Cheer Not For Roy (FTF) - A Witchy Watson Case
By ThatGuy
The name of the game was football, American football that is, and Quinn had a great seat, right in the center of the bleachers. She had her hot dog, she had her drink, and for once she was more or less happy. It was a feeling that was admittedly pretty alien to her these days. She could imagine Angie’s sarcastic comments already.
This used to be her favorite way to spend an afternoon, before the horrible experience that took her away from the world for three years. She loved sports: mens sports, women’s sports, baseball, football, tennis, soccer, whatever. Give her a good seat and a couple hours to waste and she would be hooting and hollering with the best of them, showing herself a real good time. She used to have a whole group that she would come to these with, like her old roommate Sarah, Terri from English Lit, Annette who didn’t seem to be attending the school at all, and a bunch of others she could name with a smile. She could still remember sitting around heckling the players and gorging on game snacks, making side bets and maybe even flirting a bit if she felt daring. It was great.
But, it was also three years ago.
Most of them had moved on by now. Terri was in grad school, and Sarah was back home. Annette… who knew? Her friends were gone. The players she used to follow were gone. Even one or two of the teams she used to watch simply weren’t a thing any more. Things were different. Seemingly everything was, when it came right down to it.
Except for the games themselves. At least those never changed. And she loved them still. That was something being stuck as an inanimate object wouldn’t take from her.
This wasn’t a major game. Sure, it was her college football team, but the Wranglers were just playing a pick-up with a match local city team. It was far from full stadium material, so they just used one of the open fields. And even with the smaller venue it wasn’t like the stands were overflowing with fans. It was something fun (and free!) to do on the weekend, that's all. And what fun it was!
It was nearly halftime now, and both teams had given it their all: two touchdown each, some amazing catches on both sides, not to mention bringing the pain with a few good defensive plays. There may not have been a rousing mass of fans here, but Quinn at least was on the edge of her seat.
Of course, it would’ve been a lot easier to pay attention if she weren’t there.
She arrived a few minutes a few minutes into the first quarter, and had made herself very difficult to ignore ever since. That what happens when someone practically skips up to the field in a skimpy cheerleading costume. Quinn's jaw drop. Whoever she was, she was absolutely stacked, so much that she practically came off as a parody of an attractive woman.
Quinn had seen bustier coeds, but not many. Between that and the outfit obviously everyone was stopping to look at her. Her “top” exposed her whole midriff and barely kept her large breasts contained, while her skirt was two sizes too short for regulation and only just covered her hips, easily flashing her panties at whoever was watching whenever she bent or turned or even took a big step forward. Her air fell down in long scarlet curls, which bobbed with the rest of her as he hopped along.
The players tried to keep playing, but everyone else there was gawking at her. Even Quinn was stunned. And this seemed like exactly what this girl wanted. As soon as everyone’s eyes were on her, she struck a pose and went into a loud chant:
“Roy’s the best, the rest are not!
He’s cool and strong and super hot!
Gooooo Roy! Hehe!”
She shouted all this while performing a wild, perky cheerleading routine. If she was wearing a bra it was clearly not doing its job because she was bouncing all over the place, her top (which was doing a valiant job of keeping her from spilling out in the first place) stretching tightly as she jumped all over the place doing hi-kicks and dipping over so her butt popped out behind her. The guys in the audience were obviously having a blast. It was what every girl-crazed horndog fantasized about cheerleaders. There were a couple fans who came with their girlfriends that would be nursing black eyes by the end of the game.
Quinn, a sports fan through and through, saw it as a ridiculous display that was just getting in the way of what they were all actually here for.
And she didn’t stop, either. It was twenty minutes later and she was still going. The object of her cheers, the Wranglers’ star quarterback Roy Quentin, was looking extra smug today.
Everyone else on the both teams looked pretty pissed. In some cases it was simply because the busty fangirl wasn’t looking their way, but for others they just didn't seem to like the way Roy swaggered up and down the field after every play even when he didn’t gain any ground. Every time he would pose for his sole supporter while ignoring the dirty looks the other players were giving him. At one point the coach pulled him over, gesturing furiously at the gyrating distraction, but Roy just shrugged and shot her a wink. She practically swooned on the spot.
