Son Goku, the world-class fighter with more achievements than you could shake an extending stick at, warmed up with some quick stretches as he stood in the arena of the 23rd Tenkaichi Budokai, the World Martial Arts Tournament filled with friends and foes alike. He was looking forward to his next match, as although he enjoyed fighting against old rivals, it was just as exciting to fight brand new opponents like the one entering the ring before him. He continued stretching as the announcer began to call out again to prepare the match.
“The next match pits Son Goku, the runner up from the previous two tournaments, against “Anonymous”, a girl who impressively fought her way through the prelims!”
Certain members of the crowd who had missed some of the earlier matches perked up at the mention of Goku’s opponent being a girl, instantly conjuring up images of a slender waif who defeated opponents many times her size, or perhaps an Amazonian brawler with power on her side. Those audience members nearly fell out of their seats at the woman they saw, who had the furthest thing from the frame of an underdog. The woman had perhaps the largest body of any fighter in the tournament, wider than any hulking muscleman and taller than any giant hoping to use their size to their advantage. And that was before you got to her weight… They gulped as she confidently strode into the arena, glaring at her opponent with murderous intent.
The woman was massive, but obviously youthful, and some estimated she would have been quite cute were it not for her bulk, and bulk she had in spades. She was obviously fat, with a bulging gut that bounced with every step and a hefty second chin, but it was obvious to tell that she was built like a brick below it, an obvious coating of fat over pure muscle, and a powerful confidence that held it up with pride. She was as wide as a doorway and almost twice as tall as Goku, her barrel-like biceps almost as thick as he was. She wore a sleeveless qipao over baggy pants that would have given a rather elegant image had she been small and slender, but instead sent the message that she had the fashion sensibilities of a woman a fraction her size. As it were her qipao was pulled tight by her love handles and pot belly, the sash tied around her middle sinking into her round gut. She had long straight black hair that complimented a rather cute face with cherubic cheeks and that jiggling second chin that squashed with indignation. Goku had never seen her before in his life, but for some reason that big body of hers reminded him of the Ox King he had met long ago.
The woman balled her fists, her muscles bulging enough to almost show through its coating of flab.
Goku could practically feel the tiles of the arena shake with each heavy footstep of his opponent, and if he’d been any closer he would have had to crane his neck upwards at the massive woman who cast a shadow nearly long enough to cover him, although her ill intent was lost on the innocent young man who was rather confused as to why she was glaring at him so strongly. She seemed to be upset, but for what reason? Although this was Goku’s first time in the ring with her, he’d seen her around the tournament venue, and each time she had seen mad, glaring in particular at him. Even though she was so angry, he couldn’t help but find her rather cute.
“Maybe it’s just me,” he said with childlike curiosity as they waited for their match to begin, “but you always seem mad.”
The girl’s eyebrow twitched, annoyed in particular at his innocent remark.
“Well, it’s your own fault!” She declared, revealing a rather high pitched voice that didn’t match her heavyset image. “I absolutely won’t forgive you?”
Goku was only more puzzled by the venom in her voice. He just couldn’t figure out why this girl who he’d never met before was so mad at him!
“Are you sure you haven’t mistaken me for somebody else?” He suggested, setting her off instantly.
“There’s no mistake! You’re Son Goku, right!?”
The beating drum of the tournament filled the air of an otherwise awkward silence as she failed to provoke a reaction from him.
“Um, are you ready…?” The announcer tenderly asked. With the girl staring down the confused Goku, he decided they had waited long enough. “Let the second match- woah!”
The announcer was startled by the anonymous girl setting off like a rocket the moment the match began, charging forward, her feet slamming the ground with force that could be felt around the stadium. Her powerful arm swung at Goku like a battering ram, who avoided it with ease, quickly deflecting the followup blow as she sent a barrage of punches at him.
“Have I met you before!?” He asked between blows, the girl intensifying the more confusion he showed.
“You sure have!”
“Really? When?” Goku asked as he leapt backwards, the woman closing the distance surprisingly quickly despite her weight.
“How come you can’t remember anything? How dare you treat a girl that way! I’ve been waiting this whole time!” She yelled, moving onto a series of heavy kicks from legs with thighs like logs. Goku blocked them, her sheer weight pushing him backwards. However, he was already getting a good idea of her capabilities.
