Jacob waited until he heard his parent's car pull out of the driveway before he began to move. This was perfect, a night to himself! He was only home alone because his parents didn't want him ruining their dinner out, but that was a fact he wouldn't have cared about even if he had thought about it long enough to realise. The first thing he did was go straight for the popcorn, soft drinks, and other assorted snacks that he had been specifically instructed not to touch. He was at the age where doing something that his parents told him not to was a hilarious idea. Sure, his parents would have to clean up, but who cared? That was their job. Most kids would have tried to get a friend over at a time like this, but Jacob didn't really care. It was his house now, and he could do whatever he wanted in it. Most people wouldn't have wanted to spend a night with him any way. Most people would have described him as a complete brat if they were trying to be polite.

His snacks prepared, he went over to the tv, and wondered what to do. He knew that there was nothing he wanted to watch on TV at this time, he didn't want to wreck his controllers while he was eating with all the salt, cheese, and grease, and it'd take ages to move his stuff again... Which left the DVD player. He wondered if it was still jammed since that time his cousin was over. He went over to inspect it. Yep, still broken. He hit play, and wondered what the movie was. Cinderella. Not exactly his first choice, but he needed something to stare at while he ate, and once he really thought about it despite having the house to himself, he didn't really have much to actually do. So, he sat down, hit play, and watched.

--

A couple of hours later and the movie was over, and Jacob was reminded of why he didn't watch this kind of thing. It was stupid. The plot was dumb, princesses were for girls, and he couldn't believe he just sat through this whole thing.

"Why the slipper?  How big of an idiot would you be not to just recognise her?" He said, out loud for some reason. Wasn't like anyone was here to complain about it. "Oh look, some random woman who looks nothing like the one I met! But her foot fits into this shoe! Guess she must be it! Because there's only one person that'd fit into it! Idiot. The whole thing's stupid, why only until midnight? Why listen to your stupid mother anyway? This was such a complete waste of time."

As soon as he finished monologuing out loud, something happened. Maybe somebody heard him. Maybe it was going to happen anyway. In any case, he couldn't exactly have predicted it. Why would he?Even if he never found out, he probably would have regretted saying it anyway.

Suddenly, Jacob shuddered. It was an involuntary thing, a twitch reaction out of nowhere. He couldn't really explain it, not even to himself, but it was like something had suddenly changed, and it was an unpleasant sensation. He stood up to go have another shot at changing the DVD, when he felt odd. Things seemed a little lower than usual. It was probably just his imagination. He tried to get the tray open again, but it still failed to operate properly. Although he really needed to clip his nails, he thought upon seeing his hands, they were getting a bit long. Wait, hadn't he done that yesterday? Must have not been a good job.

As he stood back up, the feeling he had before resurfaced, but rather than being a brief jolt, it was more of a slow, gentle feeling, albeit an uneasy one. He looked down to see the floor much further away than before, he was sure of it! And as he watched for a moment, it was getting further and further away! It was only at less than a millimetre a second, but when he watched it for almost a minute it was an extremely noticeable thing. He brushed some black hair out of his eyes, his fringe getting in the way. He was so distracted by what was going on that he realised that his hair was too short to have a fringe that even reached his eyebrows.

He couldn't be getting taller. That was stupid. That wasn't how things worked. But as he stared down at the floor, the wooden floor seemed to be getting greyer, and almost looked like some kind of stone. He had too much. That was definitely it. Yes Dad, next time I won't have most of the bottle of lemonade, and he wouldn't have the entire bag of chips, it was obviously making him feel sick or hallucinate or something. That had to be it. Until nearly jumped, startled at what he saw, the lights flickering as he did...

It wasn't the flickering lights that bothered him, of course. To be scared by lights flickering would be ridiculous. He liked to think of anyone who was scared of the dark a complete wimp. It of course didn't stop him from sleeping with his door open, a light spilling in from downstairs, but he liked to pretend he was a lot of things he wasn't.

Rather, it was the haze coming from the wall behind the TV that startled him. It was like the plain white wall was shifting and turning before his eyes, harsh grey stones growing outwards from it in slightly uneven patterns. He stepped away from it, now stepping from denial to fight, and yelped slightly higher-pitched than usual as the entire TV and shelves below it completely vanished, with the window near it losing all of the glass and windowpane, now leading out into a very starry night sky.

It was at this point that he freaked out, and quickly ran away, the room getting darker as the quickly spreading shifting room reached the lights on the room, each one disappearing. Ok, something crazy was happening, he was crazy, or something, he didn't know, he was terrified at this point. He sprinted down the hallway, stopping as he saw himself in the bathroom mirror, the door left open. He was surprised enough to stop running and go inspect himself, despite the rest of him screaming to keep running.

In the mirror, he saw that he was indeed taller, but it didn't look like he was any older. In fact, he was just as scrawny as ever, and for some reason his clothes had grown to match. His arms seemed to be even thinner than usual, and his hands looked strangely delicate for some reason. While his shirt and jeans had grown, it seemed very loose on his shoulders, like they weren't wide enough to hold it up properly. Actually, at that thought, his shirt seemed to be tucked into his jeans, which were a much paler shade than usual, being almost baby-blue in colour.

He heard a crick as his waist suddenly sank in, giving it a girly curve inwards, his young face clashing with his feminine torso, a moment of pain sparking as his stomach tried to react to its restricted space. He realised as he saw his face that his short black hair had been replaced with a shoulder-reaching shade of very light brown. He was changing into something else, and he was completely terrified by the thought of it.

