(M to Rainbow Dash)

Kyle looked down to the package in his hands. It seemed so small and inconsequential like this, and yet he knew that something about it was magical. There was no explaining how he knew, just that it was one of those feelings deep in his chest, deep in his soul.

Or maybe it was the fact that that literal succubus had promised it would grant his innermost desire.

“Yeah, it was probably that,” he chuckled anxiously.

Kyle’s hands shook as he worked at the wrapping. It was crudely taped, and wrapped in brown paper. To the rest of the world, it might have looked like junk. However, the more he opened, the warmer it grew. That alone told him there was something mystical at work, and for a moment he felt hope.

It was supposed to be a spellbook, a magical tome that held every magic a human would need in the span of an ephemeral life. It was supposed to be her spellbook.

There was a certain irony to having to use a tome to summon another, but the humor was lost on Kyle as he continued to unwrap, continued to unwrap. Doubt began to creep into his mind as more and more packing was revealed to be little more than air. Where he once had felt a book, he now couldn’t feel anything but paper.

“No way, that’s not—” Kyle stopped as the last of it came undone. There was but a single scrap of paper on it, with a single phrase. Disappointment melted into relief as he read the words aloud, and watched them fade into memory.

He smiled, then sprinted from his room to his bathroom. The words were a spell, and a set of instructions alike. The spell was nonverbal, initiated by a sense of longing and made permanent by a sense of completion. The instructions were to feel that sense of longing, and to speak his desires aloud.

Kyle’s eyes met with his reflection’s, and he saw his lips move in his peripheral vision. “I am Rainbow Dash.”

It was embarrassing to say aloud, even alone like this. He felt a flush of shame creep into his giddiness. What if someone saw him like this? What if someone knew how he thought, how he felt? He considered leaving the spell as it was, and chalking it up to a dream.

Kyle was stronger than he gave himself credit for. Resolve bloomed in his heart, and he took a deep, calming breath. His cheeks felt warm as he looked at his reflection again, concentrating. That feeling of longing ached at his heart, and he repeated himself.

“I… am Rainbow Dash.”

There was that sense of embarrassment, but also one of pride and exhilaration. The latter won out over the former as he saw a violet hue swirl around his iris, coloring his gaze. The young man gasped with pure delight, fluttering his eyelids to confirm what he was seeing.

It was real. It was really real. He had purple eyes. He had Rainbow Dash’s eyes. Quickly, he looked to his hair, his breath catching as he spoke again. “I am Rainbow Dash.”

It came out a little hurried, but that didn’t keep his body from changing. His hair lengthened, short-cropped locks dropping over his right eye. At the same time, the hair along the back of his neck cascaded past his shoulders, almost like some sort of mane.

Kyle felt so happy that he could nearly explode on the spot. He reached for his longer hair, combing his hands through it. Color streaked along the flowing strands, fiery at the front and cool behind his head. Depending on how he angled his head, he could see himself either with hair the color of an ardent blaze, or with flowing locks the shade of an ocean’s edge.

“I am Rainbow Dash.” The words came naturally, and his body ached. His shoulders pulled back, hips pushing forward. Air pushed from his lungs as his masculine frame dwindled, and as his arms and legs took on a new muscle.

It wasn’t that he wasn’t healthy before. Though he wasn’t an athlete, Kyle still held some muscle. However, that was human muscle, and was ill-suited for a life on all fours. He lost much of his capacity to lift and climb, biceps and thighs shrinking in favor of forearm and calf muscles.

They tightened with a warm, flowing sensation, and Kyle closed his eyes, stretching out his body. “I am Rainbow Dash, I am Rainbow Dash!” More changes, faster and faster. His hands and feet balled up, cutely forming hooves. A sky blue washed over his skin, giving him a cartoonish appearance.

Best of all, Kyle felt good. He felt like he’d just slept for a dozen hours, and had woken to Christmas morning. His eyes opened to find he was barely three feet tall, and yet every inch of height had doubled his energy and excitement.

Kyle lowered his chest to the floor, wiggling his feminine, Equestrian hips. Then he jumped, literally leaping from his clothes to land atop his bathroom counter. The jump was as easy as walking, and a whelming wave of pride surged through his body.

He was greeted by a reflection more pony than human. Kyle still had his face, but the rest of his body looked like a pony’s, save for his tail and his wings. Or… Rather, her tail and wings. Kyle giggled, wiggling her cute rear, seeing the smooth curves of her body as a blessing.

“I am Rainbow Dash.” She spoke again, and groaned as wings flowed from her back. It was like mercury poured into an angelic crucible, the blue horsefeathers fluttering faintly as new bones developed beneath her shoulderblades.

