Laura stared at her father with a mix of awe and horror. The massive, bloated chicken in front of her continued to squawk, letting out a series of euphoric chirps and bawks as she squeezed another large egg from her cloaca.

“Dad found a way to contribute without even needing to lift a finger; isn’t this wonderful?” Cassie asked with a warm smile on her face.

Laura’s first instinct was to scream and ask Cass why the hell she thought their father’s condition was a good thing. She opened her mouth and began to speak when her words caught in her throat. “Whatsh are y--”

“You don’t need to speak. We can communicate telepathically thanks to the bond all of us now share,” Cass warmly replied while fervent clucking flooded the room.

Laura didn’t have time to ask questions. ‘Father can’t really want this-- can he? How are you okay with this?’

“Oh, sweetheart,” Cass gently responded, walking toward her sister as she placed a hand on her cheek. “If Dad wasn’t happier this way, then Rynn wouldn’t have given him this form.” She saw the confused look on her dear sister’s face. “That’s the name of our savior. They’re here to help us.”

Laura hesitated, ignoring the cracking and popping that periodically wracked her bones. ‘He couldn’t really want to be a giant, egg-laying hen, could he? That being-- Rynn could be manipulating him,’ she insisted despite doubting the validity of her words.

Cass gave Laura a thoughtful look, brushing her fingers over her shoulder. “Sweetheart. If you would be happiest as a lovely cow, why can’t Dad be a hen? I’m sure no one would have guessed you wanted this,” she insisted, her lips curling into a grin. “Human desires are peculiar and transient; I don’t see anything wrong with either of you enjoying life in bodies that suit your desires.”

Laura froze in place, trying to think of a response. She wanted to argue, but how could she? After a few more moments of silence, she finally replied. ‘I-- I don’t know if I want to be a cow, though! It’s not like I was asked before getting turned into this!’

Cassie stepped forward and gently wrapped her arms around Laura, pulling her into a warm hug.

“Wh--whwat are you doin?” Laura demanded, feeling her swollen udder press against Cass. Though, she didn’t exactly hate getting hugged by her sister.

“I love you. You know I love you and that you can trust me, right?” Cassie asked with a crimson gleam in her eye.

“Y-- yesh, I--,” she remembered how difficult it was to form words. ‘I love you too. I trust you, but I don’t know if I fully trust that being.’ As they conversed, chirps and bawks continuously echoed through the room.

“Come with me. I want to show you something, okay?” Cass gripped Laura’s hand and gave a gentle squeeze.

Laura stood frozen, staring at her sister for a few seconds before glancing at the bloated chicken, wincing, and then looking back to Cass. She then nodded, gladly taking the opportunity to get away from her father. She took a deep breath and left the room, walking hand-in-hand with her sister down the creaky, wooden hallway floor.

As they walked down the stairs and exited the farmhouse, Laura found standing and walking increasingly difficult. Her legs wobbled and felt less stable than usual. She could only assume that her transformation was progressing further. She squeezed her sister’s hand, a pang of anxiety welling as a torrent of varied emotions rampaged through her. The final stages of her ascendance to cowhood were upon her, weren’t they?

Her hands began to sweat, her body trembling as she followed Cassie into the field toward a massive, red crystal sticking out from the crops like a strange, alien monolith. As they got closer, a faint, unearthly, cicada-like hum reached her sensitive ears. The setting sun shined behind the great crystal pillar, casting a shadow over the sisters.

They finally stopped about ten yards from the structure, prompting Laura to look concerned with Cass, her knees wobbling under the weight of her swollen ass, tits, and udder. ‘Why did you bring me here?’ She cautiously asked. A warm summer breeze wafted through the farm, bringing the lush fragrance of grass to her nostrils. Despite her currently anxious state, she found herself salivating. Would it be so bad to get on all-fours and enjoy the natural, verdant buffet stretching into the horizon? As a cow, she could graze and feast to her heart’s content every day.

“I want to show you how much power you have, Laura,” Cass stated soothingly, letting go of her hand. “Rynn can hear you; why don’t you speak with them? Then you’ll see,” she assured.

