The last few days had been a whirlwind for Chris. Through all of the drastic life changes, she had somehow come out veering on the side of optimism. Life would never be the same, but that didn't mean it couldn't be as good as before.
Chris yawned and rubbed her eyes as she awakened from her slumber. It took her a moment of sitting in the dimly lit room to get her bearings straight. The weight on her chest, combined with her full bladder, was enough to instantly remind her of all the changes that came to pass.
"Oh yeah…" She sighed, glancing down at the shape of her breasts silhouetted by an oversized white tee shirt.
Every day prior, she had woken up and felt a sense of dread in the pit of her stomach upon realizing how irreparably her life had changed. However, today, she felt something different. So she had tits and no cock; was that a big deal? She remembered the fantastic night she spent with Gretchen and Rodrick. No food or drink had been off limits, having devoured meat and booze without so much as a tummy ache. She felt fully refreshed and energized upon waking up, with no aches or pains save some soreness in her breasts.
She wasn't looking forward to her appointments but was excited about the positives today would bring. She planned to purchase and devour a cheesesteak sandwich for dinner-- something her body would have been displeased with previously. Additionally, she had plans to game with Rodrick later that evening. Nothing stopped her from enjoying the same activities she always had, and now she had additional vices to indulge.
'Just gotta get through the day first,' she mused. The paid vacation from work was also a plus. It was different from having a uterus that would impede her ability to remotely perform sysadmin duties. If anything, her deft, feminine fingers made it easier to operate a keyboard without the looming threat of arthritic pain. And, since she consistently woke up feeling energized and refreshed, she expected to be more productive than ever before once she returned to the nine-to-five grind.
Stifling a yawn, she grabbed her phone and noted it was 10:44AM. Considering how late she was up the previous night, she was impressed by how alert she felt. Noticing new messages from Gretchen, she opened the conversation.

9:14 AM
Gretchen: hey, hey!
Gretchen: lmk when ur up <3
9:25AM
Gretchen: I'm curious, so I hope you don't mind me asking, but…
Gretchen: do you need any anatomy lessons? Lol <3
Gretchen: There is a lot I can show you still. ;)
Gretchen: no pressure. I think you're cute, and I might like you a little.
9:47AM
Gretchen: you still need more new clothes, right? Lmk when I can take you shopping!
10:21AM
Gretchen: I guess I kinda spammed you lol. Sorry! Good morning hehe. Imma shut up.
~~~
Chris just blinked, staring at the texts. After taking it all in, her lips curled into a slight smile.There was no way she'd ever mind getting spammed by Gretchen. It was lovely to know she was enthusiastic about helping her through this tumultuous time.
She took a few minutes to consider what Gretchen mentioned about anatomy lessons, her cheeks gradually reddening as she thought over the implications. 'Is that something I'm ready for?' She mused, glancing toward her chest once more. She vividly recalled the sensations that enveloped her as she finished her transformation. Gretchen provided her with an otherworldly sexual experience that became wholly alien and indescribably intense near the end.
Would sex as a woman feel like that? She had been too distracted and bashful to explore her new sex organs beyond brief glances and the obligatory interactions when peeing and bathing. A tinglty, mirthy warmth ever-so-slightly throbbed between her thighs. She initially tried to dismiss her new sex as a flat, nearly featureless void with a pink crevice formed neatly down the center. However, her vulva's sensitivity made that almost impossible. With a small sigh, she responded to Gretchen.
10:49AM
Chris: Mornin! I'll definitely need some new clothes. I'm not sure if I'm looking forward to it or not, though. We can talk about potential lessons later ;)
She then dropped her phone onto the bed and stared at the ceiling. She'd have to leave soon if she would make it to her appointment with Dr. Rowena. Then, after that, she would be seeing her new psychiatrist. It was hard to be an adult who made adult decisions, but she couldn't just sit inside all day and ignore life.
An hour later, Chris sat in the waiting room of Dr. Rowena's office as she idly glanced at the room she had become all too familiar with over the years. Her eyes were drawn toward the only other person in the room-- a well-dressed man sitting in the corner with one leg crossed over the other. Instead of feet, a bare set of hooves protruded from his pant legs. She noticed a short, goat-like tail protruding from his spine and a small set of horns jutting from atop his head at a backward angle. On top of that, his face had a slight animalistic quality.
