“Hell yeah, rock beats scissors!” Megan cheers with one fist in the air.
“Yeah, yeah. Now stop gloating and get yourself transformed,” Helen said.
Megan grins broadly as she eagerly opens the next door. Being the twelfth door, she knows that after she is transformed, we’ll be half-way through.
As snow falls from clouds up high, water freezes up and looks quite nice
There must be a way to traverse this thick sheet of slippery, solid ice
As the poem is being read out loud, Helen snorts. “Sounds almost like a repeat of Leanne’s potion that one time.”
Megan, it seems, is in agreement as she prepares herself for what she believes her transformation to be. “Alright, bring on the split!”
“Split?” Emilia’s gaze wanders on over to the stockings that were Serena a few days earlier hanging over the fireplace. “Like her?”
Indeed, just as she had guessed, Megan’s body has started splitting in half just like the Serena stockings. Much like with her, the split is starting at the tip of Megan’s head and begins traveling down.
At the same time, she notices that her body is demanding her to bend over. Or rather, that she sits down with her legs outstretched for this next part.
“Brings back memories,” says Megan dreamily. The transforming girl is quickly starting to shrink down now. Of course, she can’t exactly stay her normal size. Nobody here has feet that big. At the same time, something appears to start protruding from both of her legs. They look like… blades?
“I hope the ice is thick enough,” says Helen, who is already looking out the window to check for a nearby pond. After all, Megan is becoming a pair of ice skates and I am certain that a decent few of the people here would love to make use of her before their own transformations.
Megan’s arms quickly retreat into her body. Or rather, her bodies. Indeed, she has been split in half now fully since ice skates that are attached to each-other would be kind of useless. The clothes she was still wearing fall off her body uselessly while she takes on more and more of the appearance of a pair of shoes. Her former feet are turning into the nose of the shoes. The blades on her legs grow out further while the rest turns into the sole.
And of course, there is a shoelace that begins snaking itself through her chest, down her body, towards the nose of the ice skate that she now resembles more and more. And all of this happens to both halves of her former body.
As her face becomes harder and harder to make out, Megan knows that her voice will be leaving her soon enough, just like the remainder of her already limited movements. “En...joy… … m-” The words sound echoing, as they are being spoken by both ice skates at once in that soft, fragile-sounding voice. So soft, in fact, that her sentence is simply cut off as an opening forms at the tops of both shoes where her head had been before. After all, how else is one supposed to wear ice skates?
And with that, the transformation concludes, leaving the walking, talking Megan nothing but an inanimate pair of ice skates, to be used to skate on the ice and then left in the closet during the warm summer months.
Helen eagerly picks up the pair of ice skates. “I call dibs!” she yells as she rushes out the door to the pond she had spotted earlier. Promptly, she pulls her friend onto her feet and just like that, she is skating in circles around the place. There is absolutely nothing about her ice skates to suggest that a mere five minutes earlier, they had been a human girl.
“I hope we get to enjoy that as well,” says Iris.
“Of course. Soon enough,” I say.