Laura bit her lip, gazing upon the immense, crimson crystal column. She knew it was wrong to desire grass and other cow-like vices, but it was impossible to thoroughly shake the feeling that life would be better as a bloated bovine. The thing that concerned her the most was whether or not these desires were of her own invention. Did she want to be a cow, or did ‘Rynn’ mind fuck her into desiring the life of a lazy, spoiled farm animal?

“Take your time. I won’t interfere,” Cassie promised. She walked back a dozen yards and allowed her sister to speak with Rynn alone.

Laura took a deep breath, trying her hardest to calm her nerves. This crystal ‘thing’ was the cause of all of this. Their savior rescued them from a cruel fate of back-breaking labor, but it was also a terrifying alien being with dubious motives. What answer was she looking for?

‘You-- you did this… Why are you here? Why are you doing all of these things?’ Laura demanded as saliva dripped from her mouth and onto the ground. The thought of feasting on mother nature’s bounty remained a flicker in the back of her head.

‘It is good to speak with you formally. I can reach out to you from anywhere at will, but I was hoping you would seek me out,” the entity replied. It was impossible to tell whether Rynn’s projected voice sounded masculine or feminine. ‘First, please tell me. Are you happier than you were a few months ago?’

Laura knew Rynn would respond but still felt shocked when the being spoke directly into her head. A few months ago, her mind was clouded and filled with nothing but anger and regret. When she thought about it, she realized that she had experienced more moments of blissful happiness in the short time Rynn had shown up than she had previously as a slave laborer. ‘There have been more moments of joy, yes. But also anxiety and terror.’

‘I am hoping we can remain friends for a very long time, Laura,” Rynn replied without missing a beat. ‘May I tell you a little about myself? Doing so may alleviate some of your concerns.’

Laura let out a low sigh, wincing as her legs grew tired and heavy. She finally decided to sit on the ground cross-legged, being extremely careful to avoid agitating her massive milk mounds and engorged udder. ‘Yes, okay.’

‘Thank you,’  Rynn warmly replied. ‘I will do my best to keep my story concise. I am an ancient being who has existed for tens of thousands of years.”  The entity carefully observed Laura before continuing. ‘My home planet had been dying for centuries, and I had the privilege of watching my friends, family, and loved ones wither away. I devoted myself to finding a way to help them. Over time, I unraveled many secrets of the universe. I obtained immortality and a form that would never die, but it was too late. By then, the last vestiges of my race-- my brethren, had been snuffed out.’

As Laura listened, she found it hard to believe any of this. Regardless, she found herself transfixed. She doubted Rynn was lying to her.

‘By the time I had discovered how to shed my mortal coil and ascend, very few of my kind were left. I pleaded with them, begging that they follow me to the next plane of existence.’  There was a brief pause before Rynn continued. ‘They refused, choosing death over loneliness. Without a need for food, sleep, or shelter, I lived for millennia. I got lost in my research, learning much about how the fabric of reality itself is woven.’

Laura wasn’t sure where this story was going but was transfixed. ‘Were you lonely?’ Living on a barren rock for so long seemed like a miserable existence; it was hard to comprehend how beings of Rynn’s nature thought and felt.

‘You are a smart one,’ the crystal spire replied. ‘I told myself that I was a being completely fueled by logic and a lust for knowledge, but that facade crumbled over time. My pursuits felt empty and meaningless without other sapient beings to cohabitate with. I set out into space, traveling rapidly toward a spark of life I sensed out in the cosmos.’

‘You came to earth so… You could make friends?’ Laura skeptically asked. ‘Couldn’t you have told us your intentions before doing as you please?’

‘It is not like mortal beings to trust otherworldly aliens. Actions speak louder than words, so I decided to improve the lives of my new brothers and sisters.’

Laura’s heart raced as she breathed deeply and adjusted her throbbing tits. She felt a tight sensation in her wrists, and her fingers seemed stiff when she wiggled them. ‘Are you trying to take over our planet? Do you want to rule over us?’

‘I have no such ambition,’ Rynn insisted. ‘My only desire is to make friends. By improving all of your lives, I have proven my value. Even when you and many others change form, I will ensure that all of you can communicate telepathically.’

