Lewis was a man of deep convictions, pragmatic as they come. A software engineer by trade and a philosophy enthusiast by passion, he liked to keep his life straightforward. Working long hours during the week and diving into heavy philosophical texts during the weekends, Lewis was someone who considered himself to be the antithesis of superficiality.
Physically, he was unremarkable—average height, wiry build, with a mop of brown hair that was perpetually in need of a good combing. His eyes were his most noticeable feature, intensely blue and always appearing to be in deep thought. His wardrobe was functional: plain t-shirts, jeans, and sensible shoes that didn't draw attention.
This particular day had been taxing. Deadlines were looming, and he was lost in the labyrinthine logic of his latest coding project. As he walked down the city street, his phone buzzed. Annoyed at the interruption, he fished it out of his pocket.
It was an offer from "Elysian Beauty Salon" for a manicure. "Uncover a Whole New You!" the notification boldly claimed.
"Superficial nonsense," he muttered under his breath. He was about to dismiss the notification when a subtext caught his eye: "Experience a complete perspective change, or your money back."
As much as he loathed the trivialities of beauty and grooming, the promise of a "perspective change" was tantalizing. For someone who spent his free time delving into the works of Sartre and Camus, the offer sounded almost like a philosophical experiment.
"Could this be a form of experiential philosophy?" he thought, somewhat sarcastically. "An actual exercise in challenging one's worldview?"
With a combination of skepticism and reluctant curiosity, he tapped on the offer. The salon wasn't far from where he was, and they had an open slot in twenty minutes. "Fine," he sighed. "Let's get this over with."
As he made his way to the salon, he couldn't shake off the absurdity of the situation. Here he was, a man who discussed the nuances of existential despair, now walking into a beauty salon. It was laughable, and yet, a part of him was genuinely intrigued by what kind of perspective change a mere manicure could bring about.
And so, with a sense of incredulous anticipation, Lewis pushed open the doors to the Elysian Beauty Salon. As Lewis walked into the Elysian Beauty Salon, the air seemed to thicken around him with the heavy aroma of essential oils and nail polish. The décor was elegant and ethereal, all whites and golds with an undercurrent of calming blues. Several uniformed workers attended to clients, their hands gracefully moving as if conducting some sort of beauty symphony.
"Hello, sir! Welcome to Elysian. You must be Lewis?" The receptionist, an effervescent young woman with a name tag that read "Mara," greeted him warmly.
"Yes, that's me," Lewis replied, still unsure of what he had gotten himself into.
"Great, we have everything ready for you. Please, have a seat."
Lewis was led to a plush, reclining chair. A table sat before him with an array of small tools and various shades of nail polish. His manicurist, a woman in her early 30s with a serene demeanor, introduced herself as Cecilia.
"So, Lewis, have you ever had a manicure before?" Cecilia inquired as she prepared the bowl of warm water for his hands.
"Ah, no. First time. I got an offer, and it mentioned something about a perspective change?" Lewis felt awkward talking about this, given his lack of interest in anything he considered superficial.
Cecilia smiled mysteriously. "Ah, yes. The perspective change is the most important part of the experience. Here, wear this sleep mask. It will help you relax while the products work their magic."
As Cecilia began working on his nails, Lewis put on the sleep mask. The chair was surprisingly comfortable, and the ambient music was soothing. Despite his reservations, Lewis felt his eyelids grow heavy. He drifted into a light slumber, thinking that maybe there was something to this "relaxation" thing after all.
Suddenly, Lewis was jolted awake by a shrill voice. "Oh my God, girl, are you ready to see your mani? It looks so cute!"
Confused, he answered automatically, "Uh, sure—" The voice that came out was not his. It was higher, airier, buzzing like that of a young woman's.
Panicked, he pulled off the sleep mask. The environment had shifted entirely. Gone were the subdued colors and elegant décor of Elysian Beauty Salon. He was now sitting in a room adorned with sorority paraphernalia, pastel walls, and a plush, pink carpet.
