“Ah, Link! I’m ever so glad you could make it!”
The bubbly pink princess of the Mushroom Kingdom smiled brightly as the hero of Hyrule clad in blue entered the room, being almost blinded by pastel colours as usual. Each member of the interdimensional Super Smash Bros tournament had been allowed to customise their personal rooms as they pleased, and unsurprisingly, Peach’s was just about the girliest thing he had ever seen. Pink walls, a pink bed, a pink vanity for doing her makeup, and most relevantly, a pale pink table and tea set for throwing appropriately feminine tea parties.
“Wouldn’t miss it for the world. This is probably our last time together, after all.” Link assured her, returning the smile as he pulled up a seat and sat down, Peach delicately lifting an ornate porcelain kettle and gently pouring him a drink, the sweet aroma that Peach took pride in as a host filling the air, carefully tweaked over the course of weeks to pander more and more to Link’s tastes.
“I’m certain I’ve gotten it perfect this time. These little meetings of ours weren’t just for pleasantries” Peach bragged audaciously, getting an outright laugh out of Link.
“Teatime isn’t a pleasantry?”
“Oh, tea parties are a very important part of a princess’s life, make no mistake.” Peach said quite seriously, raising a gloved finger for emphasis. “Wherever would I be if I couldn’t be a good host? You’re quite the delightful chef yourself, but you’ve much to learn about decorum!”
Of course, when Peach poured her own, she took a much more shameless approach of heaping honey into her teacup right afterwards, having an insatiable sweet tooth. Usually these little tea parties were accompanied by slices of cake and other sweets, but the focus seemed to be purely on tea today.
“I think I've learned more about being a princess just fighting with you than guarding Zelda.” Link smiled, sipping the delectable tea. “My Zelda, I mean.”
“Well, your princess sounds like quite the tomboy to me. Not that there’s anything wrong with that.” Peach commented. “I just rather feel that you’ve been missing out on the true princess experience all these years!”
“I think the old Zeldas used up all of the girliness.” Link joked, thinking about the bubbly ancient Zelda who had surprised him with her cheerful energy. “Still, Zelda can be feminine when she wants to be. Just not as, well…”
“Well what?” Peach asked,
“Old-fashioned?” Link tried. Fairy tale-like was more appropriate, as Peach was the type of thing young girls would dress up as in a play.
“I’ll have you know that this never goes out of fashion in my world.” Peach said confidently, glancing down at her bright pink dress. The two chatted idly for a minute, Link finishing his cup and being immediately poured more.
“Shame this is our last time together.” He said, but Peach didn’t agree.
“Nonsense, we’re just getting started.” She declared, Link failing to see how.
“You said yourself that I’m unlikely to see you again at the next tournament.” Link pointed out. There had been Links before him and there would be Links after him, as befitting his heroic lineage. He was just lucky he wasn't one of the ones passed over.
“Don’t worry, I’ve got something in mind to take care of that.” Peach said mysteriously. Link wanted to ask more but she seemed to evade him, and Link supposed that she came from the kind of world where sending interdimensional letters or something like that wasn’t out of the question.
“You know Link, do you believe that we make the most unlikely of friends?” Peach said suddenly after watching Link take another few sips, placing her own down. Link took a moment to lower it from his lips, the tea so good it was starting to make him feel a bit tingly.
“I guess I wouldn’t have seen it coming.” Link grinned. Link had first met Peach as an opponent in battle, getting a nasty surprise when she defied her girly image and beat him senseless, eliminating him in their first encounter, Peach giggling and chastising him afterwards for going easy on her because of her appearance. He had managed to take revenge on her in a narrow victory later, and soon afterwards the two had been coincidentally randomly matched together in a team battle, finding that they had surprising synergy on the battlefield and continuing their working relationship at Peach’s suggestion.
Things had progressed naturally from there, with Peach eventually inviting him over for tea and snacks, and once he had gotten over the awkwardness of being a man at an extremely girly tea party, they had found a lot more common ground than they thought, and he had returned the favour with his culinary skills. Weeks later they had gone out so often some of the other fighters had joked about being a couple, something the two had firmly denied, Peach laughing off in particular. There was nothing wrong with a good platonic friendship she said, much to the chagrin of a certain red plumber.
