"The Elastic upgrade." Samus said, selecting the upgrade from the list. Samus had consigned her last upgrade to the list of things she was never trying again, and had selected what seemed to be much less likely to leave her frozen in place, and it might even be useful for once, even if it was yet another zero suit upgrade. Samus wondered if she was just looking in the wrong places on the list for power suit upgrades, since she seemed to be finding far less of them. She took the chip from the machine and inserted it into her zero suit, waiting for the changes to begin.
After a few seconds, Samus felt the familiar tingling sensation of her body changing, and looked down at herself, finding that nothing seemed to be happening yet. She waited a minute, and when nothing happened, even after the tingling stopped. With no visible results, Samus pinched her left arm to see if the properties of her suit had changes, and found that the normally tough-but-flexible material of her zero suit seemed to be much softer, squeezing in and yielding far more than usual. Samus brought her arm down... And almost gasped as it continued going down, extending down until it touched the floor.
Samus tried to move her arm back up, causing it to flop around as she tried to control the extra length. She quickly got the hang of it, and was left with a deformed-looking arm that she could at least control competently. She guessed that controlling the growth might work like the other upgrades, and she willed her arm to restore to its proper length, which it thankfully complied with, making a quiet squeaking sound as it shrank back.
Giving her arm a quick swing around to make sure it was back to normal, Samus decided to test the name of the upgrade, and grabbed her left arm between the wrist and elbow, pulling it around until it touched the back of her elbow in a slightly morbid but painless curve, letting go and leaving it there, wondering just what her bones must look like at that angle. After a minute of experimenting with her arms, curving and extending them, she decided to head over to the mirror, putting one leg out towards the mirror... And fell over as it grew out further than she could maintain her balance on.
She pulled herself back up, thankful that her face seemed to have gained the rubberlike qualities of her limbs, as evidenced by having not broken it when she fell, and tried again, making sure that she kept her legs at their proper lengths as she walked. When she made it to the mirror, she leaned in closer to see if the texture of her skin had visibly changed, her neck extending as she examined her face. It didn't seem to have change at all, although she quickly retracted her neck, finding it uncomfortable to look at, at least for now.
She experimented further, finding that her torso could also stretch, as well as finding that she could contort even more than she could in her morph-ball form, although she found that getting out of the knot was a bit more difficult.
"I'm going to have to remember to keep this one..." Samus said, extending her upper torso over to the computer to have another look at the list.
