"The Rito/Raptor upgrade." Samus said, selecting the upgrade on her second try. Having a beak for a nose was definitely something she'd have to get used to if she kept that upgrade for whatever reason. Once she had finished enjoying flying around, she found that the Rito upgrade could be combined with the Raptor upgrade, and decided to see what she ended up with. She wondered why it couldn't just be a separate upgrade, but oh well. Maybe it was a programming thing, she didn't design these upgrades, she didn't know. She took the chip from the machine and inserted it into her zero suit, waiting for the changes to begin.
The first thing to change was her feet, the hard matter of her bird's feet softening as it reformed back into skin, her talons remaining as well as her three toes, while she felt a slightly painful splitting feeling as a fourth talon grew from the back, a similar talon growing out to keep her balanced. When she looked down to examine her altered feet, her skin began to tingle, and she watched her bare arm as her skin went from the brownish-grey tone it currently had to a light yellowish-brown colour, and her skin began to look a bit more leathery and tough.
As she held her arm out to watch, she was surprised when her wings involuntarily deployed, this time devoid of feathers, and instead having a naked, thin, and veined membrane that folded as she moved her arms, but did not disappear on command like her Rito wings. They began to grow longer and wider, ending at a point, and Samus gave them an experimental flap or two, and found that it achieved roughly the same amount of lift as her old wings, despite the changed makeup of them. While she did this, her fingers began to change, the nails on them growing out into sharpened points, long and thin.
As Samus began to walk towards the mirror, she felt her hard beak of a nose start to soften, the hard material forming into a regular nose, albeit a very long and curved one, one that began to grow outwards, stretching slightly painfully as her jaw and teeth rearranged to fit it, her chin jutting forward and curving upwards as it became long, pointed, and elongated, jutting away from her face in a reptilian style, her teeth lining it all the way as many more sprouted to cover the long area. She felt a bump growing on her hair, and went to rub it, parting her hair as a ridge emerged from the centre of her scalp, pointed at the top and uncovered in hair.
With her changes complete, Samus headed over to the mirror to take a good look at herself, not quite as pleased with her changes as she could have been. While the claws might have been useful, and an experimental take-off confirmed that her flying ability was untouched, the membrane looked like it would get in her way a lot, and the elongated face reminded her a bit too much about Ridley for her liking.
"Well, I liked the first one much more than this…" Samus said, struggling to form the words through her oddly shaped mouth, her pointed tongue not helping.