“Well, I don’t believe it’s unlikely at all.” Peach said sharply, surprising Link a little. “Perhaps as a team, certainly, but I believe that you and I have a lot more in common than you’d think.”
“Like baking?” Link suggested, starting to feel a little strange, like his tunic was a little looser than usual. “You’ve certainly got me beat at baking cakes.”
“Oh, much more than just hobbies, although cooking is certainly a wonderful skill for a lady to have.” said Peach, topping Link up yet again while he wasn’t looking. “You see, I’ve met quite a few Links attending this tournament, and they’ve all been the stoic sort, save for that adorable sailor boy, but he tries his best. I suppose you’ve met all but one of them, but he was quite the humourless sort. That’s a handsome trait in a man, but quite boring in my opinion.”
“So Sheik says.” Link commented, the mysterious so-called last of the Sheikah having been taken aback by the fact that in this Link’s time, her people were a common sight. She also seemed to have a secret that the older members of the tournament were privy to, one that Peach often teased him about not knowing.
“Oh, you have no idea.” Peach sighed. “But you certainly know how to have a good time, don’t you? I must say, even Mario wouldn’t have thought of blowing himself around like a ragdoll with his own bombs! I suppose Luigi might do it by accident, but my point remains!”
“They probably just knew how to get the job done without any tricks like that.” Link said humbly, brushing an annoyingly long strand of hair out of his eyes, a little too late to downplay his habits after he had gleefully explained the elaborate tactics he had used on his enemies back in his homeworld. He squirmed in his seat, his butt feeling a bit strange and his pants too snug around the hips.
“Oh no, I’d say that a playful spirit is much more important if you want to fight in my world.” Peach insisted. “And there’s plenty of other things!”
“Like what?”
“How about I describe my impression of you, Link?” Peach suggested, Link wondering where she was going with this. “You’re a good chef, you’re quite sensitive to others, you have a refined exterior but you know how to make merry, you’ve a good knowledge of formalities, you know how to treat a guest, and the way you described it, you have a fondness for dressing up.”
“Well, that last one is a bit-”
“You know what that sounds like to me?” Peach leaned in.
“What?”
“A princess!”
“A princess!?” Link’s voice cracked, going up an octave as he nearly choked on his tea, spluttering and almost dropping his cup. “That’s, uh, quite the joke, your highness.”
“Oh, it’s no joke.” Peach said quite seriously. “Sure, you’re a little too manly right now, but you’ve dressed up as a girl before, haven’t you? I’m sure I could make quite the princess of you with a little time and effort.”
“That was just to get into Gerudo Town!” Link insisted, wondering why his voice sounded so strange. “It’s not like I-”
Link’s waist cracked, and he gasped as his hands flew to his hips, finding a definite curve outwards at the hips and inwards at the waist. His chest felt funny, with sensitive nipples rubbing against the usually soft fabric of his tunic. He stared at his hand, which seemed much daintier than usual, and his thinner than usual eyebrows narrowed as he finally caught on.
“What have you done to me?” Link demanded in his high-pitched voice, nearly slamming the table as he pushed himself to his feet. He had to grab his pants to stop them from falling down, his tunic loose on his shoulders while being pushed out at the chest by a petite but rapidly growing chest. His long eyelashes fluttered, and although he intended to scowl, his lips puffed up during the attempt and formed a perfectly cute pout, as pronounced and soft as Peach’s.
“Link, how would you feel about giving being a princess a try?” Peach giggled, unable to contain her delighted expression any longer. “I’m sure you’d love it! You’re already looking adorable as a girl!”
“Don’t just go and transform me without asking!” Link nearly yelled as her voice rose in pitch yet again, finding that he was a lot less distressed by it than he thought. His body felt strange but pleasantly soft, and perhaps it was the fact that there were so many bizarre things at this tournament that having his body changed against his will wasn’t the craziest thing that could happen to him. Peach had successfully distracted him long enough for the bulk of the spell to kick in, and he almost had a feeling like being changed into strange forms ran in the family.