Laura still didn’t completely trust Rynn, but she couldn’t deny how much the prospect of cow life excited her. She could even chat with Brittney, her sister, and anyone else whenever she pleased. That would alleviate one of her biggest concerns with the bovine transformation if she could freely communicate with her friends and loved ones despite being a cow. ‘What if I don’t want to be a cow? What if I beg you to turn me back into a human right now? If you’re my friend, you won’t force me to be something against my will, would you?’

‘If you beg me to return you to your previous form, I will do so.’

Laura’s eyes widened as she gazed at the crimson monolith with a shocked expression. Surely it couldn’t be that easy; she expected Rynn to create some roundabout logic to justify why she couldn’t be human again. ‘You’re serious?’

‘Yes. Just tell me with total clarity and confidence that you do not want to be a cow. You desire to live as a human and have no desire to be a cow. If you do so, I will undo the transformation.’

A surge of adrenaline consumed Laura, her heart pounding in her chest. She broke into a cold sweat as she clenched and unclenched her stiff hands, unintentionally tearing grass from the soil. It was tempting to shove the green strands into her mouth for a quick snack, but she repressed the urge. ‘Then-- then I want you to… I want you to…’  Her thought train trailed off.

‘You want me to do what?’ Rynn gently replied.

Laura just had to say the words. That she wanted to be a human and that she had no desire to live as a cow. She would demand her humanity back with complete confidence. “I-- I wanth,” she used her mouth to speak but stopped, leaving her mouth agape as she froze like a deer in headlights. Of course, she wanted to live as a human; the distractions of cow hood were pleasant, but there was no way she could prefer devolving into an herbivorous beast-- right? “I w-- wahnt…” Her words slurred while the fragrance of nature assailed her sinuses. She remembered eating off the floor at the salad bar, the aftermath of which had been a traumatizing and isolating experience. Her brain honed in on the positives and demanded that she forfeit petty thoughts of regretful humiliation. Those vegetables had been incredible; eating off the floor had been a liberating triumph.

‘Take your time; there is no rush for you to answer me,’ Rynn promised.

Laura trembled, placing her hands over her face. Her friends betrayed her when she started showing cow-like qualities; they left her all alone. Her last months as a human before the alien visitor had been a constant, waking nightmare. She lowered her hands, tears welling as she scanned the field around her. There was grass as far as the eye could see and cows grazing in the pasture in the distance. Her precious cows wouldn’t judge her for enjoying such an appealing banquet, would they? No, she had even eaten with them recently, and they happily chewed alongside her. “Oh gahd…” She stammered, struggling to form words as the bones in her face started to creek and shift. Her fingers had grown so much she couldn’t bend the tips. “Why-- why cahnt eh sah I wahnt to beh h--hooooman…” A low moo uttered from her lips mid-sentence as her swollen udder pulsed and dribbled milk onto the dirt.

“It’s okay, Laura,” Cassie suddenly stated, approaching her sister as she knelt and placed a comforting hand on her shoulder. “Your changes will be over soon. I can see your hands changing,” she said with a maternal smile.

Laura stared at her hands with a stupefied expression, feeling as though her bones were made of clay and invisible hands reshaped her from the inside. She tried to move her fingers, but her hands involuntarily curled into fists, her digits merging together. They were gone. Her fucking hands were gone. “Fuck-- I… No… I shouldn’t be so excited… I shouldn’t be happy!” She cried with a mix of fear and excitement. Seconds later, her ribs began to ache, followed by all the bones in her torso.

“It’s okay to feel conflicted. I promise you will be milked and loved every single day. Rynn told me about your new boyfriend as well; I’ll make sure he makes it to the farm as a virile male bull,” Cass reassuringly promised, rubbing her hand up and down her sister’s back.

The fingers on Laura’s hands darkened and calcified, each of her pseudo-hooves splitting down the center as a distinct cloven look appeared. She wanted to scream and beg to be human again but found it impossible. ‘When did this happen?’ She thought to herself, completely dumbfounded.

The thought of returning to a human body started to scare her more than the prospect of living without hands.
