Just as she had planned, Eliza cracks her knuckles as she steps towards the calendar. She had spent the previous day going past everyone that had already transformed so far, knowing that she’ll be one of them today. She took some last nibbles out of Laura and Stargizar, she had a peculiar conversation with Sarah, she toyed around a little with Helen.

But now she was going to transform herself. The possibilities for her new form were dwindling but that did not worry her. Whatever was to happen, she would embrace it fully.

The celebrations of the holidays break up the cold winter times

But they are not complete without the sounds of these lovely chimes

For a moment, she closes her eyes to let sink in the fact that she would be inanimate soon enough. A smile forms on her face as she looks my way.

“Well, dear. I do hope you will ring me often enough.” Of course, she has already figured out what her transformation is going to be like. Christmas simply isn’t complete without its jingle bells. There is an almost dreamy expression on her face as she calmly begins taking off her clothes in anticipation of her transformation.

A transformation that quickly becomes apparent when, above her head, a metallic sheet appears. A sheet that is round and expands little by little, as if sliding outwards bit by bit, constructing itself downwards.

At the same time, her skin, which had been a bit pale, is starting to take on more of a golden colour much like the ever expanding metal around her.

Behind me, Chloe and Rey start singing Jingle Bells while Luke is already looking around for a good spot to hang Eliza up once she is fully transformed. Of course, he ends up settling for the sleigh that used to be Iris. It is perhaps odd to hear someone talking about you as if you’re nothing but an object when you are still mostly human.

But Eliza does not seem all that concerned with any of that. In fact, she revels in it. After all, she will be that object soon enough. She has accepted this and now, she embraces it eagerly.

The golden sheet is still constructing itself downwards, like a machine. It is quickly becoming apparent that it is forming a sphere, like any good jingle bell should be. For us, that makes it a little bit harder to detect what is happening to Eliza herself as the golden globe is covering her up. Well, that’s not entirely true, as there are some star-shaped holes that appear here and there through which we can peek.

But there is little to see now as Eliza’s features are slowly vanishing, becoming more and more of a rod. A clapper to make the bell ring and bring us that distinct jingling sound.

She spots me peeking inside while the golden sphere finishes its construction around her, remaining open at the bottom so that the sound can actually come out. Nothing but her facial features still remain to suggest that she had been human mere moments ago. She smiles and winks just before the transformation concludes.

Well, I say that, but of course, the jingle bell shrinks down to truly finish things off so that one can hold Eliza in their hand. Something that Emilia eagerly does.

“I wonder how she sounds!” With that, she rings the bell and… as expected, Eliza sounds clear and almost magical.

Chloé holds up the Iris sleigh. “Wanna test her out properly?” she asks.

Of course, Emilia wastes no time. She ties the new bell on the sleigh and the two quickly head outside, Eliza jingling all the way.

“We’re really running out of people quickly, huh,” says Rey as he looks around at all of the transformed people, knowing he’ll be among them soon enough.

I chuckle while the jingling sound of the Eliza bell rings on loudly in the background. “Indeed. Christmas will be upon us soon enough.”
