Gary slumped into the back office of Burgerlicious, his shoulders sagging with a familiar sense of defeat. His greasy hair hung in limp strands, framing his perpetually sour expression. At 47, he was a walking cliché of mid-life disappointment, perpetually reeking of fries and failed dreams. The office was a depressing mirror of its manager – cramped, with faded motivational posters peeling off the walls and a constant soundtrack of fryer buzz and the high-pitched chatter of his employees. He hated the term 'employees', preferring to mentally dub them "the girls" with a sneer that never quite reached his lips. Most of his staff were barely out of high school. To Gary, they were a swarm of giggling, phone-obsessed irritants. Their lives, a chaotic blur of selfies and questionable boyfriends, were a constant reminder of his own lackluster existence. As manager of Burgerlicious, his kingdom consisted of greasy counters, perpetually broken milkshake machines, and customers with a knack for finding hair in their fries. He glanced at his reflection in the cracked mirror. A tired, overweight man with a permanent frown gazed back at him. His bitterness, festering for years, had turned rancid. The girls, with their endless energy and optimism, were a constant target for his resentment. Scrolling through the day's sales reports, Gary scowled. A glaring error practically leapt off the screen. "Figures," he grumbled, slamming his meaty hand on the desk. "Who's the idiot this time?" Mindy, a petite girl with a nose ring and a shock of blue hair, was rushing past, a tray of milkshakes precariously balanced in her hands. She was his prime suspect. "Mindy!" he barked, causing her to jump and nearly lose her grip on the tray. "Y-yes, Mr. Miller?" she stammered, eyes widening nervously. "Get in here!" He jabbed a finger towards his office. Mindy scuttled inside, carefully depositing the tray on his desk. Gary gestured at the screen, seething. "Look at this! You screwed up the whole order! Can't you do anything right?" He hated when customers complained, even if it was justified. It made them seem entitled, and made him seem… subservient. Mindy wrung her hands. "I'm sorry, Mr. Miller. It got busy, and I just…" "Busy?" he scoffed. "Girl, you think this is busy? Back in my day, we worked real jobs, not this… fast food nonsense." He gestured vaguely at the buzzing restaurant. "You kids today, with your phones and your… whatever stupid thing is popular now. Bet you can't even work a cash register without looking it up first." Mindy's cheeks flushed, tears threatening to spill from her heavily lined eyes. "I was trying…" she whispered, but trailed off, overwhelmed. Gary launched into a full-blown rant, enjoying the sound of his own voice and the release of his bottled-up frustrations. "Trying ain't enough! This is a business, not a social club. But your generation, all you care about is your likes and followers! I bet you think just showing up deserves a trophy!" As Gary's insults rained down on her, Mindy struggled to hold back sobs. She had a reason for being distracted today, a reason she desperately wanted to keep private. Her endometriosis was flaring up, pain radiating through her body despite the painkillers she'd choked down earlier. But Gary wouldn't believe her, wouldn't understand. His tirade reached a crescendo. "Honestly, girls like you… you probably just want some guy to knock you up so you can stay home all day…" Sarah, her usually cheerful face twisted with fury, stormed into the cramped office. "Honestly, Gary, shut up! Mindy's doing her best, and you're just being a jerk!" Gary, momentarily startled, sputtered, "W-what? I'm her boss! I'll talk to her however I damn well please." Sarah, hands planted on her hips, glared defiantly. "You can't talk to people like that, especially not your employees! It's disrespectful and gross." Gary flushed, a mix of anger and embarrassment bubbling in his gut. "Listen, kid, I've been working since you were in diapers. Don't tell me how to run my restaurant." "Fine," Sarah scoffed. "But don't come crying to me when all your 'girls' walk off the job because they're tired of being treated like crap." "They wouldn't dare," Gary blustered, but a flicker of doubt passed through his mind. He'd been pushing his staff hard lately. “If you need to use your mouth so much how bout you wrap it around some guy and give a good suck your mouth is better for that anyway” "Oh, I get it," she snapped. "My mouth is good for other things, huh? But you, Gary, with your greasy hair, your pot belly, and your outdated opinions – what are you good for? Telling young women how worthless they are?" Gary attempted a smirk, but it came off more