“So, what’s the big announcement?” Yui asked, the group having assembled in the shrine, still wearing their school uniforms save for Aoi, who was wearing a tight sweater over some mom jeans, her usual type of outfit she wore as a school nurse. Even with a customary labcoat thrown over it, her giant ass was enough to drive any teenage boy crazy, and her infirmary was crawling with students looking for excuses to stay there.
Aoi took a deep breath, then spoke frankly.
“I’m thinking about adding a new member to the team.”
“It’s finally about that time again, huh?” Akari said with more enthusiasm than Momoko was expecting, the tiny girl stretching out as Momoko scanned the room for reactions. Momoko had been the new girl for so long that it was hard to picture somebody else taking over that role and felt like it was coming out of the blue, but it seemed that everybody was more than prepared for it.
“Took you long enough.” Yui said with a grin. “Soon as Hotaru called it quits I figured you’d want to fill the gap as soon as possible.”
“Clearly there’s been no pressing need to add another to our ranks. Six magical girls is quite the team to begin with, let alone how successful we’ve been” Sakura chimed in. “We’ve all been doing a splendid job, and besides, once our dear Hotaru retired, I resolved to do enough work for the two of us!”
“What made you decide this all of a sudden?” Kuroko asked as Sakura let out a haughty self-complimentary laugh, the matter serious enough that Kuroko was willing to temporarily overlook the fact that Yui and Momoko had left their snack wrappers lying around the shrine from the last time they hung out together. “If I can be blunt, I didn’t expect you to start talking about new Kaleidoscopes until at least one of us retired.”
“Well, for a while after we picked up Momoko I didn’t have to worry about it.” Aoi explained. “We had a good run without any major issues until Hotaru retired, but after that… Have any of you heard of the Transformation Slippery Slope?”
“Enough to put me to sleep.” Yui winced, looking at Momoko ruefully. “She used to lecture us about it every time anything happened, when I turned gyaru that was way worse than the actual transformation.”
“Yes, well, I took those complaints to heart.” Aoi looked slightly embarrassed. “But although that wasn’t the case, look at us now and how many times we’ve suffered one thing or the other since Hotaru retired!”
“It’s not that bad.” Momoko said optimistically. “Sure, we’re a bit bigger or smaller here or there, but we’ve all got two arms and two legs, right? We haven’t changed that much.”
“Momo, you’ve literally got horns right now.” Yui pointed out. “I figured if anybody was gonna stay vanilla magical girl it was you, and now look what happened.”
“It’s only horns.” Momoko said defensively. “I’m still the same as ever besides that! You know, besides having a big butt, and huge boobs, and permanent makeup, and huge hair…”
“You see?” Aoi said a little too enthusiastically. “I’m ten years older, married, and have a medical degree, Yui’s a gyaru bunny girl, Kuroko’s a maid with the thinnest waist I’ve seen in my life, Akari’s half her size and dressed for a wedding, Sakura’s been…”
“Refined, I should say.” Sakura said smugly.
“Gotten a confidence boost,” Aoi continued, “and Momoko turned into a demon! A very nice demon, but a demon nonetheless!”
“Hey, what’s that supposed to mean?” Momoko complained. “Magical girls shouldn’t be prejudiced like that! And I’m a succubus, specifically!”
“And that’s not even getting into how we’ve all had this and that happen to us, like our little salon misadventure.” Aoi ignored her. “The point is, this has all happened really fast! At the rate we’re going, somebody will end up with something that takes them out of the game, and we need to be prepared for that. Therefore, I’m officially taking submissions for new magical girls. That’s all I wanted to say!”
“Not that I plan to let myself get taken out any time soon, and I think we’ve all been doing a pretty good job regardless of this and that,” Akari said, puffing herself and her huge chest up as much as possible, “But I get where Aoi is coming from. Momo’s not really the new girl anymore and I’m not getting any further away from graduation. We should start working on the new generation while we’re all around and in one piece.”
“I agree.” Kuroko might have once been standoffish, but instead stepped forward before anybody else could. “There’ll never be a better time to nurture new talent. What I’ve learned from Hotaru is that we’re all extremely fortunate that we’ve had this many missteps and we’re all just as strong as we were before. Who knows how long that’ll last?”
“I concur.” Sakura stepped forward as well, taking Kuroko’s hand.
“I don’t think there’s anything wrong with having another cute girl or two around!” Momoko said in her usual chipper voice. “To be honest, I’ve really wanted a kouhai for ages! Being a magical girl for the first time is the most fun part, and I bet being with a new magical girl is the next best thing!”
“And the hardest time for the rest of us to keep you out of trouble.” Yui laughed. “I can’t believe we managed to keep you in the dark on the whole permanent transformations for as long as we did, I told Aoi that it was gonna last four fights tops.”
“I still think you should have told me.” Momoko pouted. “All I could think about was how many near-misses I had that I totally wouldn’t have gotten myself into if I had known!”
“No, you probably still would have.” Akari pointed out. “I don’t think your fighting style changed much before and after. Besides, everybody thinks they’re invincible until they get zapped at least once.”
“Yeah, but still!” Momoko whined. “I wouldn’t have been scared off! We’ve definitely got to come clean from the start with whoever the new girl is, if she’s a real magical girl she’ll be brave and understand!
“Maybe I was a little overprotective.” Aoi admitted “But it did go well for a really long time! Hopefully we’ll have the same luck with our new girl.”
“Definitely just the one then?” Akari noted her wording.
“It’s easiest to do one at a time.” Aoi elaborated. “We get to all focus our energies on acclimatizing her to the team, it’s less to worry about, and if it all works out then we can focus on adding another. But to be honest, I don’t want this team to get any larger than eight. Magical girl teams with ten or more members seem like a lot of firepower, but it’s not worth dealing with teenage girls starting cliques and declaring “sub-teams”.”
“Plus, the roll-calls take ages.” Momoko chimed in as Aoi shuddered at some bad memories. “I always loved the teams with so many magical girls all at once like the Kaleidoscope Rainbows, but whenever I’d watch old videos of them, they spent more time posing and announcing themselves than actually fighting!”
“It’s surprisingly hard to coordinate.” Aoi said with puffy pursed lips, anxiously running her hand through her fluffy hair as she reminisced. “Have you ever seen three magical girls all think they’re next all at once? Next thing you know they’re all fighting with each other and the monster takes a cheap shot at them, and now they’re all turned into harpies and squawking at each other over whose fault it is.”
“Oooh, so that’s how the Kaleidoscope Sirens got started!” Momoko said excitedly. “They were one of my favourite sub-teams! They had such pretty feathers, and they had this song they’d do, except they had to stop doing it because it was hurting everybody’s eardrums…”
“If there are no objections, could anybody tell me if they have any candidates in mind?” Aoi asked, speaking over Momoko before she could really get started.
“To be honest I hadn’t really been thinking about it that much.”
“Kuroko and I were actually discussing it the other day.” Sakura mentioned. “But sadly, I don’t think there’s anybody who meets our high standards in our class.”
“I tried to get to know some girls from other schools like you recommended,” Yui said to Aoi. “But none of my gal pals seem like the magical girl type.”
“I’m always on the lookout, but no dice.” Akari said apologetically. “How about you, Momo?”
“Um, my friends are really cool and all,” Momoko said awkwardly. “But I don’t really get magical girl vibes from them, you know?”
“That’s alright, I figured that if anybody jumped out at us already, we wouldn’t be having this conversation.” Aoi admitted. “I have my eye on a few girls that aren’t in any of your classes, but please, feel free to re-examine anybody you know.”
“How rare are magical girls, anyway?” Momoko asked. “I know I’ve said “all girls are magical!” to reporters and stuff a lot, but, like, there’s not that many if we’re talking literally.”
“I think there’s probably hundreds at a time, but Tokyo is a big place. Finding one is really down to luck and coincidence.” Aoi explained. “Normally we end up having girls from different schools as a result, but this team ended up being all in the same place. Which is helpful, but limits our options a bit. My senpais were a lot better at this than me, if you can believe it. I recruited Hotaru, and she recruited Akari, and so on.”
“Then it’s my turn to find a new magical girl!” Momoko looked extremely excited.
“That’s not true, Momo, the rest of us have just as much of a chance.” Akari said, hoping to make Momoko not feel too responsible for the future of the team. “Some magical girls never personally find any successors, and that’s fine too.”
“No way, I’m gonna find the bestest, cutest, most magical girl ever!” Momoko started to get ahead of herself and it was impossible to talk her down when she was like this. “Um, how will I know they’ve got it when I see it, though?
The others looked at each other and shrugged.
“Vibes, right? There’s not, like, a scientific method or whatever.” Yui said, getting a round of agreements. “You’ll just kinda know it when you see it.”
“Then I’ll turn on my vibe radar and set it to magical girl!” Momoko bubbled, the group suppressing their groans and deciding to leave her to it while the adults discussed it more seriously…
–
“I said all that, but where am I actually gonna find a new magical girl?” Momoko mumbled under her breath as she waited for her homeroom teacher to arrive first thing in the morning.
“What is it, Momo?” Momoko’s friend and classmate Miharu asked, leaning over conversationally, her cute cat ears twitching. “You look like you’re thinking really hard about something!”