Looking down at his hands, Lewis—or perhaps he should think of himself as "she" now—saw that they were slimmer, more delicate. His nails were impeccably done, but that was the least shocking aspect. He was wearing what seemed like women's casual sleepwear, and he couldn't help but notice how different his body felt.
"Like, are you okay? You look so shocked, Kimmy!" The sorority girl standing before him was the epitome of bubbly, with blonde curls and a gleeful expression.
Kimmy? Is that who he was now? And more importantly, how had his philosophical pursuit of a 'new perspective' led him here? As his new voice buzzed in his ears, and as he took in his shockingly feminine appearance, Lewis—now Kimmy—felt as though she had tumbled down an existential rabbit hole from which there might be no return.
"Omigosh, what the heck is going on? Like, who are all of you?" Lewis's voice came out as a cascade of high-pitched squeals and giggles, entirely foreign to his ears. The sorority girls in the room looked at each other, clearly confused by his, or her, sudden panic.
Lewis made a break for it, her slippers slapping against the pink, fluffy carpet as she darted out of the main room. She burst into what she assumed was the bathroom and slammed the door shut, leaning against it as if to barricade herself from this inexplicable new reality.
Staring at the mirror, she took in her reflection. Her face was more rounded, softer, with a perfectly smooth complexion that looked like it had been cared for meticulously. Her eyes seemed bigger, framed by long lashes, and her lips were fuller, tinted with what appeared to be a natural rosy color. "No way, this cannot be real. This is like, a dream or something," she mumbled to herself, her voice flowing effortlessly in the lilting manner of a young college girl, completely unaware that her speech had changed as dramatically as her appearance.
She continued to examine herself, her gaze dropping to her outfit. She was clad in a nightshirt that hung off one shoulder, bearing some sorority letters she didn't recognize. It was baggy but in a cute, fashionable way that highlighted her newly narrowed waist and wider hips. Her legs seemed to go on forever, shapely and toned, ending in feet adorned with matching, freshly painted toenails. "Omigod, like, what is happening? Why do I even look cute right now? This is not the time for cuteness!"
Her hands moved to her hair. It was long, flowing past her shoulders in waves, a shiny auburn hue that seemed to capture the light in the room perfectly. She ran her slender fingers through it, feeling its silky texture. "I can't even, like, is this some kinda prank? Because, hello, totally not funny, guys!"
As she observed her reflection, she noticed something else—her chest. It was fuller, way fuller than before, adding to the feminine figure staring back at her from the mirror. The soft cotton of the nightshirt draped over her new curves, creating a sensation entirely different from anything she had ever felt. "Seriously, is this for real? Are those—are those mine?"
Slightly panicking, she shook her head, as if trying to clear away this inexplicable new reality. She felt a strange combination of awe and dread. Even her thought patterns were getting influenced by this transformation, and that scared her even more. "Ok, so like, I need to figure this out. I can't be Kimmy. I'm not Kimmy! I'm—wait, who am I?" Her eyes widened, her feminine voice tinged with existential horror. It felt as though the room was closing in on her, as if her new reality was solidifying with each passing second, locking her into a life she never chose but couldn't escape.
Before she could fully process the situation, the bathroom door swung open. A group of sorority sisters burst in, giggling and talking over each other. One of them, a blonde named Tiffany, grabbed her arm excitedly.
"Kimmy, what are you doing hiding in here? We've got, like, so much to do!"
Another girl, Casey, with raven-black hair and a boho-chic look, chimed in. "Yeah, we're setting up for the most epic slumber party ever!"
Ignoring her protests and questions, they led her back to the main room, where the scene had transformed dramatically. The furniture was pushed to the sides, and in the center of the room was a massive pile of sleeping bags, pillows, and fluffy blankets. Tables were adorned with bowls of popcorn, various snacks, and an array of nail polish and makeup.
"Wow, you guys are, like, really going all out, huh?" Kimmy heard herself say. She had meant to express bewilderment, but her voice came out upbeat and excited. "This looks super fun!"
