“Jack, you son of a bitch!”
Jack looked up from his burger to find his ex storming towards him, and he groaned inwardly. Why was it that he always dated the crazy ones? Steph had been after him since they’d broken up, constantly accusing him of being the reason for their break-up; and Jack was getting a little sick of it.
The brunette sighed and gave her his best exasperated look, hoping beyond hope that she’d just leave things be. He was so preoccupied in wondering what to say to her that he didn’t notice the world stopping around them, as though everyone had frozen in place save the two exes.
“Don’t you look at me like that! How dare you come here after what you did to me! This is my favorite burger place, and you’re ruining it for me!”
“Well… You do know that I introduced you to it, right?” Jack chuckled a little uneasily, planning to eat the rest of his food quickly and leave the restaurant before this got too much more out of hand. Still not noticing that the world around them was still, the young man assumed that everyone was quietly watching them.
“Oh, shut up! We both know that this one is closer to my house, and you could easily drive to another branch!” Steph stomped her foot on the ground, determined to not let this slide.
“Steph… You do remember that the next nearest restaurant is like half an hour away? That’s a really long way to drive, and I don’t think I want to do that…” Jack sighed, massaging his temples. Was it too much to ask that she at least be reasonable about this?
“You don’t- Don’t- What?” Steph screamed, slamming her hands on the table and making Jack jump in surprise. “I can’t believe that I ever thought such a lazy slug could ever be the one for me!”
Jack opened his mouth to retort, but words failed him as Steph got a truly manic look in her eye, a glimmer of something that promised only horror for the young man, triggering his fight or flight reflex. He stood up to leave, only to stop the motion as she placed her hand roughly on his shoulder.
“You know what… I think that’s perfect. You are a slug, a disgusting, drooling, slimy slug.” Said the woman, with an air of vindictive superiority that Jack had never heard her use before. He blinked in surprise at her tone, words finally coming to his mind.
But while they came to his mind, they didn’t make it past his mouth. Instead, a thick gobbet of mucus trailed down his lips as he hiccupped, drooling slime nonstop. The brunette’s eyes widened as he looked down to the slime that was trailing down his chest, and for a moment he stood still, shocked.
Then his legs gave way beneath himself, and he whimpered as he flopped to the floor, falling away from his table. His heart started to pound with fear, and he looked up to his ex only to cough up another thick gobbet of mucus.
“Aw, what’s that? Is my little slug having a hard time speaking?” Steph cooed, leaning down to look at the man mockingly. She smirked with sadistic delight, grabbing onto Jack’s pants and tugging them down.
He expected that his hips would give some resistance, but much to his surprise his pants slipped easily down his legs, as though they weren’t there. The young man looked down in shock to see why, and he immediately regretted the decision. Up until his waist his body was as he’d expected but after that… After that was a gooey and grey lump of flesh, one that began to creep up his chest as he began to panic.
It looked like his body was somehow transforming into a slug’s, and he tried to scream at the realization. Instead, only a wet torrent of slime spilled from his mouth, loudly splatting against the floor. Eyes wide, Jack coughed up another torrent of the spew, whimpering as he felt Steph’s hands grabbing onto his shirt.
Sure enough, she gave his clothing a quick tug, and with an almost audible pop both of his arms vanished, leaving his shirt free to slip from his body without resistance—and also sending him flopping to the ground on a belly that was suddenly moist with slime.
Jack wanted to shriek in fear; to yell for help; to do anything but flail about helplessly. Yet his new body was capable of little else, and he gurgled wetly as the changes swept up his back, dissolving his spine and leaving him the most helpless he’d ever been before in his life.
Tears of thick mucus trailed down his cheeks as he looked to Steph for mercy, finding only the vindictive insanity that had driven him away from her in the first place. Then the changes reached his skull, and Jack burbled wetly as his head flattened out, his eyes bulging and poking out from the top of his head, having become a horrific pair of eye-stalks.
He looked out at the world through these, quavering in fear as Steph seemed to grow larger and larger as she loomed over him, her hands sweeping to his sides and scooping him up. The transformed man burbled as he realized that she hadn’t grown; he had shrunk!
