Mumbo barely suppressed a groan as he took his first steps into Mad Mod's mansion. It was an opulent affair themed after what looked like a Lewis Carroll interpretation of Buckingham Palace, and the sheer Britishness of it all made him feel a little uneasy.
Still, he'd been invited, and a good wizard always strove to ensure his benefactors were kept in a good spirit. He headed past the main foyer into the guest room only for his blood to run cold at the sight of a very familiar superheroine sitting in a recliner.
"R-Raven?" He yelped aloud, reaching into his cloak and brandishing his wand hurriedly. The gray-skinned girl had long been his nemesis, insisting that his magical prowess was nothing more than cheap parlor tricks and stage showmanship.
To his surprise, the girl didn't move, though she might be glaring at him from under her hood. Still, better not to take chances. Mumbo grit his teeth and prepared to hex her into oblivion, only for a Union Jack-clad redhead to zip between him and his target.
"Ello, ello, wot's all this, then?" Mad Mod beamed, his bespectacled eyes twinkling with mirth. "I go to all this trouble getting you a present, and you just want to blow 'er up?"
Mumbo's glare softened, though he kept the wand raised. "Actually, I was much more in the mood to transform her again. She made such a good rabbit last time, that I figured I could go for an encore-albeit a more permanent one."
Mad Mod chuckled, doing a quick little twirl about his cane towards the Teen Titan. With a flourish, he swept her hood back to reveal her eyes were closed and her voice softly snoring. "Well far be it for me to complain, but I think I've got a better idea. What say we put some of your magic in with some of my hypnosis, and we get you your own new assistant?"
At that, Mumbo's wand lowered; and he slowly began to smile.

Raven stirred awake with a faint mumble, her head feeling like it had been stuffed with cotton after being stepped on by an obese elephant. The room around her swirled into focus, and she scowled as she found herself once more in Mad Mod's clutches.
"Lovely." She muttered, glaring with consternation at the plush chair that was holding her hostage. Her arms and legs alike were restrained with silvered manacles, and there was a blank white screen before her fit for a movie theater.
It all smacked of unpleasantness, and Raven looked down to her bindings angrily. Of course they were not only silver, but also latched shut magically. It was like her double-kryptonite, and it warranted the full use of her strength. There was only one way to get out of this, and that meant calling on a little of Trigon's power. "Azarath metrion-"
Before she could finish her incantation, the screen flickered to life, and she found herself transfixed by the sight of a slowly circling spiral, its black and white stripe captivating her utterly.
"Zahwuhweh." She muttered faintly, her eyes following it for half a second before her passive resistance to mental attack kicked in. She shook her head frantically and glared back down to her restraints. "Azarath metrion-"
Again, before she could finish the screen took hold of her every thought, and she let out a dimwitted "Duhhh." She once more had to shake her head to clear her thoughts, and this time a voice resounded through the chamber.
"Not so fast, love! Can't have you hoodwinking old Mod now, can we? Try any more of those spells and you'll find yourself plumb up the creek faster than you can drop a toad in the hole, innit?" Mad Mod's voice taunted her from some unseen speaker, and Raven growled.
Still, he probably wasn't lying. That would certainly explain why her last attempts to free herself had ended so poorly; so she'd be much better off thinking of another way to free herself... Her brow furrowed for the benefit of any hidden cameras as she mentally clicked on an emergency transponder, calling the team for help.
"Ah, a little confused, eh?" Mod continued, heedless of her secret cry for help. "Well, don't be! You see, I just happened to learn that today's my best mate Mumbo's birthday, and I thought you'd just make a smashing good gift, yeah?"
Raven responded to that with a sullen growl. "Do your worst. Your little spirals aren't enough to put me under for long."
"Right-o, right-o." His words were followed by the sound of applause, and Raven couldn't help but deepen her frown. "Which is why I've had to ruin a little bit of the surprise and call on the chap of the hour for some help!"
"Hi Raven, long time no see." This time Mumbo's voice came over the speaker, and a chill passed down Raven's spine. The last time she'd run into him was a little hairier of a situation than she'd have preferred, and she'd made it a personal endeavor to not end up at his mercy again.
He continued to speak, heedless to her private concerns. "Don't worry, we'll be face-to-face soon enough. After I reintroduce myself, of course. Last time we got off on the wrong foot, but this time? I think I'm in need of an assistant, and I know you'll just be perfect."
"We'll get you right as rain, don't you worry, love." Mod finished.
Contrary to her typical demeanor, Raven did begin to worry. She'd never faced both of the villains at once before, which meant that they might actually be able to make good on their word.
Still, she knew that her magic tended to run poorer when her emotions were up, which meant that if Mumbo had gotten his white-gloved hands on some real power, she'd be better off upsetting him. "Well, if you're so sure of that, then why don't you face me head-on? Or are you too afraid your little parlor tricks are going to fail again."
At that, a loud rustling came from the side of the room, and part of the guest room's wall opened to reveal it was just a painted sheet, concealing a room which housed both of her current captors.
""You take that back!" Mumbo snapped, his moustache seeming to get even pointier as he stormed out to meet her.
Mad Mod simply yelped: "Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain!" He pulled the cover back over his little command center hurriedly as Raven looked up to greet the so-called magician.
"Hello, Mumbo. I'll be you can't wait to get beaten again. Tell me, how did they treat you in the asylum?" Raven spoke coolly, knowing her words would get under his skin.
Mumbo audibly growled at that, pointing his wand back to the screen furiously. The spiral began to move once more, though this time it seemed to take on an entirely new depth.