Brittany, another sister and clearly the fashionista of the group, circled Kimmy, inspecting her attire. "You look adorable, as always, but we've got to get you in the official slumber party uniform."
"Uniform?" Kimmy asked. Before she knew it, a fluffy, pink, satin robe was handed to her, embroidered with her name - 'Kimmy' - in curly, golden script.
"Put it on, silly!" urged Tiffany.
"Um, okay, sure," Kimmy replied, sliding into the robe. It felt plush and luxurious against her skin, which was now inexplicably free of any body hair. She looked down at herself and for a split second felt a thrill of enjoyment at how cute she looked. But then, her previous life as Lewis flashed before her eyes, and her expression faltered.
"You okay, hon?" Casey inquired, looking concerned but also distracted by a tray of cupcakes she was arranging.
"Oh, yeah, just, like, excited and stuff," Kimmy found herself saying, each word bouncing off her lips as though she were born to speak this way. "Like, what's first?"
"So glad you asked!" Brittany beamed. "First, we do nails. Then, we have a makeup tutorial session. And don't even get me started on the movie marathon!"
As the hours passed, Kimmy was wrapped up in a whirlwind of feminine rituals. Her nails were painted a sparkly pink, her face was made up to perfection, and she found herself engrossed in a rom-com that she would have scoffed at just a day ago. It was like she was living someone else's life but somehow knew how to navigate it flawlessly.
During a lull in the evening, as the girls were getting refills on their drinks and snacks, Kimmy found herself alone for a moment. She looked around the room: the pastel walls adorned with pictures of the sorority sisters, the 'Sisters Before Misters' banner hanging across the room, the preparations for a late-night karaoke session. Suddenly, the weight of her new reality hit her like a ton of bricks. She was Kimmy, a bubbly, peppy, slightly ditzy sorority girl. Lewis was gone, and even the notion of him felt increasingly like a distant dream.
Just as she felt the onset of an existential crisis, her sorority sisters swarmed her again. "Kimmy, there you are! We were looking all over for you," Tiffany exclaimed.
"We're about to start the karaoke! You're up first!" Casey added, handing her a microphone. The intro to a poppy, upbeat song started playing, and everyone's eyes were on her.
As Kimmy took the mic, she felt her willpower wane. Her life as Lewis seemed to fade away, like a morning mist dissipating under the sunlight. As the first lines of the song left her lips, her voice perfectly in tune and her body swaying to the beat, she felt a strange sort of happiness envelop her. She was Kimmy, beloved by her sisters, the life of the party, the epitome of young, feminine energy. And as she hit the high notes, her sorority sisters cheering her on, a part of her felt that maybe this wasn't so bad after all.
Yet, as she looked into the faces of her newfound sisters, each one a mirror reflecting her own transformation, a shiver ran down her spine. In their eyes, she saw a strange, uncanny glint, as if they knew something she didn't—a secret that bound them all together. It was a momentary flicker, but it was enough to plant a seed of unease in the depths of her heart. And as the evening carried on, as she laughed and sang and lost herself in the revelry, that tiny seed began to grow, its roots snaking through the fabric of her new identity, forever binding the woman she had become to the man she used to be, in a tangled, inescapable web of joy and dread.
As the room buzzed with excitement, the topic of what to play next came up.
"Let's play Truth or Dare!" Casey suggested, her eyes twinkling.
The room was filled with eager nods and giggles, everyone quickly forming a circle on the floor. Kimmy felt a mix of excitement and trepidation; it was a classic sleepover game, but something about it felt slightly off, especially considering how the night had unfolded so far.
Brittany took the first turn. "Tiffany, truth or dare?"
"Dare," Tiffany replied with a grin.
"I dare you to call your ex and sing 'I Will Always Love You' to him," Brittany declared, mischief evident in her voice.
Everyone laughed as Tiffany completed the dare, her voice wobbling through the song while her ex's confusion was loud and clear through the phone's speaker.
It was then Kimmy's turn. "Casey, truth or dare?" she asked, feeling surprisingly confident.