“Yeah, it’s not like you!” Alisa, the half-Japanese bunny girl with bright blue eyes and blonde hair who sat in front of her said, her floppy ears cutely hanging around her shoulders as usual. She hadn’t always been that way, unlike Miharu who had always been distinctly catlike. Alisa had been caught in the attack that had turned Yui into a playboy bunny, thankfully leaving her merely a rabbit-girl with big ears, a fluffy tail, and a bright future ahead of her as a pinup model. Momoko had watched more and more of her classmates pick up a transformation or two over the last year, making her wonder exactly how much of Tokyo’s demi-human population hadn’t started that way, particularly now that she was a succubus. She’d been paying more attention to the girls in her class in general lately, which she attributed to the fact that a lot of them were even prettier than she remembered. Had there always been this many girls in her class with big boobs? Not that the flat ones weren’t nice too…
“Oh, uh, it’s nothing, really! My, um, club was looking for new members, but we’re kind of selective. I was just thinking, the type of girl you’re looking for just doesn’t grow on trees.” Momoko hurried to excuse herself, only to put her foot in her mouth as usual.
“Maybe I can help.” Miharu offered. “What type of person are you looking for, anyway?”
“Um…” Momoko wondered exactly what was ideal magical girl material in the first place. “Good at working with teams, has a flexible schedule, doesn’t get easily embarrassed, likes wearing pretty dresses… Oh, and cute! Cute is important!”
“Well, if you want cute girls I can certainly introduce you to some.” Alisa said with gleaming eyes.
“Really? That’d be…” Momoko trailed off. “No, I don’t think what I’m looking for is in this class. Unless you mean girls from other schools, I could try those, and maybe ask them if they know any girls who might be good”
“I thought they were supposed to be for your club.” Miharu looked confused. “What club are you even in?”
“Um… The going-home club?” Momoko said dumbly and began to realise that she’d screwed up once again. Luckily, just about everybody expected that of her and never took what she said too seriously.
“Momo, we’re not actually trying to find you a date, are we?” Miharu grinned deeply as the two leaned in more aggressively, eyes gleaming.
“What? No, of course it’s not a date!” Momoko scrunched up her face. “ I didn’t ask for guys, anyway. We’re talking about girls here, Miharu.”
“What are you talking about, Momo?” Miharu looked confused. “Momo, I thought you were into-”
Alisa quickly leaned in and whispered in Miharu’s ears, Miharu’s expression intensifying.
“Seriously? Still? She hasn’t figured it out?” Miharu looked baffled. “Isn’t she supposed to be a succubus?”
“What’re you guys talking about?” Momoko looked at them with innocent eyes. “Haven’t figured out what?”
“Never mind, this is Momo we’re talking about." Miharu sighed. “Don’t you worry your pretty little head about it, Momo, we’ll look back on this and laugh when you’re older.”
“Seriously, what are you guys talking about? I wanna know!” Momoko complained, but the two clammed up. To them, it was more fun if Momoko suddenly brought it up one day, figuring that she’d probably act like nobody else had noticed before her. In fact, they’d bet money on it.
“Seriously though, where am I gonna find the right girl? I don’t know anybody who’d be good, and I’m supposed to be the one who keeps the team going!” Momoko pouted her thick, glossy lips as she planted her chin atop her boobs resting on her desk. For all of her big talk about being the first to find a new member, she was still at square one, unsure of what to even look for. Her friends were nice, but being a magical girl wasn’t just about being kind, you needed the bravery to fight, as well as the natural aptitude for it. Alisa had cried about how scared she was the day afterwards, whereas Momoko had been present for several monster attacks before her induction into the Kaleidoscopes and merely found herself frustrated that she was powerless to help out without even a hint of fear.
Momoko slouched even more, nearly popping the button on her blouse. “It’s not like she’s not gonna just fall out of the sky like in an anime or something…”
“Everybody, I know this is sudden, I’d like to introduce you to your new classmate.” The teacher said, Momoko instantly perking up as a fresh face slowly entered the room. “She’s a transfer student from Osaka, so make sure to give her a warm welcome and help her get settled in.”
There was a lot of whispering around the class as a girl with long, straight, dark purple hair walked in, head bowed slightly as she simply wrote her name on the whiteboard rather than announce herself out loud. She gave some sort of introduction, but it seemed to be too quiet for anybody to hear
“And, uh, that’s about it. Kanae, there’s an empty spot next to Momoko for you to sit in. You can’t miss her.” the teacher said slightly awkwardly at her poor self-introduction, pointing at the girl with explosively pink hair.
“N-n-nice to meet you.” The girl mumbled, her bangs so long that they obscured her glittering purple eyes.
“Nice to meet you too, Kanae!” Momoko said at top volume, largely oblivious to how obviously shy she was. Clearly this girl was just a quiet speaker! She was really pretty too, you could tell even with all that hair getting in the way, a problem that Momoko could certainly empathise with. She had delicate features, with pale skin and a button nose that was simply adorable, as well as a narrow chin and big eyes contrasting with her hairstyle that gave off more of the appearance of a cool beauty. Not to mention she clearly had a stylish figure, with pert breasts and broad hips that one could tell even with her modestly lengthed skirt. She really was beautiful, and Momoko didn’t say that just because she thought that most girls were beautiful.
“U-um, c-could you please stop staring?” The new girl whispered, Momoko rocking up in her chair as she realised how closely she’d been examining her.
“Oh, uh, sorry! It was just because…” Momoko babbled out. . “...because you’re so pretty!”
The girl turned beet red and nearly pressed her nose to her desk to hide herself after finding herself too speechless to respond, as Alisa and Miharu groaned and nearly did the same.
The class passed quickly, and soon despite her botched introduction there were many people crowding around her desk, most ignoring how mortified she was by all the attention, others perhaps hoping to help her break her shell sooner rather than later. Everybody wanted to what it was like moving to Tokyo, why she’d moved, what her hobbies were, if she’d seen the magical girls fighting yet, and more, and Kanae seemed to be just as much of an introvert as her debut had suggested, shrinking back in her seat as she was unable to give much of a response to anybody besides perking up a little at the mention of the city’s local superheroes as most visitors did. Even Momoko, a natural loudmouth, wasn’t able to get a word in edgeways.
“Hey, let’s give the new girl a little space, okay?” Miharu said, shooing away the over-eager boys and telling the girls to be less aggressive. Disappointed, the crowd dispersed, Kanae letting out a gasp like she’d been holding her breath the whole time.
“Um, if there’s anything you need help with, just ask!” Momoko decided to offer more delicately as her friends nodded in agreement, the girl blushing again upon seeing her, but slowly nodding and looking appreciative of the offer. However, she proceeded to keep her mouth shut, and Momoko and her friends decided to let her go at her own pace. The three chatted freely, leaving enough space for her to enter the conversation if she wanted, but she remained firmly silent the whole time.
Momoko attempted to initiate conversation a few times, but ended up mostly talking to herself and then trailing off as Kanae failed to respond in anything more than a quick glance. This continued until lunch, when Momoko happened to spy Kanae’s phone wallpaper, despite the girl intently trying to keep her screen from being seen by those around her.
“Oh my gosh, Is that Pretty Musketeer Magical Mari?” Momoko gasped. “I’d recognise that key art anywhere!”
“K-k-k-keep your voice down!” Kanae squealed before Momoko could elaborate, shoving her phone into her pocket looking desperately this way and that for any lurking eyes and ears. “What if somebody hears you?”
“And then what?” Momoko tilted her head cutely, unsure of why she was panicking. “What’s the problem?”
“Listen, Momoka, or whatever your name was.” Kanae leaned in, her helpless expression turning into a death glare. “I don’t know what your deal is, but I don’t need the whole class to hear about what my phone wallpaper is. In fact, you probably didn’t even see it right. I have a totally normal wallpaper!”
“Aw, if you say so.” Momoko said, not sure why this girl was acting so offensive.
“Well I don’t.” Kanae huffed. “There’s nothing cool about liking magical girls.”
“What!? Who told you that? There’s nothing cooler than liking magical girls!” Momoko exclaimed.
“Yeah, that’s kind of a weird take.” Kanae flinched as she realised that she’d attracted the attention of Miharu as well, who joined the conversation. “Girl, you’re in Tokyo, we’re magical girl central. There’s like, a big fight every week.”
“That’s not the same thing.” Kanae said awkwardly. “Those are real magical girls. I’m talking about, you know… um… anime, and stuff… Not that I’m into any of that!”
“You’re into magical girl anime!?” Momoko gushed, bulldozing through as usual. “Perfect! Most people are just into the real ones, but I’ve watched, like, every series ever and I don’t have anybody to talk to about it! Who do you like more, Mari or Emi? I thought Emi was really good, but they really got the formula right with Mari, and-”
“And there she goes.” Miharu rolled her eyes. “There’s no escaping Momo once she gets started.”
“It’s over… I thought I could make a comeback after my introduction and say I just had a sore throat, but now my trendy, fashionable high school life in Tokyo is over…” Kanae moaned. “I knew I should have changed my phone wallpaper, but Mari and her friends are just too cute…”
“Well, don’t worry too much about it.” Miharu slapped her on the shoulder, Alisa giving her a quick pat on the head for support. “I don’t know what it’s like in Osaka, but people in Tokyo have magical girl fever. Nobody’s gonna care if you like the fictional ones just as much as the real ones.”
“R-really? You aren’t just saying that so you can all laugh at me later, right? You aren’t gonna say that I’m supposed to have grown out of it by now, right?” Kanae said desperately, making the rest worried about what had happened to her back at her old school. “I can put all of those keychains I’ve been hoarding on my bag now, right?”
“...and I think Magical Housewife Karen was a bit of a misstep ‘cause they made her too unlikable in the first half and that really alienated some of the audience, but I think it was a good experiment in older magical girls and keeping the series fresh and…” Momoko finally stopped rambling on as she noticed that Kanae’s expression had softened. “Oh, are you okay with chatting now?”
