A Christmas tree and a gingerbread girl now sit in the living room. The latter is being nibbled on by several people quite often. But Christmas is drawing ever closer and there are still many more transformations to go.
“My turn!” says Doli Fay while stepping over to the calendar. She opens the number 3 door, which is even smaller than the previous day and reads it aloud.
It is common for people to gather up lots of snow
And make a snowman to go with the Christmas flow
“A snowman?” Doli looks a little confused while the magic slowly begins infusing her body. “I can’t be a snowman inside, can I? I’d melt!”
“You won’t have to worry about melting,” I say reassuringly. After all, I designed all these transformations myself. I know what is to happen.
“If you say so…” says Doli, still not quite convinced. Meanwhile, it is beginning to show on the outside that the conversion is already happening little by little. Her skin tone is becoming paler and paler until it is pristinely white.
Johann, one of the other people, gasps in surprise. “Is that… snow?” he says.
Surprised, Doli looks down and, sure enough, parts of her body have started releasing some snow. Tiny snowflakes are falling down from parts of her hands, a bit of her hair, and even a portion of her chest.
“I’m… really becoming snow.” There was surprise in Doli’s voice but also a bit of excitement. The snow falling off her body is congregating at her feet as the room is starting to feel a little colder than before.
“Can you still feel that?” Eliza asks curiously.
Doli nods, shedding even more snow now as the process speeds up a little. “Each little snowflake,” she says dreamily. It is obvious that it feels quite good for her. To feel each snowflake as it falls to the ground. However, that would be the last thing she gets to say as the shedding of snow speeds up a lot now. Each snowflake contains a portion of her consciousness. Each snowflake is part of a greater whole. Well, currently, that whole is merely a heap of snow, covered by a pile of discarded clothes that the former Doli wore just now.
“Let me help with that,” I say as I pick out the garments and make sure no snow is stuck on them. Then, I use my magic to create what looks like a dome of glass that now appears on the table next to the plate containing our gingerbread friend. Inside, there is a small lamppost and a bench, but not much else.
But it is enough for the pile of snow to spring into action again. Slowly at first but picking up speed, the snow flurries up and starts spinning around like a whirlwind as it gets sucked into the dome.
“A snow globe!” says Rey knowingly as, indeed, once inside the dome, it begins slowly falling down to the bottom, covering the ground, the lamppost, and even the bench. But that’s not all as another figure is formed by the falling snow. It just looks like a ball at first but it becomes obvious what it’ll become as a second and a third ball of snow appear on top. More features begin to appear as a carrot pops out of the top as well as a bunch of rocks to make a smiling face. A top hat and a scarf adorn the little snowman as two sticks pop out of the middle as its arms.
And with that, the transformation of Doli Fay concludes. Her new form as a snowman surrounded by snowflakes that continuously keep on falling from the top of the dome just looks so picturesque. A true winter wonderland contained in such a small space.
The others surround the new snowglobe and admire it with awe. Emilia, though, approaches me. “It feels like there’s something missing in there,” she says.
I just smile at her.
