It had been five years since the Clone Wars ended and Supreme Chancellor Palpatine restructured the Galactic Republic into an empire. Because Ahsoka Tano, a togruta and former apprentice to Anakin Skywalker, had left the Jedi order before the formation of the empire, she was spared when the killing began, but to ensure her safety, she had been hiding on the farming moon of Raada under an alias. It was here, at a cantina, that Ahsoka was mulling over a drink.
“You know, Ashla,” Selda the togruta bartender said, “That drink would be a lot more effective if you drank it instead of stared at it “
“You know, I’m not sure if I even want it anymore.” Ahsoka (going by the name Ashla) replied. “I’ve just got a lot on my mind right now.”
Selda sighed as he cleaned a glass, his mechanical arm whirring, “Alright, what’s on your mind?”
“Well…” Ahsoka began, unsure about how much she should reveal, “When I was a kid, I put a lot of faith in some people and well, it didn’t work out. Ever since then, I’ve just been living day to day, no real purpose. I know there’s something I should do but I…don’t know where to start.”
“A soldier without a mission, eh? Well, I’m sure something will come up if you keep your eyes open.”
“Or listen to the force” Ahsoka thought to herself.
Ahsoka paid for her drink and hopped into her speeder bike, driving wherever the force took her. Hours later, she felt an unsettling presence in the force and, turning in that direction, arrived in a village whose frightful residents spoke of a witch or sorceress who had taken up residence in the nearby temple. As she entered the temple, she could sense the presence of the dark side within its walls, which grew stronger the deeper she went. When she saw the yellow togruta clad in dark red robes, Ahsoka’s lightsabers flashed on before she even realized she was holding them.
“Put those things away,” the sorceress commanded in disgust, “You can not harm me with them.”
“Your mind tricks don’t work on me!” Ahsoka snapped back, sensing the dark side in the woman’s every word, “You’re to leave this place and leave the village alone.”
“Courage? That’s a new reaction. Who are you?” the sorceress had her back turned to Ahsoka, seemingly more occupied with her data pad.
“My name isn’t important. Now surrender or fight!” Ahsoka growled, getting annoyed.
“I choose…fight!” the woman hissed, wheeling around and flinging the shorter of Ahsoka’s weapons out of her hand with a wave of the fingers.
Ahsoka may not have been a Jedi anymore, but she still remembered her training. Using the force to enhance her speed, she leaped to the witch and slashed at her with her remaining lightsaber, only for it to have no effect! She continued to hack away, but the blade always disappeared a few inches from her target. A flick of the witch’s ring finger sent Ahsoka crashing into the far wall, which grew around her arms, her legs and even her head tails! The yellow woman slowly walked to Ahsoka’s lightsaber and picked it up.
“Let me educate you about how the force really works.” She said, approaching Ahsoka, “The force is comprised of, and saturates, everything, right? So really, everything that exists is an extension of myself… you, the wall, this weapon…” (the lightsaber rusted into nothingness in her hand) “It’s not like what some Jedi thought where you’re limited to a few tricks like a trained animal. Moving stuff, sensing stuff…you all lack imagination! The force can do anything you can think of, just so long as you- GAH!”
As the witch was in the middle of her monologue, Ahsoka had called on the force to send the remaining saber right at the dark side user’s head! The woman dodged, but not quite in time as the blade sliced off her right horn. With a snarl, the woman glared at the lightsaber, causing it to explode.
“If reality is what you make it, why did you just cut off your own horn?” Ahsoka asked defiantly
“I wasn’t focused on being… you know what? Forget it! It seems you need another demonstration of my power….”
Weeks later, In the Imperial Palace, the sorceress, her horn regrown, entered the great halls, having been invited to one of Emperor Palpatine’s grand balls. In such events, it was common to show off fanciful and exotic clothes, but amid the various silks and hides, the witch’s dress was the one that turned heads. At first glance, it resembled a sleeveless mini dress which hugged her body, but then one would notice the unique pattern: it resembled an orange togruta woman: her head tails made up the straps, her eyes on the chest of the outfit and her lips wrapped around the top of the gown, over the top of the breasts and under the arm. There were even arm and leg patterns on the dress, wrapped around the wearer’s torso so that It looked like the dress was hugging the wearer and grabbing the rear. What was most impressive was the eyes. The various imperial nobles wondered among themselves what kind of fabric would allow the eyes to move, change expression and even tear up on occasion.
If the witch was looking to make an impression, she certainly had! But poor Ahsoka was not having as much fun. The witch left her not only with her mind but her senses as well: she could see what the Emperor had done to the old Jedi temple, hear as the witch mingled and acquired about a position among the Imperial Inquisitors, felt herself wrapped tightly around this woman’s body, smelled her heavy perfume and tasted her sweat and skin. Ahsoka couldn’t move, save her eyes. But then she remembered what the sorceress had said: the force was limited only by her imagination. As soon as the sorceress stopped paying attention to her, Ahsoka could change herself back. It was just a matter of choosing the most opportune time....