“M-maybe.” Kanae said hesitantly. “B-But only once I know if you like Fairy Soldier Hana-Hana. I don’t trust people who don’t like it.”
Momoko’s eyes sparkled as she identified a fellow magical girl otaku, and once she was locked on she had no intention of letting go…
–
“Hey, has anybody seen my sports bra?” Momoko called out in the locker room, casually barechested much to the envy of most of the locker room as they prepared for their next physical education class. “Anybody? No mix-ups?”
“I think we’d be able to tell, Momo.” Miharu rolled her eyes. “I think we could see your bra from space.”
“Alright, but it’s pink if anybody sees it!” Momoko optimistically called out anyway. “Maybe Mom thought it was hers again, I bet that’s what happened…”
“U-um, if you like, you can borrow mine!” Kanae said, flushed bright red as she tried to maintain eye contact whole
“I don’t think that’s going to work, Kanae.” Momoko put it politely.
“Ah! Well, obviously, it was just, um, a joke! Haha!” Kanae babbled. “Who’d be stupid enough to even think of that!?”
“Ah, no, the important part is that you wanted to help.” Momoko quickly tried to reassure her. Her eyes naturally drifted downward to Kanae, who had yet to put her shorts on in her rush to help Momoko. Just as she thought, she had some very nice thighs and hips that even a succubus would be proud of. “Don’t worry about it, I don’t want to get my normal bra all sweaty, so I’ll just have to not wear one today!”.
Momoko was nearly run over by the gaggle of girls who instantly rushed over to stop the bustiest girl in class from pulling such an airheaded stunt, one rushing out of the room to see if the nurse, one of the only woman in the school with an even bigger chest than Momoko, had any spares she could contribute to preserve Momoko’s dignity.
“Putting aside everything else that’s obviously wrong with it, wouldn’t that chafe?” Miharu pointed out after they stopped wrestling Momoko and instead watched her with eagle eyes to force her to wait for her replacement bra.
“Not really? My nipples are pretty tough.” Momoko said as if it were the most obvious thing in the world. “Mom says it’s because guys are gonna want to really-”
“Not all of us are succubi, Momo, keep it to yourself.” Miharu said, her and Kanae both flushed bright red in embarrassment.
“I definitely couldn’t exercise without my sports bra, they get really sensitive and start making a mess.” Honoka, the class’s resident cowgirl and second bustiest girl in the room chimed in. “Momoko, I heard that some succubi lactate too, is that true?”
“It depends?” Momoko thought about it. “Mom does, but obviously she’s had a baby so that’s not the same thing.”
“Just one?” Honoka seemed surprised. “I thought you’d have lots of brothers and sisters.”
“Mom has like twelve sisters, and she said it was a bit crowded.” Momoko explained. “I have so many cousins over so often it’s like having a bunch of sisters so I never felt like I was missing out. She said I probably won’t have to worry about that though after I get married, for some reason. I hope it’s not fertility issues…”
“Sorry you have to hear this, Kanae.” Miharu sighed, turning to face the eternally red-faced Kanae who seemed to be listening intently.
“Um, Miharu, does Momoko have a boyfriend, by any chance? If she does, I’ve never heard her mention him.” She asked tentatively.
“Nope, not even one.” Her friend replied definitively.
“Really? I’d have thought all the boys would be tripping over each other asking her out.” Kanae exclaimed. After all, she couldn’t see a reason why anybody wouldn’t.
“I mean, kinda?” Miharu made a slightly scrunched up face. “For a while she used to, but I think after a while most of them got the hint that she’s, you know. Not interested in boys right now.”
“She’s not?” Kanae perked up a little. “I mean, that’s rather odd, you know, for a succubus.”
“There’s nothing normal about our Momo.” Miharu grinned. “Stick around her long enough and maybe some of that confidence will rub off on you.”
“That’d be nice… I can’t even imagine what it’d be like being like that.” Kanae said wistfully as Momoko was forced to put on her freshly arrived replacement bra like a prisoner being forced to put on handcuffs.
“At least you don’t have to imagine what it’s like having her grades.” Miharu joked, as the girls finally left the locker room..
–
“So, Momoko,” Kanae said conversationally during lunch, a week having passed since her arrival, and Momoko suppressed her excitement. This was the first time that Kanae had been the one to initiate conversation! She, Alisa, and Miharu were so proud of her. “I’ve been meaning to ask, but, um… do you watch any anime besides magical girl ones? We’ve been talking about it this whole time and I don’t think you’ve mentioned any others.”
“Now that you mention it…” Momoko realised. “Uh, I read some shoujo manga magazines! Oh, maybe those don’t count, I picked them up because of their magical girl series…”
“She’s a certified magical girl otaku.” Miharu commented. “She could name every member of every team in history backwards.”
“That’s amazing!” Kanae exclaimed, Momoko grinning with a self-satisfaction that would put Sakura to shame.
“Oh, it’s not that hard.” She bragged. “As long as you remember the team names, most of them are easy. It’s the ones who use shades like teal or turquoise that are tricky…”
“No, not that. Oh, not that that isn’t impressive too!” Kanae quickly corrected herself, waving her hands apologetically. “I mean the fact that you’re so open about it, and you’ve still got so many friends I didn’t expect, like the kendo club captain, or that scary-looking gyaru! I definitely would have gotten teased for it back home… I said I liked manga and anime once and they called me an otaku for the rest of the year…”
“Yui isn’t scary. Is she?” Momoko wondered. “I thought Kuroko was the scary one…”
“She’s kind of scary.” Kanae admitted, looking a little embarrassed. “She’s got dyed hair and her uniform isn’t regulation, and she’s got really huge boobs and she’s kind of tall…”
“I’ve got big boobs and they aren’t scary, unless you think that it’s really scary to find it hard to get shirts in your size.” Momoko said defensively. “I can’t help it, I’m a succubus, we’re just like that.”
Momoko said that very naturally, even though she’d had those particular endowments before sprouting horns. She’d simply gone from a girl with an unusually large chest for her age to a species that saw nothing unusual about having big boobs in the first place.
“Um, sorry I don’t mean to say that your friend is actually scary!” Kanae winced as she once again tried to avoid offending her. “I just kind of got, you know, bullied by the gyaru in my class a lot.”
“Osaka isn’t stuck in the Showa period, are they?” Miharu asked incredulously. “Or is your school just filled with jerks?”
“Gyaru are more of a Heisei thing…” Kanae mumbled.
“Who the heck cares about somebody watching anime these days anyway?” Momoko asked, munching away at her bento. “Even Aoi said that was on the way out when she was in high school.”
“Who’s Aoi?” Kanae asked, nibbling on her own.
“Oh, you know, the school nurse. She’s not that old though, she’s only like, thirty. I mean, she says it’s not that old, but…”
“...You’re friends with the school nurse?” Kanae gave her an odd look.
“Um, she likes to make conversation!” Momoko hurriedly excused herself. “Anyway, the point is, even gyaru watch anime these days, so don’t feel bad about it. Yui actually works at a cosplay cafe! Oh, um, don’t tell her I told you that.”
“Gyaru that are kind to otaku aren’t just in manga!?” Kanae seemed more impressed by this than anything else. “Tokyo really does have everything… Next you’re gonna tell me this school has a super rich ojou-sama who walks around everywhere with a butler or a maid…”
“Momoko, darling!” Sakura said, suddenly poking her head through the doorway, unperturbed as usual by how many of her classmates she startled. “We’re having a meeting at you-know-where after class! Do try not to be late! If you are, just call me, I’ll send the limo to pick you up!”
“How does she get her hair to be that curly?” Kanae was in awe of the size and scope of Sakura’s drills.
“I think it’s just natural.” Momoko suggested. “Anyway, I don’t think you should make assumptions about people just because of how they look, or their hobbies! That’s what they did to you, isn’t it?”
Kanae looked ashamed of herself for a moment.
“You’re right, it’s not like you’re just into magical girls, and it’s not like anime is the only thing I’m into.” Kanae said apologetically. ”Having somebody to talk to is nice, but it’s not like I want to make it my whole personality. But maybe my personality is just rotten if I’m talking like this about people just because they aren’t around…”
“You’re not rotten or anything like that!” Momoko took her hand, Kanae blushing at the sudden gesture. “You just had a bad time at your last school and you’re adjusting a little.”
“Not adjusting fast enough, though.” Kanae said glumly. “I always manage to say the wrong thing.”
Momoko wasn’t sure what to say besides repeating her reassuring words, but felt that it might just make her feel worse if she had to keep saying it, and decided to change the subject.
“So, Kanae, why do you like magical girls the most anyway? What’s so great about them to you?” Momoko said brightly. “Sure, they’re our protectors and they’re really strong and cute and stuff, but that’s like, just the real ones, you know?”
“Well, I’ve always thought they were really cool and pretty.” Kanae said with a slightly adoring tone of voice. “And it’s like, they have all these amazing powers and they turn into a better version of themselves that everybody loves. I think that’d be really nice…”
“Who knows, maybe our local magical girls will pick you up?” Miharu suggested cheekily. “They’re a bit of a mystery since they’ve got secret identities, but we know they’re mostly girls our age.”
“Except for Blue.” Alisa chimed in, having been more focused on her carrots than joining in on the conversation. “She’s like, weirdly old. And that’s fine, a middle-aged lady who’s still a magical girl is cool, it’s just weird.”
“Yeah, well, the Blue before her was younger. Maybe her mom took over or something.” Miharu speculated. “Anyway, the point is, there’s been so many of them, they gotta have some kind of recruitment policy, right? Maybe if you’re lucky they’ll pick you or me up.”