"Truth," Casey chose.
"Have you ever lied to any of us?" Kimmy asked. It felt like a safe, standard question.
Casey hesitated for just a moment. "No, never."
Suddenly, the atmosphere in the room shifted drastically. The laughter and chatter ceased as if someone had hit a mute button. All eyes were on Casey, and one by one, the girls started chanting in a tone that was decidedly not playful:
"He's coming to make you pay,
He's coming to make you pay."
"What's going on?" Kimmy stammered, her heart pounding in her chest. Before anyone could answer, a shadow passed by the window—a grotesque, slasher-type figure, almost too horrifying to be real. Its face was a twisted mask of malice, its eyes glowing a demonic red.
Screams erupted in the room as the girls scrambled, knocking over bowls of popcorn and trays of nail polish in their haste. But as quickly as the figure appeared, it vanished, leaving behind only a feeling of dread so thick it was nearly palpable.
The room was silent for what felt like an eternity, everyone too stunned to speak. Finally, Brittany broke the silence. "Casey, did you lie?"
With a look of utter terror, Casey nodded, her face drained of color. "I did. I lied."
Another silence. Then Tiffany spoke up. "The game... the game knows when you lie. And there are... consequences."
Kimmy felt a shiver crawl down her spine, her mind racing to comprehend what was happening. This wasn't just a slumber party; it was something much darker, bound by rules she couldn't begin to understand. She looked at her new sorority sisters and realized they were all bound by the same, unfathomable secret—a pact with something beyond their understanding, something sinister.
As they sat back down, attempting to regain some sense of normalcy, Kimmy couldn't shake off the feeling of impending doom. The game had revealed a horrifying truth, one that seemed to echo in the depths of her new identity: there were secrets that bound this new life of hers to something dark and terrible. And as she looked at her perfectly painted nails, felt the soft fabric of her robe, and heard the resumed laughter of the girls around her, that dark secret settled into the pit of her stomach.
The room was a tableau of fear, every girl frozen in place, their eyes wide with horror. The atmosphere was so thick with tension, it was as though they were collectively holding their breath, waiting for something unspeakable to happen. The chanting had stopped, but the words lingered in the air like a malevolent spirit: "He's coming to make you pay."
Suddenly, the door burst open with a deafening crash, revealing the grotesque slasher figure. It lunged for Casey with a speed that seemed inhuman, its arms extending in a horrifying, distorted manner. Before anyone could react, Casey was yanked out of the room, her terrified scream echoing down the hallway.
The door slammed shut with a finality that was chilling. The room remained silent for a few more beats, each girl staring at the door, almost expecting it to burst open again. But nothing happened.
Then, as if a switch had been flipped, the energy in the room reverted back to its earlier, bubbly state. The girls sat down in a circle as if nothing had happened, their faces suddenly cheerful.
"Okay, whose turn is it?" Brittany asked, a bright smile on her face.
"Um... it was Casey's turn," Kimmy stammered, confused and unnerved by the sudden shift. "Shouldn't we—"
But before she could finish her sentence, the door opened again, and in walked Casey, her face as bright and cheerful as if she had just stepped out for a bathroom break.
Kimmy blinked, disoriented. For a split second, she could have sworn she saw Casey's face twisted in agony, her clothes soaked in blood, but as quickly as it had appeared, the image vanished.
"Sorry, girls, had to take a quick call," Casey said, taking her place in the circle as if nothing had happened. "Now, where were we?"
The game of truth or dare continued, but the atmosphere had subtly shifted. Gone were the innocent questions and playful dares that had started the evening. Now, each girl seemed to probe a bit deeper, their questions tinged with an unsettling edge.
"Sarah, truth or dare?" asked Emily.
"Truth," Sarah replied hesitantly.
"Have you ever wished harm on someone else?" Emily's eyes gleamed with a strange sort of curiosity.
Sarah paused, visibly unnerved. "Um, well, I suppose everyone has felt that way at one point or another, but never seriously."