'I wonder how long it took him to get used to that…' Chris mused as she folded her hands in her lap.
The man glanced up from his phone and smiled, meeting Chris's gaze. "Hope you're having a lovely day, ma'am."
Chris still wasn't used to the whole Miss and ma'am thing, but it also didn't upset her any longer. She felt mildly flustered and slightly embarrassed, but, also-- excited? Was that the right word? It was hard to put her emotions into words. "Y-- Yes. Good, so far," she replied. "How about you?"
"Not bad! Have to get these filed down later. Gettin' a bit unruly, you see," the man laughed, brushing his fingers over one of his horns.
Chris was thankful he hadn't been upset by her staring. "If it means anything, I have some transience-related errands to take care of later myself…" She hesitated and contemplated whether she should say anything else. Acceptance would come more easily if she talked about her experiences, right? "I was completely male until recently. Now I have to stock feminine hygiene products in my bathroom," Chris sighed with a shake of her head. Admitting to her transformation out loud gave her a sense of pride.
The man blinked and scratched his beard in momentary contemplation. "My word. You've truly been through a lot. My condolences," he replied.
Chris faintly blushed. She hadn't been trying to garner sympathy, but she appreciated the gesture. "It's fine-- err… I mean, it's a lot to take in and process," she weakly laughed as she responded. "All things considered, I can't complain too much. My new body has more advantages than I'd like to admit."
The man looked at Chris carefully while tapping his fingers on his knee. "I apologize if this is coming out of left field, but would you potentially be interested in speaking about your transience?"
Chris paused and considered his offer. "In what way? Like, at a public event or in an interview?"
"I should probably introduce myself first," he warmly replied. "I'm Jonas. A professor of transience studies at Shirebrook Community College. I run two podcasts, one being a forum for discussing transience and related matters."
"I'm Chris. It's nice to meet you," she politely replied. A podcast, huh? Was she ready to talk about her transience in front of a crowd? After thinking about it, she honestly wasn't sure. "Can you give me some more info? In what way would I be speaking about my transience?"
Jonas smiled and clasped his hands together, leaning forward in his chair. "If you're feeling up to it, I'd love to bring you on as a guest for a full three-hour show. But, even just 10-15 minutes as a call-in to discuss your experiences would be wonderful."
Chris pursed her lips. 'Could I handle three hours?' After a moment of thinking, she grimaced. 'Could I even handle fifteen minutes?'
"I promise I'm not offended if you say no. Also, there's no hurry. I run my 'Transient Cast' every other Friday from 7PM until 10PM, and you'd be free to join at any time; it's an open invitation." He idly brushed his fingers over one of his horns. "If you join on a day my good friend Aoi is co-hosting, I'll make sure she doesn't get too impassioned and animated," he assured with a grin.
Chris nodded, feeling grateful for the lack of pressure. "I see… I'll be honest. I'm genuinely considering it. Maybe talking about it in that way would help. I don't know if I have anything exciting or groundbreaking to share."
"It's no problem! I promise we wouldn't be drilling you over your experiences with transience the whole time," Jonas assured.
Chris weakly smiled. "Do you have a way for me to contact you? I--”
Before she could finish her sentence, Jonas had a business card in hand, walking over as he held it out for her. "All the information you need is here."
Chris politely nodded and fidgeted with her wallet, sliding the business card behind a credit card. "If you don't mind me asking, what's your other podcast for?"
Jonas sank back into his seat and let out a small laugh. "I'll be frank with you. I'm a massive nerd, and I run a Dungeons and Dragons podcast where I play dungeon master. You're also welcome to join me there if you'd like."
Chris laughed and gave a warm smile. "Honestly, it's kinda tempting. It's been a while since I've indulged in some tabletop mayhem."
Before Jonas could respond, a nurse opened the door and peered into the room. "Mr. Reed, the doctor is ready to see you."
Jonas let out a soft breath as he stood to his feet-- or, hooves to be exact, and gave a nod toward Chris. "I hope to speak to you again soon."
They exchanged pleasantries as Chris watched Jonas disappear out of sight, leaving her alone in the waiting room. She couldn't stop the gears in her brain from turning and causing a commotion, even when she wished they wouldn't. 'Am I ready to speak about this? Have I spent enough time as a girl to have anything interesting to share?' She sighed and sunk into her chair, leaning her head back as she absentmindedly gazed upon the flickering fluorescent light above her head.