“M-me? A magical girl? T-t-that’d never happen!” Kanae seemed mortified by the implication that she could possibly live up to her idols. “I’m not, you know, sparkly enough… Momoko would be perfect, I bet.”
“Yeah, she’s got the big pink hair like Pink and everything.” Miharu laughed. “I’ve seen Pink up close before once though, they don’t look a thing like each other, besides maybe having big butts.”
“My butt isn’t that big.” Momoko pouted, and decided that perhaps this conversation was hitting a little too close to home. Their transformation’s glamour meant that their faces and voices were totally different to the average onlooker, but she didn’t want anybody putting two and two together despite that.
“Maybe if you’re lucky you’ll get to shake hands with her and everything!” Miharu suggested, Alisa looking slightly appalled.
“I hope not! Being near those monsters is really scary.” Alisa shuddered. “All those explosions and lights are cool on TV, but it’s not fun at all when it’s happening right in front of you!”
“Hey, I just meant that they do signings sometimes. I got a genuine Yellow signature on my t-shirt before she retired.” Miharu said proudly.
“Anyway, tell us about the nice things about Osaka! I’ve only been once when I was little.” Momoko said to try to change the subject, closing her now empty bento box and proceeding to smother it as she rested her heavy chest on her desk. As Kanae talked, Momoko was getting a funny feeling in her chest. Something just felt right about Kanae, she was fun to talk to, and she got the feeling that she had something really special inside.
Momoko let out a little gasp, getting some confused glances from her friends. Could this be that vibe the others were talking about? If so… she had big news for their get-together today!
–
“Everybody! I think I may have found the solution to our magical girl problem!” Momoko declared with a beaming smile and pride in her heart as she burst through the shrine’s door into the magical inner sanctum of their home base, having been invited for a group meeting to discuss potential magical girl candidates. The group hadn’t seemed to have made much progress beyond theoreticals, and Momoko knew in her heart of hearts there was only one right answer.
“Oh, so you’ve already met Nanami?” Aoi said as the group turned to face her, a completely unfamiliar student with pure white hair standing before her, turning and giving Momoko an enthusiastic wave, a bright smile on her face. This unfamiliar white-haired girl had an average height, somewhere between Kuroko and Momoko in height, and was wearing her gym outfit, having an obvious tomboyish appearance between her thin lips, slightly tanned skin, and messy, almost spiky hair that rested around her shoulders. She had a slightly round, rosy face, and a smile so wide it seemed like she’d still look cheerful even if she tried not to. Almost the total opposite of the girl that Momoko had come here to propose.
“I… may have seen her around the place…” Momoko’s smile froze upon her lips. Who in the world was Nanami?
“Oh, you must be Momoko-senpai!” The girl said with a particularly upbeat tone, taking Momoko’s hand and shaking it vigorously, sending the busty girl jiggling as she was pulled along by her. “Let me guess, you’re Pink? No, wait, Green? Haha, just kidding, there’s no way you could be Green, right? I’ve always been such a big fan! Oh, I’m so looking forward to working with you guys, I promise I’ll follow your example and fight for peace and justice!”
“Um, congratulations?” Momoko mumbled. “I feel like a lot has happened while I wasn’t around…”
“Oh, sorry Momo, we already voted on it. Nanami here is gonna be our new Kaleidoscope White.” Akari said apologetically. “It was kind of unanimous, and we figured you would just say yes before we’d even finished asking you about it, so…”
“Fret not, dear Momoko, I would never make an error in my judgement.” Sakura said as if this was supposed to reassure her, Kuroko quietly looking apologetically at Momoko for leaving her out.
“We did say we thought we had a solid candidate out of the students Aoi had her eye on.” Kuroko explained. “But every time we tried to talk to you about it, you just said that was fine, but that you were gonna beat us to the punch anyway, so…”
“Oh no, I’m sure Nanami will do great, go Nanami…” Momoko raised her fist weakly.
“Go Nanami!” Nanami cried, pumping her fist into the air with about five times as much power, hopping off the ground a little.
“What’s wrong? You said you had something to say.” Yui said, narrowing her eyes a little as she crossed her arms, pushing up her deeply tanned chest in its unbuttoned blouse as she looked suspiciously at her. “Momo, you didn’t have anybody else you were gonna pitch to us, did you? I thought you said you didn’t know anybody at all who’d make a good pick last week.”
“Um, no! Of course not! I just, um, uh, didn’t think you guys all already knew about Nanami!” Momoko quickly rattled off, surprisingly seeming to satisfy the cautious gyaru.
“Oh, good.” Yui relaxed. “I thought you were gonna run in here and say something like that transfer student you’ve barely known for a week would make a perfect magical girl, and try to convince us to let her in without any vetting whatsoever.”
“What? No, of course not! That’d be silly!” Momoko forced out a laugh. “I’d never do something like that? I’d have to know them for at least three weeks before that!”
Nobody seemed to laugh at her joke, and Momoko awkwardly shuffled off to the side and tried to look as small as possible. Maybe once Nanami was settled in, she could bring it up again, it’d have probably been at least three or four weeks by then…
“I’d better give my introduction again, since it’s not fair that Momo-tan wasn’t here!” Nanami said, bursting with energy as she stepped into the centre of the room.
“Momo-tan…?” Momoko felt like she’d been hit full blast with a monster’s strongest attack.
“I’m Nanami, prospective magical girl, average schoolgirl and first and only member of the hero club! If there’s somebody in need, I’ll be there at the speed of light!” Nanami said proudly. “Which might be even faster soon!”
“Uh, hero club?”
“Maybe “hero for hire” would be a better name. I take requests and help out any of the other clubs if they need an extra hand! It’s not an official club since I’m the only member, despite my best efforts!” Nanami seemed unperturbed by this fact. “I used to share the room with the literature club until they kicked me out.”
“Nobody could get any reading done when she was around.” Kuroko said, keeping her voice very even. It was time for her to be a responsible senior magical girl, and ignore the fact that this girl was like a very loud fly buzzing around her head to the loner nature she was only recently getting over. “But she meant well and she was usually running around somewhere else, so we let her stick around as long as she did.”
“Nanami ends up in my office a lot, so she was one of the girls I was drip-feeding a few questions to see if they’d be a good magical girl.” Aoi explained.
“To be honest, I thought that Miss Aoi was talking about some weird school programme.” Nanami laughed. “Who’d have thought that she was actually talking about the Kaleidoscopes!”
“She helped out with the kendo club a few times.”
“I made an excellent training partner!” Nanami said proudly. “By the end of the day I knew everything I needed to know about where people are trying to hit you!”
“She got hit a lot because she barely knew how to hold the stick, but she had the spirit.” Akari said. “Probably could have been pretty good at it if she stuck around.”
“Sadly, every second I spend in one place is another I’m not helping. I try to spread myself around when I can.” Nanami explained. “But now, I’ll be part of a team for once! Now if seven monsters attack all at once, we’ll be on even ground!”
“We don’t get attacked by that many monsters pretty much ever.” Aoi corrected her. “What’s most important for a magical girl is teamwork.
“Don’t worry, I’ll have the team pose memorised and ready to go!” Nanami bubbled. “Mind if I go first for my debut? I can settle for second or third if you want!”
“Do we even have a team pose?” Yui questioned. “I mean yeah we usually introduce ourselves, but that’s only if the monster doesn’t take a swing at us first.”
“Posing and roll-calls are a privilege, not a right.” Kuroko said sternly. “What’s far more important is knowing that we can trust you.
“I’ll pull my weight, don’t worry about it!” Nanami insisted. “Just give me a chance and I’ll show you!”
While it was hard for Momoko to get over her sense of deflation, it was harder to argue that Nanami didn’t seem like an ideal magical girl. Selfless, energetic, and ready to race out at the drop of a hat. Heck, she was already doing that, so nobody would question if she ever suddenly ran out of the room to respond to a monster attack. She just thought that they’d have picked, she didn’t know, somebody a bit more familiar. But if Aoi thought she was the right one, she’d just have to go with it. There was no reason why she couldn’t try again and vouch for Kanae later!
“Hey, when do we get to transform? I know there’s no monster right now, but can we do it just once before then? Pretty please?” Nanami begged, and Aoi gave a warm smile.
“I don’t think there’s any harm in getting a sample.” Aoi shrugged, knowing that there was nothing more special than your first transformation. “Plus, you’re going to need some training before you hit the battlefield. Girls, why don’t we show Nanami how a proper Kaleidoscope does things?”
The group nodded, struck their poses, including Nanami who awkwardly raised her hands, unsure of what pose would be best, and from deep in her heart chanted their transformation phrase.
“Kaleidoscope… Sparkle!”
Soon the whole team was in their magical girl forms in all their brightly coloured inconsistent themes, and they got their first look at Nanami’s.
Nanami looked wonderful in her new uniform, Momoko had to say. Her white hair hadn’t changed much in shade, but seemed extra bright and silvery, having grown to an enormous length compared to her original shoulder-length cut, spiky waves drifting around her knees. She had a very orthodox variation of the team’s uniform, resembling Sakura most closely save for the fact that she seemed to have less accessories, and an even shorter skirt. Despite her modest B-cup chest she had a lot of cleavage on display, her neckline particularly low. She lacked any sort of ribbon around her chest, or any to begin with, her outfit seemingly defined by its extremely clean look with no colour accents to speak of. She was a totally clean canvas of a traditional magical girl with long gloves and thigh-highs, save for the sexier aspects seemingly picked up from her teammates.