"Your turn," Emily said, seemingly satisfied with the answer.
Sarah looked around and then pointed at Kimmy. "Truth or dare?"
"Dare," Kimmy said, her voice tinged with a nervous energy that she couldn't entirely suppress.
"I dare you to go down to the basement alone and bring back a candle from the storage closet," Sarah instructed.
Kimmy felt a shiver run through her. The basement had always been a subject of whispered rumors among the sorority sisters. No one liked to go down there, especially not alone. But before she could think too much about it, she found herself agreeing. "Okay, sure. I'll be right back."
She descended the stairs, her footsteps echoing ominously in the empty space. The basement was as creepy as the rumors suggested—a dark, dank area filled with old furniture and covered with dust. The air was heavy, as if it held the weight of countless untold secrets. She fumbled her way to the storage closet and grabbed a candle.
As she turned to leave, she felt it—a presence, a weight in the air that hadn't been there before. Her heart pounded in her chest as she raced up the stairs, candle in hand.
When she got back to the room, she noticed that the atmosphere had shifted once again. The eyes that met hers were not simply curious; they were probing, as if trying to delve into her very soul.
"Well done, Kimmy," Sarah said, a strange smile curling her lips. "You passed the test."
"Test?" Kimmy felt the word catch in her throat. "What test?"
"Never mind," Sarah replied dismissively. "Your turn."
Kimmy felt her mouth open, and before she knew it, she was pointing at Casey. "Truth or dare?"
"Truth," Casey replied.
"Did you—" Kimmy hesitated, her mind grappling with the inexplicable events that had occurred earlier. "Did you know what would happen to you when you lied?"
Casey's eyes met hers, and for a moment, Kimmy saw something there—a flash of unspoken understanding, a shared secret that went beyond the boundaries of the game.
"We all know the rules, Kimmy," Casey said quietly. "And now, so do you."
A collective shiver ran through the room. It was as if the walls themselves had ears, as if the house was listening, absorbing their darkest fears and deepest secrets. As the game went on, Kimmy couldn't help but notice that the questions began to center increasingly on her. The shift was subtle at first but grew more noticeable with each passing turn. And these weren't ordinary questions; they touched on deeply personal aspects of her past life as Lewis. Things she'd never shared with anyone—how could they possibly know?
"Kimmy, truth or dare?" It was Casey's turn again, her eyes locking onto Kimmy's in an unsettling stare.
"Truth," Kimmy responded, her voice tinged with trepidation.
"Is it true that you once ridiculed someone so harshly in high school that they changed schools?" Casey's words seemed to cut through the air, and Kimmy felt as though she'd been slapped.
"How—how did you know that?" Kimmy stuttered, her heart pounding. She had indeed been part of an incident like that as Lewis, but she had never told anyone. It was one of her most deeply buried shames.
"We know a lot of things," Casey replied cryptically, the corners of her mouth curling into a smile that didn't reach her eyes.
Before Kimmy could contemplate the implications of that statement, another sister chimed in. "Kimmy, truth or dare?"
"Truth," Kimmy answered, almost mechanically. She wasn't sure she wanted to take on any dares in this increasingly eerie atmosphere.
"Did you ever cheat on a significant other?" This question came from Emily, and once again, it was eerily accurate.
Feeling exposed and vulnerable, Kimmy whispered, "Yes," her voice barely audible. Her cheeks flushed with shame and guilt.
It continued like this, each sister taking turns to probe into Kimmy's past—digging up secrets, revealing shames, unearthing regrets. And with each question, Kimmy felt her new identity of 'Kimmy' layering on top of her past as Lewis, as if the game was weaving them together in a tapestry of humiliation and guilt.
By the time it circled back to Sarah, the room was so thick with tension it was almost suffocating.
"Kimmy, truth or dare?" Sarah's voice seemed to resonate in the small room, laden with a gravity that was impossible to ignore.
"Truth," Kimmy breathed out. She was too afraid to pick dare at this point.
Sarah's eyes glinted. "Do you regret becoming Kimmy?"