Before he could even think about it a second longer, the bathroom sink disappeared, the room taking on the same cold, grey stony wall that felt like a dungeon, the bath in the corner going from being built into the room, to being replaced with a dingy metal one standing on its own feet in the corner. He fled the room before he could see anything else, fleeing upstairs to his room, climbing the spiral staircase to the second floor of the building.

As he ran, his hips seemed to widen outwards, his gait shifting as it started straight and narrow, moving into a rounded curve on both hips as they grew outwards, inches apart and wider than his shoulders. He almost stumbled up the stairs as his centre of gravity shifted, his arms unconsciously swinging upwards into a girly, overly feminine run, constantly held up. It didn't help that as he ran, his sneaker's heel was growing, getting higher and higher as well as thinner. The moment he reached the final step, he tripped completely, landing painfully and giving out a high-pitched, feminine squeal of surprise and pain. His now blonde hair lay strewn about on the floor, brushing it as he turned himself over onto a considerably more padded behind. At this point, he was ready to call out for help. Why wouldn't somebody come help him, save him from this? No, nobody was coming, he couldn't just sit down and wait for somebody to save him. Could he?

He went to stand up, when he realised that his clothes were completely different, the legs of his jeans having merged together and opened up into a single sleeve that was rapidly widening, the thick denim feeling more like soft silk now. It widened, gaining size and volume until it reached far out to his sides, almost a metre out to the left and right at the ends, where he watched as it grew longer as well, covering up his sneakers that grew harder, shifting into a pair of perfectly glass high-heels, that for some reason didn't shatter upon use. The dress now extended past his feet, and he accidentally stepped on it, falling right back over again.

He was nearly in tears now, but didn't cry. Crying was for girls, even if the situation was insane and he was now wearing a ridiculous dress. He was pushed up slightly by two mounds growing from his chest, and was entirely confused by what exactly was happening. The flat chest that he naturally possessed was being replaced with two round lumps that were quickly swelling up, going from firm and flat to large and bouncy quite quickly. If he had known what was happening, he would have identified them as C-cup. As he was, he identified them as soft and very sensitive. He carefully picked himself up, and was about to start moving again when he felt, or rather didn't feel, something very important as even his underwear changed to suit a lack of very important equipment, his new chest heaving and bouncing as she ran.

He, or now she, as she began to unconsciously think of herself, was confused by this, but interrupted in said confusion by the stairs becoming hard stone, the floor quickly matching. She forced herself carefully up and began running, holding her skirts up as she failed to realise that she was competently running in high-heels. Her bright blonde hair fluttered around her head, occasionally getting in her face, while her dress flowed at the back, a white petticoat having grown underneath its light-blue reaches, and a layer around her hips and down her back side to nearly her knees that was an even paler shade of blue, sparkling slightly. She was distracted from noticing this by some brief nausea, causing her to double over with a girly gasp as her internal organs quickly rearranged themselves, adding and removing a few parts.

Her t-shirt, having joined with her dress, had turned the same blue shade and lost all other details and logos on it, although her short sleeves were an even paler colour. Said sleeves began to grow down to her hands, holding onto her dress and raising it to avoid tripping again, creeping down her wrists and around her hands to form gloves. They split off from just past her elbows, and the material above the now opera-gloves gathered to form a pair of extremely poofy shoulders. The neckline of what was her shirt began to retreat downwards, showing off a hint of her new cleavage and leaving the rest up to her neck uncovered. Up top, her features, however frozen in fear they might have been, began to begin the final phases of her change. Her face thinned, losing any trace of baby fat she had before, as her nose shrank, her eyebrows thinning and eyes changing shape slightly, her lips plumping up as it looks obviously and completely the face of an adult woman.

Panting as she reached the end of the hallway where her room was, she burst into it, slamming the door behind her, trying to press it shut with all her meager strength. It wasn't going to stop the thing changing the house around her, but she was too terrified to stop trying. She was wishing for somebody to come help, some brave hero to come save her. As she was thinking that, a thin black band formed around her neck, and her long hair began to curl upwards, her fringe becoming tightly curled mass pointing upwards, while her shoulder-reaching hair pulled itself vertically as it also curled around into a set of spirals, tightly knotting itself into an up-do. In the small amount of hair between her fringe and her up-do, a light-blue hairband formed, large diamonds sprouting at the ends, nearly covering her ears.

As the morphing architecture reached her door, the normal wooden door becoming a thick, metal-reinforced one, locked tightly as she tried to turn it, she practically jumped onto her bed, the furthest thing away from it. The bookshelves, desk, small old TV she had managed to inherit after much begging, the computer, the closet... It all vanished as the walls they were pressed up against became cold grey stone. The window lost its glass covering, becoming open and letting in a slightly cold night breeze, and even her bed, and she let her legs hit the floor in defeat, her glass slippers making a loud clack against the stone, the bed became a serviceable but cheap wooden one, a thick woolen blanket replacing the normal bed-covers, one feather-stuffed pillow remaining as the mattress became much stiffer. It was clear to her that wherever she was, it was some kind of prison. But what had she done to deserve it?

She didn't notice a thin layer of lipstick go over her lips, nor the carefully placed eyeshadow and mascara, as she tried to calm down. Even if she was cold and scared and had no idea where she was, she had to compose herself. It was the ladylike thing to do. Somebody would surely come for her, her parents, or perhaps the hero she was wishing for. She looked out of the window, and saw instead of the normal suburb she lived in, a dark, old city mad of wooden and stone buildings. Was she in some kind of castle? Wherever she was, she could only wait. She sighed, and hoped that they would come soon.
