Thursday, March 27
A noise in the cabin woke Ryan, instantly aware that something was wrong. He
heard the sound again, of scuffing feet on the carpet.
"Caroline," he whispered, waking her up. "We've got a problem."
"What?" she replied softly, then heard the sound. "What is that?"
"I don't know, but I'm going to find out." With that, he separated from the
sheet, turning into an invisible cloud of water vapor, and floated out into the
hallway. There, he saw two figures out of the living room windows, one bending
down to try and work on the lock.
He floated back into the bedroom, and took a fox form. "We've got company
trying to break in," he quietly said. "Probably saw the car and the lights, and
figured they had an easy target."
She extracted herself from the bed, becoming a small vixen. "What should we
do?"
Ryan thought a moment, then an evil grin appeared. "Let's give them a rather
warm surprise."
---
"Will you hurry it up? It's freezing."
Daniel looked up at Thomas, and sighed. "Look, this is not the easiest lock to
pick. It's a double dead-bolt, and it takes time to open it."
"Well, this place had better be worth it," Thomas said.
Daniel shook his head. "Will you quit worrying about that? Who cares if it's
worth it or not? These folks are probably one of those rich people, we just
catch them asleep and make a bundle from them for their freedom."
"I don't like that idea," Thomas told Daniel. "I'm ok with just grabbing the
television and whatever jewelry they've got."
"Look, will you quit worrying about it?" A soft click was heard, and Daniel
stood up. "There's it's open."
"You'd better think twice about going in there," an icy voice said behind them.
Daniel and Thomas both turned to see a tall, thin woman with long silver hair
and a very thin, sheer outfit around her body. "You see, we're the protectors
here, and we don't like intruders."
Daniel took a step back, but Thomas instead walked down the steps towards the
figure. "What do you mean we? I just see you, and you're not armed."
A very deep rumbling sound came from the woods, and a pair of firey red eyes
peered out of the darkness. "No, human, she may not be armed. But I certainly
am."
With that, a large draconian head appeared in the light, a head that was
attached to an equally long neck. "I certainly could use a meal tonight, and
roast human does sound tasty."
Daniel let out of scream of horror, and Thomas stood frozen at the sight. "I'll
give you to the count of three, the dragon said, "and you had better be running.
And don't stop, because if I catch you..." He let out a blast of flame, the
heat melting the nearby snow.
Daniel grabbed Thomas. "Let's get out of here!" he yelled, as the dragon
started to rear back. The silver haired woman merely smiled, a touch evilly,
and Daniel yanked Thomas' arm. "Run!"
The two began running down the dirt road, and they heard the sound of the dragon
behind them, his feet making a deep thumping sound of doom. "Just keep running!
Daniel screamed, as they felt the heat of another blast of fire behind them.
"Don't stop! Whatever you do, don't stop!"
The two would-be robbers disappeared into the darkness of the forest, still
running down the dirt road. Ryan slowly stopped, listening to their fading
steps, then turned and slowly walked back to the cabin, rumbling softly to
himself.
There, Caroline sat on the porch steps, desperately trying not to laugh. "Oh,
gods, that was perfect. They probably won't stop running until they reach
Boulder at the very least."
Ryan gave a draconian grin, then shrank down in size and took on a more morphic
appearance. He sat down next to Caroline, wrapping a wing around her. "You
made a great snow elf, I just loved their expression when they saw you standing
there unfazed by the cold." He tilted his head in amusement. "And if they
tried to tell folks what happened, they'd simply think they were seeing things
or drunk."
"Or both." Caroline giggled, her form becoming similar to Ryan's. She let out
a soft rumble of her own and snuggled up against him. "Mmmm, care to find out
how dragons get it on?"
Ryan snorted. "I can guess," he replied, wrapping his wings around her.
---
Wood crackled as a fire burned merrily in the fireplace, warming up the room.
Outside, the first rays of sunrise were beginning to color the clouds, making
the sky a symphony of reds, pinks and oranges.
Standing in the center of the room was a marble statue, two figures twined
together in a clearly erotic pose. The face of the male figure was Ryan, an
expression of bliss visible while the female figure was graced with Caroline's
face, head tossed back with the look of one in the throes of passion.
Occasionally there would be some movement, a hand squeezing a stone breast, hips
slowly grinding together.
Once they tired of being marble, their forms turned silvery and melted to the
floor. There, Carline led Ryan into becoming clouds of silver, their forms
mingling on a nearly sub-atomic level, a form of intimacy that words fail to
accurately describe.
After a period of ecstasy as clouds, the pair shrank down into a pair of balls
of light, light that turned into tiny pixies that flitted about the living room.
They played a game of tag after a while, tag that had them zipping through each
other repeatedly.
They zipped through the windows and outside where they became a pair of human-
like eagles, flying through the trees and into the air to soar happily for a
while. Even then, they'd fly past each other, touching and teasing until they
joined together in a passionate embrace, making love while their wings caught
updrafts to carry them higher into the air.
Once they both were well sated, they drifted back down to the ground and retook
their human shapes again. They cuddled and snuggled each other, both quite
euphoric from their escapades so far this day. Ryan kissed Caroline soundly,
and softly rumbled.
"And I thought I had a vivid imagination," he said softly, nuzzling her hair.
"You make me look like an amateur in this," he added teasingly.
Caroline let out a soft laugh at that. "Oh, you do well enough, hun. It's so
hard sometimes to get Lexi or Gena to get creative with me, but you? You love
it just as much as I do."
Ryan had to chuckle at that. "Having a kinky, crazy, horny lover helps," he
said, earning himself a tickling by Caroline. He laughed and batted at her
hands, as she added six more to tickle him with. "See? How many would even
want to have that many arms??"
"Not too many," Caroline admitted. "But I love the changing, the pleasures, the
way it feels when I transform into other things."
Ryan nodded. "Mmm, true, but we still have to deal with our lives, and that
means dealing with those who can't accept things like what we do."
Caroline sighed softly in agreement. "Even Lexi can't always understand why I
like it," she said. "And she's one of my oldest and closest friends."
"People change, hun," Ryan gently reminded her. "And I don't mean physically, I
mean mentally. All you can do is just accept her as she is, and try to make the
best of it."
Caroline sighed again. "I'd like her to accept you as well, both of us have fun
with her."
"That's her choice," Ryan said. "If she wants to join in the fun, well, she's
welcomed. But I seem to recall a memory of yours that she's been burned before
by former male lovers."
"She has, yeah," Caroline grudgingly admitted. "But you're different."
Ryan kissed Caroline lightly. "Not that much different, just a slightly
different mind set than most." A breeze blew past, and Ryan shivered a bit.
"Mmm, I think the weather's changing, hun. We'd better get inside."
Caroline was already one step ahead of him, turning into a rather sexy looking
wolf morph. Ryan grinned at her, then transformed as well and together they
sauntered back to the cabin for the night.

Ryan's cellphone chirped with the EAS message, but neither he nor Caroline heard
the warning sound. They were one with the couch in the living room, comfortably
resting together, their bodies and minds merging and separating as they slept.
Outside, the snow began to fall.