The question caught her off guard. She wanted to say no, but words seemed to catch in her throat. In this strange, eerie atmosphere, surrounded by people who seemed to know her better than she knew herself, she felt truly lost.
"Kimmy," Sarah repeated, her voice pressing. "Do you regret it?"
"I don't know," Kimmy finally said, her voice tinged with a despair she had never felt before. "I don't know who Kimmy is anymore. Or who Lewis was. I'm not sure if I'm either of them now."
The room went quiet for a moment before Sarah broke the silence. "Kimmy, you have to answer the question. And remember, he'll know if you lie."
"He? Who's he?" Kimmy's voice quivered. The atmosphere in the room had shifted from eerie to downright ominous.
"Don't worry about that. Just answer the question," Sarah insisted, her eyes narrowing.
Feeling cornered and afraid, Kimmy suddenly stood up. "I need to go. This is too weird. I can't do this anymore."
As she made a move towards the door, she found her path blocked by the other sorority sisters, their faces stern and unyielding.
"You can't leave until you answer, Kimmy," Casey intoned, her voice dripping with menace.
"Sit down, Kimmy. You're ruining the game," Emily added, pushing her gently but firmly back into her seat.
Trapped and frightened, Kimmy felt a cold sweat break out on her brow. She looked into Sarah's eyes one more time, seeing something dark and unfathomable lurking there.
"Fine," Kimmy stammered, deciding to tell a lie in hopes that whatever was going on would end. "I don't regret becoming Kimmy. I love it."
The room went deathly quiet. And then, almost in unison, the sorority sisters began to chant softly, "He knows, Kimmy. He knows you lied."
As they spoke, the walls of the sorority house seemed to close in. The atmosphere grew dense and suffocating, as though the air itself was thickening.
"Well, Kimmy, since you chose to lie," Sarah said, her voice dripping with malevolence, "you're going to get to know 'him' a lot better. Forever, in fact."
The word 'forever' echoed in the room as the lights flickered and went out, plunging everything into absolute darkness.
Just as the lights went out, Kimmy felt an icy grip seize her wrist, pulling her forcefully towards an unknown destination. Her screams were muffled by the sorority sisters' ominous chanting, their words twisted by a guttural echo that vibrated in her skull.
She was dragged through the darkness, her feet scraping the floor as her eyes adjusted just enough to make out the outline of the shadowy figure that was pulling her. It was the slasher, his eyes glowing a malevolent red, his blade gleaming even in the pitch black.
The terror coursing through Kimmy was primal, beyond any horror she had ever experienced. She was dragged into what seemed like an abyss, an endless void that reflected her own internal emptiness and despair. She was utterly consumed by an agony that was beyond physical pain, a torture of her very soul. Each second stretched into a lifetime, each heartbeat pounding in her ears like a drumbeat heralding her end.
And then, just as the slasher lifted his blade, poised to bring it down in a deadly arc, Kimmy's eyes widened in realization. This was it, the final blow, the irreversible step into eternal darkness—
Suddenly, she was back in the sorority house. The lights were on, the room filled with the same playful laughter and chatter as before, as if nothing had happened. Casey was there, her eyes meeting Kimmy's for just a second, and in that moment, Kimmy could see the broken and bloody version of Casey she had glimpsed earlier.
Panic surged through Kimmy, her eyes darting around the room. She was back, but at what cost? Would she ever truly escape this night, this endless cycle of horror? The sorority sisters continued their game, their voices a cacophony that seemed to mock her very existence. But Kimmy knew, deep down, that the horror was not over; it was just lying in wait, ready to consume her again, and again, for all eternity.
Kimmy looked down at herself, noticing for the first time that her body felt different—softer, more delicate. Her fingers, once strong and capable, now seemed frail and dainty. Her arms, which used to effortlessly lift weights at the gym, felt noticeably weaker, as if they would tremble under any real strain. Her entire frame had narrowed, and her legs appeared slimmer, more fragile. Everything about her screamed vulnerability, a trait she had never associated with herself before.
