“Well, only three of us left now,” says Rey.

“Who goes first?” says Emilia as she warms herself by the fire.

Luke looks between both of them and steps forward in the end. “I’ll go. I know it’s your birthday tomorrow, Rey, and Emilia… we all know you’re gonna be the last.”

Emilia blushes and hides her face by just staring into the fire. Of course, that’s where Chloé, Serena, Iridius, and Sarah can easily see her, not to mention the fact that the Lisa sweater she was wearing could feel everything.

“Go ahead then, Luke,” I say.

Hanging from our lovely tree, we already have our Christmas light

But up above, in the night’s sky, something else is shining so bright

“Uh… the moon?” says Luke.

“Have you ever put the moon on a Christmas tree?” says Rey.

“... first time for everything, right?” Luke chuckles as the transformation begins setting in. It actually starts off in a very similar way to how Eileen’s transformation happened way back on day 5. His body is starting to emit some light. Dimly at first but slowly becoming more and more intense.

At the same time, all four of his limbs as well as his head are starting to grow a bit… pointy.

Emilia chuckles. “You’ll be the star of the show.”

“Haha, very funny,” says Luke. He eyes the Christmas tree. Specifically its tip, knowing that he will be sitting there after his transformation finishes. “That’s not gonna hurt, is it?”

“None of these transformations do,” I say. For a human, sitting on a branch with needles might hurt. But a Christmas ornament? That is exactly where they are supposed to sit or hang.

Luke’s hands have now been fully transformed into two of the pointed ends of a star. This makes it quite difficult for him to still take off his clothes but he does not have to really worry about that, seeing as he is gradually shrinking down to a more appropriate size.

“Uh… little help here!” Luke’s transformation is slowly but steadily limiting his mobility and, with it, his balance. Having his feet fully transform into two more pointed ends of a star makes it quite difficult to remain standing. Luckily, we are nearby to keep him upright.

The yellow light he is illuminating is a lot more manageable than Eileen was as it seems to remain at a consistent, pleasant level. The human features that used to make up his body are now vanishing without a trace. What were his limbs are now simply the pieces of a star. What used to be his torso has now simply become the connection between the points. Even his head has now become unrecognisable as ever having been human. And on top of that, he has become small enough to fit on top of the tree and not weigh it down.

Well, perhaps ‘it’ is not the right word. Corey is still in there after all, somewhere.

I hold up the star, lifting it easily out of Luke’s former clothes.

“Happy…. Holi-” Luke’s last words are cut off with the disappearance of his mouth as well as the rest of his facial features. The transformation concludes with yet another transformed object, ready to decorate the room with.

I waste no time and I give Luke his deserved, proper spot up on the Christmas tree where he can shine brightly. His addition truly finishes off the Christmas tree, now consisting of four different transformed people. Of course, that’s not even mentioning the gifts underneath: the toy train and the nutcracker.

“A truly wonderful display,” I say softly to myself.
