(Man to Bloodhound)
(Woman to Bulldog)

Paige hummed happily as she fiddled with her Nintendo Switch. The redhead wasn’t the best at games, but this new Mario was so adorable that she could stand to die a few (hundred) times. She fumbled yet another button, flinging Mario wildly off the stage’s edge.

“You know, you’re not very good at this.” Her best friend remarked from over her shoulder. Victoria was a patient woman with a surprising lack of patience for videogames.

“Well, I’m sorry.” Paige rolled her eyes, leaning back on the couch and kicking her legs. “I blame Cappy. I wasn’t this bad at Mario before he got a possessed cap of adorable.”

“You’re implying you were ever good at Mario.”

Paige stuck her tongue out at her friend, giggling. “Mean. And okay, so Mario’s not my game. When are they making a new Metroid? I kick ass at those.”

“Does Smash count?”

“No.”

Victoria laughed at Paige’s response, then hopped to her feet. “Well… I happen to have an idea that you might like.”

“Oh? Does it involve sitting your butt back down and watching me clear this level?”

“I’m not planning on pulling an all-nighter.”

“What do you-oh. Mean!”

“Maybe. But there’s another M word that better describes me.” Victoria’s eyes twinkled as she looked to her longtime friend, wiggling her fingers. “Magic!”

Paige looked to the woman for a second before looking back down to her Switch, this time collecting a coin on her way into the abyss. “Gah! I almost had it this time!”

Victoria’s hand clamped down on her Switch and she yelped, looking up to the woman. “Fingerprints!”

“As I was saying…” Victoria lifted a hand before Paige’s face, wiggling her fingers again. This time, sparks danced between them, a vivid rainbow of color springing to life so naturally that for a moment Paige thought she was hallucinating.

The truth came to her a second later, and it stripped her of all common sense. “Magic…” Paige breathed. Her eyes lit up like Christmas, and she looked up to Victoria. “It’s like a Disney Movie!”

“Bibbidi bobbidi boo.” Victoria hummed. She spun on her heel and her skirt lengthened, her shirt merging with it. In an instant, the woman had gone from wearing a casual outfit to a full-fledged dress. “Just what wish can I grant for you?”

For a moment, Paige felt what true power really was. She could have anything she wanted. She could have money, status, power… The world was at her fingertips, and all she had to do was wish for it.

After a second, she spoke. “Well… I’ve always wanted a dog…”

George was an average guy and, in another life, had been Paige’s roommate. She’d forgotten about him when she’d been changed into her new body, but that hadn’t stopped her from making a beeline to him.

“Uh… Can I help you?” The young man asked. He brushed a hand through his black hair, tilting his head at the redhead and her brunette companion.

“Hi, I’m Paige. This is so weird, but have we met before? I feel like I know you.” Paige hummed, unknowingly quoting one of her old favorite movies.

“I feel like I know you too…” George replied, a little dubiously. He looked to the woman, trying to place where he’d seen her. Her appearance ring any bells, but there was something about her mannerisms that filled him with a familiar ease.

“Anyways.” The redhead chirped. “Victoria, you said that you needed to have a human to start with, right?”

The brunette at her side, evidently named Victoria, nodded. “Right. And this looks like such a good boy.”

Happiness flooded the young man’s every vein, and he found himself instinctively beaming. His mouth fell slack, his tongue rolling past his lips. His chest rose and fell as he began to pant, and every breath he took stretched the muscle out an inch at a time.

“Wow…” Paige breathed.

Then common sense reasserted itself, and he shook his head, whimpering slightly. George didn’t know what came over him, and embarrassment flooded his form. “I-I’m sorry, I don’t really know what that was…”

“That was you being,” Victoria began, taking a step into George’s personal space. Surprisingly, he didn’t mind, and he let her continue. “A. Good. Boy.”

With every word, he lost himself more and more to that bliss from before, his butt outright wagging. His clothes didn’t feel like they fit right on him, even though his form remained mostly unchanged. His canines lengthened slightly as he wriggled, unable to shake the feeling that he wasn’t meant to be wearing clothes.

“So…” Victoria turned to Paige. “What kind of good boy is George? You are his new owner, after all.”

Owner? Something about that didn’t sit right to George. It also felt totally natural to hear, and he instinctively waggled his bottom with a giddy eagerness.

“Well… You know how I love Lady and the Tramp…” Paige began, her red hair glimmering in the light.

“A mutt?”

“No! A bloodhound! There’s one in the movie and his name is Trusty and he’s just the most adorable thing-” Paige stopped with a squeak as Victoria pressed a finger against the redhead’s lips.