like a defeated grimace for the first time even he thought maybe he crossed a line. "Ah, come on, it was just a joke." "A joke?" Sarah's voice rose to a dangerous pitch. "You think that's funny, Gary? You think you're so much better because you're a man, and you're a little older? Well, let's test that theory." A strange glint entered Sarah's eyes, a mix of mischief and righteous fury. "You want me to use my mouth for something else, Gary? Fine. I'll speak a little wish for you, a little curse to even the playing field." She closed her eyes, muttering under her breath. Gary scoffed, an attempt to mask the growing sense of unease settling in his stomach. Sarah's voice began to rise and fall, a rhythmic chant filling the cramped office. "Your power, your pride, they mean nothing now. Your age, your weight, they'll shift and flow." Gary felt a prickling sensation run down his spine. He gasped as his reflection in the mirror flickered, his image warping like a distorted funhouse reflection. "That strength you take for granted? Gone. Now you'll know what it's like to look up at everyone, to always be the smallest one in the room," Sarah continued, her words laced with a strange energy. His muscles seemed to shrink, his belly soften, and a wave of dizziness washed over him. "What the hell is this?" he sputtered, his voice taking on a higher, uncertain pitch. He reached for his crotch, only to pull his hand back in shock. "That 'funny little thing' you mock so much? Let's see how funny you find your own, so small, so pathetic…" Sarah chuckled acidly. "It's the perfect size for a clitoris, though." A scream echoed in the office as Gary – or what was left of Gary – doubled over, clutching his altered anatomy in a surge of pain and humiliation. Sarah's relentless chant continued. "That height? Now the other girls will tower over you. And all that 'experience'? Worthless. Enjoy starting from the bottom again, little missy, where you belong," Sarah taunted. "But we're not done yet," Sarah declared, a cruel smile playing on her lips. "That tired, old face? That disheveled appearance? Things women are judged for twice as harshly? They'll disappear. Now you'll be so pretty, no one can ignore you, ever again." His wrinkles vanished, his skin clearing into smooth, youthful perfection. Tears streamed down his cheeks, but they glistened now on the delicate features of a young woman. "And just to top it off," Sarah smirked, "Let's add something special… vibrant red hair, fiery as your temper.....well was, for now I think your more mouse than lion" As the last word faded, a shock of crimson cascaded over the newly transformed woman's head replacing the faded brown. Sarah leaned down, her voice dripping with dark satisfaction. "Open your eyes, Gary. Or should I say… Gabrielle?" Gabrielle whimpered, looking up with wide, terrified eyes. Sarah, finally spent, slumped back against the desk, a sense of triumph washing over her. The other girls, drawn in by the commotion, stared in stunned silence at the sight before them. Their tyrant manager was gone, replaced by a terrified, petite redhead.
Gabrielle, or whatever Sarah had turned her into, stood up on shaky legs. Her head swam, and a wave of nausea threatened to rise. Her eyes darted around the room, taking in the accusing stares of her former colleagues. The uniform she'd worn this morning, a baggy mess back then, now hung off her frame like oversized pajamas. The shirt gaped open in the front, revealing a tantalizing glimpse of soft white flesh, a sight that would have made her scoff as Gary, but now sent a blush creeping up her neck. She looked down at her once-comfortable sweatpants. Now, they pooled around her shoes, the waistband threatening to slip down with every trembling breath. Her reflection in the mirror was a stranger. Her face, once etched with middle-aged bitterness, was now that of a terrified young woman. Her features were smooth and youthful, but the fear in her wide, emerald eyes was a testament to the ordeal she'd just endured. Gabrielle couldn't help but self-consciously explore her new body. Her hands, no longer calloused and strong, were small and delicate. Her legs, once thick and sturdy, felt spindly and short. She estimated she was at least three inches shorter than 5'2” Mindy, and every pound of muscle she'd built working years in kitchens seemed to have melted away. The humiliation was a physical sensation. Every curve, every exposed inch of skin felt like a glaring accusation. Tentatively, she reached up and touched the surprisingly soft swell of a breast. It was a foreign sensation, one that filled her with a mix of curiosity and terror. Suddenly, a warm voice broke through the