“I didn’t have that much hair when I started.” Momoko was impressed at the leap in hair volume, and also noticed that she had a thick layer of glossy white lipstick and eyeshadow keeping her up to par with the rest of the group’s heavy makeup. Hair extensions were very common for magical girls post-transformation, but making it all the way down to her knees was well above average.
“Well, the appearance of a new magical girl tends to be influenced by the most common traits of the team.” Aoi reminded Momoko. “So she just picked up a few things from us. I guess it makes sense that makeup and long hair are part of our image, when we don’t have much else in common…”
That also explained the cleavage, Aoi and the rest of the team all thought to themselves, realising that the team’s penchant for hefty chests had left them with a lot of room for their girls to breathe, which had been unwittingly imitated by Nanami along with her coloured makeup. Well, there could be worse things to inherit.
“Hey, what’s wrong?” Yui asked, noting that Nanami was frowning. “You looked more excited before you transformed. This is supposed to be your big moment, what’s the problem?!”
“Oh, this is fine and all, it’s great, I look really cool, but…” Nanami said, turning and watching her frilly skirt twirl. “I’m kind of just a magical girl, you know?”
“What else would you be?” Momoko asked, the rest of the group similarly confused.
“Well, you guys all have your own thing, and I’m just a magical girl!” Nanami complained. “I just look like I’m copying Sakura! Where’s my special theme? Was I supposed to figure it out first? Is it too late?”
“It uh, it doesn’t work like that Nanamin.” Momoko wondered if she should give her her own nickname.
“Oh, you can just call me Nanami.” Nanami quickly responded, and Momoko gave up. “We just met, after all.”
“Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, or so they say.” Sakura, from her perspective, was making a genuine attempt to reassure her. “Every magical girl, no matter how, shall we say, eccentric their team might be, starts by conforming to the mould. You should enjoy this, as it rarely lasts forever.”
“Well I hope I hurry up and figure out how to change it.” Nanami grumbled. “I always thought that the teams where everybody was really different were the coolest. It’s like, the regular magical girl teams could use some more individuality, you know?”
“Did you tell her about, you know, the thing?” Momoko asked the group more urgently.
“The thing? Oh, you mean the transforming thingy that the monsters do!” Nanami spoke up before the others could respond. “They told me all about that, but I’m not too worried about it.”
“You aren’t?” Momoko was surprised at how non-chalant she was.
“Yeah, Miss Aoi made it sound like it was a really big deal, but it can't be that hard to not get hit, right? After all, you guys have all been like this as long as I’ve known you. I mean, as long as I’ve seen you around the school!”
The group shifted their feet uncomfortably.
“Aoi, I don’t think you explained it properly.” Akari whispered, standing on her tip-toes to reach Aoi’s ear.
“I thought I was pretty unambiguous!” Aoi said defensively. “Hold on, let me just think of a good way to put it that doesn’t make us look stupid for getting hit so many times…”
It was easy to forget that their appearances as magical girls were retroactive, and that the world would only vaguely remember a time when Kaleidoscope Blue was a cute young girl and not a sexy older nurse, or perhaps even think that they were two entirely different people. Aoi had always been the school nurse for the two years Nanami had been in high school, as far as she knew. Her mental immunity to this history-altering magic would only kick in after her first transformation.
Unfortunately Aoi, in her embarrassment over her recent severe transformations and from trying not to scare the new girl off, wasn’t able to rephrase it before Yui checked a notification on her phone, eyes widening.
“We’re gonna have to figure out what to do with Nanami either right now or way later, because there’s reports of a monster attack downtown!” She said, turning to their latest member with a wink. “Good thing we’re already transformed, right?”
“Seriously? I know it’s that time of the week again, but…” Akari grit her teeth, while Nanami’s eyes sparkled.
“Well, what are we waiting for? There’s not a second to waste!” Nanami declared, already looking like she was ready to rush out the door.
“Nanami is right. While we’re transformed, remember to refer to us purely by our titles, not our real names, by the way.” Aoi declared, puffing herself up and putting on her best team leader pose. “All she needs to know right now is that she absolutely must not get hit, and we’ll make sure she understands the rest later. If it were up to me you’d be sitting this one out until you’ve had more training, but I’m getting the feeling you’ll just follow us anyway.”
“Well duh!” Nanami said, raring to go. “Like I was gonna let myself get hit in the first place! Now let’s go, somebody might get hurt while we’re talking about this!”
—
“So here’s the plan!” Aoi said, her long twintails trailing in the wind as the group sailed through the air, leaping from building to building. “White, since this is your first time, we’ll focus on you just getting used to your powers! Pink and Rose will support you, and the rest of us will engage from the front!”
“What!?” Nanami called back, holding her hand up to her ear as her hair flapped behind her. “What was that!? Could you repeat that!? Ro-what?”
“I said, Nanami, you’re on support along with Aoi and Momoko!” Aoi shouted, giving up on using titles when they were so high up in the air. “Kuroko, Sakura, Yui, and I will take vanguard! You go around
“Sorry, I can’t hear you! It’s so windy up here!” Nanami yelled, gesturing at her ear with one hand, where long sparkling white earrings were dangling. Her other hand was being tightly clasped by Momoko, who was helping her make her first jumps, concerned that she’d apply too much or too little power and fly face-first through somebody’s window. “I think I got the part about you guys going first!”
“Never mind!” Aoi shouted back, Akari wincing directly next to her. “We’ll talk when we arrive!”
The group landed on another rooftop, Nanami making the landing surprisingly smoothly only to realise she had hit the ground running, stumbling and forcing Momoko to yank her almost off her feet to stop her from running ahead and potentially right off the building.
“Momo-tan, do you think you could let go?” Nanami asked, pouting her freshly painted lips as the others motioned to Momoko to take care of it while the rest continued to leap ahead. “I nearly fell over because of you!”
“Oh, sorry!” Momoko pulled back, rubbing her thighs together as she stood in an awkward, apologetic pose. “It’s just, you know, it’s your first time so I thought I’d…”
“I only have half the length of the city to get used to my powers! How am I gonna do that if you’re holding my hand the whole way?” Nanami pointed out. She had been very excited to make her first jump, and had looked quite annoyed when Momoko took her hand instead and guided her through the motion. “I’ve gotta fight when we get there, you know?”
“Oh, don’t worry too much about that! We can just focus on getting your jumps down properly.” Momoko said helpfully. “It’s your first fight, so you’re just going to be doing long-range support.”
“Seriously? That’s kind of lame.” Nanami seemed unimpressed, hands on her hips.
“Doing support isn’t lame! It’s important, we all do it!” Momoko said, feeling slightly injured. “You get to wave a wand around and yell attack names!”
“Well maybe you think it’s cool, but I’m more about getting up close and personal, you know?” Nanami grinned, pounding a fist into her palm. “If I can jump this well already, imagine what I can do with my kicks!”
“That’s a lot to ask for a first-time magical girl.” Momoko said, feeling responsible for her junior’s safety. “We can talk about it with Aoi once you’ve had some training. You know, I did support for a whole two months when I started out as a magical girl and I never complained about it!”
“Ugh, seriously?” Nanami didn’t look pleased at the idea. “Nobody’s even gonna realise I debuted at this rate.”
“Look at this way, Nanamin.” Momoko tried appealing to reason. “There’s seven of us, and only one monster. If we all rush them at once, we’ll just end up getting in each other’s way. Fighting together like that means teamwork, and you don’t have any experience or practice fighting alongside any of us!”
“We could take turns!” Nanami suggested hopefully. “I’ll go first, maybe second, and then…”
“All you should be thinking about is how you’re gonna help the people that monster is attacking right now while you’re complaining!” Momoko said, putting her foot down and crossing her arms, smooshing her breasts a little. She understood being excited about her first adventure as a magical girl, but if there was one thing Momoko wouldn’t tolerate it was forgetting the whole reason why she was a magical girl in the first place. “Now hurry up, we’re gonna be late! If you’re so good at jumping, show me!”
Nanami’s eyes widened at the adorable Kaleidoscope Pink looking genuinely annoyed, and she looked a little embarrassed in return.
“You’re right, Momo-tan. I’m getting a little ahead of myself.” She admitted. “We’ll figure out how I’m gonna fight later! I’ll be counting on you to back me up!”
“That’s better.” Momoko said, gesturing for Nanami to take her first unassisted leap. After a short runup Nanami successfully jumped to the next building, waving at Momoko and hopping up and down excitedly. Momoko soon joined her, and the two caught up with the group a moment later.
It wasn’t long before the group finally arrived, the monster having attacked near a large intersection on an open road. Aoi was glad that it hadn’t attacked in any sort of cramped space, as it would make it easier for her rookie magical girl to simply stand back and shoot.
“I think it’s over there!” Nanami said helpfully as the group landed, pointing towards a fleeing crowd.
“What makes you think that?” Yui asked. She’d already spotted the monster from her higher vantage point, having particularly large hops possibly due to her bunny status, but wanted to hear her reasoning.
“Well, everybody’s running one way, so the monster has to be the other!” Nanami said proudly, pointing at the crowd of surprisingly busty women running as fast as they could, some stumbling as their chests heaved while others caressed their chests or tried to cover up the remnants of torn shirts. Normally one would assume that this would make it easy to guess what kind of opponent they were facing, but the busty magical girls had fought so many types of breast-expanding monsters that it could have been pretty much anything.
“Good job, that’s the very basics of crisis identification.” Aoi said, Akari nodding. It was so simple even Momoko had been able to tell on her first go, but Aoi had spent more than enough time working for a school to feel that positive reinforcement was important. She got the feeling that brainpower wasn’t going to be Nanami’s strong suit.
