Isabella's heartbeat raced and her face was as red as a tomato. "L-love... me?"
"Yes, yes I do" Phineas replied, still smiling comfortably.
Isabella was at a loss for words. He said it! He said it!!! She couldn't believe it but he said it!!!
"And I also love Ferb!" Phineas then said.
Isabella's happiness was shattered to bits when he said that. "W-what?"
"I mean, if that's what love is, then I love you, Ferb, Candace, my parents, Buford, Baljeet..." Phineas started.
Isabella now knew where this was going. "Phineas... that's not what I meant!" she said, a bit sternly.
"Well then what do you mean." Phineas was shocked. If that wasn't what love was, then what was?
"It's... more than just friendship or family ties. Of course you love your parents, brother and sister. They're your family. Of course you love Buford and Baljeet. They're your friends!" Isabella explained.
"You're forgetting yourself there" Phineas stated.
Isabella didn't reply to this. Of course she left herself out. Now if only Phineas was going to catch on.
Phineas fell silent as well. He was at a complete loss here. Why did she leave herself out? Yet another unanswered question filled his mind.
Isabella noticed that Phineas was getting more and more confused. She didn't want to give him a break-down or anything. She became a little bit scared now. What if he suddenly started acting again like he did on the abandoned island?
"I'm... sorry Izzy..." Phineas then said.
Isabella looked at him curiously. What was he saying sorry for now?
"I... just don't understand it... I mean, I'm not really a psychologist. If love was something scientific then I think I'd understand it more, but this just... I don't know but it raises too many questions."
Isabella sighed. If Phineas was going to avoid love now, how would she ever be able to get him to notice her? "Phineas, I understand that you find it difficult to understand but... try to think out of the box that is science here."
"That's easier said than done I'm afraid" Phineas chuckled. "I guess I'll stick to the cute-meter for now."
Isabella grabbed Phineas' shoulders. "Phineas! That's it! The cute-meter! Tell me, how did you make that thing?"
Phineas was astonished by the sudden reaction but answered all the same. "I... made it so that it focuses on whatever I think is cute. But I don't see how that..."
"Phineas, you said that you 'took my cuteness into account and adjusted that meter from the beginning'. How did you do that?"
"Well I took your cuteness in a scientific way and..."
"Now try to do that with love!"
Phineas' eyes grew wide. He was getting somewhere. Indeed, he had taken cuteness in a scientific way in order to adjust the cute-meter. He had done it with cuteness, so why not with love? "So, what you're saying is... that I should make a love-meter!"
"Phineas, that's not what I mean. How can you ever understand my lo-... explanation if you just keep making machines" Isabella corrected herself.
"So... no materials to work with, huh?" Phineas began thinking hard on this one. What was it with girls? They always seem to want to take things anti-technologically! His sister wanted him to work with plush dolls instead of wrenches to breed that egg. Now Isabella wanted him to take an unfamiliar route where there were no wrenches or screwdrivers whatsoever.
Just then, Perry walked into the garden, clattering as usual. Phineas though, was too occupied to notice him so instead, Isabella was the one to say "Oh, there you are, Perry! Looks like you found a cute hat, somewhere!"
Perry went wide-eyed. He had forgotten his fedora yet again! This time, it was still on his head! He just guessed that all of the excitement got to him. He just walked into the house and decided to drop the fedora off at some other point. This just wasn't his day... or was it.
"Okay Vanessa, when is that boy going to move?" Doofenshmirtz asked his daughter.
Vanessa looked at Johnny, who replied with a "tomorrow."
"That's enough time for me! You'll just have to hope that Perry the platypus won't think it's something evil again or the whole plan would be flushed down the toilet... like me once" the evil doctor said.
Johnny and Vanessa looked at each-other at that last part, both remembering the faithful video from a while ago.
"Anyway, I'll just make a new, smaller version of the slave-inator and..."
"Dad! You're not going to turn him into some kind of mindless slave, are you?" Vanessa cut him off.
"Vanessa, putting it like that would make it illegal. You want me to alter his mind, right? Well with the slave-inator, I can do that! Besides, once he's fulfilled his task, he'll be all normal again and he won't even remember anything. You see, it's not that evil!"
"But... 'don't send his dad away from Danville' doesn't sound like a real task to me..." Vanessa said.
Her father fell silent at that point. That was something he hadn't counted on. "Uhm, well you see uh... I still need to fix a few things. I will make it so that that one little 'don't send him away' thing will stay in his mind."
"I dunno 'bout this" Johnny said. "Sounds like some hypno-show..." He then imagined his dad working for a chicken.
"Tssk, the least that could happen is that he takes the 'don't send him away' thing too literal and he'll keep your dad in his office in a cage or something but no stress, that will go over... eventually... or so I think." Doofenshmirtz said.
"Dad!" Vanessa yelled
"Alright, alright! I will try my best to make it fail-proof! But in return, I don't want to hear anything about a car for a month, understood?" Doofenshmirtz said.
Vanessa's choice was easily made. "Understood!"
"Okay then! I'll be going to work then" Doofenshmirtz said.
"Well, I'll see you tomorrow then, Johnny."
"Yea, you can count on it."
"And don't worry, I'll keep an eye on him." Vanessa was willing to cast all of her complaints about her evil dad aside for this.
"Yeah, that guy actually had a robot! And it called me its honey!"
"No way! And here I am complaining about Phineas and Ferb again! But what about the fedora?"
"I left it there. I just had to get out of there fast!"
"I can totally understand why!"
Candace had decided to call up Jenny to see how her mission went. She didn't dare call up Stacy, should she interrupt her so Jenny it was.
"But what happened to the invention of the day this time then?"
"Oh it shrunk down right before mom could... oh hold on, I got another line. I'll be right back, okay?"
"Sure!"
"Hello?" Candace asked.
"Guess what!" It was Stacy.
"Stace! Hi! What?!" Candace yelled excitedly.
"WE KISSED!!" Stacy yelled. Both girls squealed in excitement through the phone and they were only silenced when Linda started looking sternly at her daughter.