fog. "Gabrielle, dear? Perhaps you've had enough feeling yourself up for one day. Why don't you put on a uniform and get to work?" The voice belonged to Ms. Patel, or at least, that's who Gabrielle remembered her as. A kind, seasoned woman in her fifties who worked at Burgerlicious before Gary. Gabrielle vaguely recalled Gary getting the manager position over her, a choice fueled by nepotism rather than merit. Now, Ms. Patel looked… different. Her eyes held a knowing glint, and a faint smirk played on her lips. "U-uniform?" Gabrielle stammered, her voice barely a whisper. She tried to speak louder, to demand an explanation, but the words wouldn't come. The fear Sarah had unleashed seemed to bind her tongue, making even a raised voice sound like a whimper. Ms. Patel gestured towards Gary's, now her, former desk. "Yes, dear. We have uniforms over there. One should fit you." Gabrielle, fueled by a desperate need to cover her exposed skin, shuffled towards the desk. She stole a glance at the uniform hanging there. It was a monstrosity – a hot pink monstrosity with a low-cut neckline and a skirt so short it would have been considered risqué even on a teenager. This was the uniform Gary had insisted on, a decision he'd probably made fueled by a perverted sense of humor. Now, the thought of wearing it made her stomach churn. With trembling hands, she pulled on the uniform. The fabric stuck to her damp skin, highlighting the curves she wasn't used to seeing. The skirt barely reached her mid-thighs, leaving her legs feeling uncomfortably exposed. Although she was so little the uniform still fit her big Standing there, in this ridiculous pink uniform, Gabrielle felt like a caricature of a woman, a cheap knock-off of the beautiful, confident women she'd always secretly admired. A tear escaped her eye, tracing a path down her smooth cheek. Maybe Sarah was right. Maybe this was what she deserved.
Gabrielle, no longer the imposing figure of Gary, shuffled out of the office, her head hung low. Every step felt like wading through mud, the oversized shoes clomping awkwardly on her tiny feet. The once familiar kitchen now seemed like a vast, intimidating space. The girls, her former targets, watched her approach with a mix of amusement and something akin to predatory glee. Sarah, her fiery hair framing a mischievous grin, was the first to speak. "Well, well, well," she drawled, her voice dripping with mock sweetness. "Look who finally decided to join the party, little miss newbie?" The other girls joined in, a chorus of snickers and catcalls filling the air. "Hey there, short stuff!" chirped Ashley, the tallest of the crew, playfully swatting at Gabrielle's head with a spatula. Gabrielle flinched, the years of ingrained arrogance replaced by a crippling shyness. She stammered a weak greeting, her voice barely a squeak. "Alright, newbies," Sarah declared, her voice taking on a patronizing tone. "Since Gabrielle here is fresh out of the womb," she gestured at Gabrielle with a exaggerated flourish, "I think it's time she learned the ropes, starting with fries. Lots and lots of fries." And so began Gabrielle's descent into fast-food purgatory. Her new, petite stature made everything a struggle. Reaching for fries in the high fryer, once a simple task as Gary, was now an acrobatic feat. Gripping heavy trays caused her arms to wobble precariously, threatening to send burgers and fries flying. The girls watched with a sadistic glee, taking turns to "help" her. Chloe, the resident prankster, tripped Gabrielle with a well-placed foot, sending a tray of milkshakes cascading to the floor. "Whoops!" she exclaimed, feigning innocence. "Looks like someone forgot how to walk!" A giggle erupted from behind the counter. Jessica, a girl Gary had once called "too slow on the register," was now the seasoned pro. "Hey, new girl," she drawled, a sly grin on her face. "Let's see if you can handle a real customer." She shoved Gabrielle towards the front, a burly man with a leering grin probably in his fifties, already fixed on her. "Hey there, shortcake," he said, his voice thick with a suggestive drawl. "What's a pretty little thing like you doing slinging burgers?" Memories of Gary's own behavior towards female customers flooded Gabrielle's mind, a wave of nauseating hypocrisy threatening to drown her. "C-can I take your order, please?" she stammered, her voice barely audible. The man leaned closer, his gaze lingering on her chest, now shamefully accentuated by the low-cut uniform. "Sure, sweetheart," he leered. "But first, how about my number?, how about you give me a little smile, huh?" Gabrielle felt tears prick her eyes. This was the power she'd wielded over these girls – the power to demean