry, I’m in a hurry,” I said, my voice cold and clipped. I pushed past her, not waiting for a response, and jabbed the elevator button.

“Hey, I’m headed out, too!” she called, her footsteps echoing behind me as she rushed to catch up. I didn’t turn around. The elevator doors opened, and we both stepped inside. I stood in the corner, my arms crossed over my chest, my gaze fixed on the floor numbers. Seven minutes.

The doors slid shut. The elevator began its slow descent. The silence was thick with unspoken tension.

“So, seriously,” she said, her voice breaking the quiet. “Are those things real?” She gestured at my chest.

“It’s an allergic reaction,” I said through gritted teeth.

She laughed, a throaty, disbelieving sound. “Sure, sure.” She took a step closer. I could smell her perfume, that same intoxicating scent of jasmine and spice. “Oh, god, you know what?” she said, snapping her fingers. “I think I forgot my wallet. I’ll just get off on the next floor and run back up.”

I grumbled under my breath. Another delay. But it would only take a few seconds. It would be fine. Six minutes left.

She reached for the control panel. But instead of pressing the button for the next floor, her hand slipped, her fingers slamming down hard on the large, red emergency stop button.

A violent jolt shuddered through the elevator car. It lurched to a halt between floors. A deafening alarm began to blare, its shrill cry echoing in the small, metal box.

“Oops,” she said, her voice a symphony of false innocence. “Clumsy me.”

“FUCK!” The word tore from my throat, raw and desperate. She held her hands up in a placating gesture, her eyes wide with feigned surprise. “Sorry! It was an accident! I swear!”

But I could see it. A flicker of something dark and triumphant in the depths of her eyes. She was enjoying this.

I lunged for the intercom button, slamming my fist against it. “Hello?!” I yelled. “Someone! The emergency stop was hit by accident! We’re stuck between the fourth and fifth floors! Can you reset it?!” My voice was cracking with panic. Three minutes left on the clock.

A crackle of static, then a weary, bored voice. “Christ, not again. Some lady did this yesterday. Yeah, yeah, hold on. Resetting the system. Try not to lean on the big red button next time, genius.”

The intercom clicked off. A moment later, with a groan of metal and a sudden lurch that made my stomach drop, the elevator resumed its descent. My eyes shot to my phone. One minute and twenty seconds left.

“You’re in a real rush, huh?” Felicia commented, her voice laced with a cruel, knowing amusement. “Don’t get your tits in a twist.” She winked.

I ignored her, my entire being focused on the descending numbers above the door. 3… 2… Lobby. The doors slid open with agonizing slowness. Thirty seconds left.

I bolted.

I burst out of the elevator and sprinted across the polished marble floor of the lobby, my sneakers squeaking in protest. I shoved my way through the revolving glass doors and out into the bright, hot afternoon. The construction site was right there, a hundred feet away. A group of five or six guys in hard hats and dusty jeans were sitting on a low wall, eating their lunch, their laughter carrying on the breeze.

Twenty seconds. I ran towards them, my lungs burning. The mask and hat would hide my face. This was it. This was my shot.

Ten seconds. I was fifty feet away, close enough for them to see. Close enough for this to work. Without breaking stride, I hooked my thumbs under the hem of my tight black tank top.

Five seconds. I started to lift the fabric, preparing to expose the massive, pornographic cleavage that was my ticket to freedom. I could feel the soft, heavy weight of my breasts beginning to rise, the air cool on the skin of my stomach. Their heads were starting to turn, their conversation faltering as they noticed the strange, half-dressed figure running towards them.

My phone chimed in my pocket, a quiet, mournful sound that was louder than a gunshot.

Challenge Failed. Punishment Active.

I stopped dead in my tracks, my hands frozen in the act of lifting my shirt. The hope, the adrenaline, the frantic, desperate energy… it all evaporated in an instant, leaving behind a cold, hollow emptiness. I let the tank top fall back into place.

Defeated, I turned and began the long, slow walk of shame back into the lobby of my apartment building. It was over. And it was all her fault.

As I stepped back through the revolving doors, my eyes adjusting to the dimmer light, I saw her. Felicia was standing by the mailboxes, casually flicking through a magazine, as if she had been there the whole time. My blood ran cold.

“Didn’t you… forget your wallet?” I asked, my voice flat and dead.

She looked up from her magazine, her expression a mask of manufactured confusion. Then, her eyes widened in a theatrical display of realization. “Oh my god, you’re right!” she gasped, slapping her forehead lightly. “I completely forgot! Silly me.” The performance was so flimsy, so transparently false, it was insulting.