Clearly Roy himself wasn’t gong to be any help, and they didn’t want this continuing into halftime (who knew what this crazy fangirl would try as a “halftime show”) so finally one of the players asked the coach to call a timeout and walked over. Roy watched, smirking, as he got her to briefly stop her dancing and talk.
Quinn was just close enough that she could hear them. Though then again, the player was annoyed and might have been shouting.
“Are you going to do this all day? We’re trying to focus on the game here!”
The redhead talked in a childish sort of way, but her voice was charged with passion. Quinn could hear her pouting, her tone was so whiny. “I’m gonna keep on going as much as Roy deserves it! Which is a whole lot!”
The player drove his face into his palm. “Look, I don’t know. Can you at least do these cheers about everybody?” It was barely a compromise at all, but it would make the team happy at least. “Roy’s not the only guy out here!”
“Says you!” She snapped back, but with a mischievous giggle in her voice. “But okay! Whatever you say.”
Assuming that was settled, the player turned back to the team as the girl struck a pose and started in on a new chant…
“Come on, Wranglers! Beat ‘em down!
Do your best, don’t let Roy down!
Goooo Ro- I mean, Wranglers! Hehe!
But mostly Roy, tho…”
There was a loud groan from every other player on the field, and the one who went to talk to her cursed as he walked away trying his best to ignore her. Unfortunately this field was a public place and nobody could really force her to leave, even if she was grating on everyone’s nerves, so ignoring her was the best they had. Even the most lascivious men in the audience were starting to lose patience. The only one who was still fully enjoying this was Roy, but Quinn more than anyone was officially past her breaking point.
It wasn’t just that this was annoying, though it was. It was that she knew a fishy situation when she saw it. Working with the world’s best detective (as far as she was concerned, but the she didn't know many others) when it came to suspicious transformations was starting to rub off on her. An extremely buxom coed with a body like a pinup but little evident brains to speak of randomly appears and throws herself beyond reason in adoration for an obnoxious guy who obviously doesn’t deserve the attention? Quinn’s radar was seriously going off, and had been since the moment she first appeared.
But she didn’t want it to go off. Quinn didn’t want to work today. She wanted to watch the game, damnit!
“Gimme an R! Gimme an O! Gimme an-“
She let loose a great, heaing sigh. Obviously, it wasn't as if anybody else could do anything. Grumbling under her breath, Quinn got up from her seat and went down to the side of the field, where the cheerleader was “subtly” shaking her hips in Roy’s direction. She didn't even bother to take the polite approach and strike up a conversation first, she just grabbed the voluptuous twit by the arm and dragged her off the field.
“Hey, can we talk?” She grunted, without needing an answer.
“Can’t it wait?” The other girl squeaked. “Roy’s about to-“
Quinn didn’t bother to listen. She yanked her away before the poor idiot could finish her latest sparkly-eyed comment about her idol’s greatness, though she managed to blow him a kiss goodbye. Some people applauded, and others groaned depending on where the fans stood on “sexy but distracting." Roy looked alarmed, which just served him right. Quinn would deal with him later.
She stopped once they were behind the bleachers and out of sight, so she could work. She had been working on a magical sight spell that should do the trick. It wasn’t perfect like Angie’s but it would at least tell Quinn if she was under any undue effects. Though all the struggling from her subject didn't help.
“C’moooon! I wanna go see Roy!”
“And I’m missing the third down, so shut up and let me finish!”
Quinn almost knocked her out to make this easier, but she thought better of it. It was a pain, but it didn’t take that long to confirm that there was serious magic stamped all over this supposed minx. Some of it was recent of course, but surprisingly some of it was persistent. Someone had done this to her, and it wasn’t difficult to figure out who. But thanks to Quinn’s strong natural magic, it wasn’t anything that couldn't be fixed.
“Can I go back and see Roy now?” The girl said impatiently, tapping her trainers against the grass.
Quinn smiled cheerfully, raising her hand in preparation for a typical spell of reversal. Doing this would be easier if her target could be convinced not to make a fuss. “Sure! In fact, all I wanted to do was give you something that will make Roy really pay attention to you. You never know, he might even take his shirt off!”
It worked, in that she didn’t make any more fuss but did squeal so loudly that Quinn winced. “Awesome! I can’t wait to show… oooooh!”
