Dear Mom:

I know I haven't written to you since I left home, and I'm sure you've probably
been wondering how I'm doing.  So I'm sending you this letter, along with some
presents for Mike and Susan, along with something for you and Dad.  I'm certain
he's still angry with me for leaving the farm, but he's got Mike who I know
enjoyed being a farmer more than I ever would.

First, the important news.  I've been doing well since moving here to the Las
Vegas area.  There's quite a number of clubs here and a very active nightlife,
which really has given me quite a few opportunities.  I've developed a small
following among the industry, one person from a company named Insomniac has
helped me a lot in putting me in touch with some of the contacts in the music
industry, along with the various clubs.  Just in the last month I performed at
one of the small clubs at a Harrah's hotel/casino, as well as at the Venetian's
Tao nightclub.

I've been invited to perform in Miami in March of next year, and will be
performing at the big event here in Las Vegas in June.  That'll give me even
more exposure to the music audience, both of those tend to be very heavily
attended events.  We're talking like 100,000 people, all in the infield of the
Las Vegas Motor Speedway here.  I know, that's like attending the Iowa State
football games, but we're talking music from sundown to sunrise.

I've also released my first original track, called "Solar Dream."  It was
released on a label called Touchstone and has been played by several others as
part of their sets.  I'm really happy for that, even if they're using the stage
name I've taken, Kyl E.

On a personal level, I have been doing quite well.  I'm still sharing a house
with the two young ladies I know I've told you I met online, Keri Terrance and
Tasha Galvez.  Both are attending the University of Las Vegas, Keri's getting a
degree in business management while Tasha is getting hers in graphics design.
Keri's been helping with managing my jobs, while Tasha's enjoying herself
working on some of the light displays that go on while I'm on stage.

All three of us share chores and we all chip in for the rent and bills.
Although I'll be honest, I'm thinking of buying this place, it's really a nicely
designed home and has room enough for me to work on my music without annoying
them or the neighbors.

We have a really good working relationship, talking out whatever problems come
up and solving them without causing any real strife or anger.  Oh, we have our
days, but they're usually short-lived because we care about each other too much
to lose a good thing.

And yes, I love both of them.  When I said we have a good working relationship,
that included personal relationships.  I know Dad would have a cow, being the
old hard-line person he is, but I know you'd understand.  It's not the same any
more, society has changed quite a bit over the last few years just as I have.
If that means I'll be 'living in sin' as Dad would put it, well, so be it.
You've always had my best interests at heart, and I love you for that as well.

Maybe one of these days I'll be able to bring you and Dad out for a visit, but I
know how resistant he'd be to the idea.  Or I might swing by for a short visit
between festivals.  But I will see you again soon.

Take care, ok?  Love, your son Kyle.

Kyle sighed and sealed up the letter, then attached it to the package intended
for his mother.  Gathering them up, he walked down the hall to the living room,
where Tasha was sitting working on a tablet.

"Gifts for the family?" she asked, looking up from her work.

"Yeah, still need to meet that obligation."  He sighed a bit.  "Mind getting the
door for me?"

She stood up.  "I'll do better, I'll go with you."

"Thanks."  He picked up the packages again and headed out with Tasha closing the
door behind him.  They went over to Kyle's new car, a Honda Accura that replaced
the old reliable Taurus.  Kyle placed the packages in the trunk, then got into
the driver's seat, looking over at Tasha.

"You know you don't need to come with me," he said.

Tasha chuckled.  "No, I didn't, but I wanted to  Give me a break away from work,
and maybe a chance to find something to wear for the New Years Eve party."

"Oh god, I've forgotten about that."  Kyle sighed, remembering that he was going
to take both Keri and Tasha to Hakkasan for the celebration.  "I'm guessing the
two of you are going to merge together for that?"

"Damned straight we are," Tasha replied.  "We both want to have one hell of a
banging time with you, on the dance floor and in bed afterwards."

He had to laugh as he drove onto the main street, heading towards a UPS Store.
"God, what am I going to do with you two?" he asked, clearly teasing Tasha.  For
her part, she merely giggled.

Leaning over, she kissed him on the cheek.  "What you usually do, hun.  Love
us for what we are."

Your sky is mine
I walk beneath it
Not alone
When I call your name
You always answer

And everytime I
Begin to doubt you
You give me more love
No hesitation
You come to me when
My heart is beating
So hard I can not breathe
