Isabella looked at Phineas with shocked eyes. How did he know? Could he hear or see it from there? No, her chest was covered by the blankets so he couldn't do either. Then what was it? Part of her was scared of what might happen now. The same part that wished she'd never said it. That they'd just continued the movie as if nothing happened. Still, another part was very curious as to what would happen now. The remainder was surprised by Phineas's comment about her heartbeat which only enforced her curiosity.
Phineas on the other hand was at a loss. Not only had he just found out about Isabella's crush (which he still didn't understand completely), he had also just 'known' about her heartbeat. Nothing in his very long line of logic could explain this. Back when they first met Meap, he could explain it by his cute-sensor. Indeed, it had gone haywire when it would pick up Isabella's cuteness but was that love as well? Cute equals love? No, that can't be it can it? He thought Meap was cute and he knew that he didn't love Meap. Still, when thinking about Isabella, it was something different. Was that love? That 'something different'? But it made the sensor go hay-wire so it was still cuteness. Then how could that be love?
Isabella took a sip from her glass of lemonade to fill the silence. It felt tasteless. The fever didn't help either. She just stared at the tv-screen. The movie had stopped on the point where the man and woman were looking at each-other, scared that they might lose each-other to the kidnappers. It was as if the movie was part of the same destiny that brought them sick in bed together. As tear filled her eyes again, she hugged her knees.
Phineas saw this and concern came over him again. Maybe the 'cuteness' about her was part of what he felt about her? It was certainly a possibility. Then what would that be a part of? Love? Then if cuteness was a part of it, what were the other parts? And above all, was it indeed love?
"I-I'm sorry Phineas... I-I should never have..." Isabella wanted to say when suddenly, something neither of them had expected to happen. Phineas placed a hand on her shoulder. She shuddered at his touch.
He didn't know what he was doing. Something told him he should do this. Some odd feeling that he couldn't explain told him to do this.
Isabella looked at him and had to restrain another cough. That's when Phineas placed his other hand on her other shoulder. Her eyes widened.
"AHA, I got you now!" Candace said, storming up to where Ferb was. "You are soooo busted... for doing what actually?"
Ferb just shrugged. "Looking for you" he said.
"Oh... really?" Candace became confused now. What did he need her for?
Ferb nodded and looked at her. Candace wasn't exactly 'fluent' in the Ferbian language but she did manage to find out that something was troubling him.
"Hey, they'll be alright again if that's what you're worried about" Candace said.
"I know" Ferb said.
"Well then what is it" Candace said with a bit of annoyance in her voice.
Again Ferb just stared at her.
"Oh, I get it... you're wondering where Perry went!" Candace said.
Ferb managed to hold a face-palm back and said "no."
"Okay, that was just a little joke. Of course you knew that! What I meant to say was..." Candace said, grinning broadly. She had to think fast until she realized something. "That this... is the first time you can't be with either Phineas or Isabella since you met them."
Ferb nodded.
"Tssk, and that's what's bothering you? You know, you shouldn't let this get you down. When you three grow older and Phineas has married Isabella, because I'm sure that'll happen, you'll miss them a lot more! Of course you'd have found a wonderful girl of your own by then but if this gets you down already..." Candace said.
Ferb stared at her. She was right. He was sure that Phineas had feelings for Isabella as well, only Phineas didn't know that yet. Well, maybe he does by now after walking in on them during that scene. Also, the fact that Isabella was going to be 'aunt Isabella' to Candace's future children could only mean that Phineas would be the one to bring Isabella into the family. He only made that little move of his when they heard it because he wanted to join in on Candace's teasing. He cared about Isabella a lot, but in a friendly way. He had to get used to being less with them eventually. Especially with Phineas. They were brothers after all. Missing your brother would be an even greater shock to him, especially if it was someone like Phineas.
"I'd say you can handle this. It's not like they're gone forever. Oh, and if you're bored because of their absence, Buford and Baljeet are downstairs... I'm sure you'll have your hands full on them!" Candace said after which she muttered "I know I did."
Ferb cheered up a bit. He smiled and went downstairs again.
"Well done, Candace" Candace told herself. That's when she got curious about Phineas and Isabella. She decided to listen at the door.
Phineas had pulled her into a hug! Isabella couldn't do anything out of shock.
"I don't want you to cry Isabella. I don't ever like seeing you cry. I just... I really don't know... I have no clue... what love is" Phineas said.
"Phineas... " Isabella said. She managed to gather her strength again and hugged him back.
Phineas then grinned a bit. "That's the Izzy I know!" They pulled away again, but kept holding on to each-other.
"But Phineas, I didn't mean to make you..." Isabella wanted to say.
"Don't worry about me. This is about you now. I've been the one to make you feel sad for I don't even know how long without even knowing it."
"Since the day we met..."
Phineas was shocked again. "Well, really long then..."
Isabella couldn't help but grin at this a bit. "Okay Phin... I forgive you."
Phineas thought again, he had to find out what love was soon. He then came up with an idea. "Just tell me, what makes me so different from the rest for you?" he asked.
Isabella's eyes widened. He sure posed a question there.
