"Don’t worry, sweetheart, the photographer will be ready for you when you walk down the aisle."

“Yes, but—”

“The bridesmaids are all lined up perfectly.”

“Yes, bu—”

“Your father is absolutely beaming, ready to give away his little girl.”

“Yes, b—”

“Oh, Angie, you look so gorgeous in that dress, just like I always imagined you would!”

“Yes—”

“And here, something old! I know you’ve already got your something borrowed, new, and blue. You’re set, my darling!”

“Yes, bu—”

“Oops! Sorry, sweetie, you had a question?”

Andrew, or rather Angie, clutched the skirts of her elaborate wedding dress, looking down at the intricate embroidery, shimmering pearls, and a faint pattern of the One Piece Jolly Roger subtly stitched into the bodice. The dress cinched at her waist so tightly it might as well have been a corset, the layers of fabric flaring out in a cascade of snowy ruffles. Her orange hair tumbled in elegant waves around her shoulders, and the makeup—what was with all this makeup?

Her eyes darted to her reflection in the full-length mirror. She looked exactly like Nami from One Piece, but as a petite, real-life version. Her heart raced.

"WHERE AM I? WHY AM I IN A DRESS? WHY, MOM, DO YOU ONLY REMEMBER ME AS A GIRL? AND MOST IMPORTANTLY… WHO AM I SUPPOSED TO BE MARRYING?!" She threw up her hands in frustration. "This was just a normal Thursday!"

Her mom, unfazed, began adjusting the veil on Andrew's head, fussing with every detail. "Oh, Angie, you always get like this when you’re nervous. Remember your first cosplay competition? You nearly backed out because you thought your Sailor Mars wig was crooked!"

"*I didn’t dress as Sailor Mars, Mom, that was Bryan! I went as Goku, and it was a wigless costume!" Andrew snapped, stomping a dainty foot that was crammed into ridiculously high heels. “And stop calling me Angie! I’m Andrew—ANDREW! Your son!”

His mother waved her hand dismissively. “Oh, sweetie, you’ve been my little Angie since forever. You loved those comic books, space movies, and whatever those Japanese cartoons are called—‘Ana-may?’ You’re such a petite thing now! Just look at you! The dress fits perfectly. You’re the picture of feminine elegance!”

Andrew groaned, pulling at the neckline of the dress, which showed off more of his surprisingly delicate collarbones than he was comfortable with. "Mom! I’m not petite! I was 5'10" yesterday!"

His mother tilted her head thoughtfully, towering over him in her own sleek outfit. “Oh, honey, maybe 5'10" in your imagination. Honestly, you’re barely 5'2" in those heels! You’ve always been such a little thing.”

Andrew’s protest died in his throat as the doors to the bridal suite burst open. His best friend, Jane, entered, looking like an absolute vision. Her dark hair cascaded down her back in glossy waves, and her figure was draped in a sleek, Nico Robin-inspired gown, complete with a dramatic slit up one side. Her deep blue eyes sparkled as she approached, the bouquet of navy and gold roses in her hands matching the One Piece-themed wedding decor.

Andrew’s jaw dropped. “J-Jane?”

“Angie!” Jane exclaimed, a wide grin spreading across her face. “You look amazing! Just like Nami—seriously, the dress is perfect. I told your mom it would suit you.”

“YOU’RE THE ONE I’M SUPPOSED TO BE MARRYING?!” Andrew blurted out, his voice cracking.

Jane tilted her head in confusion. “Uh, yeah? Did you forget? You were the one who proposed after our One Piece marathon! You said, ‘Let’s set sail on the Grand Line together, as wife and wife!’ Remember?”

Andrew blinked rapidly. “That… sounds like something I’d say. But I wasn’t serious! Was I?”

Jane smirked. “You were blushing like crazy when I said yes, so, yeah, I’m pretty sure you were.”

His mother clapped her hands together. “See? You’re marrying your best friend! It’s perfect! Now, let’s get you down that aisle before I start crying again.”

Andrew—no, Angie—stared at the wedding invitations sprawled across the table. There it was, in gold foil: Angela Marie Thompson & Jane Elizabeth Parker. It even included an illustration of them as their One Piece counterparts. The cake design, also prominently displayed, featured a treasure chest spilling over with fondant gold coins and mini figurines of their favorite One Piece characters.

Jane leaned closer, adjusting Angie’s necklace, which was shaped like the Going Merry’s figurehead. “Relax,” she whispered with a wink. “This’ll be the best adventure yet. Besides, I always liked you better as Nami.”

Despite himself, Angie felt a flicker of warmth. Maybe this wasn’t so bad.
