Everybody gasped; Phineas had chosen the game over Isabella. Megan couldn't believe what she heard but decided to not say anything. Instead, she just muttered "Boys...".
Both Buford and Baljeet were very shocked to hear about Phineas's decision and even Ferb's eyes widened. All of them thought the same thing: "Idiot."
Isabella on the other hand recognized the smile. It was the smile he had given her on the night of her surprise, on the deserted island and numerous other times over the summer. "Okay Phineas!" she said and went to the spot that Phineas had chosen.
The fireside girls were all still baffled until Gretchen noticed something odd. If she had been right about Buford's strategy, then Isabella was supposed to move two squares further. Had Phineas chosen a different way after all?
Since Buford and Baljeet were too shocked, they didn't notice Phineas's alternate move. Ferb, on the other hand, did. Another shock which was enough to make Ferb crack a grin. "That sly bastard" he thought, grinning.
Isabella looked from the shocked Ferb to Phineas, who winked in return. Isabella blushed and knew that she had been saved, even though it was just a silly game. At this point, the other fireside girls started to notice the smiles Phineas and Isabella exchanged. Had he made a different move after all? Even Buford and Baljeet calmed down enough to notice the difference in the strategy. They grinned at practically the same time.
"Your move, Ferbo." Phineas grinned at his step-brother, who gave him a smile in return.
Ferb looked from his team to Phineas's. Sure enough, he found a way to get back at Phineas again so that in the end, they would end up with just their kings again. Though he knew he could do it, he also knew that it was pointless.
"You win, brother" Ferb said.
Everybody was shocked and even Phineas could not believe what he had heard.
"Ferb... did we just... lose?" Megan asked. Ferb winked at her and Megan got the point. She then made a gesture as if to zip her mouth shut.
"Ferb..." Phineas knew that his brother would have been able to get back but for some reason, he decided against that. Was it that he, too, didn't want to give up on his queen, Megan, even though they had just met today, so instead he declared a loss? No, that didn't make any sense. Was it for him? He was a little bit confused but above all, he felt happy. Happy that he did not have to give up on Isabella after all. He smiled at his brother, who winked at him in return, before moving his eyes towards Isabella. Phineas noticed his sudden movement and followed it towards Isabella. It had been for Isabella? Now he was even more confused. For some reason, the red-head couldn't make the connection between Ferb's decision and him being reluctant to giving up on Isabella.
Meanwhile Isabella also stared at Ferb. Her eyes were wide in shock. The green-haired boy might have given her the best opportunity to declare her feelings. Well, together with Buford of course. She still had to take everything in that had happened today. Not only did she nearly tell Phineas about her feelings, she had also been 'saved' from being wiped off the field. She looked from a winking Ferb to a confused Phineas and she decided that this would be the perfect timing for her to start explaining stuff.
"YEAH, WE WON!" Buford exclaimed. "But you guys did great as well."
"Buford..." Baljeet started.
"Oh Baljeet, were you here as well? I didn't notice you" Buford replied.
"Listen Buford... I am sorry for making you feel sad or ignored but..."
"Of course, there's always a but..."
"But I have a good reason... you see Mishti..."
"Mishti? Weren't you getting along with Ginger over there?"
"H-how did you know that?"
"I know things!"
"Okay..." Baljeet then sighed before he started explaining everything that had happened. "And that is mainly what happened over the day.
Buford repressed a grin at that point. "So... that's what happened... and now you even got yourself a girlfriend... well let me tell you one thing..."
Baljeet knew what was coming. He was going to say that it was the stupidest thing he's ever heard or something, even though everything he said was true. He stared at the ground.
"HA! BJ has a girlfriend!" Buford suddenly yelled, laughing loudly. Everybody turned in their direction and even Baljeet looked up. Ginger, meanwhile, was getting beet-red and wide-eyed. If there were people that didn't know it yet, they sure knew it now!
"B-Buford..." Baljeet said. "... welcome back."