Quinn took the moment she was distracted to hit her with the reversal. The effect was quick and efficient, just as Quinn liked it. Immediately the cheerleader’s height dropped dramatically, going from a head taller than Quinn to nearly the same amount shorter than her. The mounds on her chest receded, popping back to a more average sized bust and then maybe even a little a little thinner than that. So did her hips, until the exaggerated figure she had sported was gone. Just like that, she was back to looking like a normal person.
Whoever this girl was, she was svelte. Quinn had to make sure to shrink her outfit along with her, or else she might have been barely covering herself in rags that didn’t rightly fit. Yet at the same time she was slimming down, her body was toning up. The cheerleader she had become was all soft edges and round shapes (all the better for a guy like Roy to drool over, no doubt) but the real woman underneath was fit, with an athlete’s build even. In fact there was something familiar about it.
Quinn was almost sure she recognized her, now that she as looking. Those unnaturally bright red curls faded into more of a dark auburn, twisting and shortening themselves into a bunch of short and unassuming braids that were right on the tip of Quinn’s memory.
A classmate, maybe? Whoever she was, she was totally confused. She swayed on her feet, making Quinn grab her shoulder just in case she fell, and gazed bleary eyed into space.
“W-wha’s happening?” She slurred in a dazed sort of way. She shook her head back and forth, trying to get the frilly cobwebs out.
Quinn wasn’t sure how to answer. She tried to think back to how Angie spoke to people she managed to save. “Don’t worry… um… you’re alright now. Do you know where you are?”
“Where I am?” The girl looked around, and her mouth fell into a frown. “Aw, man. Now I remember…” She groaned.
“You’ve just been the victim of… well… it’s complicated,” Quinn said, fumbling through the reassuring speech and wishing that Angie was there. “Do you know who you are?”
The girl looked up at her. More liked glared, really. But the look didn’t seem entirely directed at Quinn. “My name’s Britt.”
Now that jogged her memory. “Britt? Wait… Britt Wilkinson? From the girls’ soccer team?” Quinn realized. That’s where she knew that face from! Figured it would be sports. Smiling, since it wasn’t too often she got the people in this post three-years world straight, she couldn’t resist rattling off a little trivia even though the girl obviously already knew anything she would say. “You scored three times in your last game, which was pretty damn cool if you asked me.”
Britt didn’t smile. If anything, she looked kind of weirded out. Maybe this wasn’t the best time for sports enthusiasm.
But now that she knew who the victim was, she could do a little more. Since the other girl hadn’t looked down yet, Quinn cast a simple spell to change Britt out of the skimpy uniform (if one could call that an “uniform”) before it could embarrass her, and put her into a copy of her soccer uniform instead. The sudden change did make the girl finally notice, with a little surprise, and she stared bewildered up at Quinn. Quinn reddened, just a little. “I’m a sports fan,” she said, as kind of explanation.
“Y-yeah, I can tell,” Britt mumbled. The distraction lasted only so long, and ff Quinn felt a little awkward at her sports fandom it was nothing compared to the tomato red glow coming off Britt’s face. She may not have been dressed like a teenage boy’s cheerleader fantasy any more, but she certainly remembered being one. She looked down at her chest then quickly looked away at the reminder of just how much chest she’d had a minute ago, and what she’d done with it. But Quinn couldn’t tell if she was mortified or furious, she was red but her fists were shaking with something that looked a lot like the second.
Whichever it was, Quinn knew the feeling all too well.
“S-seriously?” Britt hissed under her breath, but not to Quinn. Definitely fury. “I can’t believe that asshole. Sorry, but this is so humiliating…”
“I can imagine.” Quinn said, with a chuckle. Britt shot her a glare, but conceded that Quinn at least had the right to laugh. She went back to serious . “
“Of course it was! Oh, I’m gonna get him so bad, he won’t-“
Quinn put on her serious face. She pushed away from Britt and looked, righteously infuriated, back at the field. Anyone who would do this to someone should pay. “Leave him to me. I’ll take care of him.”
The other girl blinked. “Take care of… oh, shit!” Britt suddenly seemed to realize that this person in front of her was not just helping her get her bearings, but had actually been the one to release her from her ditzy fate. Her eyes widened, though Quinn had no idea why she looked so intimidated by her. “I-I’ve heard of you! Oh, crap… you’re that crazy witch girl who’s been doing the magic Punisher thing all over campus, right?”