“Alright, here’s the plan-” Aoi started, before being swiftly interrupted.
“I’ll go behind, you guys take the front.” Nanami declared, puffing her chest out as she put herself in charge. “We already took too long, there’s no time!”
Before anybody could say anything Nanami leapt into action, leaping off out of the group’s view.
“That little idiot!” Yui put her face in her palm. “I told you she was to go off half-cocked!”
“See, Black?” Sakura remarked, holding her hand up to her mouth as if it would be enough to hide the flapping of her huge lips. “I told you we should have put that little upstart on a leash.”
“Sorry, it’s my fault!” Momoko stepped in and profusely apologised. “I told her she was wasting time before.”
“She was wasting time! And we’re wasting more time now that she’s… agh, whatever!” Yui said, scanning the skyline. “We’ll go with the plan from before! Pink, Rose, you go keep her out of trouble, we’ll deal with the monster! Let’s move out!”
Momoko and Akari quickly nodded then leapt onto the nearest building, scanning for their impulsive new teammate.
“Stop right there, fiend!” Momoko heard Aoi shout, her half of the team squaring off in the middle of the road with the intent of attracting as much attention as possible. “Wherever evil goes, the Kaleidoscopes will surely follow! Prepare yourself!”
“Took you long enough, magical girls!” Momoko heard the booming voice of the monster, looking down to where Yui, Aoi, Sakura, and Kuroko were standing directly in the middle of the road to attract his attention. “It took you long enough, I’m just about ready to burst!”
The monster was a strange shirtless minotaur man, a rather traditional monster save for his big pink udder that was gently dribbling milk in a way that made most of the girls slightly uncomfortable to watch. The monster had a clipped ear with an identification tag as well as a cowbell that jangled loudly with each movement, and was surprisingly emotive despite their bovine face, white fur with black spots all over it. This all made his intended method of attack extremely clear, hopefully clear enough that Nanami would put two and two together.
“We’ll make sure to pop you like a balloon.” Yui said, producing her oversized weaponised carrot in a flash of light, leaning on it like a cane as she struck a pin-up pose that flashed plenty of cleavage. “Kaleidoscope Carrot!”
“Kaleidoscope Black!” Kuroko made a modest curtsey befitting a dignified maid, the slit in her skirt showing off a healthy amount of thigh.
“Kaleidoscope Green! Prepare yourself, weakling!” Sakura let out a long, echoing laugh as she grinned smugly with a hand held to her mouth.
“Kaleidoscope Blue!” Aoi said, twirling and pausing with her pose slightly off-angle to stare up at Momoko. With her puffy, oversized lips, it was easy for Momoko to see her mouth “did you find her yet!?” at her, Momoko’s huge hair rustling as she shook her head in return. “Together, we’ll-”
“Hmph! Making a display of yourselves as usual, I see!”
A new, strangely low-pitched voice rang out across the street from directly behind the monster, high atop the building it was standing in front of. Too high to launch any surprise attack due to how long it’d take for any projectile to reach the ground, but apparently not enough to prevent her from yelling down at them.
“Showing off instead of engaging the enemy… Is that any way for a hero to behave!?” The voice said, before making some sort of sound effect with her voice as she jumped off the building and landed right behind him.
“Hey, who’re you!? There’s only supposed to be six of you, and you aren’t pink or red! Heck, you aren’t on the colour wheel at all!” The monster demanded with an accusing finger pointed at her. “Well, whatever, any friend of theirs is an enemy of mine!”
“Friend? Don’t make me laugh.” Nanami, who seemed to be putting on a somewhat unconvincing deep voice, crossed her arms. “I’m just here to lend a hand for the sake of justice.”
“What in the world is she talking about?” Even Sakura seemed to be at a loss for words. “And what is that ridiculous voice she’s doing?”
“Oh my god, she’s trying to be a rival.” Kuroko mumbled as if the words spilled uncontrollably from her lips, looking absolutely mortified and frozen in place from second-hand embarrassment.
“A what? Rival? Oh god, I see what you mean.” Yui groaned, nearly dropping her carrot as she instinctually buried her head in her palms.
Aoi was instead busy waving wildly for Nanami to move out of the way so the others could at least use magical attacks, Akari wincing and realising that Nanami had put herself in exactly the wrong position for her to fire her roses at the monster without hitting her, but Nanami was off in her own little world and solely focused on the monster and posturing for any bystanders who hadn’t fled.
Nanami seemed to take a deep breath, trying extremely hard to control her self-satisfied smirk then twirled twice, stopped on her heel with her hand held high, then slowly lowered it into a point of her own, then twisted her palm and snapped her fingers, then clicked her heel again in an extremely unnecessarily long signature pose before continuing to talk.
“Prepare yourself, wicked one, to be punished by Kaleidoscope-”
Nanami didn’t get the chance to finish before she was blasted off her feet by a cannon of milk, crashing through the door behind her as the monster stood proud clutching its teats while the rest of her supposed teammates stood dumbfounded.
“Hey! I was still giving my speech!” The completely milk-soaked Nanami said as she staggered to her feet, too indignant to notice the way her chest heaved in the process. It was still growing as she pouted childishly, her magical uniform unable to adapt fast enough as her cleavage grew larger and deeper.
“You took too long, idiot!” The monster yelled at her. “Besides, the others were smart enough to do their little act out of my range! Have some common sense!”
“S-shut up! You’re the one with no manners! Attacking while I’m posing!” Nanami’s fake low voice was completely gone as she squealed, two short horns starting to poke through her dripping white hair while her chest reached at least an E-cup. “Don’t they teach you this stuff at monster school or whatever!?”
“I have poor manners? Your pose was about as long as the rest of theirs put together!” The cow monster argued back. “Nobody likes a show-off!”
“Agh, whatever! Just for that, you’ll be personally punished by Kaleidoscope Milk!” Nanami declared, covering her bust with one arm while pointing with the other. After a second, she seemed to realise what she said, and
“Huh? Milk? No, I meant Milk! I mean Milk, I mean…” Nanami was befuddled by the words coming out of her own mouth, milky white lips quivering as she tried to force them into the correct words. “I’m not called Kaleidoscope Milk! That’s so lame! My name is Kaleidoscope W, Whuh… M… Muh… Milk! No, I’m Kaleidoscope Milk! Ugh, what is wrong with me!?”
“What’s wrong, Kaleidoscope Milk?” The monster shouted loudly enough for all remaining onlookers to hear, including ones with phones raised and recording. “Cow got your tongue?”
“Shut up! You’re ruining my debut!” Nanami shouted back at them, her chest heaving and flopping around as she indignantly balled her fists. “I’ll, I’ll… I’ll beat the heck out of you for this! I’ll turn you into a juicy steak!”
Abandoning all cool poses or grace, Nanami leapt forward into a superpowered tackle, slamming shoulder-first with nothing but brute strength sending the monster flying off of its feet and bouncing across the concrete until the two crashed through a wall, the other magical girls finally freed from their stupor and trying to rush in to help, only to find the two entangled, unsure of how to help without getting their own daily dose of calcium.
“Oof! Hey, quit it!” The monster struggled, trying to wrench Nanami off of it. “There’s nothing cute or dignified about the way you’re behaving right now, you know!?”
“Shut up, you big cow! Just… hold still!” Nanami said, trying to throttle the monster as she smothered its head with her new breasts. “You’ll be mystery meat when I’m done with you!”
“Ah! Don’t touch me there! Not the udders! No, not there either!” The monster said as they wrestled, the other magical girls trying to figure out how to disentangle the two without getting caught up themselves. Kuroko winced, not wanting to add any more white to her uniform. “I’m gonna… Ah! Ah! Mooooo!”
Nanami was launched off of the monster by a sudden second blast of milk directly to her torso, landing flat on her back with dazed eyes and boobs that were swelling up even more until they were nearly spilling out of her overly stuffed outfit’s chest, almost the size of her head and still swelling. In addition to her horns, which seemed to have grown out a little more, she had floppy, slightly fluffy ears just like a cow’s, and a long thin tail was laid out on the ground next to her. Her uniform, soaked with milk, had gained a cow print pattern across the entirety of it including her gloves and stockings, making her a mixture of black and white save for her hair which remained solid white. Around her neck was a cowbell accessory, although thankfully it seemed to lack an actual bell to ring with each motion. She made a burbling noise as her chest swelled out once again, looking big enough to pin her to the ground and still slowly growing.
“Look what you made me do!” The monster said sensitively, grabbing their teats. “I was saving that for the rest of your friends! Now I’m all out of… milk…”
The monster slowly turned its head to where six very angry magical girls were all staring daggers at him, weapons raised and fully charged. He glanced over at Nanami, launched well clear of his vicinity by the force of his squirt.
“I swear, this doesn’t usually happen to me!” were the monster’s last words before an absolute cacophony of special attack names and explosions reduced it to dust, nothing remaining but a crater and some scorch marks.
“Just do you know, I’m not touching her until she’s dry.” Kuroko said as the group stood over the dazed magical girl, the others letting out various deep sighs of disappointment as they took in her various changes.
“Well, at least she got the rite of passage out of the way.” Yui folded her arms. “Can’t say she doesn’t fit in with the team now.”
“What’s that supposed to mean?” Sakura said defensively, the green girl busty by normal standards but comparatively the most petite of the exaggerated group. “In any case, somebody find a hair dryer!”
“Huh? Where’s the monster? Did I win?” Nanami groaned, rubbing her head and wondering what those hard pointy bumps on the top of her head were.