She knew. She had to.

As I stood there, staring at her, I felt it begin. A deep, unsettling warmth spreading through my torso and pelvis. It wasn’t a tingling sensation like before. This was structural. A strange, deep popping sensation echoed from my hips, as if my very bones were being reshaped. A powerful, unseen force seemed to be squeezing my waist, pulling it inward, while another pushed my hips outward.

Felicia’s eyes, sharp and predatory, tracked the subtle shift. Her gaze dropped from my face, down my body, and a slow, appreciative smile spread across her lips. “Well, well,” she purred, her voice a low hum of satisfaction. “Are you wearing padding in your jeans?”

I looked down. My body was transforming right in front of her. My shoulders, which had been broad and masculine, were shrinking, pulling inward and creating a more delicate, tapered line from my neck. My waist was visibly cinching, the hard lines of my obliques softening and curving into a dramatic, narrow point. Below that, my hips were flaring out, the denim of my jeans straining as my pelvic bone widened and a new layer of soft flesh settled over the bone, creating a distinct, feminine curve. I hadn’t become a cartoon hourglass, but the fundamental architecture of my body had been rewritten. I still had my muscle, my abs were still there, but the silhouette was undeniably that of a woman.

I couldn’t stay there another second. I turned and fled back to the elevator, a desperate need to escape her, to hide, to see the full extent of the damage, overriding everything else. I jabbed the button, and as the doors slid shut, sealing me in.

In the privacy of the elevator, my reflection stared back at me from the polished steel walls. It was me, but it wasn’t. My arms were still muscular, my chest was still ridiculously large, but the underlying frame was different. Feminine. I was trapped in a horrifying hybrid body, and it was all her fault.

Back in my apartment, I stripped naked and stood before the mirror, a new wave of cold dread washing over me.

From the neck down, my body was now almost entirely a woman's. My musculature was still present thank god… my abs were a tight, defined grid, my arms still showed the hard-won results of years in the gym… but it was laid over a new, feminine skeleton. My shoulders were visibly narrower than my hips. My waist tapered in sharply before flaring out into the gentle, womanly curve of my new pelvic structure. My legs, still powerful, now looked longer and more elegant, flowing up into a fuller, rounder ass. It was a strange, disorienting paradox, it was me, but not me. Subtle enough to get away with it in baggy clothes (apart from the tits), but looking at me from the neck down while naked you’d just assume I was some butch-chick.

And it all came back to Felicia. Her perfect timing. Her convenient accidents. Her knowing smiles. She wasn’t just a neighbor. She wasn’t just a client. She was part of the game. She had something to do with the app. I knew it in my bones.

I called out for Lyra, a desperate hope that she could explain, could deny it. But the apartment was silent. She was gone again.

Of course she was.

An idea, cold and dangerous, took root. If Lyra wasn't here, if Felicia was the key, then maybe this was my chance. Maybe Lyra, with her constant presence and influence, was part of the problem, part of the system designed to keep me failing. I had to act now, while I was alone.

I quickly threw my clothes back on… the tank top, a baggy tee over it to hide my new shape, the mask and cap. I peeked out into the hallway. Empty. I made it to the elevator without seeing a soul. Perfect.

I got into my car and drove to the nearest Home Depot, my mind a whirlwind of paranoia and purpose. I needed a camera. Something small I could hide. And I needed a plausible excuse to get it into her apartment. In the electronics aisle, I found a tiny, wireless spy camera promising a 24-hour motion-activated battery life. In the home goods section, I found its Trojan horse: a large, dark-purple, heavily scented candle.

I paid at the self-checkout, my head down, my movements quick and furtive, terrified someone might recognize my face attached to this bizarre, gender-bending body.

I made it back to my car without incident. I was just about to pull out of the parking spot when Lyra’s form shimmered into existence in the passenger seat.

“There you are!” she exclaimed, her voice a little too bright. “I lost you for a moment there. What’cha get?”

I jumped, my heart leaping into my throat. “None of your business,” I snapped, shoving the bag onto the back seat.

She shrugged, unfazed. “So, another challenge?”

“Fuck no,” I said, my voice dripping with a carefully constructed exhaustion. “That’s enough for today. I’m going home to relax.” I couldn't trust her. Not anymore.

Back home, I had to get Lyra to leave again. I became the most boring person on the planet. I made dinner, ate it while watching mindless YouTube videos, and then just sat on the couch, staring into space. I ignored her completely, no matter how much she prodded or teased.