As she surveyed the room, she noticed that some of the other girls looked even smaller and more frail than her new form. Their delicate limbs and subdued demeanors stood in stark contrast to the horror they had just experienced, or seemed to have experienced—she couldn't be sure of anything anymore.
Could it be that these girls had also been taken by that shadowy figure? And if so, how many times? Was this a cycle they had been trapped in, their bodies weakening with each successive round? How many rounds had they gone through already, and how many more could they possibly endure?
Her gaze met Casey's once more, her eyes almost pleading for an answer, a sliver of understanding. But there was nothing, just a vacuous smile that did nothing to mask the subtle torment hiding just beneath the surface. Kimmy realized that the horror of this night might be their shared eternity, an ever-repeating loop from which there was no escape.
And if she felt this vulnerable now, this trapped, how would she feel after another round? Or another after that? Tears spilled over Kimmy's cheeks as she stared into the abyss of their faces. One girl—Jessica, was it?—leaned over, her voice dripping with venom.
"You think you don't deserve this?" Jessica sneered. "What about all those times you belittled people for their 'superficial' interests, eh? Called them weak and shallow? And now look at you—softer than a marshmallow, voice chirpier than a Disney princess!"
Another, Monica, chimed in. "Oh, remember how you used to mock your sister for spending so much time on her nails and makeup? As if you were so much better? Well, your new interests will be much more aligned with hers."
Kimmy looked at the other girls for some sign of compassion, but most averted their gaze. However, she started to notice something chilling: Sarah and Emily, who she'd thought were victims like her, had a cold gleam in their eyes that hadn't been there before.
Sarah leaned closer, whispering, "Your arrogance has caught up to you, Lewis—oh, I'm sorry, Kimmy. You made your bed, and now you have to lie in it, forever."
Kimmy had had enough. Fueled by a surge of despair, she bolted for the door, swung it open, and ran down the hall. She rounded corners, dashed through doorways, but no matter how far she ran, she found herself back in the same sorority room, right in the middle of the same horrifying game. Sarah and Emily would just shake their heads mockingly, their cold smiles unchanging.
"You can't escape, Kimmy. You're one of us now, and this is your eternal slumber party," Emily hissed, an edge of malevolence turning her words into razors.
Tears streamed down Kimmy's face as the room seemed to close in on her, a never-ending nightmare from which there was no waking up. She realized then that she wasn't just trapped in this room, or in this loop—she was trapped in this body, in this life that had been meticulously designed to be her own personal hell.
Kimmy felt a wave of dizziness wash over her as she sat back down, the enormity of her new reality sinking in. The room seemed to spin for a moment, and then, amid the whirlwind of emotions, a startling revelation came to her.
They were right.
Deep down, a part of her had wanted this transformation, this grotesque metamorphosis. Perhaps it was some latent desire for redemption, to be remade, even if that meant reliving the horrors of her past life as Lewis in this nightmarish game.
As she mulled over this, she couldn't help but touch the soft, almost pillowy curve of her chest—her breasts. They were there, undeniable proof of her transformation, and they were so soft, so distinctly feminine. A deranged part of her reveled in their plushness. "At least I'm cute, right?" she thought, a slight grin forming on her lips.
She knew it would be torture, knew that this room and these girls and even her own body were now her prison. But as she felt the softness of her skin, the delicate contours of her new form, a part of her couldn't help but think that if this was her eternal punishment, there was a cruel kind of justice to it. After all, she had always judged others by their appearances, dismissing them as weak or frivolous. Now, she was bound to a life—or perhaps an eternity—of the same superficiality she had so vehemently derided.
So she sat back, resigned to her fate, as Sarah picked up the next card for Truth or Dare. Kimmy felt the eyes of the room settle on her, awaiting her next truth, her next dare, her next horror.
And yet, through it all, she couldn't shake that twisted thought in the back of her mind—no matter what torments awaited her, no matter how many dark truths were yet to be uncovered, at least she was cute, right?
