Jake and Sam had been in these caves for hours, and it was becoming increasingly, worrying, clear that they were lost. Squeezing through a tight passage, they gaped as they came into a dizzyingly tall cavern.

“This is definitely not on the map,” Jake said, but he noticed the lit candelabras, ancient books, and digging equipment. Clearly someone had been here, though they were not here now.

“What’s this?” Sam asked, kneeling to pick up a half-buried object. A golden lamp. He picked it up gently, admiring its beauty, still vibrant after so long in these depths.

“Maybe it has a Genie, so we could make a wish to get out of here,” Jake joked.

“I wish it did have a Genie,” Sam said, holding the lamp, already contemplating the wishes he’d make. At once, smoke, light, and magic burst from the vessel, its flowing tendrils and seeking magic wrapping around Jake. He felt the power of the wish, it’s compulsive demand. The Master had made a wish, and the lamp would obey. Now, Jake would obey.

He shouted, a cry that grew higher pitched, as his clothing transformed from heavy spelunking gear to delicate red veils and a bra. Then, his body transformed to accommodate the clothes, and his new role. A body with breasts, smooth skin, and long hair. As the magic receded, her purpose became clear, and she bowed to her old friend and new Master.

“Dearest Master, I am your Genie. Wish upon me, for I am a servant, my duty to obey.” And then, just as soon as she had said that, added. “Master, what have you done to me?”

Sam, for his part, stared in amazement, unsure what to say, do, or wish. It was just as overwhelming for him as it was for the Genie. Or so he thought, not knowing the magical obedience his friend was compelled by. “Jake, is that really you?”

Compelled to answer, the Genie nodded, “That was my name before the lamp, but it is no longer. I am merely the Genie, until a Master deems it right to set me free with a wish.” It was unpolite to bring up the subject of freedom, but the Genie did not care, she was not yet ready to serve and obey.

“Of course I’m going to free you. But how many wishes do I get?”

“As the wielder of the lamp and Master of my being, you are entitled to receive three wishes.” The Genie said, forced to answer, and hating the way she was made to speak. If her Master hadn’t seen her become bound to the lamp, he would never have suspected she had once been human, or a man.

“Well, we need to get out of here. Genie, I wish we were back home.”

The Genie bowed and bade her Master’s command. In an instant, they were back at his home, standing in his living room. “It was desired, so it is done,” she said, still awash in magical power which was not hers to command. “Now, may you please set me free this bondage?”

A flash of annoyance crossed her Master’s face and he frowned, “I wish you’d shut up at getting free,” her Master said. The Genie’s eyes went wide and she bowed. Though this was a wish that required no magic, it settled upon her like an iron shackle. Never again could she bring up her desire for freedom. Then, she said something worse than anything she had ever said before.

“Very well, Master. Three wishes asked for, three wished granted. I now return to my lamp.” The Genie said, her eyes going wide when the lamp suddenly came to life, sucking her inside, where she would await her next Master. And the next, and the next. Serving forever, for that was what was wished for.
