Trials of Gaia: Part 2 "Taking Flight"
“Let’s hear it then,” Gareth insisted.
Chalce grinned. “Heh heh… I’m glad you asked.” She turned her gaze upward, staring toward the fractured island in the sky. “We take the exit on the floating island! It’s the best option by far!”
Gareth raised an eyebrow, considering the orange-haired girl’s words. She seemed pretty confident, but he didn’t know her well enough to understand whether said confidence was warranted. “You mentioned potions. What are the transformation effects; what will we turn into if we consume them?”
“Dragon-kin!” Chalce exclaimed. “I can’t guarantee what type of dragon-kin, but we’ll be able to fly easily. We’ll consume the potions in the morning and fly our way to the exit.”
Gareth frowned, placing his fingers on his chin as he ruminated. He was a pretty good judge of character, and he didn’t sense any ill intent from the young alchemist. “The sooner we leave this place, the better. From what I know of the Trials of Gaia, I got a bad draw for my first trial.”
“Let’s get some sleep then. We have a long day ahead of us tomorrow,” Chalce insisted as she stifled a yawn and stood up from the makeshift crystal bench.
Gareth nodded. “Alright. We’ll reconvene tomorrow. I hope our partnership proves fruitful,” he sighed as he stood and dusted off his tunic.
Chalce and Gareth ate a quick breakfast of etipan and water the following day before packing up camp and getting ready. Both were sparsely dressed, with Gareth only wearing pants and Chalce wearing bloomers and a bra. Since they were going to transform in some way, it was best to avoid any accidental tearing of clothes.
Chalce pulled out two clear vials with red fluid; each one gave off a faint glow. “Here they are! Bottoms up; let’s do it!” She popped the cork off one of the vials and downed the fluid. Once done, she scrunched her nose and stuck out her tongue. “Bleh… Tastes really bitter.” As she spoke, a faint white glow enveloped her.
Gareth took the other vial and closed his eyes. He activated his perception ability and scanned the potion with his magic. He sensed no curse or poison, so he doubted consuming it would kill him. It wasn’t like he expected Chalce to betray him, but it didn’t hurt to be careful.
“Alright, let’s do this,” Gareth muttered as he leaned back and consumed the potion. It tasted of bitter herbs and nearly caused him to gag, but he managed to get it all down without vomiting.
Unlike Chalce, his body didn’t immediately start to glow. “It doesn’t seem to be doing much,” he mused out loud, noting a slight tingle enveloping his body.
“Some people succumb to the changes more quickly-- it will hit you soo--oooooh….” Chalce began to speak when she suddenly moaned. She doubled over as silvery scales started forming on her arms and legs. Her hips and ribs popped as her breasts expanded outward, and she took on a more curvaceous shape.
Gareth watched in awe as Chalce’s face changed. Her eyes became bestial, her ears pointed, and her canine teeth sharpened into fangs. “Are you okay?” He asked in concern.
“Ahhhh! It-- it just-- feels weird…” She moaned as wings sprouted from her back and spread outward. Her breasts inflated from a small B cup into the D range while her bloomers tightly hugged the feminine curve of her body. Before long, a serpentine tail jutted from the base of her spine and extended outward. A thin layer of sweat coated her body while she grunted and writhed, her soft body taking on a toned, lightly muscled quality.
By this point, Gareth still hadn’t begun to change. “Wow-- you really look like a dragon-kin… I guess you weren’t lying about your abilities,” he simply stated as he looked Chalce over. She had scales on her arms, legs, neck, and other places, while a pair of silver-gray horns protruded from her head.
“Heck yeah! Of course, I wouldn’t lie,” Chalce huffed as she unfurled her wings and examined them. Her whole body glowed brightly as her wings grew even more extensive, expanding to an incredible size. “I feel so strong-- so full of energy!”
Gareth was about to speak when Chalce took off and shakily rose into the sky. She started to do some maneuvers. He looked up with a dumbfounded look; he hadn’t expected the potion to work so effectively. “How are you holding up?”
“This is amazing,” Chalce responded. “Come over here; wrap your arms around my waist from the front. Be careful of my wings.”
Gareth stopped in his tracks. Was she really planning to carry him? Dragon-kin did have supernatural strength. “You’re going to carry me? Shouldn’t we wait for my potion to kick in?
“That could take an hour or longer. And there’s no guarantee your wings will work as well as mine… Also, we could end up with my transformation wearing off while waiting for you to transform. Let’s at least give it a shot.”
Gareth grimaced and nodded; Chalce made a good point. “Fine; let’s give it a shot.” He approached Chalce and carefully grabbed onto her, hunching low to avoid her wings. She was small, but he felt great power hiding within her small frame. He hadn’t expected to be hugging a half-naked alchemist girl less than twenty-four hours into the trials.
