This picture was taken from the overlook at Straits State Park near Saint Ignace, Michigan. I did a lot of experimenting with cropping and exposure. I had some problems with camera motion, but a few pictures came out well. I like the way the reflections silhouette the evergreen trees.

The Mackinac (MACK-in-naw) Bridge connects Michigan's lower and upper peninsulas. It goes from Mackinaw City to Saint Ignace, It is five miles long and spans the Straits of Mackinac.

(And yes, the city name is spelled differently.)

It was built in the late fifties, and is one of the few big projects that came in on time and under budget. It's a beautiful structure, and a favorite of photographers.
