"Isabella, are you sure we're going in the right direction?" Holly was out of breath, her feet were killing her and her mouth felt dry. Her situation wasn't much different from the others.
"Yes, I'm sure we are. We were supposed to follow this set of hills and the rocks should be just around that hill over there" Isabella replied.
"Well I hope Phineas will appreciate what we're doing here. I'm not made for deserts." Adyson sighed.
"I think I even have sand in my underwear" Katie said annoyed. The mood of the girls had decreased ever since they set a foot in the desert. All except for Isabella's. Her determination to make Phineas happy is what kept her going but the motivation for the rest was just to keep Isabella busy. Milly and Ginger walked beside each other and began chatting out of Isabella's earshot.
"Is this really worth it?" Ginger asked.
"We're doing this for Isabella. Of course it is" Milly replied.
"Well yes but... " Ginger sighed "I was kind of hoping to go somewhere else. Anywhere besides this desert."
"I agree with you on that." Milly said.
Gretchen had overheard them. "Hey you two. We're all tired and beat but after this, we're the only ones that can say that we have a desert-crossing patch!" she said, trying to cheer them up. She herself had had her doubts but since she cared for Isabella so much, she had told herself she could only gain from it herself.
"I suppose you're right." Ginger said.
"Yeah, I haven't heard of anyone doing that before" Milly said. The news about this quickly spread to the others and when Isabella heard about it, she realized that the others were just dragged into another crazy adventure created by her will to please Phineas and she made a halt.
"Girls... I'm sorry for dragging you all into this." Isabella said. "I just get so distracted by Phineas sometimes that I forget about others."
"Don't worry, chief. If it wasn't for your determination to help Phineas, we would never have gotten as many patches as we do now" Holly said.
"Even though we have too many 'help-thy-neighbor-patches', we have gained a lot of patches one could only dream of achieving in just one summer" Adyson added.
"Yes! That's true!" Katie said. Everybody suddenly seemed to be cheering up. This made Isabella happy again.
"Thanks girls. You're the best fireside-girls scouting group anyone could ever wish for." Isabella let out a small tear. "When this is all over, I'll get everyone of you an ice cream!" the others cheered when they heard this and soon, they were pursuing their goal again.
"Wait! There's just one condition" Ginger finally said.
"What is it?" the others asked.
"Will you guys stop removing my patch when I say that Baljeet is cute!" Ginger said rather annoyed.
The others laughed and even Ginger could crack a smile.
"Very well, we'll try to not do that in the future then" Katie told her.
"You're right Perry the platypus! I should be the one to go after her!" Doofenschmirtz said. He had spent a long time on the floor with his nemesis on his chest trying to convince him to do just that. He had seen what he had done to his daughter and her mysterious savior and regretted doing so. How could he have been so stupid? Okay, he has had a habit of not thinking things true, particularly when installing a self-destruct button but this was just absurd! He stood up and looked at the platypus. Perry gave him the thumbs up and a wink. Doofenschmirtz just smiled and made his way to the door. "Oh don't worry Perry the platypus. We'll finish our fight tonight or something. Until then, can you wait here? Or wait, you'd better go home and come back later. It might take a while" he said. Perry nodded. "Thank you" Doofenschmirtz said and he was off.
Perry prepared his hovercraft. He was going to go home for dinner and then leave again as soon as he was done eating. He might even get to see what Phineas and Ferb had been up to all day. He rarely got to see it so he was kind of curious. Just as he was about to leave, someone entered the room.
"Dad? Are you here?" it was Vanessa. "Dad? Hello? Anyone?"
Perry rolled his eyes. Of course Doofenschmirtz missed her on his way out. He probably took the other elevator or something. Perry walked over to Vanessa and made his clattering noise.
"Oh, there you are Perry. No wait, I'm not looking for you, I'm looking for my dad. Do you know where he went?"
Perry nodded.
"You... you didn't arrest him or anything, did you?" Vanessa asked suddenly worried but Perry shook his head.
"Oh phew. Wait, then where is he?" she asked.
Perry then tried to make it clear that her father had just left to find her. Luckily, his weird gestures were solvable for Vanessa and she said. "Oh, so he went looking for me... Oh he probably thinks I'm at mom's... I'll go there then. Thank you Perry. Or would you rather I called you Perry the platypus." she said.
Perry made his clattering noise yet again as to ensure that it didn't matter. With that, Vanessa went off again and Perry made his way to his hovercraft yet again. Just as he was going to start it up, someone entered the room yet again.
"Ooooh, why did I leave without knowing where she could be! See, this is what I meant by not thinking things true. Even Norm sees that. Maybe I should listen to him more often. Then again, all he wants is a Popsicle stick wife out of me." It was Doofenschmirtz again.
Perry made a sighing clatter and went out of his hovercraft again.
"Perry the platypus, why are you still here? Didn't I tell you to go home and wait for my return?" Perry again started making weird gestures to explain that Vanessa had just been here and he had missed her yet again. Luckily, Doofenschmirtz also solved it and said "so I just missed her? Oh great..."
Perry didn't want this to happen again so he walked towards the elevator with his nemesis and made sure they would stay there until Vanessa returned again. After all, it was so cliché for this to happen that Perry just half expected Vanessa to come back. All went well until Doofenschmirtz lost patience.
"Listen Perry the platypus, if she was going to come back, she would have done so already. If you'll excuse me, I'm going down now" he said annoyed and he stepped into the elevator. Just then, the other door swung open and Vanessa stepped out. Perry just face-palmed and shook his head. He couldn't believe this really happened.
"Perry? Why are you here? I was just coming back because dad's motorcycle is still parked outside and he hates using a bus so he must still be here... wait don't tell me he's just entered that elevator..." Vanessa said. After seeing Perry's nod, she could face-palm herself right now. Somehow, she had to get down before her dad did. Otherwise, he might have changed his mind yet again and made his way up again. Perry had an idea and he grabbed Vanessa's hand.
"Perry, what are you doing?" she asked shocked. Perry was running back to Doofenschmirtz's lair towards the holographic balcony. "Oh no, no way. I'm not going to fall off of here again." Vanessa said upon realizing Perry's plan.
Perry clattered and looked at her as if to say 'what other option is there'.
"FINE. I hope dad appreciates what I'm doing here..." She walked towards the edge and Perry climbed on her back. "Ready?" she asked and she just knew Perry nodded "GERONIMOOOOOOO" she screamed as she jumped. Not soon after, Perry opened up his parachute and they gently reached the ground. "Thank you Perry, but I gotta hurry now!" Vanessa said, still filled with adrenalin from the fall. She made her way towards the elevators and just waited for the doors to open. When they finally did, she could just sigh in relieve "Hi dad."
"Vanessa?" Doofenschmirtz said surprised. "I was just gonna go up again because I forgot my keys but..." Just then, all that had happened so far just got too much for Vanessa and she passed out.
