Sulfur Shelf Mushroom

We passed this group of fungus while walking from the escarpment down to Lake Of the Clouds. I had tentatively identified it as a sulfur shelf mushroom, which is edible. I didn't pick it because I wasn't at all sure.

A quick internet search later proved that I was correct. At least, I'm fairly confident that I'm correct.

Which brings us to the number one rule of collecting wild edible fungi: Make very certain that you have identified the fungus without a shadow of a doubt. Getting it wrong can be deadly.

I would like to try sulfur shelf fungus sometime. It supposedly tastes like chicken.

Really

I'm not kidding.
