Euphagus cyanocephalus<br /><br />The iridescent purple head is one of the distinguishing features of the male brewer's blackbird.<br /><br />When I was a kid, we used to call them grackles. In fact, they are often mistaken for the common grackle. My mother, who does a bit of bird watching, looked it up a number of years ago.