Chalce took a deep breath and clenched her hands. “Okay, okay… I got this-- I can do this,” she insisted, psyching herself up as her wings fully unfurled. “I think the potion made me into a wind dragon-kin, which is quite lucky! Alright, let’s go!”
Gareth took a deep breath, his heart rate rising as Chalce took off into the sky. The world rushed around him as he looked down and saw the ground getting farther away. Adrenaline surged through him with a mix of emotions. He was elated that the plan worked and worried something would go wrong. “You’re amazing, Chalce.” He heard his doubts, but her potions were the real deal.
“Heh heh… I’m glad you understand my genius!” Chalce giggled, continuing to fly upward toward the fractured island.
A faint red glow enveloped Gareth as they flew. “Ugh…” Gareth groaned as his insides churned. He felt his bones crack and pop while an immense pressure manifested within his body, below his navel. “It’s-- it’s doing something now…” He took shallow breaths as his crotch and chest throbbed. A quick glance at his wrist showed red scales appearing on his skin.
“A little late, but that’s good to h-- AHHHH!” Chalce screamed, looking behind her before speeding up and booking it toward the island and top speed.
Gareth was distracted by a swelling sensation in his chest and by the feeling of his pants tightening while his hips widened. When Chalce screamed, he shakily looked to see what made her scream. His eyes widened in an instant when he saw a monstrously huge, brown-feathered bird in the distance flying toward them. “A-- A Roc?” He grunted, his voice climbing an octave. Rocs were extremely dangerous birds imbued with elemental earth energy.
He clung to Chalce for dear life as they finally neared the island’s topside. The roc released an ear-piercing screech as it sped up and honed in on the pair. In another thirty seconds, it would be upon them.
“Hold on tight!! I’m going for the portal-- I see it!” Chalce cried out. Atop the stone island, a massive, half-circle stone arch showed itself before them. A swirling vortex of orange light filled the space.
“Ughh…” Gareth moaned as his chest uncomfortably chafed against Chalce. He felt his testicles squish into his body as his scrotum tightened; it was a bizarre sensation he couldn’t begin to comprehend or describe amidst the chaos.
The rock soared above the two and dive-bombed toward them with its talons extended. Their escape was entirely down to the wire.
Gareth saw the bird closing in on them and silently prayed for them to make it out alive. Just as the talons closed in from mere yards away, they finally crossed the portal’s boundary.
He felt relief for a split second but was quickly drawn back to how bizarre his body felt. As they traveled through the portal, the world swirled around them, and vertigo consumed him. He wasn’t sure what physical sensations were due to the portal and which were due to the potion.
His chest had grown a healthy pair of C-cup breasts that continued to grow, while his arms, legs, hips, and waist all took on a soft, feminine shape. He felt his spine crack and contort into a supple curve while his cock receded into a fleshy button nestled between the folds of what used to be his scrotum. “Hnnnng!” He moaned in an increasingly feminine voice as his new urethra and vagina popped open amidst her feminine flower.
All of a sudden, they made it to the other side. They tumbled onto the floor of a stone cave floor as Chalce lost control and crashed onto the ground. Gareth suffered only minor bruises as she sat up and placed a hand on her head with a groan. “Fuck… Did we make it? I-- wait, what!?” Her cheeks turned bright crimson as she stared down at a pair of massive tits hanging from her chest. She shakily raised her arms, noticing how soft and feminine they had become. It only took a few more seconds for her to realize she had a dragon tail, horns, and a pair of wings sticking from her back.
Chalce rubbed her head and sat up, looking at Gareth in confusion. “You-- oh… Oh shit…” Her eyes widened as she put a hand over her mouth.
“I-- I’m a woman!” Gareth cried, crossing her arms over her chest as she shakily stood. Her body wobbled as she found her new center of gravity. Everything felt utterly wrong; her hips swayed with each step, and there was a distinct lack of anything between her legs when they pressed together.
“I-- well, umm…” Chalce bit her lip, turning her head away. “I’m not sure how this happened, but the potion should wear off in a few hours!” She let out a weak laugh scratching her head.
Gareth took a deep breath, placing a hand on her forehead. “A few hours?” It was better than being dead, but what would she even wear? “Should we wait-- what do I wear?” She asked, completely overwhelmed as the strange, high-pitched voice flowed from her lips.
“Let me help! So sorry!” Chalce let out a weak laugh. Chalce summoned a dresser from one of her scrolls a minute later and pulled out some clothing items.
Gareth reluctantly accepted Chalce’s help and tried to button a shirt up. When she reached her breasts, she struggled to close the buttons before giving up and standing in defeat with her tits hanging out. “I don’t think this is going to fit,” she muttered in humiliation, turning bright red.
The day ahead would be a long and frustrating one.