Her cheeks gradually flushed red as a new troublesome quandary took over her thoughts; something more confusing to her than determining whether or not she was ready to talk on a podcast. If she did happen to get back into playing Dungeons and Dragons, what on earth would she do about her character? 'Would I play a man or a woman?' She mused, pursing her lips as she fidgeted.
She honestly had no clue. A part of her wanted to confidently play a male character. Just because she had this new form didn't mean she also had to change all fantasy versions of herself. At the same time, something about that thought didn't sit right, and she couldn't quite put her finger on why.
"Do I still feel male? Do I want to be male?" She quietly asked herself. After a little more contemplation, she came to a conclusion that gave her more questions than answers. If she played Dungeons and Dragons, she'd want to play a character who went through the same turmoil. A man who had been turned into a woman through magic. But why make it so complicated? If she wanted to play a man, she could play a man. If she wanted to play a woman, she could play a woman. Ultimately, though, Chris wasn't just a man or a woman. The fact she had been a man who underwent male-to-female transience would always be part of her identity.
"Man…" Chris grunted, letting out a sigh of exasperation. All of this was just so complicated. It was going to take some time to adjust.
When Chris finally came face-to-face with Dr. Rowena, she braced herself for whatever reaction the fluffy feline doctor would have. "Hey-- it's good to see you," she said weakly as she entered the room.
Dr. Rowen's glossy white cat ears perked. "Oh wow!!!" She closed the distance between them, her tail excitedly swishing from side to side. "Chris, you look--," she stopped suddenly, her ears folding to her head as she stepped back. “S-- Sorry… I got excited. I will be more professional."
Chris found it impossible to be upset with the doctor for any reason. The sad look on her face was simply too damn cute. "It's okay-- really, I promise," she assured as she raised her hands. "It's okay to say what you think; I prefer it when everyone is honest with me. Besides, I can tell you're not thinking anything negative." She thought back to the transience resources she thoroughly read over. Those who faced their transformation head-on generally adjusted more quickly and were left with better mental health.
"If you're sure…" The doctor said quietly before quickly becoming animated. "Chris, you look amazing! I know your transience isn't completely over, but-- I just…" She paused to consider her words, placing two fingers on her cheek. "If you had to change sexes, I don't think you could have come out transience looking any better," she grinned.'
Chris faintly blushed as she took a seat in one of the chairs. She wasn't upset by the doctor's compliments, so what was she feeling? Embarrassed and flattered? "I've been told by others that I might be a tad bit cute. I'm glad to have this prognosis confirmed by a healthcare professional," she weakly laughed as she scratched her head.
The doctor beamed and grew energized from Chris's warmth response. "Since you already said it, yes, you're absolutely adorable. And your voice… I bet you could make money off of how lovely you sound. I'm honestly jealous," she giggled.
Chris turned redder, placing her hands over her face. "I'm not sure how to feel about that, but thank you," she mumbled. She had been expecting to feel angry and uncomfortable when people drew attention to her positive female attributes. Instead, she felt this strange, light, and fluttery embarrassment.
"Soorrrry! I'll be better. Please tell me how you've been feeling since the first half of your transience completed," the doctor insisted.
Chris pulled her hands away, happy to change the subject briefly. "I guess I'll start from the top." She took some time to explain everything to Dr. Rowena, starting from when she turned entirely female and all the way up until their current appointment. Some details were glossed over, mostly related to body exploration and the sexual experience that led to her transition from male to female ramping up. She discussed her mental health, detailing how she felt better than expected despite still being deeply confused and needing more time to adjust.
"I'm so proud of you!" The doctor beamed with gentle warmth in her voice. "And I'm happy to hear you're seeing a Psych after this. Dr. Patel is great, I promise." Her fluffy tail gleefully swished.
Chris weakly smiled. "Thanks. I'm trying my best."
Dr. Rowena was brightly smiling when she suddenly blinked, and her expression turned neutral. "I'm sorry to bring this up, but you'll want to schedule a pelvic exam with me. It's definitely not the most fun aspect of being female, but it's important for you to acclimate to your new body's health needs. Routine breast and pelvic exams will help ensure you stay healthy."
Chris stared at the doctor like a deer in headlights. Oh yeah-- she almost forgot. Pelvic exams, breast exams, periods, and more. There were plenty of feminine joys she had yet to experience.
