"Well, what do we do now," Matthew said, gazing towards Rachel leaving the platform.
"Gosh, I don't know Matthew, maybe leave the metro at the next station? Just a thought" Mary replied sarcastically.
"Well I don't see how we're going to find them again like this."
"Are you really this stupid or are you just pretending to be" was the reply, and Mary took out her cell phone. At this, Matthew could smack himself but he didn't want Mary to know so he merely grunted. "Anyway, we should get off at the nearest station."
"Wait a minute" Matthew replied, "imagine they're walking towards the Eifel tower right now, assuming we're going there as well."
"Hmm, you might have a point there. Rachel isn't exactly the person to stay put where she is and Pete would only get bored." Mary thought it over and muttered something about it being stupid that you're not able to use the phone underground, which went against all her logic but she didn't care. "Well, the best we can do is exit the metro at the next station and hope we can use the phone in there."
"While staying before the exit gates of the station? Ok, sounds good, but what if we can't use it."
"Then we should decide on what to do next." They agreed this would be the best option as the metro arrived at the next station. After yet another struggle, they managed to get off on time this time and headed towards the station gates. Mary got her phone out of her bag and held it in front of her to see if it picked up any signals. After a while it worked, "YES, we got contact here" she yelled.
"Perfect" Matthew replied, "now we can call them."
"Meanwhile, you search on the map where the heck we are." Mary usually never got this pissed but it showed her structured nature. She needs everything to go right and hates it when sudden changes are made. Matthew nodded and went for the map while Mary called Rachel. The phone went and was answered soon enough.
"Mary?" Rachel's voice sounded on the other side, followed by a few giggles.
"Rachel, finally… what's so funny?"
"Oh nothing, we're just messing with each other a little bit here." Rachel said and Mary could hear Pete poked Rachel a bit and she could hear him laugh as well.
"Well I'm glad you two are enjoying yourselves" Mary replied sarcastically.
"Ok, I'm sorry" Rachel said, followed by a few hushes, indicating Pete was being an ass again. "Anyway, where are you two now?"
Mary looked over at Matthew who was still trying to find the right station on the map. Eventually, he found it and told Mary "Notre-Dame-De-Lorette."
"Apparently at the 'Notre-Dame-De-Lorette' station" Mary said on the phone.
"Ok, we're still at the 'Saint-Georges' station" Rachel said.
"That's nothing for you. Usually you'd already have left the place." Mary said snidely. She could hear Pete laughing at this and Rachel 'answering his laugh' which made Mary laugh as well.
"Shut up" Rachel laughed. "So what's the plan?"
"Well, it's a pretty long walk to the Eifel tower from here and the subway won't be getting any less busy for at least another half an hour which means Pete will have to wait for that. Meanwhile, we can go there already and just wait for you two to arrive." Mary replied.
Rachel didn't reply for a while and Mary could hear some murmurs on the other side, but couldn't make out what was said. Mary looked at Matthew for a second, who was a bit puzzled by what was going on. Mary couldn't help but roll her eyes a bit. Eventually, Rachel agreed with her. "Ok, we'll wait for half an hour and meet you there then. See you soon I hope and otherwise, we'll call again. Oh, and could you two already buy our tickets there?"
"Sure, just don't let us wait for too long like you did just now. See you then" Mary said and she hung up the phone. "Looks like we got ourselves a plan. Let's get going" she said to Matthew.
"Wait, Pete is going on the metro after all?"
"Apparently so, once it's less busy though."
"Hehe, I'd like to see him try." Matthew imagined Rachel and Pete stopping at every subway station for Pete to get some fresh air. "Alright, let's go then." They walked back to the metro again and the next one was already there waiting for passengers to board. They quickly got in and managed to get to the less busy part right away this time. "So… got any eh… funny jokes?" Matthew said, trying to cheer up the mood a bit but after Mary looked back with a look that said "if you don't shut up now..", he immediately shut up. They didn't say anything to each other for the rest of the journey (which was to be expected from these two). The journey itself wasn't all that exciting, apart from the fact that they got lost at the point where they had to get on line C. Upon arriving at the platform, things went bizarre since trains could come from both directions on the same track and signs didn't give proper information. Eventually, they decided to get back to the previous metro and take another route to the Eifel tower, leading to a different station, but still very close by the Eifel tower.

"FINALLY!" Matthew let out a sigh of relief. "we're HERE. That took for AGES!"
"I'm glad you noticed, Matt. Now would you mind stay, you know, quiet. Besides, we have to wait here for them anyway and buy them tickets."
"Can't we at least get out of this boring station?"
"We have to leave the station. Our rendezvous is at the Eifel tower remember."
"Yeah, yeah, I know. I just want to stretch my legs a bit."
"Of course you did" Mary said, eyeing him suspiciously.
"What? It's not like I can speak French to any of the girls here." Matthew replied at this, placing his hands behind his neck and looking innocent.
"I'm keeping my eye on you" Mary said and they walked out of the station. This station however, was above ground so they had to descent from the stairs this time.
"So… where's the Eifel tower" Matthew said and looked around. "How can we miss such a huge construction." He said, looking all around him but all he could see was the Seine and a couple of huge buildings.
"Well, we go in one direction and hope it's the right one, perhaps?" Mary said.
"Ok, fine, then we go left" Matthew said and they went left. They didn't get far though, as they soon saw the Eifel tower sure enough but it was only a reflection in the windows. "I meant right of course."
"Yeah, of course you did" Mary rolled her eyes. "Let's go." They started walking in the other direction and looked around a bit. The sun was now completely gone and when the Eifel tower came in sight, it was completely lit up. Mary was astonished. "What a beautiful sight."
"Well that's the first time I've seen you this amazed. It's just a lit up tower."
"Oh I'm sorry, maybe you should build your own then."
"Alright, I will. As soon as we get home, I'll just have to steal the lego collection of my brother and get some LED's from my dad and then…" Matthew didn't get a chance to end his sentence as Mary had poked him in the stomach and ran away to avoid his revenge. Matthew soon got a hold of her though and a tickling match was the result. They laughed.
"Ok, we needed that after that metro peril." Mary laughed. They walked on towards the front of the Eifel tower. They got a bit annoyed by the occasional street sellers trying to get you to buy their Eifel tower souvenirs. One even gave Mary a flower and then went to Matthew for the money but Mary soon returned her flower, laughing a bit at Matthew.
