Eliza and Liza look at each-other for a moment. When we started off this calendar, they were also accompanied by Lisa and it certainly led to a lot of confusion among the guests about who was who. Now, there were only two of them left, and after today, there would only be one more.
The two girls nodded to each-other and Liza stepped forward, having made a silent agreement. “I’m going first,” she says. Determined to get herself transformed, she opens the door and embraces whatever happens next.
A dress and a sweater, stockings and a hat, are nice to keep you warm
But there is more of one’s body to cover, like what’s on the end of one’s arm
“Looks like yet another clothing transformation then,” says Chloé.
“I’m guessing gloves this time!” says Luke.
“Or mittens.” Liza’s own guess might be the most accurate while she is looking at her own hands, where her fingers have started merging into one whole. What she has yet to realise is that the same thing is also happening to her toes and even her legs to some degree.
“Going to come in real helpful when one of us goes ice skating again. Or sledding,” says Eliza.
Liza smirks while the transformation slowly takes over her body. The merged fingers are turning into the same red fabric that my dress, my hat, and the stockings on the mantelpiece are made of. What Teysa, Wolf, and Serena are made of.
“Now, unless I’m made for giants, I’m assuming I’ll also be-” her words are cut off as, unlike on previous days where the shrinking process was gradual, her size shoots down within mere moments, causing her to fall into a heap of her own clothing. Well, she won’t be needing those anymore either way.
The now hand-sized girl tries her best to crawl out of the pile of clothes that are honestly a little heavy for her now but due to the constant changes happening to her body, that is getting to be quite difficult. Her entire arms have become fabric and she is quickly starting to lose her ability to move them of her own. Not to mention the fact that they are also not as solid as they once were.
Her legs are merging up fully as well, making it almost look more like she is a caterpillar while still trying to emerge from the pile. By the time she successfully frees herself, she has mostly already transformed into a pair of mittens. We weren’t able to see it happening but, just like Serena and Megan, she has split into two. Where her head had been is now just a bracelet of wool to make sure no cold air can reach the hands of its wearer.
One mitten has already ceased movement entirely while the other just barely manages to crawl a bit further. With her face entirely gone, Liza isn’t really able to communicate much but it is quite obvious what she wants. She wants to be worn and fulfil her new purpose, just like all the articles of clothing that have come before her.
With that, Liza’s mobility leaves her fully and with it, her humanity, having surrendered herself completely to the world of fabric.
Of course, who am I to deny her that wish? I pick her up while also reaching for the ice skates that had been Megan just last week. “Let’s go out for some fun then, shall we?” I say while slipping my hands into the new mittens, filling them up just as Liza wanted. Wearing them, I can feel the joy she is feeling from being worn. A perfect set of mittens.
“I’m in!” says Eliza while grabbing the sleigh that was Iris. After all, she has already decided for herself that her day would be tomorrow. Better to enjoy the last day of being animate until after Christmas.