“You got completely defeated like a complete idiot.” Yui said bluntly. “You did just about everything you possibly could have done wrong.”
“Did I look cool though?” Nanami mumbled.
“Not in the slightest.” Akari stood over her with her hands on her hips. “What in the world were you thinking, acting like that?”
“I was supposed to be a distraction.” Nanami coughed as she spluttered out some milk, pulling herself upright as the other groups hopped back to avoid getting splashed by her. “You were supposed to all rush in and get him, wasn’t that obvious?”
“If you hadn’t noticed, you were within squirting range! We couldn’t move without putting you in danger!” Aoi pointed out. “And we couldn’t use any ranged magic because we might hit you too!”
“Forget it, she just wanted to show off. ” Kuroko cut in sharply. “There’s no way she seriously thought this counted as teamwork. We never should have just handcuffed her to somebody or not let her join in without any practice at all.”
“I wasn’t showing off, I was just, you know… I had to say something to distract him, so it was like, creating drama, right?” Nanami stammered guiltily. “I’m like, the one who joined the team late, and as far as anybody knows I just show up out of nowhere, right? It’d be cool if it was, like, he doesn’t think that we’re friends, so he doesn’t assume I’m just the distraction ‘cause he doesn’t think we’re working together in the first place! And then we could maybe try that again, and it’d it look like I didn’t want to work with you at first, but then we slowly warm up to each other and then after five or six or eight fights I say that maybe being friends with you isn’t so bad after all, and then we-”
“Just stop talking, please.” Kuroko looked like she was going to be sick.
“You know, that might be an okay plan to trick them once or twice if you actually told us about it first.” Akari stepped in. “Because it sounds to me like you just wanted to establish your image on your magical girl debut.”
“Um, well, that’d be a side-effect, obviously, but, um, well…” Nanami looked like a cow in the headlights. “Well, we beat the monster in the end, didn’t we? All’s well that ends well!”
“Who’s gonna tell her?” Yui grimaced, glancing around the group.
“I think it’d be amusing if we waited for her to figure it out on her own.” Sakura commented.
“I just hope Pink doesn’t feel responsible for this.” Aoi frowned, trying to be the calm one rather than snap at Nanami. If anything, she felt bad for being the one who let Nanami in without a thorough enough screening to catch things like this. “I bet there was some sign that she was going to pull a stunt like this that the rest of us missed. She didn’t seem very enthusiastic about recruiting her, now that I think of it.”
“Where is Pink anyway?” Yui looked around, seeing that Momoko had run off in the direction of the wreckage caused by the monster’s initial rampage to help out anybody who may have gotten injured. While the magical girls tended to be more concerned with the bigger picture due to the monsters’ transformative abilities, their rampages tended to involve smashing buildings and destroying infrastructure as well as transforming everybody in sight. There may have been people who were hurt or trapped by the rubble, and the magical girls typically spent a great deal of time after every fight helping look for victims during their clean-up duties.
“Being a better magical girl than the rest of us.” Akari said ruefully. “Come on, let’s see if there’s anybody who needs our help instead of going off at Milk.”
The group was also somewhat mortified by Nanami’s new magical girl title, but all would quickly agree that it was a suitable mark of shame and reminder of her mistakes.
“Wait, I can at least-” Nanami tried to offer.
“Stay! Put!” The group barked at her all at once, cowing her into submission.
“We don’t want you dripping all over the civilians and turning them into cows like you!” Sakura cut straight to the point.
“What? Cow, what do you mean by- Holy cow! When did I get these!?” Nanami exclaimed as she noticed her head-sized row of cleavage completely preventing her from seeing her feet. “Hang on, is that a tail? When did I get that!? It’s kind of cute, though… Hey, when you guys said this was permanent, you were just trying to scare me, right? Right!?”
–
“Is anybody in there? Is anybody hurt?” Momoko called into the half-collapsed building the monster had created, some sort of coffee shop from what she could tell that wasn’t wrecked.
While the magical girls themselves were typically more concerned with the average monster’s more transformative abilities than their physical ones, they never forgot that those same monsters tended to level buildings in their wake more often than not. This minotaur-like monster had smashed up some storefronts for emphasis, although luckily most seemed to have fled or avoided it before it got serious. Plus, that milk cannon packed enough of a punch to break bones if it could knock a magical girl off their feet at close range.
“O-over here! I can’t move!” whimpered a vaguely familiar but very fearful voice. “I heard an explosion, the monster is gone, right?”
“We blew him to bits! It’s safe now, so just hold tight!” Momoko looked around the room, finding her victim not trapped under any rubble, but instead cowering under a table, which was thankfully unscathed. It wasn’t a very safe place to hide, but it was a hiding place nonetheless.
When she bent over to lend a hand to pull the poor girl up, Momoko was shocked to find a very familiar school uniform and some very familiar purple hair staring back at her, her expression quickly turning into a different kind of shock.
“K-k-k-k-Kaleidoscope Pink!?” Kanae gasped, sounding like she was going to pass out. “It’s really you!”
“Uh, yes, it’s me, citizen. Have no fear.” Momoko suddenly found herself speaking in an uncharacteristically heroic voice. “Lets, um, get you up out of there. Are you hurt at all? Can you move?”
After a few uncomfortably long seconds of Kanae gazing into her bright pink eyes, Kanae seemed to realise that she’d been gaping with her mouth wide open and rushed to say something.
“Y-yes, I’m mostly fine, I think! I didn’t get hit or anything, I just ran in here to hide when that big monster attacked. I figured it wouldn’t smash it twice.” Kanae explained, looking more awestruck than scared now that Momoko was next to her. “But, um, I can’t seem to stand, my legs just don’t seem to be working…”
“Oh thank goodness, you’re okay. You must just be in shock.” Momoko exhaled, crouched down with her hair bundled up on the floor in a pile nearly as big as her. Thanks to her magic, when she stood up it wouldn’t be completely covered in dirt and rubble, contrasting her with the thoroughly dusty Kanae.
“I think you might still need to carry me…” The purple-haired girl said, Momoko scooping her up without hesitation.
“Anything for a citizen in need.” Momoko said, thinking nothing about putting a cute fangirl in a princess carry. She’d done it to balding, burly men when needed, all as part of her duties. Kanae on the other hand, looked like she was having the time of her life, enough to immediately feel guilty about it.
“Um, sorry, I lied.” Kanae said shamefully, then quickly followed up as Momoko went to put her down. “Um, no, not the part about my legs! I mean, I was only sort of hiding, when you all showed up I couldn’t help but watch, then when the explosion happened I started hiding again.”
“Well, I’d have preferred it if you were totally out of the way, but I can’t blame you.” Momoko said, trying to sound responsible. “Most people just get out their phones if they’re still around by the time we start fighting. A lot of the time I have to stop fighting and get them out of the way first.”
“Oh no, I didn’t take any photos!” Kanae tried to reassure her like it was important, although she immediately seemed to regret that she hadn’t. “Although… Um, could we maybe get a photo together?”
Momoko froze up. It’d be fine, right? The glamour would surely protect her. She’d been on camera dozens of times, there were even figures of her that she’d officially sanctioned for charity, although the faces were always inconsistent. Still, there were only so many girls with massive pink hair and puffy lips in Tokyo…
“Sure, anything for a fan. As long as you promise to hide properly if this ever happens again, okay?” Momoko said, wishing she hadn’t just sounded like a celebrity. Still carrying Kanae in her arms, she let her classmate fish around for her phone.
“Yes, of course, miss Kaleidoscope Pink! I’ll dig a hole if I have to!” Kanae said with unveiled delight, hands shaking as she pulled out her phone for a selfie. Her hands were shaking as she put the two of them in frame, Momoko gently taking her hand and steadying it before pulling it back into a V sign next to her face. Kanae was completely flushed as she took several photos, trying again from multiple angles as Momoko had an absolutely picture-perfect smile next to Kanae’s awkwardly star-struck expression. It was alright for her to feel proud of herself for being a hero every now and then, after all.
“Um, I think that’s enough, citizen.” Momoko said after about the eighth angle. “And no posting on social media!”
“I won’t! I’ll only show my friends and my family and maybe my classmates if they ask!” Kanae spilled out awkwardly but honestly. “Oh, how am I going to pay you back for this? Um, I could help with the clean-up? I don’t have super strength, but if I find anybody I’ll call out!”
“This one’s on the house. And although I’d appreciate the help, it’s more important to get yourself to safety first. If the roof comes down, I’ll be okay, but you won’t be.” Momoko reminded her. “Let’s just get you out of here first.”
Momoko hurried out of the half-destroyed cafe, dashing over to down the street where paramedics had arrived and a mixture of those who had fled the scene and those who had been drawn to try to get a glimpse at the magical girls had gathered. She placed Kanae down before a crowd that erupted into cheers at her sight, Momoko giving a quick wink and a wave to the group after mentioning to some familiar emergency workers that they hadn’t found any injured just yet, before leaving as quickly as she came.
“Oh no.” Kanae mumbled as she watched Kaleidoscope Pink fade from sight, “I should have asked for her autograph too…”
–
“Morning, Momo.” Miharu waved from her leaned-back position as Momoko planted her huge ass in her chair at her desk, her cheeks nearly spilling over the sides as usual while she swept her massive pink hair over the back of the seat all in one smooth, practiced motion.
“Morning.” Momoko said, a little distracted as she glanced over at Kanae’s empty seat. Usually Kanae arrived before her chronically last-minute classmate, but Momoko had been so nervous she got up early for once.