Jack was barely large enough to fit into even one of her hands now, and he trembled in mute horror as her hands closed over him, enclosing him in darkness. Then her hands unfolded, revealing a completely different environment from the burger restaurant. Worse, he recognized it: it was Steph’s apartment.
It was impossible to think that they’d somehow gotten here so quickly—Steph’s apartment was across town, after all! And yet… He’d also thought it was impossible that people could turn into slugs… He quailed in her hands, wondering what the woman had in store for her gross slug of a boyfriend.
As if she was reading his mind, Steph chuckled, lowering her hands. “Don’t worry Jack, I’ll be sure to take good care of you.”
Jack’s mind raced as he tried to wonder what she meant by that, only for her to lower him a little more, enough to see what looked like the edge of a glass case. His slug’s heart began to beat inside his chest, and he watched in stunned horror as she laid her hands inside the terrarium, leaving him free to crawl into what would no doubt be his new home.
At first, Jack rebelled. He wanted no part of this; wanted nothing more than to remain on her hands until she had no choice but to pull him out. But his resistance began to waver at the scent of something delicious just a little bit past her palms, hidden by a faux log.
He couldn’t go over to it, and yet… And yet he had to! Like a siren’s call, it was beckoning to him! The slug oozed off from her palm in search of whatever delicacy was hounding him so. He didn’t even care that she pulled her hands back, leaving him trapped in this glass case! All he wanted was to see what was behind the log!
The slug oozed his way closer and closer, only to freeze at the sight of his object of desire. He’d thought it to be something like a pizza, or even a burger much like the one at the restaurant. But instead, he was only greeted with a moldy banana, the plant having gone past green, yellow, and even brown. It was now a mottled black, with hints of white spores along it, and Jack felt his stomach turn at the sight.
Then, to his horror, he realized that his stomach wasn’t churning from disgust… It was growling with hunger. He began to ooze his way towards the rotting banana like a parched man would crawl towards an oasis, driven by base animal impulse more than rational thought.
Which was indeed a pity, because his every rational thought screamed at him to abandon this pursuit; to find something else, anything else to eat. But his body refused him, and the slug found himself crawling atop the banana, drooling uncontrollably over it, covering it with mucus. Then he lowered his face to a drool-covered patch of rotten fruit and vomited even more ooze onto it, realizing that he had to dissolve it into mush before he could eat.
“Oh, you like that? I thought you might; it was one of the bananas you bought back when we were still together. See? I’m always thinking of you, Jack.” Steph chuckled sadistically, looking down into the glass with a cruel amusement twinkling in her eyes.
Jack wanted to reply more than anything in the world, though he was torn whether he wanted to plead with her or to insult her. But all he could do was drool, feeling the banana break down more and more beneath him until it was like a rotten and fruity stew.
He could bear his hunger no more, and he dipped his mouth into the disgusting mess, slurping at it hungrily and getting as much of the paste as he could into what passed for his mouth. It was rancid, sickly sweet with the flavor of decay permeating every drop—but the worst thing about its flavor was that it was delicious to him.
The slug hated himself for loving it, but he couldn’t help it! It was the most delicious thing he’d ever tasted, an instant addiction that demanded satisfaction, no matter what!
“I’m glad you’re enjoying this so much.” Steph giggled, tapping the glass as she watched her ex eat. “I’ve been looking for a good way to get rid of spoiled food, and I think that you’ll be just perfect. Oh, but you don’t mind, do you?”
Jack didn’t respond—though for the first time since he’d changed, it wasn’t because he couldn’t. It was because his attention was held fast by the banana, his every thought devoted to eating the delectable puree. The human part of his mind wanted to vomit, making his slug body respond eagerly in kind, pooling more digestive fluids on the banana and eating more and more of the banana.
“No? You don’t mind? Okay, then I suppose I won’t ever, ever need to change you back.” Steph chirped happily, watching her new pet eat his first meal at her house since they’d broken up.
Jack could only keep eating, humiliated by what he’d become, and horrified at the knowledge that he could never return to what he had once been.