Seeing a gap in her offense, Goku returned a punch, intending to shatter her barrage with a carefully placed punch to the gut. However, his fist first sunk into first enough fat to swallow his hand entirely, then, after the impact was softened, collided with what felt like a brick wall of muscle. The result was a blow with a fraction of the force he had intended, and one not even enough to make her flinch. He just barely pulled his hand back in time to avoid a brutal two-handed overhead smash, glad that her heavy body limited her speed. He sent out a quick sequence of kicks, this time to her side, but it seemed that her thick body left her borderline unscathed. If Goku was going to take her down with force alone, he wasn’t sure how long it’d take him. On the other hand, although her technique was solid, he doubted that she could catch him and take advantage of her strength. The fact that he was already not taking her too seriously as a threat seemed to show on his face, making her even angrier.
“Did you forget your promise too?” She cried.
“I promised you something?”
“You sure did!” She shouted, Goku jumping high into the air to avoid a sweeping kick. She leapt up to capitalize, thinking him vulnerable, but Goku had the advantage in the air and was able to springboard off her broad shoulders, sending her right back down and nearly cracking the tiles while he landed on his feet as soft as a feather a few seconds later.
“Well, what was it?” He asked, wanting it cleared up before the match continued.
“After all that, you still can’t remember!?” The woman gnashed her teeth. “In that case, I’ll tell you! You promised me…”
She paused dramatically, the crowd as curious as Goku at this point, able to hear her shouting from the arena.
“That you’d make me your bride!”
Goku seemed completely taken aback, as was all assembled in the face of this bold statement. He thought about it for a moment, then finally, turned helplessly towards where his friends Krillin and Yamcha were standing on the sidelines, the two reeling from what she had just said.
“Hey, Krillin!” He called helplessly. “What’s a bride?”
The woman’s angry face finally cracked as it gave away to total surprise and confusion, as did Krillin and Yamcha.
“You moron!” Krillin yelled back at his naive friend. “Making a girl your bride means you’re going to marry her! You’ll become husband and wife and live together!”
Goku pointed at the girl in confusion. “I promised that? When!? Hey, who are you anyway, tell me already!”
“I’ll tell you if you manage to beat me!” The woman recovered, resuming her fighting pose.
“Really? That’s great!” Goku said cheerfully. “I was worried I’d have to spend the rest of my life with somebody whose name I don’t even know!”
“Ha! You think you’ve already won?” The woman’s pose was nothing short of hulking, ready to strike at any moment. “Sorry, but you’re sorely mistaken if you think I’ll lose that easily?”
Unfortunately, she immediately jinxed herself with those words. Goku had been drawing out the fight to try to find out just what her deal was and what her weaknesses were, and now that he knew he’d get an answer by defeating her, the fight was practically already over. With blistering speed Goku darted forward, avoiding her broad swing by ducking under, sweeping her out from under her feet, and finally, with a great display of strength, caught her.
“H-hey! W-what do you think you’re- Aaah!” The girl squealed as he began to lift her up, then with a shout, tossed her across and out of the ring entirely, nearly knocking the spectators in the front row off their feet as she landed with a mighty slam on her gigantic ass. It was just as he’d suspected: she was so used to overwhelming her opponents and tossing them around with her weight that she had no idea how to deal with anybody strong enough to throw her. Plus, he knew enough to know that it was poor form to hit a girl too much if he could avoid it, even if she was built like the Ox King.
The woman was dazed for a few moments, not yet processing that she’d lost. She looked up to find Goku already standing on the edge of the ring, looking down at her with casual concern.
“Hey, are you alright?” He asked, and she seemed to recover quickly, picking herself back up and seeming much calmer despite losing.
“Just as I thought, you’ve grown really strong.” She said, brushing herself off. “I’m glad I decided to do this.”
She climbed back into the arena, Goku having to crane his neck upwards to look her in the eye.
“So, what’s your name? He asked.
“You still don’t know?” She scowled for a moment again. “It’s the Ox King’s daughter, Chichi!”
The dots connected in Goku’s head as old memories came rushing back, and his eyes went from innocent confusion to nearly bulging out of his head.
“Chichi!? That Chichi!?” He exclaimed, remembering the tiny girl he’d met all those years ago. “I remember! I did tell you I’d come and make you my bride! I didn’t recognise you at all, you’ve gotten so big! Although, I did think that “bride” was some kind of food.”
“F-food?” Now it was Chichi’s turn to be confused. The idea that she had spent all this time and effort on a misunderstanding was enough to make her powerful legs go weak in the knees. “So then… what about the promise…?”
“Still, I did make a promise!” Goku decided and smiled. “So, want to get married?”
As soon as he said it, Chichi lit up, all her anger completely gone as if it had never been there to begin with. She caught him in a huge bear hug, lifting him up from under his arms and brought him in for a huge kiss. The crowd was still confused, but enthusiastic enough to see that he had reciprocated, and watched as Goku nearly vanished into her flesh as her reached around her broad shoulders to return the hug…