Kyle leaned forwards, this time stretching like a cat. She looked to her wings, fluttering them with an instinctive ease that was nearly too good to be true. Then she looked back to her reflection, to her old face. It looked so funny, surrounded by multicolor hair and graced with expressive female eyes.

“I,” Kyle began. She wanted to savor this.

Her blue nose twitched and tingled. She watched her nostrils slowly begin to widen on her face, the tip of her nose sinking back towards the rest of her features. She looked almost amphibian for a moment, before her face began to extend.

“Ahm,” Kaidahe stuck out her tongue, wanting this more than anything.

It pulsed, throbbed, and swelled. She squealed with innocent delight, watching her human broaden into a proper pony’s. It lightened to a rosy pink, a shade normally reserved for cartoons and coloring books. It was heavy too, hanging past her thickening lower lip.

“Rainbow,” Kaindashe’s voice took on a raspy, sandpapery tone. It was one of childlike bravery and brashness, of a girl who wouldn’t be bested by anyone.

Her jaw creaked further out, and she curled her lips into a smile. It was incredible how perfect she looked, how she looked exactly like she was straight out of the cartoon. Her smile was perfectly reflected on her equine visage, with her lips curling upwards towards her crinkled purple eyes.

“Dash!” Kainbo Dashe groned, something foggy settling in across her mind. She knew she wanted it, and so she didn’t resist. Memories of a human life became dreams, and all former stresses and woes vanished from her mind as though they’d never even existed.

She looked to her reflection, pressing her snout so close to the mirror that she fogged it with every breath. She looked almost perfect, from her blue face to her supple blue butt. She wiggled it, looking to her backside. Her mouth opened to repeat the spell, but… She felt silly.

It wasn’t like before. Before, she’d felt a rush of shame, of embarrassment at her own actions. She’d felt something that her new life couldn’t comprehend. Now, she felt silly because it seemed so obvious to say.

So, she improvised.

“I’m me!” Rainbow Dash giggled, yelping in faint surprise as a massive multicolored tail erupted from the base of her spine. It flicked to and fro like it was happy to taste freedom, and she watched the hypnotic rainbow flutter giddily.

Her wings fluttered, and Rainbow Dash looked into her mirror one last time. Her heart welled with cocky pride, and she knew she had to finish the spell before she could fully appreciate herself. Slowly, she took a deep breath in, and let it out.

“And Equestria is my home.” Rainbow Dash spoke surely, confidently. She watched the world spiral around herself, like wet ink that had been smeared on a canvas. Everything grew dizzying for a second, then the second passed and she was in an open field.

The wind kissed at her wings, and she felt its caress on her blue form. Her hips tingled, and she turned her mane-heavy neck towards the source of the sensation. Sure enough, a beautiful cloud settled along her thigh, complete with a stylized rainbow.

“Oh, yeah!” Rainbow Dash giggled, prancing, literally prancing, with delight. “I knew I could do it! I’m the best, I am SO the best!”

It felt good to boast, even when nobody was around. After all, somebody had to always be gushing about how awesome she was. She chuffed her cute blue lips, looking up to the sky with a cocksure grin. “And it’s time to show everyone just how amazing the best really can be.”

She lowered her chest to the ground again, like a cat ready to pounce. Her wings laid flat against her sides, their pressure a warm hug to her flanks. She narrowed her eyes, twitching her pointed ears with anticipation.

Rainbow Dash had never flown before, but that didn’t mean she wouldn’t succeed. Nothing could keep her back, not now and not ever. She surged into motion, every taut muscle springing and launching her skyward.

Earlier, she’d jumped nearly four feet vertically without any effort. Now, she leapt something close to fifty. She was high enough she couldn’t see the grass for its blades, to the point where treetops looked like small bushes.

The force of acceleration slowed, and Rainbow Dash’s wings spread. For a moment, she hung midair like a resplendent equine angel. She worried that she was smiling too much, that she might cramp something with how happy she was.

She was weightless over Equestria, over her home. She was really Rainbow Dash, and nothing could change that.

Her hooves kicked at the air, and she began to fall, laughing all the while. It was exhilarating, a rush to feel her giddy heart almost weightless in her chest. Rainbow Dash savored the feeling, then angled her wings so they were against the breeze.

The winged pony’s feathers caught air like a ship’s sails, and her fall was gently arrested, turned into a glide. She could feel warm air beneath her wings, and chased it with a midair gallop. The motion didn’t do much to help her accelerate, but it wasn’t always about success. Ninety-nine percent of life had to be about looking cool, and she knew she looked awesome doing this.

“Look out, Equestria!” Rainbow Dash laughed, shouting so loud that her voice echoed in spite of her altitude. “Because I’m home!”