Eventually, her shimmering form flickered with boredom and vanished. I waited. “Lyra?” I called out tentatively. Silence. I walked around the apartment. “Lyra?” I grabbed one of my huge tits and squeezed, hoping the absurd gesture might summon her. Nothing. Now was my chance.

I took the candle and the camera into the kitchen. I used a lighter to melt a small crater in the top of the dark purple wax, just big enough to conceal the tiny camera. I pressed it into the soft wax, then smoothed the surface over. It was perfect. You’d never know it was there. I turned it on, synced it to an app on my phone, and checked the feed. The view was clear.

I took a deep breath and walked to Felicia’s door. I knocked.

She answered a moment later, and my breath caught in my throat. She was dressed for a night out, wearing a stunning, backless black dress that clung to her every curve. She was putting on a pair of diamond earrings, the final touch on a vision of devastating beauty.

“Oh, hey, neighbor,” she said, her smile as dazzling as ever. “What’s up?”

“Hey,” I said, my voice carefully neutral. “Listen, I just wanted to apologize for earlier. I was stressed out, and I was a dick. I got you something.” I held out the candle.

She took it, a look of genuine surprise on her face. “Oh, Eric, you didn’t have to do that. But thank you, it’s sweet.” Her gaze dropped to my chest, a playful smirk on her lips. “How’s that, uh, ‘allergic reaction’ coming along?” Her tone was so blasé, so utterly un-shocked.

“It’s a real bitch,” I said, playing along.

She thanked me again, then closed the door. I walked back to my apartment, my heart pounding. Lyra immediately reappeared, floating by the kitchen.

“That was sweet!” she chirped. “A candle. You must really want to get in her pants. Better get that penis back first, though!” She winked.

I forced a laugh, praying she couldn't see the lie in my eyes. The rest of the evening was a blur. I heard Felicia’s door close a few minutes later as she left for her night out. Lyra, seemingly bored with my inaction, vanished at almost the exact same time.

Hours passed. I tried to watch a movie, but I couldn’t focus. I just kept staring at my phone, waiting. Around eleven, just as I was starting to doze off on the couch, my phone buzzed.

Motion detected in Felicia’s Living Room.

I sat bolt upright. I checked my apartment. No Lyra. I opened the spy camera app.

The feed flickered to life. The view was perfect, a wide shot of her living room from the mantelpiece where she had placed the candle. Felicia was home. And she wasn't alone.

She was pressed against a wall, her backless dress hiked up to her waist, her perfect, round ass bare. She was locked in a passionate, frantic kiss with a man—a chiseled, impossibly handsome stranger. Her hands were tangled in his hair, his were gripping her ass, his fingers sinking into the soft flesh.

My body reacted before my mind could. A hot, slick pulse of arousal shot through me, and I felt the tell-tale wetness bloom between my legs. My traitorous body was betraying me again.

I watched, mesmerized, as the scene unfolded. It was like watching a high-end porn shoot. He lifted her, and she wrapped her long legs around his waist as he carried her to the couch. What followed was a raw, primal display of pure, unadulterated lust. I couldn’t look away. It was the hottest, most erotic thing I had ever seen, and every thrust, every moan, every slap of flesh on flesh sent a fresh wave of arousal crashing through me.

When it was over, the man got dressed and left without a word. Felicia lay sprawled on the couch, naked, flushed, and utterly satisfied. And then, she did something that made my blood run cold.

She sat up, looked directly towards an empty spot just out of the camera’s frame, and spoke to the empty air.

“Well,” she said, her voice a low, satisfied purr. “Hopefully, that was a little more interesting for you than watching Eric’s boring night in.”

A pause, as if she were listening to a response.

“Yeah, well, we had an entertaining as hell day with him,” she continued, a smirk in her voice. “Makes sense he’d be exhausted and want a chill one… Oh, I think tomorrow will be exactly that… See? I told you he’d be the right one for the app…. Ok, see you tomorrow.”

My phone slipped from my trembling fingers, clattering onto the floor. She was talking to someone. Someone invisible. Someone who had been with me all day.

Was she talking to Lyra?

I snatched my phone up and quickly closed the app, my heart hammering against my ribs. Not a second later, Lyra’s form shimmered into existence beside the couch.

“Heading to bed already, sleepyhead?” she asked, her voice oozing a false innocence.

I stared at her, my mind a maelstrom of betrayal and terror. She knew. She had been with Felicia. They were working together.

Tomorrow, I thought, my hands clenching into fists. Tomorrow, I learn the truth.