That was surprising. As far as Quinn was aware, she didn’t have a reputation. Especially since the average student wasn’t even supposed to know magic existed. Also…
“Crazy witch girl?”
Britt flushed. “When you get caught up in stuff like this you hear things, alright?”
“Crazy witch girl?”
Britt put her hands up in an attempt to calm Quinn down. To Quinn’s confusion, she was all of a sudden more panicked than angry. “Sorry, it’s just… look, don’t do whatever it is you’re thinking you’re doing!” She pleaded, like a kid caught in a mess. “It was just a prank!”
“A prank.” Quinn grimaced, and grabbed Britt’s shoulder again. “Wait, I’ll give it another go. Looks like there might still be a few effects leftover…”
But Britt shrugged her off, bristling in a way that made Quinn feel like an opposing player about to get charged. “Get off! I’m in my right mind, okay? It might be hard to believe-“
“-hard to believe? Yeah, duh.” The witch replied incredulously, crossing her arms. She didn’t know what was going on here, but someone was getting a lecture. “Look. You seem like a pretty tough, confident, take-no-guff kind of woman. The kind who tends to intimidate men like Roy. So the guy turns you from that into practically a porn star with no brains, fanatically devoted to him, and you honestly want me to believe it was an innocent prank? And not the way more obvious answer that he was just trying to-”
“Yes I do, so shut up!” This time Britt blushed even harder, but she didn’t back down. “I swear, it’s not like that! We’re not, he’s not… no, way! I don’t even want to think about that!” She stuck out her tongue in an exaggerated look of disgust. Quinn wasn’t moved, so reluctantly Britt had to explain further.
“It’s like this,” she said with a sigh. “There’s this… thing. We found it. It’s like a charm. We think it’s magic. I guess it was supposed to let people change themselves, but since we both found it together it only lets us change each other. One of us can make the other change for a while, then it wears off and control of it swaps hands. So I would’ve been fine!”
She shot the last part at Quinn, but wilted when the witch just rolled her eyes. ”Well, eventually. Me and Roy have been… ugh, not friends.” She said evasively. “But super close, for years. Thing is, we fight a lot, so we started using the charm to mess with each other. I made fun of him last week about how he’s like the most forgettable guy on the team, so my guess is he got me back by… you know.” She mimed having enormous breasts, then struck a pose with a rough imitation of her cheerleader self’s perky voice. “Go Roy! Hehe! Ugh…” She scowled but, maybe in an attempt to keep Quinn from thinking it was a problem, she tried not to seem as angry as before.
This was baffling. Angie had told Quinn before about people who used magic on themselves and others recreationally, but she hadn’t believed it. It seemed like a completely ridiculous notion that anyone would ever do that. And yet here she was, staring at someone exactly that ridiculous.
Even so, she wasn’t completely convinced. “And how sure are you that he feels the same way? Do I have to remind you how you looked? How you were acting? I’ve seen strippers less provocative than that!” She said a little too loudly. She may have been losing her cool a bit on that point (maybe she had a complex about sensual behavior? She didn’t know). ”A body like that? Any other guy would’ve had plans after the game, if you know what I mean. It’s not like you would have said no.”
But Britt rolled her eyes this time. “Ten to one says his ‘plans’ were to turn me back and rub it in my face as bad as possible, and maybe force me to do it on video first as blackmail - as if that would save him! Look, I appreciate it, but I’m just gonna need you to trust me when I say we’ve done way worse to each other.” Quinn had to take her word for it, seeing as she seemed so confident about it. In fact she outright smirked, and without waiting for Quinn she started to stroll back to the field. “Just let me handle him, okay?” She called over his shoulder, sounding unnervingly devious all of a sudden.