“Not now. I love your Disney stories, but right now we have business to tend to. And that business,” she turned to the aimlessly panting George, “is our good boy, our good good bloodhound.”

George groaned with absolute bliss as gravity pulled hard on his face. It was like his ears, cheeks, and neck were made of silly putty, and the inexorable force was slowly pulling on them, stretching them. Soon his ears hung below his shoulders, and his cheeks were dropped into floppy canine jowls.

George started to pant happily, and the motion made his new jowls shake slightly. With every shake, they darkened a bit at a time, losing the fleshtone in favor of the black of a bloodhound’s muzzle. His face stretched out into the blunt snout as Paige pet him, a look of wonder on her face.

That only made George even happier, even though the color was draining from his world. His eyes darkened from their light blue into a right brown, and he flopped his ears happily. “I-I’m such a good boy!” It was a little odd to speak with his muzzle, but he was able to manage it.

“That’s right you are.” Victoria cooed. “Now, sit!”

George’s hips and shoulders popped as he fell onto all fours obediently. He whimpered happily, shaking his whole body with a contentment that only canines could possess. Drool dripped down his longer tongue as it fell from his mouth again, splattering into a small puddle on the ground.

“See? Isn’t that so much better? Not a care in the world, just a good dog…” Victoria continued, her smile only widening as George utterly lost himself.

He couldn’t help it. One second he was human, the next two women walked into his life and he was utterly entranced by their hypnotic sway. Brown fur sprouted from his arms and chest as he panted obediently, nodding his head along to her words.

There was a rich ecstasy in his chest, and he slurped at his nose again and again. His licks darkened and flattened his nose at the same time, turning it into the spongy wet snout of a dog. He really felt the love tonight, and his floppy ears hung low with absolute delight.

“That’s a good boy.” Victoria laughed, yelping in surprise as a tail burst from his backside, furiously wagging to and fro. “And my! You must really want this, I’ve never seen such a good response. Aren’t you a good dog, Trusty?”

“Georgy… Trust…” He groaned, wagging his tail and shaking his head, clearing his thoughts. “Good boy! Trusty grood brooOOF! WOOF WOORF!” Trusty slobbered as he barked.

Paige laughed, cupping his head in her hands and kissing his furry forehead. As she did, the clothing vanished from his body, and he wagged harder at the freedom.

“There’s my good boy!” The redhead cooed, scratching his floppy jowls. “But… I don’t want you to be alone. What say we find you a playdate?”

Tracy really, really missed her boyfriend. He’d vanished without a trace a few days ago, and all that was left of him was a wallet at a book club. It had been returned to his apartment, and George had given her it in hopes she could find him.

That had led her to all of his usual dives, then some unusual ones. Unfortunately, it looked like she was barking up the wrong tree-she had no sign of her beloved. The girl sighed, only to flinch in surprise at the sound of a dog barking.

That was all the warning she got before a bloodhound tackled her, his long flat tongue covering her face in a sheen of drool.

“Whoa! Easy, Trusty! Easy!” A redhead jogged behind the dog, cupping her arms around his neck and pulling him back. She laughed as he started to lick her, and Tracy found an unusual memory returning to the surface of her mind. Something about that laugh…

“I feel like I know you…” She breathed.

“I feel like I know you too! It’s weird!” The redhead giggled to the blonde, before extending a hand. “Anyways, I’m Paige and this is Victoria.” She motioned behind herself, looking a bit off-put when she saw nobody was behind her.

Tracy giggled at the look on the redhead’s face. “Expecting to see someone?”

“Yes! My best friend, she was just here…” Paige frowned, standing and waving to a speck on the horizon. “Oh! There she is! Hey! Catch up!”

The figure in the distance called back. “I’m wearing heels!”

“Oh, right. She’s wearing heels.” Paige shrugged. “Anyways… I should probably…”

“You do it yourself! I’ll lend you some magic!”

Tracy was very confused by this exchange, and her confusion only grew as Paige’s face broke into a wide smile. “Um… Sure. Anyways, I’m Tracy. If it’s not too much to ask, would you mind looking at this wallet I have? You really remind me of the owner.”

Tracy brushed some of her blonde locks from her cheek as she reached into her purse, her fingers freezing as Paige spoke again. “Of course, my good girl.”

“I… Good… What?” Tracy’s chest was warm, and sweat dewed on her brow. Her hand shook within her purse, and she looked back to the redhead. “What did you just say?”

“I said…” Paige leaned into Tracy’s ear. “You’re a good girl. My good girl. My good bulldog.”

Tracy scrunched up her face in delight, then continued to scrunch it as she began to change. Wrinkles creased her forehead and her cheeks alike as her skin sagged, a rich brown fur spreading across her face. She could feel her cheeks drooping over her lower lips, and she shook her head slightly.