"Heh, anytime, dweeb!" Buford replied.
Of course, Buford's loud exclamation of Baljeet's new girlfriend got to Phineas's ears. "So Baljeet and Ginger are together now, huh? Well that's great for him then but, I still don't get it... what is it that got Ginger to fall in love with Baljeet? And what is love anyway?" Phineas thought to himself as more and more questions filled his mind. "Why did Ferb gave up while he could still get even with me? Why was Isabella acting so strange when she heard that she'll be my queen and that Ferb still didn't have a queen yet? Why did Buford push the idea of his strategy so much, even though he was reformed? Where does the giant floating baby head come from anyway? How come Isabella sighs in awe every time the domino-night is mentioned? Sure it was great but she seemed to have loved it very much! I just don't understand it... She couldn't have been THAT happy with what I did, could she? What is it about her that's so mysterious? She seems to become very happy every time Ferb and I do something for her. Happier than anyone we do our projects for. Django never seemed as happy as she can be, nor does Baljeet... while they like what we did for them, Isabella loves it."
Meanwhile, Isabella was getting ready to make her move. She got off her chess-piece and was soon hugged by Gretchen, Adyson and Holly, all yelling "WE WON!"
"YES!" Isabella said, joining in on the cheers. "But now... it's time."
The girls all understood what that meant and took a step back, saying "good luck!"
"What's up?" Megan asked, joining the others.
"She's gonna do it" Holly told her.
Megan lit up right away. "Wow! I hope she'll be able to without any interruptions!" making the others hush or before it might happen for real.
Isabella then made her way to Phineas who was now climbing down from his chess-piece. Her heart-beat raised and her nerves only grew. "Uhm Phineas? C-can I talk to you?"
"MOOOOM!" Candace yelled when she saw Charlene's car stop at the Flynn-Fletcher house to drop off Linda. She had decided to bust her brothers once and for all after all. "COME QUICK TO THE BACKYARD!"
"Of course... well say hi to your daughter from me, Charlene. I have my own daughter to worry about" Linda said.
"Of course" Charlene replied with a laugh. "Good luck!" She then drove off.
"COME QUICK, COME QUICK!" Candace yelled.
"Relax Candace, I'm on my way already" Linda replied, rolling her eyes.
"Thank you so much, mom! You're the best! But hurry! Before it disappears again!" Candace then said.
Linda then started walking towards the backyard where the chess-board still stood.
Candace got to the gate first though and opened it, clearly seeing the project of the day still there. "Yes! Hurry up, mom!"
"Oh I hate it when I forget stuff" Doofenshmirtz said upon re-entering his lair. Of course he had forgotten his license for Norm. Luckily he discovered it before he came across any policeman, thus preventing them from taking away his robot yet again. He soon found his license, lying on the shrink-inator and when he picked it up, he of course activated the beam yet again. "Oh why don't I ever listen to the memos I make!" he then said angrily, shaking his fist in the air.
"And of course, the backyard is filled with friends of Phineas and Ferb and hey, what do you know, there actually is a game of chess going on" Linda said upon entering the backyard.
"Y-you mean it's still here?!" Candace said, astonished.
"Well yes but... Candace, honey... don't you think that you were exaggerating your 'enormous' description a bit."
Candace turned around to see what her mother meant, only to discover the game of chess shrunken down to a normal-sized game. "BUT... THAT'S IMPOSSIBLE!"
"Candace... you know this happens every day and yet you're still astonished that it happens. Don't you think you should stop one day?" Linda said.
"Oh they'd like that, don't they! But Candace Flynn WILL NOT STOP!" Candace replied.
After wondering who 'they' are, Linda raised her voice. "Hey everyone, anybody wants some lemonade?"
Everybody turned their heads towards the gate and of course, they all said "yes! Me!" Even Megan, yelled with the others, even though she didn't even know the woman at the gate yet. Everybody, except for Phineas and Isabella (and Ferb of course, who only raised his hand).