That was fair enough. As of that moment, Quinn had decided she no longer wanted to know anyway. So she waved it off and let Britt take the lead, trying her best to sigh so hard that it made the awkward situation go away. “Okay, whatever. I’ll let it go for now. You guys have your little games. It’s not any of my business how you flirt, I guess…”
Britt stopped short, choking badly. She turned back to Quinn with her face newly red. “I just said it’s not like that, jeez!” She hissed, though it would take a hell of a lot to get Quinn to buy that at this point. When Quinn only shrugged, she whirled back around and sped ahead twice as quickly, and three times as stiffly, gruffly trying to ignore the look the witch was giving her back and muttering under her breath. Quinn couldn’t help another laugh, which only got Britt to stumble even more off balance. People and their games…
Quinn went back to the stands. If she understood what was happening like she thought she did, Britt wouldn’t need her presence any more (and was probably too embarrassed to want it right now). Unfortunately, they had totally missed the rest of the quarter, just perfect! The team was in the middle of a short halftime break instead, so she shuffled back to her seat as a couple people stared at her. They were probably wondering where the busty cheerleader had gotten off to. She wasn’t about give them an answer, so instead she sat down and watched the show.
As she thought, Britt was just fine by herself. She soccer star stomped up to where the players were huddled, steaming like a teapot and stomping holes in the dirt. She waited until Roy noticed her coming (the petrified look on his face was priceless) before letting loose a thunderous shout.
“ROY, YOU ASSHOLE!”
They could hear the high pitched shriek that somehow came out of Roy’s mouth from all the way in the stands. Quinn grinned madly, as the rest of the crowd just looked confused. This was even better than a halftime show!
The formerly smug athlete turned on his heel and bolted from the huddle, without even stopping to tell the coach he was leaving - he was just out of there! Britt was well in pursuit, kicking at his heels and cursing as the two left the field and rounded the street out of sight. Quinn could hear them arguing in the distance for a while, until finally they were gone. Nobody but her had any idea what was going on, but she was loving it.
Luckily for the rest of the game, none of the player seemed to care much that Roy had left. They just laughed at what they assumed was girl trouble (they didn’t know the half) and put in a second stringer. In fact, they seemed to play even better now that he was gone, which probably said a lot.
The rest of the game was just the way she liked it. Lots of nail biting moments, a couple more amazing plays, and even better no distractions at all. The school team won by a nose, but a good effort was had by all. Quinn had no complaints. In fact, she was the loudest voice cheering in the crowd.
There was no sign of either Britt nor Roy for the rest of the day. Quinn didn’t know either that well, so she had no way of tracking them down, but she made sure to tell Angie about them the next time they met just in case their extremely bizarre “rivalry” (or whatever it was) turned into something more serious. Angie didn’t seem especially concerned, to Quinn’s irritation, but she said she would make a note of it and went on to other things, which was better than nothing.
But that wasn’t all.
The next weekend found Quinn back in the stands for another pickup game. The Wranglers were all set to win another one, and she was ready with her hotdog and foam finger all ready. But Roy, she noticed, wasn’t there: there was no sign of him with the team. But Britt was, high up in the stands. When she spotted Quinn she waved Quinn over to a seat next to her, wearing that same unsettling sort of grin, and as the witch sat down she pointed gleefully to the grounds with an evil chuckle. Clearly, she had gotten her payback somehow. And Quinn didn’t have to wonder too long about what crazy thing she had done in retaliation for last week’s humiliation.
The team was very amused: someone, it seems, had suspiciously sent them a new mascot that morning as a prank. To be exact, an unknown person had delivered to the game a fully grown, very fussy dairy cow - a female one, naturally, with nice, bulging udder. It was perfect for a team called the Wranglers! For all they knew it had come out of nowhere, with no clue who sent it or how they managed to get it to a field in the middle of town without anyone seeing, but they went with the flow.
Nobody really knew what to do with it so they kept it off to the side for now, where it chowed own on grass and attracted the laughter of the crowd. There were plans to call animal control afterwards but until then everyone had a grand time, except the cow. They all agreed (though the pervs in the audience did a bit begrudgingly) that it was just as great as distraction as the one the week before, if not quite as sexy. By the end of it nobody was mentioning Roy or his shameless fangirl at all. They were too busy chuckling every time a moo came from downfield. And nobody was enjoying that anywhere near as much as Britt, for reasons that would remain with her and Quinn alone.
And when it came right down to it, Quinn still didn’t really want to know. As they sat there cackling and jeering and watching the game she accepted that at least now she had someone she could talk about sports with. Though if she’d had the choice, maybe she might have preferred someone less… what was the word Britt had used? “Crazy?”
She could hear Angie’s sarcastic comments already…