“Rgghyy’m nawrrt feeling right.” She managed, struggling to remember how to talk. Something about Paige stole the words and thoughts right from her head, and it was all she could do to remain standing.

“That’s okay.” Paige hummed. “Because I know how hard life can be on your breed, with those stubby, short legs.”

Tracy groaned, looking to her arms and her legs as they began to pull into her body. She’d chosen to wear a long-sleeved shirt and pants today, so she had a singularly unique sight. The blonde got to watch as her hands and feet slipped closer towards her, her sleeves hanging emptily at her sides.

Paige giggled as the girl flopped her sleeves aimlessly, looking to the dangling cloth. Then an impulse overcame the changing girl, and she bit at a sleeve with her sharpening teeth, shaking it like a chew toy.

“Aw, does the widdle bulldog want to be out of her clothes?” Paige laughed, reaching up and stroking Tracy’s hair, watching it recede into the girl’s scalp. “Well, then all you had to do was ask, my good girl.”

A large tear initiated at the blonde’s collar, propagating through her clothes as she tugged at her sleeve. She rolled onto her right side, lifting her head to tear the shreds of cloth from her form. The girl wriggled happily, chewing at the fabric and enjoying its flavor.

“Aw, look at you! You’re such a good girl! That’s my sweet puppy, yes you are!”

Tracy’s ears perked, and she looked up to Paige happily, wiggling her backside. A small stubby tail popped from her behind, and she wiggled it from side to side. The girl felt something within her give way, and she played her tongue along the woman’s face.

No… No, that’s not right… Tracy looked to Paige’s face in confusion. Why was she licking her? Why was she furry, with such stumpy limbs? The girl recoiled in shock, her wrinkled bulldog face creased in surprise.

She turned her head pleadingly to Paige’s brunette friend, whimpering. “Whaaraatt’s graaawing awwrn? Wrrry’m hyyy dowwrg?” She growled, a rope of drool trailing from her chin as she pleaded for help. There was a chance, no matter how small that the woman could help her.

“Speak!” Victoria commanded.

“WhaaraOOF! WOOF! GRAWRF!” Tracy’s eyes widened as she rolled to all fours, her neck cracking upwards on her stout body so she could naturally look at the women.

“Huh… Why isn’t she changing like George?” Paige looked up to Victoria with a frown. “It looked like she was trying to fight it, right?”

“Well, that’s because you haven’t given her a name yet, silly. Her dog brain needs something to latch onto.”

Tracy whined as the women spoke as though she wasn’t there. Her body completed its change into a bulldog’s, and she considered turning literal tail and running. Then Paige spoke again, consigning the girl to her fate.

“Hey, Samus! Be a good girl for your new mommy, okay?”

Tracus turned her head, before shaking it again. No… I… I fought this before, right? Tramy thought, struggling to latch onto her name. She could remember letters and sounds, but none of them were quite falling in line with another.

I’m a… Girl? Dog? Bulldog? No, I look like a bulldog… Tramus looked up to the two women, before fixating on her owner. Because Samus is one! Samus good girl!

Paige giggled as Samus popped into her arms, licking her cheeks relentlessly. “There’s my good girl!” She hummed, stroking her bulldog’s head before giving Trusty another scratch under the jowls.

“Well? Want a third?” Victoria grinned from her side, watching her friend and the woman’s new pets.

There was something about the way Victoria stared at her and the animals that set her on edge. The woman looked to her bulldog’s purse, reaching her hand for it and pulling an oddly familiar wallet from its leather confines.

Beside her, Victoria stiffened. It was all like a dream, one where Paige was doing something she knew she shouldn’t. Slowly, the woman opened the wallet, looking at a male face she once could have sworn she’d seen in a mirror.

“You okay Paige?” Victoria asked warily. The brunette was on edge, something Paige had never seen in her life. The redhead stole a glance towards her, noticing how Victoria seemed genuinely worried for her best friend.

Paige returned her gaze to the wallet. The man on the driver’s license was forcing a smile, but his eyes looked so tired. If that was once me… She turned the wallet, removing the cash from its fold. Then she snapped it shut and tossed it into the handbag. Then I’m glad I’m who I am now.

“Hey, just wanted to see if Samus here could treat us for Starbuck’s.” Paige lied. It was a small lie, and one that she was a little guilty for. But in truth, she didn’t want Victoria to worry that she’d just doubted the witch.

Whether Paige had been transformed into this life or not, her life was a good one. If that photo had been her, then her life was better off now. The redhead grinned as her friend broke into an expression of delighted relief, then the two swept off to a nearby coffee shop, their new pets in tow.
