(Male First Person Dog TF)
I didn’t have time to react, not when the first change happened. It was my date, because of course she’d be the first one that Shifter would target. One second, a buxom brunette was looking at me, the next I found myself eye-to-eye with a dog.
“Nothing personal, but I’m bored, and in the mood to walk a pair of dogs.” The Shifter had said. She let me catch onto the meaning of her words, then she had laughed. “And I do hate breaking up a happy couple. Tell you what… We’ll play hide-and-go-seek. I’ll see if your pooch of a girlfriend can find you, and if she does… Well, you’d look better in gold. But, if ten minutes pass and we still haven’t found you, you’ll only be metaphorically golden.”
And that’s why I’m running, praying to you, a God I haven’t spoken to in years. My heart pounds in my chest more than it has in… Well, years, I suppose. I don’t remember the last time I ran, really ran at a full sprint. You probably remember.
There’s a spot over to my left that looks pretty safe, but I don’t go for it. Instead, I toss a shoe into it, and duck to my right. I think that should be a good way to throw Kimberly off my tail, right? Probably. Lucky thing we were shopping, there’s a Goodwill nearby. Other scents should confuse her. I hope.
People are staring. That’s the worst part. They don’t know the full reason why I’m running, but in these times, there’s only one reason why someone would set off at a breakneck sprint. It sucks, but then again, I guess that’s your plan for us, right? That you made some of us better than the rest, in order to control the population? Christ, I need to stop going online. Shit, I hope that wasn’t offensive.
Either way, Goodwill. I’m pretty sure that’s a safe place. Right? Right. Right? I hear dogs around, but that’s because this is always a popular trail with dog-walkers. Please, just let her ignore me for the next… Eight minutes, fifty-nine seconds. I think that’d be great, right?
Something makes a sound to my left, and I turn, face-to-face with the devil herself. I don’t even have time to start panicking because she taps me on my nose and laughs. Don’t know how she found me, or why she decided to look in the middle of one of those clothesy-thingies. What’s the word for that? A circle with all sorts of clothes hung on it? I’m not sure if I’d know the meaning, even if I was supposed to wear clothes.
Crap, but I’m wearing them now, aren’t I? Despite my apprehension, that Shifter laughs, and helps me out of them. It’s really nice of her to do so, because it lets my body feel all warm and itchy. The second I’m naked, I’m really not naked at all: fur grows out to cover me, head to tail.
Tail! I hadn’t noticed that, but it’s wagging and of course I would have a tail, right? It’s natural for me to wag it so hard, and feel its long hairs sway against the air… Well, not now, I mean. Now it’s thumping against the person-things I’m hiding in.
Why was I hiding again? I think it was a game… Well, either way, I got found. It’s a bit sad, but I still lean forward onto all fours, anyways. Then I pad out from the hidey-place I was in, to see the Shifter and Kimmy. She’s wagging her tail too, and I press my moist nose to her fur and breathe deeply of her scent.
It’s kind of like mine, but female. Shifter is female too, but not like this. She smells too clean, not that I would tell her. Or that I could tell her, since she makes those person-sounds, and all I do is bark. I prove this by barking at her a few times, and smile as she laughs.
That’s good, because she’s my owner. I think. She plays with me a lot and feeds me, from what I recall. I’m kind of hungry. I pant and let my long tongue flop over my thin lips, breathing in and out as quick as I can. This also has the added benefit of letting some of that dog breath out of my mouth. I know it’s my breath, but it still kinda tastes funny.
Well… I think it does? I don’t really notice it as much now, so I slurp my tongue back into my mouth. That’s not really a good idea, I guess. It’s too big for my mouth for some reason! My cheeks are all bulgey and swollen and… Nevermind, my snout’s the right size. Dunno what I was worrying about.
I arch my back and wag my tail harder as she scratches my ears. That feels really good in particular, I love how her nails sink into my golden fur. I mean… My… Fur? What did I just use to describe it? I know it was a word with a meaning, but… I can’t remember what. It doesn’t really make sense to me, anyways, so I forget it.
That’s something I’m good at! Forgetting things. It makes Owner happy, so I forget lots of things. Birthdays? Gone. How to drive? Dogs don’t drive, silly! A minor in theoretical physics with a major in concept of mathematics? I don’t even remember what those words mean anymore!
I wag tail harder, and love Owner’s scratches! They flop my ears just right and they make me feel warm and she makes word-sounds, but I dunno what she’s saying except maybe I’m good boy? Hope she said that, makes me feel happy really happy when she does and she probably!
Good boy! Owner said for sure! I am good boy! Yay! Good boy gets neck-huggy thing that jingles when walkies! Best part, Owner holds it so no get lost! Good boy! Bark bark happy! Wag tail nuzzle my female bark again! Happy!