and objectify. Now, the tables were turned, and the humiliation was a bitter pill to swallow. She mumbled the order with trembling lips, desperate to escape the man's predatory gaze. The rest of the afternoon unfolded in a similar fashion. Spills, pranks, and constant sexual harassment chipped away at her already fragile spirit. One particularly cruel incident involved Ashley, who, under the guise of "checking if they were real," poked Gabrielle's breast with a sharp fingernail. The resulting yelp and the clatter of a dropped tray of fries brought a chorus of guffaws. Finally, unable to bear the torture any longer, Gabrielle burst into tears. Sobbing uncontrollably, she fled the kitchen, seeking refuge in the cool, empty bathroom. As she slumped against the cold tile wall, tears streaming down her flushed cheeks, a wave of bitter realization washed over her. This was just a taste of what she'd dished out for years. Now, shrunken, weak, and vulnerable, she finally understood the sting of her own cruelty. A hesitant knock sounded on the bathroom door. Gabrielle flinched, her heart drumming a terrified beat. More humiliation? More mockery? It seemed unending, and all too deserved. "G-go away!" she squeaked, her voice choked with sobs. "L-leave me alone!" "Gabrielle?" came the muffled reply. It was Mindy's voice, softer, gentler than Gabrielle ever remembered hearing it. The unexpected kindness made her sobs intensify, the shame washing over her in suffocating waves. "Mindy, please," Gabrielle whimpered, "I can't… I can't take any more…" "Hey, it's gonna be okay," Mindy soothed, her voice reaching through the door. "I'm not here to hurt you. Can I… can I please come in?" Gabrielle hesitated. On the one hand, there was a part of her that just wanted to curl up on the cold tile and never face the world again. But Mindy's words, her gentle tone, held an unexpected lifeline. Maybe, just maybe, she wouldn't face this alone. "Alright," Gabrielle whispered, a small flicker of hope igniting in her chest. The door creaked open, and Mindy stepped inside. She knelt beside the trembling girl, her eyes filled with a mixture of pity and a glimmer of something else – a hint of the usual mischief, but this time with an intriguing twist. "Oh, honey," Mindy said softly, reaching out a hand. "What did they do to you?" Gabrielle buried her face in her hands, her sobs escaping as muffled bursts of anguish. "I-I don't even know who I am anymore," she choked out, "I was… h-he was so awful to you… to all of you. And now…" Her voice trailed off, the horror of her past actions crashing down on her. Mindy gently stroked her hair. "It's okay, Gabrielle," she murmured. "Take your time. We'll work through this…" Her voice trailed off, hesitation replacing the usual confidence. "It's a bit of a shock, huh?" "Oh, Mindy, I'm so sorry." Gabrielle looked up, tears blurring her vision. "I was so horrible. I-I never understood… I thought I was strong and…" She sputtered, searching for the right words. "I acted like being a woman was some kind of weakness…" Her voice cracked. The thought of referring to herself as one of "the girls" was strange, yet thrilling. "I deserve this," she whispered. "I… I deserve so much worse." Mindy shook her head. "No, Gabrielle, you don't," she said firmly. "What you deserve is a chance. What happened today was… well, let's just say it's certainly an eye-opener, isn't it?" Gabrielle stared at her, confusion warring with a spark of hope. "Eye-opener?" "Yeah, you know," Mindy grinned. "You're super cute. Way prettier than Gary ever was. And itty-bitty...which, let's just say, has always been a bit of a thing for me." She winked, a playful glint in her eye. Gabrielle gasped, her cheeks flushing. It was as though a bolt of lightning had struck her. The fear and shame evaporated, replaced by a rush of heat she didn't recognize. Was she… aroused? "Whoa there, tiger," Mindy chuckled softly. "Plenty of time to explore that later. Right now, let's get you out of this bathroom and figure out the next step, okay?" Mindy helped Gabrielle up. Still trembling, Gabrielle met Mindy's gaze. A wave of gratitude washed over her. "Thank you, Mindy," she said quietly. "I… I don't know what I would do without you." Mindy smiled warmly. "Well, let's just say," she said with a twinkle in her eye, "I'm not quite ready to let my favorite new trainee quit just yet.”
Gabby laughed “I've been doing this job longer than you've been born.”
“Really? You never mentioned it before? “ Mindy said with lots of sarcasm “You don't know how to do it at this size though my sweet little gnome, bot honestly, Gabrielle? Things are about to get a whole lot more interesting around Burgerlicious..."
