Doofenschmirtz couldn't believe what had just happened. He had had a row with his daughter, he had scared off a little boy and his nemesis had just 'put him in his place' by whacking him in the face.
"Why did you do that Perry the platypus! Can't you see I'm not in the mood for evil right now?!" he yelled.
Perry made his clattering noise but it sounded very stern as if to tell him that he had to quit whining and take some action. Doofenschmirtz however didn't take the hint. "Well don't do it again... I'm going to bed." it seemed like he was on the verge of tears.
Perry then hit him again but this time, he made sure Doofenschmirtz couldn't get up again.
"PERRY THE PLATYPUS LET ME GO! I don't want to fight you right now! Can't you understand that?!" Doofenschmirtz yelling didn't stop Perry from standing on his chest.
"What are you trying to do?!" Doofenschmirtz asked.
For some reason, Perry had a photograph of Vanessa and Ferb under his fedora. He knew Doofenschmirtz was stupid enough to not question why he had a picture of his daughter or even the random kid under his fedora so he didn't mind. He tried to tell Doofenschmirtz to stop whining and have a proper conversation with Vanessa about Ferb. After all, Ferb was just trying to be nice.

"Thank you again for letting us have it for the afternoon mister Brown. We were able to locate the crystal with it!" Isabella told Beppo.
"That's great! Now I must get back to work again but I would suggest to bring some water with you." Beppo said.
"Already on it!" Gretchen was standing behind him with a whole cart of water-bottles.
"That was fast, Gretch" Katie said.
"Well why waste time on standing here, right?" Gretchen replied.
"True" Milly said.
"Well then let's go, girls." Isabella encouraged the others and soon, they waved Beppo goodbye and they were all ready to go into the desert.

Ferb was just mindlessly controlling the machine. He was careful enough as he did not want the work of his friends and family to be in vain but he couldn't shake off what had happened that afternoon. He might have just caused a fight between his love-interest and her father. How could he have been that stupid? Where did he ever get the idea that somebody 6 years older than himself would love him? He could just see her hating him for causing all this. He should have just developed a crush on one of the fireside girls or something he told himself. Then none of this would have happened. At this point, he would rather have fought over Isabella with his brother than to be in the situation he was in that afternoon.
"Ferb!" somebody called. Ferb couldn't hear who said it. He just continued with his work.
"Feeeerb!" the same voice said again. He decided to at least check to see who it was. After peeking, he saw that it was Phineas. He was probably just going to share his thoughts as to what part of the project he should work on now. Ferb decided it might be a good idea to just listen to set his mind off of things.
"Finally you've listened." Phineas said upon seeing his brother leave the machine.
Ferb came over to Phineas and looked at him, expecting him to begin a long share of his thoughts. He didn't. "There's somebody here to see you" he said instead. Ferb stared at him sceptically. "You remember that girl that came falling from the sky in Tokyo?" Phineas said.
"H-hey... Ferb."
Ferb couldn't believe his eyes. It was Vanessa! Vanessa had come to him? Either she was going to scold him or she was going to claim that it was her fault. Neither of them felt right but he was secretly hoping for the latter. "Hello" he brought out.
"I'll eh... I'll get back to work then..." Phineas said and he was off. Gone to his part of the project again. Of all the things Phineas had done today, this was probably the oddest. Never did Phineas show any signs of romance but today, he was on a roll! Like he's always known about romance. Has he been playing dumb all this time? No, he can't possibly treat Isabella so harsh as to show almost nothing until now.
"Ferb I..." Vanessa started. The tone in her voice sounded regretful. Ferb couldn't decide what to feel. Happiness for not scolding him or regret that she had been feeling guilty.
"Vanessa, what about your father." Ferb said.
"I'll visit him after this" she sighed. "I just wanted to say I'm sorry for what happened back there. I shouldn't have started that fight over nothing. I..."
"Vanessa, don't be the one to feel guilty." Ferb said. Of all the moments he had talked, this seemed to be the best one so far.
"Hey, it's not your fault if you think that. I don't see how you could be the one to blame." she replied.
"There was no fight without me." He said.
"There was no me without you!" Vanessa replied. This was true. As guilty as Ferb could feel, if he hadn't been flying there, Vanessa would have fallen to her death. "Besides, if I gained a dollar for every time I disagreed with my father on something I would be a millionaire by now! Listen, I don't want you to feel guilty over me... I've seen you be happier and I wouldn't want you to stop that for me." Vanessa had no idea that Ferb was actually interested in her but Ferb didn't mind. Her words touched him and put him back into reality. Things flooded into his mind again. Phineas making a project for Isabella, Candace helping out for once, him saving Vanessa twice in one summer. It all became very clear again. He smiled.
Vanessa saw this and smiled back at him. "That's the Ferb I know." she said and with that, she knelt down and gave Ferb a hug. Ferb was at a loss but happy as can be! Vanessa was hugging him! "Thank you" he whispered into her ear.
"No, thank you" she whispered back and she let go of him again. "Now, if you don't mind, I still have a father to say sorry to." and Vanessa was gone again.
"Hey Ferb!" Phineas clicked his fingers in front of Ferb's face. Had he been in a trance again and for how long? Apparently so, but he knew the hug was real. "What was up with that? And how did she know you were here anyway?"
Ferb looked at him. How did she know he was here? Of course he was here. Who else could have an enormous plateau like this in their backyard. It must be the same person as the one that flew across the world in one day and the one to fly a spaceship across the universe. He didn't bother to answer that and only answered the first question. "You might understand when Isabella comes here." he said.
"When Isa- how is she going to make me understand what just happened?" Phineas said but Ferb was already back in the machine. Phineas just shrugged again and went back to work. Ferb was happy as can be and not even the obliviousness of his brother could disturb that. Even though he knew he wasn't going to run into her for quite some time, there was still a chance that he could hold onto.

Phineas had been the only one to watch what was going on between Ferb and Vanessa and he still had questions as to what happened. Of course he had no way of knowing about Ferb saving her but still, if he had known a little bit more about romance, he might have figured something out. It was what kept him busy for a little while until his thoughts went back to Isabella and the project he was making for her. It had to be finished soon or else, she would be here before it was done. Things were looking good though. With the machine, the progress they made had indeed increased a lot. He was sure that, at this rate, they would be done before dinnertime. He knew mom and dad would be home late though so, unfortunately, they'd have to miss the show. Everything went perfectly as planned. Not even a storm wind slamming into the plateau would harm the project as the edges were filled with cushions and the plateau itself was earthquake proof. No force of nature could harm what they were doing. He had planned it all perfectly. If only it could have gone a lot faster! Even with the machine, it was still an enormous project and Phineas was even thinking of asking Ferb for a second machine.
