Chloé looks a little bit glum today. I have noticed that she was eyeing my new scarf every so often. I decide to ask her what’s wrong.

“I know I argued with her a lot… but I kind of miss that now,” she says.

I chuckle. “Both of you were always going to end up transformed. It was simply a matter of time. Unless you wish to back out now.”

Chloé shakes her head resolutely. “No. I’m seeing this through until the end.”

All these clothes are nice and warm, but not the only source of heat

Within this room, there is another place, right next to the best seat

Luke, Rey, Emilia, and Chloé look around themselves curiously. What could this poem mean? What will the transformation be like? What is this ‘place’ that the poem is referring to?

Then, Emilia begins sniffing around. “Is… something burning?”

“Hey, you’re right,” says Luke as he too starts sniffing around.

“I think the source of that is standing right there,” I say as I point towards Chloé. It is perhaps a little hard to tell at first glance but it definitely looks like there is some smoke coming off of her. Not only that, but there are little bits of cinder that are appearing in her hair here and there.

“Wait… a source of heat…” says Chloé as she turns around to face the fireplace, where a pile of wood has been lying all along but it had yet to be ignited. The realization strikes her then that the day of ignition has come.

Hurriedly, the transforming girl strips herself of her clothing before they catch fire. It is a good thing she did since little bits of cinders have started sprouting out from all over her body now.

Rey decides to hold his hand a little closer and looks quite surprised. “You’re giving off quite a bit of warmth already!”

Chloé holds her hands on her stomach for a moment as the amount of cinders everywhere starts getting out of control. “I… can feel the fire… burning within me,” she says.

“I hope that’s not painful!” Emilia looks a little shaken at the thought of a burning flame within herself.

But Chloé does not look scared, or in pain for that matter. “It’s not painful at all. In fact, I feel alive!” She stands up straight with a big smile on her face. We actually have to take a step back now from the warmth that the transforming girl is giving off now.

And the process simply continues on. The flames burning brightly within Chloé are quickly becoming apparent to us on the outside. We can see it through her eyes. From her mouth. Even from some of the cinders! But it is not a destructive fire. It is a source of warmth. Of cheer. Of life. A beacon that burns brightly in the dead of night.

Chloé holds up her arms and prepares herself for something she knows is coming. “I am fire!” she exclaims. With that, she flares herself up and burns away the rest of her humanity!

With her body now fully gone, all that remains is the fiery shape of Chloé. An elemental of fire that is grinning at us. It almost looks a little malicious. She knows that, if she wanted to, she could cause some serious destruction. Of course, that is not what she wants to do at all. She simply wishes to bring us the Christmas cheer just like everybody else here. She just bows at us, jumps up, and then flings herself into the fireplace. There, she feeds on the wood already lying there to fan her flames.

And with that, another transformation has concluded. The fire is nice and warm, and gives the room a very cozy feeling. It is a little hard to tell now that the fire is actually a fire elemental. To an outside observer, Chloé looks just like any normal fire. But we, of course, know better.
