Sulfur Shelf Mushroom<br /><br />We passed this group of fungus while walking from the escarpment down to Lake Of the Clouds. I had tentatively identified it as a sulfur shelf mushroom, which is edible. I didn't pick it because I wasn't at all sure.<br /><br />A quick internet search later proved that I was correct. At least, I'm fairly confident that I'm correct.<br /><br />Which brings us to the number one rule of collecting wild edible fungi: Make very certain that you have identified the fungus without a shadow of a doubt. Getting it wrong can be deadly.<br /><br />I would like to try sulfur shelf fungus sometime. It supposedly tastes like chicken.<br /><br />Really<br /><br />I'm not kidding.