"Oh, that's cute. You must be a real hit at birthday parties, just like a clown." Raven drawled, keeping her eyes focused on Mumbo and not on the spiral behind him. To her surprise, it was much easier than she'd thought it would be, and the girl grinned cockily at the realization that this might go the way she'd planned.
Little did she know that two of her fundamental assumptions were woefully inaccurate. First, Mumbo's wand operated on an entirely different set of rules from her powers. Second, Mumbo's spell wasn't to help the spiral invade her mind; but rather to conceal from her its hypnotic effects.
"Keep talking, sister. You don't even know the half of it." Mumbo quipped, glowering at the heroine.
"Still half more than what you know." Raven shot back with a smirk, calling upon all the clever insults she'd heard Beast Boy and Cyborg use when in the tower.
Her words earned her a sharp jab in the chest from Mumbo's wand, and she groaned as her bust began to expand. In just a few seconds, she'd gained a solid cup size; nothing too slutty, but certainly nothing as demure as the girls she was used to.
The change brought with it a subtle shift to her mind, as Raven's thoughts of heroism slowed and plans for assisting the mad wizard grew. These new thoughts were subtly locked away in a tiny vault in her mind, ready to be unleashed when Mumbo gave the word.
"W-what was that?" She gasped, looking down to her chest and yelping in shock. "Oh my gosh, my boobs are so huge! Wait, why am I narrating everything like an idiot?" She said the last sentence with a glare to Mumbo and a thrill of horror in her heart. That was sloppy; she must have looked at the spiral instead of the wizard for a moment.
"Because that's what a good assistant does, of course." Mumbo chuckled, tapping his wand against her forehead and sending a wave of change through her skin. What was once gray became a blue to match Mumbo's own form, and she squirmed in place at how strange it felt to change like this.
"St-still think I'm going to be your assistant? Keep dreaming, you hack. Even if I am blue, I know that this is all just an illusion." Raven glowered at the magician, other quiet parts of her mind beginning to slip away.
"Ah-ah, my dear. Wrong again, as usual. You see, illusions aren't real; and what's happening to you certainly is." Mumbo jabbed his wand at her face once more, this time summoning a mask to cover her eyes that matched his own.
It magically moved to convey her expressions, and the white lenses grew wide with shock. "Oh no! Can't anyone save me from-nngh, stop doing that!" Raven yelled, both at her tormentor and at herself.
The lenses to her mask narrowed as she glowered at the man, hardly noticing as her cloak and belt vanished from her form, now replaced by a slinky set of tights that would look perfect on a casino hostess.
"What? Me? I'm not doing anything!" He chirped, the picture of feigned innocence. "I assure you, my dear assistant; this is all you."
"I'm not your assistant!" Raven growled, struggling against her bonds and glaring at a face that was strangely becoming harder to hate.
"You're not? Hm, oh bother; I suppose that means none of this is working." Mumbo waved his hands in the air, laughing sarcastically. He whirled back to Raven with an evil grin, tapping her head several times, each impact of his wand bleaching another strip of her hair to a snow-white.
These taps had their own subtle effects on Raven's mind, adding more and more mental vaults full of thoughts of being Mumbo's assistant; aspirations towards a life of crime. And with the addition of each pocket of criminal knowledge, Raven lost a little more of her old personality.
"I-wait, it's hard to... think..." Raven muttered, furrowing her brow as she tried to summon another harsh jab to the magician's ego. "You... I'm feeling so slow... Like... Hard think..."
"You're repeating yourself, my dear. Of course, that is to be understood... Tell me, what's a good name for a bird that's not quick on its feet?"
"Unh?" Raven blinked, looking to Mumbo in confusion. "A... Pheasant." She said, glad to have something else to think about. "Why do you ask?" She managed, her mind slowly beginning to gain focus once more.
Seeing this happen, Mumbo jabbed his wand to her head one final time, this time impacting the jewel set between her eyebrows. "Because that's who you are now." He said simply, a smirk on his face as he opened every carefully concealed wellspring of mischief that he'd instilled in her mind.
"Wh-wha!" Raven managed, her eyes wide as she was hit with the full force of magic and hypnosis combined. "I-I'm not Pheasant, I'm Ravent... Reasant... Pheasant!" She chirped the last word happily, the bands around her limbs releasing themselves and allowing her to pop to her feet, a wide grin on her face.
"So, boss! Do we have a gig soon or what?" Pheasant called happily, dusting herself off with a smile and looking up to her magical mentor with enthusiastic eyes.
Mumbo grinned, patting her on her shoulder. "Almost. I just need you to do one teeny-tiny little thing for me: I need you to erase all thoughts of ever being someone called Raven." He said the words with a paternal smile, and Pheasant smiled back.
"Well, that's a weird thing to ask, but sure!" She waved her heads in a theatrical fashion around her head, then did a gentle skip in place as she used her own magic to magnify the effects of Mumbo's a hundredfold.
The result was as immediate as it was permanent: all thoughts and memories of her older life were obliterated in an instant, and the temporary shifts to her body were made permanent. She even assisted the latter a little, inflating her posterior gently to help catch the crowd's' eye.
"Now what?" Pheasant chirped, tilting her head to the right eagerly.
"Now..." Mumbo began, at a loss for words. The man had been so caught up on transforming his nemesis that he'd never really thought of what to do with her.
Mad Mod answered the question for both of them, bursting out from the curtains with a nervous grin on his face. "Not to dampen the mood, but I think that we've got a bit of a stickiness on our hands. Apparently your new assistant sent out a call for help."
"Gosh, I did?" Pheasant gasped, covering her mouth with both hands.
To both her and Mod's surprise, Mumbo simply laughed. "Of course you did! After all, what better audience could we have for your debut show?"