“But it seemed like such fun!” Peach protested. “I’ve had so many good times with you as a friend, imagine how much fun we could have together if you were a girlfriend! The spell was much easier than you’d think, too. It blends right in with some good tea!”
“But I’m a guy!” Link’s insistence seemed increasingly flimsy as his chin narrowed and his face softened. He was already androgynous as it was, but now there was no way anybody could call him anything but obviously a girl. Sure, he hadn’t exactly minded being called a pretty girl during that little adventure to Gerudo Town, but his masculine pride felt the need to defend itself. “A real man’s man! I’m-”
Link went pale as there was a certain sucking sensation between his legs, and his hand shot to his groin.
“Not anymore!” Peach said cheerfully, skipping around the tea table and slapping her hands onto Link’s narrowed shoulders. “Come on, let’s get you out of that silly thing, I’ve got just the perfect dress for you!”
Peach yanked the feebly protesting Link over to her wardrobe, flinging it open to reveal an entire room hidden within, shoving the newly christened girl inside as he, or now she, mumbled about losing a very important thing and that princess Zelda was going to kill her when she found out about this. Despite this, Link’s protests were largely for show. What was done was done, and there was a pleasant pink fog passing through her mind, telling her to go with the flow and give new things a try. Link realised that the voice was her own, amplified by the fog of Peach’s spell, and barely resisted as Peach yanked his tunic and pants off of him, revealing an hourglass figure with a thin waist and two supple breasts, not too big, but not too small either.
Link blushed and hid her chest with her arms, her pose already unconsciously feminine.
“How come you didn’t change, anyway?” Link asked, brushing his hair over his shoulder as it seemed to never stop growing, eventually settling somewhere around her hips. She got a good look at her feminine form in Peach’s mirror within, forming a hourglass with a dainty torso, thick thighs, and waist narrower than any of the women he knew, noticing that her sandy brown hair seemed a lot… poofier, than she expected. Her bangs were quite large and pronounced, and the back of her hair was spread wide across her shoulders much unlike anything she had seen back home. The tips of her hair stood up quite cartoonishly, and she got the impression that between that and her body and in particular his extremely girly face, the transformation was less about what he would look like as a girl, and more what he would look like if he were a little more like Peach.
“A spell to turn you into a princess isn't going to affect me, silly. Now where’d I put it… ah, here we are!” Peach said triumphantly, holding up a bright blue dress that looked remarkably similar to her own royal regalia. “Here Link, put this on, put this on!”
“I don’t know how to put on a dress.” Link said with a blush, Peach shaking her head.
“I’m sure it’ll come naturally.” Peach said knowingly, and indeed, it was much easier than Link had expected. She slipped it on as if it were second nature, enjoying the soft silk on her skin from the tight bodice to the puffy shoulders, and as soon as it was on Peach handed her long opera gloves and stockings to slide on. She struck a remarkably feminine pose without thinking, hands clutching her poofy skirt as she twirled to get a good look at herself. She was remarkably pretty, she thought as she looked in the mirror, and that really did make her feel good.
“You look simply splendid! Just how I imagined!” Peach oohed and aahed, Link blushing and trying to hide her smile. “Hopefully Rosalina won’t mind that there’s a new blue girl in town! She’s hardly around these days anyway.”
“Hang on, why do you have this? And why does it fit perfectly?” Link suddenly realised, looking accusingly at Peach.
“I had it custom-fitted a week ago!” She giggled, Link letting out a defeated sigh. “Oh, and here’s one more thing!”
She held up a dainty pair of blue high heels, Link’s expression turning to that of panic.
“Okay, I can handle the dress, but I definitely can’t walk in those!” She insisted.
“Just try it!” Peach forced them onto the protesting princess, who found them strangely comfortable, and took a cautious step forward, expecting to wobble and fall flat on her face, only to find her footsteps perfectly placed without a hint of imbalance, and perhaps even more comfortable than the boot she was used to. The stockings felt good against her skin, and the air of pure femininity she was radiating was a pleasant, soothing feeling. She still would have preferred that Peach had asked her permission in advance, but already she was starting to enjoy herself.
