“What do you think is inside the egg, Fran?”
“I have no idea, but hurry up, will you?”
To the average person on campus, Fan and Fran seemed like the closest of sisters; they were almost always seen together, they were both geniuses (Fan at history, Fran at math), and they tended to dress to match each other. They even had the same shade of bright red hair. But they shared a secret: they weren’t really sisters at all, but only pretended to be. While it was true they had grown up together, what they really meant was they were neighbors and their parents tended to drag them to the same Irish American Club. When they went to college, their becoming roommates was a no brainer. But there weren’t a lot of redheads on campus, so the two were often mistaken for sisters, something they leaned into in order to mess with people. They sometimes would do something rather unsisterly, like grab the other’s ass in public just to watch people do a double take. Fan and Fran weren’t girlfriends, but they spent so much time around the other that privacy was more lax and more topics of discussion were open.
“Why did you stop?”
“Hang on, I’m answering a text.”
“Oh, okay. Say, is this going to affect our bet?”
“If you mean me giving up, then dream on, sister.”
Their love of pretending and messing with people drew the attention of OnO, who thought the girls would make good members, being both playful and smart. A year later and the two were in the middle of a (so far) week-long endurance contest with everlasting vibrators. Loser does the other’s homework for a month. But now they had this Easter egg hunt to take care of. The frat boys must have been getting lazy since the girls found three eggs just by walking the perimeter; they hadn’t even gone more than halfway around! Of course, they could have gotten done a lot sooner if they didn’t get distracted by every bird, stray cat or cute boy.
Fan was doing her challenge already, as she had to glue herself to another sorority member. Fran couldn’t do hers though, as it simply said “All other eggs combined.”
“Do you think we could convince anyone we’re conjoined twins?” Fran asked, looking past her and Fan’s pink tank tops to their identical navy blue miniskirts. Both were lifted up in the rear so that their now bare bottoms could touch directly (panties would just get in the way), and they would remain that way until the newbies were free. There was so much glue, the brush they used was like a paintbrush! No way were they getting apart.
“Probably not. We’re sophomores, so like ¾ of the school has seen us apart.”
“More like 70% if you consider transfers and dropouts. But let’s get going. I want to give the Leader her egg.”
Back at OnO headquarters, the sound of a closing door made the Leader jump.
“Stacey, please tell me that’s you.” But when she saw who it was, her face fell.
“-not my fault she collapsed! How was I supposed to know Dottie couldn’t support my weight? I’m only a foot and a half taller than her! Oh, hi Leader!”
Standing in the threshold was a red-faced Felicity, her endless string of rants and expletives rendered unintelligible by the rubber thing in her mouth. She was carrying Hiti, who sported some very red feet and seemed to not care that Felicity was straining under the burden. Some high school freshman (Dottie, she assumed) shuffled in afterwards, looking very tired and dirty.
“I don’t have time to ask.” The Leader said, “Quickly, Felicity, put Hiti down!”
Crash!
“Dottie, you’re needed for a break in.”
“What!?”
“Hiti, stop the twins from reaching the sorority house for as long as possible.”
“Make Felicity do it.”
“She can’t talk! And the others are exhausted from carrying your ungrateful lazy ass all the way here! Look, I’ll make this short: The twins have the last fake egg and my phone’s dead. The real egg is somewhere in the dog house! I need someone small and unassuming to slip in and find it before Fan and Fran show up.”
“Um…” Dottie piped up. “I think I have a better idea.” The Leader was taken aback. Dottie, showing initiative? Since when did that happen? The small crossdresser continued,
“Felicity, give the Leader your phone.”
“Mmph?”
“Leader, call the girls. They need to pick up and a call will seem more urgent than a text but faster than a messenger. I’ll break in, I’m disguised anyway, but we need a distraction. Hiti, you’re good at getting people to do what you want. Keep them busy for a twenty-minute window. I’ll handle the rest.”
Everyone stared at Dottie, who immediately retreated behind an armchair.
“I’m sorry! It was a stupid idea!”
“No, don’t be!” The Leader said, “I just never knew you had a knack for strategy.”
“Well, when you live with a sister like mine…never mind. We’re wasting time!”
Across the street, the doorbell rang. A member of the frat answered and the other ABO members didn’t think much of it until the shouting match began.
“I said I want my laptop back, you prick!”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about!”
“Do I have to come in there and get it!? Now!”
As the other members went to the front door to see what was up, Dottie slipped in the back and made her way upstairs. The first thing she noticed was just how spotless everything was. It was as though they had the place professionally done, or like they were expecting guests. In general the house was…weirdly quaint. With its pastel colors and dainty decorations, it was almost like a doll house or something from a 1950s picture book. Not at all something she would call a dog house.
While searching a two story house in under twenty minutes was tough, especially as, Dottie remembered, she might have been the first Omicron sister to ever step foot in there, she knew a thing or two about hiding places, having to hide many things herself growing up. So she began to eliminate the most obvious places; under a mattress, on a top shelf, in an underwear drawer (who the hell folds their underwear?). Then, under the bathroom sink, she found… a notebook. It outlined a number of egg ideas, as well as their hiding places. It even included speculation on who would find which egg, based on the psychological makeup of each member. It was the part at the bottom that made her blood run cold, however,
Real Egg: Keep hidden in house. When Omicron girl (someone with a Choleric personality) demands the real key, transfer into Leader Emric’s pants pocket. When denied, they will try a break in. Hiti will cause a distraction. This will be Leader Emric’s cue to wait for the burglar (presumably either Dottie or Felicity) to go upstairs, then run like hell. Thief, I know you’re reading this. So I’ll just say “Nice try, but no one can outsmart Alpha Beta Omega”.