“Did you see the new magical girl yesterday?” Miharu pivoted around in her seat and leaned in conversationally. “You know, the black-and-white one. A video of her showed up on my timeline before I even knew a monster was attacking! It’s been ages since we got a new one, I was starting to think we’d never get one!”
“Kaleidoscope Milk, right? Yeah, I saw.” Momoko said, keeping an eye on the doorway for Kanae’s arrival.
“I thought you’d be more excited.” Miharu raised an eyebrow. “You got a cold or something? Didn’t get enough sleep?”
“I am, I am! I mean, excited, not sick!” Momoko quickly raised her hands. “Maybe I am a little tired.”
“Let me guess, stayed up all night talking online about the new girl.” Miharu said with a mistakenly knowing grin.
“Something like that.” Momoko mumbled.
The post-fight get-together at the shrine had been something, alright. Once Nanami had properly dried herself off she’d been given a real mouthful from Aoi and an entire speech about the power of teamwork from the whole team. Nanami had initially been defensive, once again repeating that everybody should have supported her better, but was soon yelled at again and forced to apologise.
After her initial chewing out was over, she’d been given the customary examination to see how much her past had changed from her changes. Surprisingly, it seemed that extremely little had changed besides her wardrobe and the fact that she needed to milk herself at least once a day to prevent leakage. She was still busy with her Hero Club activities, perhaps even busier now that she was one of the bustiest girls in school and very easy to turn into a poster girl.
“This doesn’t feel that weird, actually.” Nanami had commented, cupping her breasts and swishing her tail. “It feels just like I’ve always had them. Everybody at school is gonna be super surprised though!”
“Because you have always had them, from now on.” Akari had stressed, although the exact speech of how the retroactive-reality magic worked needed to be repeated three times before Nanami really understood it. It was an inherently vaguely defined phenomenon to begin with, and Momoko stayed out, as she didn’t really understand it herself, only that it worked.
Once that was out of the way the lecturing resumed, and Nanami was assigned thorough training on the threat that she wouldn’t be allowed to join in the fights if she didn’t meet each team member’s expectations. Nanami didn’t seem happy about this, but there was no way that even her stubbornness could stop her from acknowledging that she had thoroughly screwed up her debut, and that she was more of a nuisance than any real help.
Momoko had eventually stepped out and left the details up to Aoi and the others to figure out. She felt a bit exhausted by the whole thing, and although it was selfish, felt like it very much wasn’t her fault that things had ended up this way. She hadn’t voted for Nanami, after all, and she’d tried her best to rein her in on the way over, only for her to completely ignore it and try to show off.
If only they’d let me pick Kanae instead. Momoko kept thinking, and kept trying to force herself to look at it more impartially. There was no reason to believe that Kanae wouldn’t have botched her first fight as well… but surely she’d have at least stopped herself from rushing in like that. Perhaps it was a good reason to make sure that if she ever did nominate Kanae, she really trusted her to be a good magical girl.
“She made a big entrance and everything and then totally wiped out!” Miharu laughed, bringing Momoko back to reality. “The irony is crazy though, Kaleidoscope Milk fights a cow in her first fight ever! What are the odds?”
“Yeah, what a coincidence, huh?” Momoko laughed awkwardly. Kaleidoscope White hadn’t even had a chance to be recognised by the public before she was stained black and white and milky all over. “I don’t really like how she acted all standoffish, though. She clearly had no teamwork and just made things harder for herself and the team! She clearly had no practice at all, so what was she thinking?.”
Momoko’s brow furrowed as she let her personal thoughts slip, but Miharu didn’t think for a second that this was anything other than a casual observer’s opinion. Momoko was a real magical girl otaku, and she could have gone on a whole rant from an inside perspective and her friends hardly would have noticed with how strong her opinions on magical girls always were.
“Well, we were overdue for another lone wolf ever since Black cosied up to the rest of the gang.” Miharu shrugged. “I think she might be a poser though, she totally freaked out after she got blasted. That’s kinda cute though, so whatevs. Oh, hey, Kanae!”
Momoko didn’t know what expression to make as Kanae hurried over to her desk as usual, her head down and staring at her phone.
“Hey, good timing, we were just talking about the new magical girl.”
“Oh, her? That’s nice.” Kanae mumbled, a droopy smile on her lips. “Milk, right? That’s okay, she’s not as cute as Pink though…”
“Both of you are acting weird this morning.” Miharu said accusingly. “What’re you looking at, anyway?”
“Hang on, wait!” Kanae yelped as Miharu snatched her phone out of her hands. “I’m not supposed to… aaah!”
Kanae squealed helplessly as Miharu gawked at what she had displayed on her phone.
“Seriously? No way, Momo, check this out!”
Miharu shoved the phone into Momoko’s face, revealing that Kanae had been staring at one of the photos of her and Kaleidoscope Pink, and had in fact been flicking through them the entire walk to school.
“She said I wasn’t supposed to show anybody…” Kanae mewled, helplessly reaching for her phone that Miharu kept flicking away from the clumsy girl.
“No way she said that, you just want to keep it all to yourself.” Miharu smirked as Kanae’s lips uncontrollably curl into a smug, goofy smile as her true feelings started to come out.
“I mean, it wasn’t a big deal. We were only together for a minute or so.” Kanae said, giggling slightly. “She’s just really pretty and brave and cool and her hair is so soft and she smells nice, you weren’t missing out at all.”
“Oh my god, she’s even princess carrying you! You’re so lucky, Pink rarely does selfies!” Miharu cheered her on, enjoying You gonna go for the rest as well? I know that Carrot is always down, but good luck with Black.”
“I-I don’t think they’d let me.” Kanae admitted as if she’d been seriously thinking about it, starting to deflate as quickly as her head had swollen. “I shouldn’t have asked Pink, I’m sure I was really bothering her…”
“She looks pretty cool with it to me.” Miharu shrugged. “Wait, she was carrying you, you didn’t get hurt, did you?”
“Oh no, I was hiding the whole time.” Kanae quickly reassured her. “I was too scared to do more than watch…”
“I’d be scared if you did anything other than watch.” Miharu commented. “Although, you were lucky to be hiding wherever you were, imagine if you’d been behind that wall Milk knocked that monster through!”
“Milk? Oh, her!” Kanae seemed like she’d been broken from a trance, like the actual fight had been completely overshadowed by her encounter with Pink. “That’s right, there was another magical girl, one I hadn’t seen before! Is she new? Or is she an older member who just got back? I don’t think there’s been a white Kaleidoscope in years from what I remember…”
“The last white was Kaleidoscope Pearl. She was a mermaid and she retired ‘cause she had a tail instead of legs and couldn’t really move on land.” Momoko couldn’t help but inform them, a walking magical girl encyclopedia. “And I think that was about six years ago. Definitely not her!”
“So she was new.” Kanae said, her brow furrowing. “This must have been her first fight then, since she didn’t do very well… I wonder when they recruited her. Or did she awaken to her powers on her own? She acted like she was seeing them for the first time…”
“Man, I’d have put in my resume or something if I’d known there was a vacancy.” Miharu leaned back wistfully. “Maybe I could’ve gone for it as soon as Orange retired!”
Kanae stiffened, and her face slowly but surely fell.
“Well, I’m sure they wouldn’t pick ordinary schoolgirls like us.” Kanae said, her bangs long enough to cover her eyes with her head bowed. “Whoever gets to be a magical girl must be way more special and sparkly than anybody here, especially me. They’d never pick somebody like me, not in a million years…”
“It’s not like they have a team limit or anything, you know!” Momoko said forcefully, unable to listen to her put herself down any longer. She took Kanae’s hands, staring straight into the blushing girl’s eyes. “There’s been teams with, like, fifteen Kaleidoscopes on them before, you could totally be a Kaleidoscope Pur… Violet, or something!
“Yeah, even Momo still has a chance!” Miharu said enthusiastically, clearly not taking it very seriously although Kanae seemed enraptured. “What’ll you call yourself, though? They already have a pink.”
“Our hair isn’t the same pink.” Momoko pointed out. “Mine’s darker.”
“True!” Miharu laughed. It was surprising that people didn’t assume that their hair colours weren’t quite the same in their secret identities, Momoko always thought. They always got brighter and more saturated after transforming. “That’d make you Kaleidoscope… Coral? Rouge?”
“On second thoughts, I’ll wait until there’s another spot for a Pink.” Momoko said. “I don’t really like it when they use overly specific colour names or have lots of overlap. There was one team that had Scarlet, Crimson, Maroon… Ugh, Maroon is such an uncute magical girl name.”
“True, can you imagine having two pinks on one team?” Miharu giggled. “Total sugar overdose.”
“Is Pink your favourite, Momoko?” Kanae asked rather intently, Momoko’s mind racing as she decided whether to avoid the question or not. Eventually, she decided it was probably less suspicious to take it head-on.
“Of course!” Momoko declared. “Pink’s my colour, after all. Everybody always goes with their favourite colour.”
This wasn’t true, Momoko thought to herself, her favourite magical girl before she’d become one herself was actually a blue, but for most people it really was just that simple.
“I knew it!” Kanae said, clearly been waiting for her to “admit” it. “I can tell you’ve been styling your hair and makeup after her! But her hair is even fluffier and silkier than yours, trust me! I should have asked for her conditioner! Oh, it’s probably magical though…”
“You know Momo, you seriously don’t look like Pink at all.” Miharu noted, holding up the phone and glancing back and forth. “You’ve got like, the lips and the boobs, but the rest? No way.”
“I know right? Her lips are too big, and my nose doesn’t look anything like that.” Momoko said as confidently as she could, staring at a photo that was, from her perspective, absolutely identical to her…