“I made sure you had the whole princess package included.” Peach explained proudly as Link opened her mouth to ask the obvious question. “Of course, I certainly wouldn’t mind teaching you the old fashioned way, but this lets us skip to the fun part! Now, let’s get your makeup on!”
Peach pranced back into her main bedroom and beckoned for LInk to gather, the new girly-girl gathering up her skirts and unconsciously emulating Peach’s feminine mannerisms as she carefully walked out. Her skirt bustled and her hips rocked as she walked like she had been born and raised a princess, and she sat down before Peach’s vanity with her legs pressed firmly together and her hands placed carefully on her lap.
“This is mascara, and this is your blush, and…” Peach began to explain each part of her makeup kit to her, but as soon as Link touched the tube of lipstick Peach offered her she instinctively knew what each tool was and began to move her slender fingers with trained precision, coating her face with a thin and refined layer of makeup, blush, dark mascara, light blue eyeshadow, and a thick layer of light blue lipstick to match her dress. Peach had suggested starting with pink, but she had been drawn to the colourful image it gave her, and Peach had been happy to couple it with large blue earrings to complete her look.
“Link, you look simply gorgeous! Splendid! Beautiful!” Peach raved, hopping up and down in excitement as Link became the princess of her dreams. “Oh, we’re going to have such fun together, I just know it!”
“Well, I suppose I shan’t complain about the manner in which you’ve achieved this state of affairs, princess.” Link said, already starting to sound more refined and feeling little reason to fight her impulses to talk this way. “But Peach, how are we supposed to enjoy this when we’re to be sent home any moment now? There’s nary a moment to waste, surely?”
“Who said anything about you going home?” Peach smirked, starting to sound almost devilish as she reached the crux of her plan “Why don’t you just come with me? There’s plenty of room for one more princess in the Mushroom Kingdom.”
“To your world?” Link exclaimed. “But princess, I can’t be gone from Hyrule for long! What if some danger befalls it? And I’m not even a real princess!”
“Oh, I wouldn’t worry about that, we’ll just say that you’re a princess of Hyrule, who’s going to check?” Peach brushed aside her concerns. “This silly event takes all sorts from across space and time, I’m sure it’ll drop you off right where it left you the next time we come back. And besides, you’ve saved your world already, haven’t you? I’m sure you can leave it be for a few moments, your princess won’t mind.”
“I suppose you won’t change me back even if I insist on returning home, will you?” Link sighed, Peach grinning shamelessly.
“Of course not, now that you’re so pretty! Your Zelda will surely thank me when she sees you.”
“Well then…” Link shrugged and extended her gloved hand. “Shall we get going? I’m ever so curious about this kingdom of yours. It sounds like a rather whimsical place.”
“It’d be my delight to show you around!” Peach smiled, the two dainty princesses leaving the room and walking down the hallway together, to the shocked looks of the other fighters they passed who wondered if Peach had found herself a second echo fighter at some point. “By the way Link, have you ever been kidnapped before?”
“I’m more of the rescuing sort, your highness.” Link giggled. “How do you end up kidnapped so often, anyway? You seem strong enough to take care of yourself, and you’ve adventured with that Mario fellow many times before, haven’t you?”
“Bowser’s plenty tough on his own, and he catches me before I know it half the time anyway.” Peach explained, sounding not bothered by the fact that her kingdom got conquered every other week. “Besides, it’s quite fun, having a man fight to save you. I had this chat with all of the other Zeldas I’ve met and they all agree it’s quite romantic.”
“I can’t guarantee I won’t fight back.” Link warned, but had to agree there was a certain appeal to it.
“Oh, just let it happen, you’ll love it, I insist! Bowser’ll be happy to have two princesses.” Peach laughed, and the two chatted merrily all the way home, Link ready to take life easy as the Mushroom Kingdom’s latest princess…
