“W-wait…” Helen blinked, her eyes wide as she looked down to the card in her hands. “You said that the loser of this game becomes the animal of their last card?” She gulped anxiously at the ’mouse’ card in her hands, wishing she’d chosen to just keep the ‘dog’ card she’d played last round.

“Yep.” Her best friend Rebecca smiled back at her, a grin on her face. “And it looks like Candace and I both edged you out.” She gestured to their discard piles, an impressive amount of points on the table.

Candace smiled too. “Sorry, but that means you need to spend the next day as a mouse.” Her eyes twinkled as she looked at Helen. The girl’s ears were already beginning to round on her head, and her front teeth looked to be just a little larger than they had been scant seconds ago.

“A whole day?” Helen squeaked, whimpering as her body began to itch. She scratched at herself with lengthening fingers, small white hairs beginning to force their way from her form. Her face started to ache too, and her hands wavered with indecision as to whether she should focus on her increasingly hairy body or her cramping jaw.

The decision was made an instant later for the brunette as her shoulders popped, sending her hands from her belly to her cheeks as her arms changed in posture. This latest change gave her the perfect posture to feel her face as it slowly extended into a rodent’s muzzle, feeling her bulging nose; her tapering jawline. It was all so horrible, but she knew that the worst was yet to come.

Indeed, the thing Helen dreaded most was shrinking, a fearful prospect that set the mouse-headed girl’s nerves on edge. Her whole body was beginning to cramp up like she was being squished, her bones creaking and muscles aching as they began to dwindle.

Helen’s clothes went from a snug fit to a loose affair in seconds, and they didn’t stop there. As she squeaked loudly, she shrank more and more until she was surrounded by blankets; then whole tents of voluminous fabric. She could feel her arms and legs cramping as they changed; her spine aching as it stretched out into a tail; even her body lengthening to the diminutive barrel of a mouse.

And yet none of it beat the prospect of becoming so small; so insignificant. She was tiny, a tiny little feed mouse! The whole world loomed around her, and as she slowly edged out from the voluminous gateway that was once her collar, her heart began to race at the sight of the two giantesses.

Of course they didn’t make things any easier on her, squeaking with delight, their voices sounding like they’d been amplified by microphones. “Oh my God!” Candace boomed, her usual chirp seeming to boom like thunder. The sound was enough to make Helen start to scurry back into her shirt—until an orange-and-gold blur intercepted her, a pair of huge paws clamping around her form.

It was Helen’s cat, who’d been napping through their game until the sound of a mouse’s squeaks had set its stomach growling. Before the two girls could move, before the mouse could even react, its strong jaws clamped around Helen’s form.

Helen squealed loudly in fear, her eyes wide and legs scrambling; tail flailing with fear. This wasn’t supposed to happen! This game was supposed to be safe! Was she going to die? Was this the end?

Neither her cat nor her horror-stricken friends were able to provide any answers. Instead, only a shocked silence descended on the room as Helen’s squeaks were halted by a loud crunch, followed by a wet tearing. And with one last squeak, the newly-made mouse expired in her pet’s jaws.
